Eye Shadow -Clinique - Color Surge Duo in Strawberry Fudge
SeraphBriar 5/18/2011 9:12:00 PM
This product converted me to higher-end (higher than drugstore, anyway) make-up. I love the finish on the pink shade, though I find I don't use the mauvey-brown much. The pink is shimmery without being heavy on the glitter, and is just warm enough to avoid the shimmer coming off as frosty. The case dings and smudges outside easily, but that's just a packaging thing. I do find it doesn't stay more than about six hours on me, but I rub my eyes a bit much.

Eye Shadow -L'Oreal - HiP Bright Duo - Adventurous #114

The applicator just rattles around obnoxiously; I tossed that right away. The shades are tolerable; I happen to sort of like the taupe, though I can't combine it with the pink. Neither shade is too shimmery but they don't have much staying power either.

Lip Gloss -Clinique - Superbalm Moisturizing Glosses
SeraphBriar 5/18/2011 9:01:00 PM
I have this in Mango and a mini-freebie in Currant. The applicator tip gets a little gummy sometimes, but the shades are sheer and flattering and wonderfully glossy without being sticky. I have to reapply after several hours, but it's lip gloss after all, and it doesn't taste funky. Clinique's Superbalm has made me a lip gloss convert.

Lip Gloss -Clinique - Superbalm Moisturizing Gloss in Currant

Got this one as a freebie in a "buy $, get stuff" deal from Clinique, and it actually has made me a lip gloss convert. I love this sheer berry shade; I love that it's not sticky, thick, or weird-tasting. It doesn't last more than a few hours, but that's okay, because reapplying it feels nice.

Blush -New York Color - Blushable Creme Stick in 644U Plaza Pink
SeraphBriar 5/18/2011 8:25:00 PM
A very flattering and easy to blend pink shade that works well on my fair olive-toned skin; it tends just a little towards coral, but not so much that it picks up the yellow in my skin. The blush itself isn't sticky or thick, and I usually just swipe it on and blend with my fingers. Not much shimmer I can see in this one, but it has to downright glitter before I notice, usually.

Lipstick -Revlon - Super Lustrous

I have this in a limited edition Coral Glow shade. The formula doesn't taste too weird and isn't sticky, but doesn't last very long. It's a great shade, though, and doesn't dry my lips out, so I like it.

Hair Styling Tools -Conair - Styling Essentials Barber Shears

They work. They get a little dull and eventually gum up with travel, but they do a fine job of snipping split ends. I'll probably replace them with something higher-end next time, though.

Makeup Brushes -Prestige - #105 Mini Blush
SeraphBriar 5/18/2011 7:48:00 PM
I don't find this brush to be exceptionally stiff at all, but mine's been jammed in a make-up bag for a long time so it may have "aged" more than others. It's a great travel size and doesn't shed bristles all over the place. I mostly use it for putting on blush.

Liquid -Clinique - Acne Solutions Liquid Makeup
SeraphBriar 5/18/2011 7:42:00 PM
I use this in Fresh Neutral in the winter mostly. I haven't noticed it having any effect on my acne (which is fairly minimal) but it has a pretty good coverage and only starts getting cakey at the very end of the day for me. I've never had fantastic luck with liquid foundations, so that this covers well without giving me a mask and doesn't break me out horribly is enough that I like the product. I'm not sure the "Acne Solutions" part is worth it, though, and I might switch to a better matching color. This one is a little pinky for me.

Treatments -E.L.F. - Shine Eraser Blotting Sheets
SeraphBriar 5/18/2011 7:35:00 PM
These are very thin and fiddly and difficult to remove from the package. Once I've got one out, they rip almost immediately. That said, they don't pick up much make-up - just the oil - and they don't leave behind powder, so they work. They just could work a whole lot better.

Hair Styling Tools -The Body Shop - wood wide-tooth detangling comb
SeraphBriar 5/18/2011 7:26:00 PM
It seems I was lucky enough to buy one without any packaging, since I don't recall scraping sticker goo off my comb. I've got another wooden comb which is my HG, but this one is a good travel one for my make-up bag. The wide tooth design gets all but the pin-tangles out. I usually use it on dry hair, since my tailbone-length wet hair ends up snapping too easily when pulled. The teeth are smooth and the finish is buttery - definitely a fan.

Blush -Sephora - blush me- Bronze Sensation No 8
SeraphBriar 5/18/2011 7:21:00 PM
I went to Sephora looking for a darker bronzey blush to replace an ancient no-name I picked up years ago and was pleased to find this shade. Bronze Sensation gives my olive-toned skin a nice sun-kissed look without having to use bronzer or go particularly heavy on the application. It lasts most of a day for me, and I've a habit of putting my hands on my face and rubbing my make-up off. The compact stands up well to make-up bag abuse, though the clear top eventually clouds with scratches.
