Goodness this is expensive. However, I don't wash my hair too often. In fact, in the winter I only wash once a week. So when I do wash I want the most beneficial shampoo I can get. Carol's Daughter Monoi Shampoo cleans well and smells awesome! It has a traditional Monoi fragrance which is gardenia mixed with coconut oil. When I wash I find this does a great job cleansing my scalp without over stripping. After all, one of the reasons I don't shampoo that often is to prevent over-drying of my hair and scalp. When used with Carol's Daughter Monoi Conditioner, my hair is soft, manageable and very clean smelling. The fragrance lasts a few days in my hair and is truly lovely. It is a little pricey, but considering how often I shampoo it is justified for me. P.S. I don't color my hair anymore so I cannot comment on color fade etc.
Toners -Unlisted Brand - Bragg's Apple Cider Vinegar
SensualSusanna 6/10/2013 3:01:00 PM
As far as Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV) goes, this is the good stuff!! What makes Bragg's Apple Cider Vinegar different from any other ACV's out there is that it is unfiltered, non-pasteurized and still maintains the 'mother' in the vinegar. The 'mother' is the pure naturally formed fermentation that starts the entire vinegar process. Unlike other pasteurized vinegars on the market, Bragg's ACV is rich in enzymes, vitamins and minerals found occurring in apples. The fermentation process, when left alone and not disrupted by manufacturing, naturally preserves all the properties that are good for you in apples and creates more properties that enhance the benefits in Bragg's ACV! I have used this for years. I have actually cured dandruff, used ACV in post shampoo rinses (diluted) and straight up, soothed sunburn, acne, mosquito bites and made awesome tasting salad dressings and tonics with Bragg's ACV. I cannot say enough about this wonderful gift from nature. To soothe any type of skin irritation (acne pimple, mosquito bite, sunburn etc) make a compress with Bragg's ACV. Take some gauze and the ACV and place on irritation. Allow to stay on for 5 minutes or so. Do this every hour until irritation feels better. For acne or as a toner, combine 1 part Bragg's ACV with 5 parts distilled water (it is important to use distilled water here and it will sit in a bottle to be used as a toner) to a GLASS bottle. Glass is best. Use with a clean cotton ball or cotton pad after washing face. Do this twice a day. Let air dry. You can spot pimples with straight up ACV to soothe and help banish blemishes. For a great hair rinse to add shine and softness to your hair --- after shampoo and conditioner --- use 1 part Bragg's ACV to 5 parts water. (I use 1/4 cup to 1 cup water for a nice rinse!) Towel dry hair and let dry naturally. The smell will be eliminated after hair is dry. For dandruff (which is caused by fungus and a build up of sebum on the scalp)... Use 1/8 cup of Bragg's ACV in a squeeze bottle or a cotton ball. Saturate your entire scalp with it, being careful to protect your eyes. Leave on for about 20 minutes, then shampoo and condition. Do this every time you shampoo until flakes no longer can be detected. It took me about 5 treatments (and I don't wash my hair everyday) to see an absence of flakes. As a maintenance, I do this once every two weeks as it's great to keep the scalp super clean! Obviously, Braggs is the only ACV I use. Oh and it's organic. Please do yourself a favor -- buy this only in glass! I don't know why recently Braggs started using plastic bottles, but they should know better.
Silky Underwear............where have you been all my life? A very light powder that is super absorbent and yet moisturizing at the same time. Gentle I suppose would be a great description. Whomever invented this is genius. It does exactly everything Lush promotes it does, while it has a gloriously light jasmine fragrance that is so feminine and well sexy!! (But subtle sexiness!)... Love it... will be a great addition to my powder collection.
Gels/Soaps -Nubian Heritage - Black Seed Soap With Apricot Oil and Wild Honey
SensualSusanna 4/10/2013 12:15:00 PM
Fragrance lovers -- this smells like Botrytis Edt. It's got a rich honey candied fruit scent that lasts throughout a shower or bath and for about a hour more. Lovely! On the box it states that this is the formula Egyptian Princess Nephertiti used and she was known for her beautiful skin. It is good for normal skin. LOVE the fragrance and the way it makes my skin feel..
Andalou Naturals Night Repair Cream Age-Defying Fruit Stem Cell with Resveratrol Q10 is a wonderful night cream. I've been using this for almost months and my first jar is almost gone. It's got a nice smell -- fruity but soft -- and it's a thick texture but absorbs quickly into the skin and isn't greasy. There are skin loving antioxidants and fruit stem cells in the formula that comes from grapes. All I know is in the morning, my skin is radiant and glowing after using this for almost 2 months I know I'll repurchase.I think this compares quality wise (but not pricewise) to Caudalie. It's really a great all natural product. Kudos to Andalou Naturals!
Andalou Naturals Body Lotion Energizing Clementine Ginge is ~Heavenly~ scented natural body lotion. Not too expensive if you shop around on line. I love the ginger as it's great for circulation and the clementine is a nice citrus. It awakens the senses and makes me feel a little more energetic. What's best about this natural body lotion is it's natural.. no chemicals or additives that are not necessary. The added fruit stem cells help with anti-aging and keeping the skill looking youthful and healthy. I like that quality in my body lotion; as well as, moisturizing and skin conditioning. Andalou Naturals is a great line that I'm glad I've found!
Andalou Naturals - Body Lotion Vitalizing Mandarin Vanilla is a natural body lotion that works well without a greasy feel. The fragrance is lovely; to my nose it smells like cotton candy! The fragrance is not long lasting, which is a characteristic I look for in lotion as I wear perfume. The formula has added fruit stem cells which help with anti-aging. I think in the month it took me to use up this bottle my skin has improved in overall appearance. No chemicals, a pleasant fragrance and it's not expensive if you shop around on line. Very nice line of natural skin care.
This is expensive, but worth it. I love the color; it's not nude, but sheer with a beige tint. There is no smell or taste which is great! Not drying and stays true a long time. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a natural, easy to wear lippie!
Fragrances -Sephora - Sephora Girls Sweet Almond Eau de Toilette
SensualSusanna 9/14/2012 10:58:00 AM
Love LOVE LOVE!! I wish this product was not discontinued as I find it a very clean almond scent on my skin. Smells like a more expensive scent to my nose -- very similar to Guerlain L'Instant Magic but without too much sweetness! Like I said before, which bears repeating LOVE!! If anyone has any of this they are not using please contact me via MUA!
Masks -Unlisted Brand - Andalou Naturals - Pumpkin Honey Glycolic Mask
SensualSusanna 9/10/2012 2:49:00 PM
I admit I love masks and I enjoy one at least once a week. I love expensive masks like Nude Miracle Mask and inexpensive ones like Queen Helene Mint Julep Masque. I evaluate my skin and give my skin a treat, like I mentioned already at least, once a week. I have started to slowly experiment with natural skincare and break away from added chemicals and preservatives that really have no affect to my skin, but can affect my overall health. Which brings me to Andalou Naturals. I have tried three products so far... the eye cream, night cream and this Pumpkin Honey Glycolic Mask. This mask is the bomb! It works and reminds me a little like the Nude Miracle Mask, which is good but this Andalou mask is better hands down!! First of all it's cooling and you can feel a little tingle which means it's working! The fragrance is naturally edible smelling and smells a little like pumpkin pie! I have used this twice this week and my skin is glowing!! So radiant that even my husband noticed. No irritation or redness (and I am prone to redness). Just beautiful skin.
Fragrances -Unlisted Brand - Auric Blends - Vanilla
SensualSusanna 8/29/2012 2:00:00 PM
Oh my sweet goodnesss Vanilla!! This is the most wonderful, calming, centering vanilla fragrance oil. There's no plastic smell, no fake vanilla smell and it's not too foody. It's just wonderful. It does not remind me of a baked good, it's just plain vanilla. Lasts a long time on the skin. Like all Auric Blends it's cheap and can easily be found at most Whole Foods Supermarkets.
I'm not a big fan of Guerlain in general. I do love Guerlain Jicky Edt., and Secret Intention which as I've been told is not characteristic of a Guerlain at all. I tried L'Instant as it was suppose to be a gourmand, specifically honey fragrance, which was awful on my skin. L'Instant Magic is a soft oriental, not gourmand, just warm and inviting. This is a " come hither" scent with a bit of sweetness (the honey I wanted in L'Instant) and dare I say.. .baby powder, which I like when it's got some adult fun thrown in (think KM Loukhoum without the heavy roses and thick syrup). A little amber here, a little floral there.. a little vampiness if you're in that kind of mood! Yeah. Long staying power, takes little time to dry down on the skin, so you're raring to go and it is pretty consistently linear. Not to wear in hot/humid weather as it would overwhelm someone, but in cooler climates it certainly dictates 'come cuddle dear..... " LOVE!!
Cornmeal works great as an all-over, or facial exfoliator. Amazing to use with your normal body cleanser.. I use Dr. Bronner's Peppermint in the summertime; Lavender sometimes and Eucalyptus when feel a cold coming on. I keep a small shaker of cornmeal in my bathroom and about every third day use it in the shower! Amazingly soft skin... welcoming to moisturizers; and actually makes them work better! Good stuff cheap is awesome!
I'll throw in my two cents and give anyone a tip who found regular sugar a bit too abrasive and irritating for the face. Purchase super-fine sugar (found on the top shelf above the regular sugar in a 1 lb. box) and use on your face with your favorite cleanser. It's a little more pricey than regular granulated sugar, but works more effectively, as It's less harsh on the skin and will not cause broken capillaries. On your body go ahead and use regular granulated sugar or brown sugar (your choice), unless you've got extremely sensitive skin, the opt for super-fine sugar. Sugar is amazing as it's anti-bacterial and exfoliates well. However, be cautious using in the shower in the summertime as if you don't rinse it well down the drain, ore you're messy with it and get it on your floor etc., you'll wind up with ants!! Otherwise, there is no cons of using sugar at all!!
Fragrances -Pacifica - Tunisian Jasmine - spray perfume
SensualSusanna 5/7/2012 10:32:00 PM
Very jasmine... with high amounts of indoles. Really lovely, but there times when indoles don't work (like if you want to go out into public). I won't buy this Pacifica again as it's too much indoles for my taste. However, there are many wonderful Pacifica's to love.
