I'm no-poo and all heat protectors have silicones in them. I've found about 5 or so products that are cone-free and silicone free and so are healthy to leave in your hair. This completely works! They recommend this product in their line for heat protecting, probably bc of the beeswax. 3 straight days of full on flat iron curling and my hair is so so soft. I find myself just petting my hair to feel how nice it is. - Really smooths hair. Hair is totally smooth rather than jumpy going through the iron, especially at the ends which I've never had before w jojoba or any spray - Don't put on scalp - greasy, though it can add some volume there. Depends on what you're going for. - Product is so good for my hair & I can actually leave it in - I gave it a 5 for price because despite the expense it will last a long time since I used only a pea sized amount for my long hair; maybe 40 applications? - Easy to apply, not messy and the smell is so subtle and really awesome that it's very pleasant to use. Light, smooth, easy. - I didn't have to use any hairspray afterwards which is amazing--though flat iron curls don't need hairspray really. - I love that I can just find it at Whole Foods rather than hunting it down in specialty beauty stores. If you're in a pinch it also works as lip balm since it's just oils!

Hair Styling Tools -Babyliss - Pro TT Tourmaline 5000 Hairdryer
rated 4 of 5
Scazza 10/24/2011 5:24:00 PM

I've never thought I could dry my hair every day but with this dryer I can: fast, easy to use, leaves my hair smooth. I bought this because it was the cheapest out of the Rusk Speed Freak and the Babyliss Carerra that I was considering. A lot of surprises with this one. First, this dryer is very lightweight and small enough for traveling with, though I wish the grip were fatter with something grippy like rubber. It dries my shoulder blade length hair in less than 4 minutes. My hair is not fried or dried out at all, just as smooth as if I air dried it. The air that comes out of it feels strangely cool, the barrel and the handle stay cool but it dries my hair faster than dryers that burn me, throw heat everywhere, and overheat me.

Eyeliner -Lancome - Artliner
rated 2 of 5
Scazza 9/25/2011 12:53:00 PM

I really wanted to like this. I'm so confused at all the positive reviews. I bought this bc I wanted something with strong drying power so that when I curled my lashes it wouldn't come off on the curler. This failed that test, and did no better than my drugstore brand. So it's going back. The rest: the brush is very much like a marker, and the formula goes on thin at first. You can shake the bottle around, it has a little ball in it, and that makes more of an even color. The marker tip is not super fine like the Lineur Intense and I felt it went on jagged, almost like a powder. Definitely not a smooth line. You still need a steady hand. It's a slow application, going over the same place over and over again and it took me like 3x as long. It's not worth the price and I'm staying with my Lineur Intense. It also irritates my eyes, much like their old twist up crayon liner used to. Grey film, irritation. Packaging is better, v nice; I like the thick marker for grip rather than the tiny cap and pole system (the other one comes apart often especially if I haven't been using it lately and it all dries and sticks together).

Concealers -Cinema Secrets - Foundation/concealer

I bought this after great reviews here. The colors are very nice but they completely burned my under-eye skin. Cannot use it as a concealer, but still useful for the red neutralizers.

Mascara -NARS - Larger Than Life Volumizing Mascara
rated 4 of 5
Scazza 4/30/2011 7:00:00 AM

The NARS makeover artist at the NARS boutique put this on me and I was very surprised. I have sensitive contact eyes that get floaters with every mascara except Blink Kiss Me, so I expected to go home half blind. I couldn't believe it, but I was totally fine. I am SO happy to have an alternative that adds a little more flavor than Blink. I am hesitant to give it 5 stars and on packaging too bc I don't have much experience with it yet. I'll check back.

Moisturizers -NARS - Brightening Serum
rated 4 of 5
Scazza 4/30/2011 6:47:00 AM

So the other day I woke up looking a bit like the Grinch. My skin was dull, uneven, circles under my eyes. After a mud mask I applied the NARS Brightening Serum without any other moisturizer. A bit later I checked myself in the mirror and really couldn't believe it, my circles completely disappeared. My skin looked even without any additional makeup. I kept checking as it seemed mysterious and wonderful. I felt very French, with even skin and no makeup! I won't say that happens every day, but there is something magical about this product. It comes in a sculptural, sturdy cube, with a locking pump that doesn't leave you with any more product than you need. Though the bottle is glass which makes me afraid of breaking it; it's also v heavy. It's lightly moisturizing and easily layered. The product immediately softens your skin leaving it that way through to the end of the day, but you have to make sure you put enough on. It has very fine pink opalescence that gives a rosy glow. Not as much shimmer as an illuminator, but a more subtle effect rather than in a makeup product. The drawback is that it's quite expensive so I hesitate to use it every day, yet the bottle is supposed to last a year. The expense is the only drawback; I don't think a product's price should make you scared to use it and run out.

Liquid -NARS - Sheer Glow Foundation
rated 5 of 5
Scazza 4/30/2011 6:40:00 AM

I agree with what has been said: Completely weightless Only need a pea size for your whole face Buildable The color match was perfect It looks like (makeup-less) skin Satin finish Does not make you feel like you're wearing makeup I don't wear foundation often but this made me feel so beautiful, it made me want to wear it every day! I've been thinking about it ever since that last time I put it on. It made me love features I usually have trouble with; it made them luminous. Trying a sample at home it was so easy to apply that I forgot all about the Neutrogena Healthy Skin dupe and ordered it right away (though the pictures comparing the two on this page make the Neutrogena seem duller). $42 is cheap for how it made me feel! And I have pretty even skin tone, just use it in the center of my face. It's medium coverage, you need very very little (so would I buy it again? I won't have to for a very long time), though it is buildable. I'd been using Bare Minerals for the past 2 years to get the light effect which might be better in the summer but had been leaving me dry, could feel heavy, and at the same time not cover well, which made me feel old. I also wondered about all their light diffusing talk which sounds artificial and not like real skin. I love that it has Tumeric in it. That makes me want to wear if more often. I like to dot it so I don't miss a pump. I feel that those who found it thick and cakey are probably applying way too much. It stays lightweight even if you apply more which can be deceptive. I use a very small dots on my face and stipple (with the Sonia Kashuk small stippling brush, the dupe of the Mac 188), which makes very even light coverage. I got a sample first from the NARS boutique here in NYC who did my color match (Fiji). They matched my skin very easily on the second try. If you're in the area, I definitely recommend the boutique as it's easier to see all their colors, the lighting is better, and the products are maintained better than Sephora. Kind of out of the way from a subway stop and right by the Magnolia hordes but worth it.

Cleansers -Boscia - MakeUp-BreakUp Cool Cleansing Oil
rated 2 of 5
Scazza 1/24/2011 3:46:00 PM

Burned my sensitive (contacts) eyes insanely when it got in them and was tough to rinse out. Expensive. Menthol is to your taste, but really not to mine. One pro: Feels good going on and I think my skin felt nice and soft after.

Moisturizers -Desert Essence - Jojoba Oil - 100% pure
rated 5 of 5
Scazza 1/24/2011 3:36:00 PM

Takes off eye makeup in one swipe, the gentlest, and cheap! --- I feel like such an idiot for not checking here first before going to Sephora to ask for a gentler eye makeup remover than their dual FACE house brand remover. That product was effective but all the swiping with the cotton balls wasn't gentle enough on my eyes' delicate skin; if I used it for some days in a row the skin would feel irritated. I tried 2 other products both had flaws (both $26: Boscia Makeup Breakup which burned when it got in my eyes; Lancome duo which has the same problem as the FACE product) before I saw these reviews. And voila, the jojoba oil I have 2 bottles of in the house for my skin when it gets irritated or dry, just immediately took all my heavy eye makeup off (eye primer, dark shadow, liquid liner) in one swipe. The oil is much gentler than the duo, softening the cotton ball so there was no scratchiness. Getting in my eyes it just blurrs a bit but no burning, no irritation. Only cons: it would be hard to use it to correct mistakes in eye makeup application since it would stay on the skin and act as a barrier. The bottle can sometimes be messy so I can wrap around a paper towel and secure it with a rubber band.

Eyeliner -NARS - Liquid in Sri Lanka
rated 3 of 5
Scazza 11/26/2010 1:01:00 PM

First of all, I adore NARS for their colors. No one does color like they do. I could go bankrupt. But this liner stung, stings, irritated my sensitive eyes. After a couple of hours it went away, but if anyone has suggestions for applying this so that it doesn't sting, please let me know. It got on my lashes and maybe that's part of the problem. I normally use a twist up black matte pencil (Lancome Le Stylo Waterproof) and have been having trouble making it look great on my eyes; to make a thin or a thick line look right. But with this, the shimmer, color, consistency (though it could be a little thinner), I could draw a sexy Celeopatra eye like nobody's business. The best eye line I have ever made. This would be up there to be a HG of liners if it wasn't for that sting. And the horrible packaging, with it's tiny opening, but I'm going to try storing it upside down like someone else suggested. PRO Color, shimmer Consistency Lasts forever, stays put Results, really brings out your eyes CON Packaging Stings sensitive eyes Need to search for the right separate brush

Treatments (Eye) -Philosophy - Eye Hope Advanced Anti-Aging Eye Cream
rated 5 of 5

I've been using a sample from Sephora for a week after trying many eye treatments including Yonka Phyto Contour cream. Nothing has helped my milia like this. I'm so happy I took the sample. Most eye creams have only made my milia worse. The Yonka got such great reviews for milia and it made them worse!

Mascara -Kiss Me - Kiss Me Mascara
rated 5 of 5
Scazza 9/26/2009 10:21:00 PM

I came from Clinique mascara which I thought was good for sensitive eyes, better than most brands. Blinc is perfect. I *completely* forget I have it on, no more hint of burning or any irritation at all. It lengthens too, though I think the brush could separate better. I could wear this every day where before I thought I'd have to stop wearing things on my eyes at all, except for special occasions.

First of all, the smell is strong at first but immediately goes away as it dries. As someone else said, keep away from tear ducts; I've had no problem with the smell. As soon as it dries it's odorless. Great consistency, light. You don't need much, just a miniscule amount. Second, it increased my milia. Philosophy's Eye Hope has been helping.
