Eyeliner -MAC - Rosemary and Thyme eye kohl
rated 4 of 5
Sass111 5/7/2011 7:02:00 AM

Love the colour, really brings out my green eyes nicely, it's a mid darkish leaf green with gold shimmer. I often wear it on the lower lid with Mac fluidline in New Weed on the top lid...the match is pretty good. Great consistency and easy to apply. I find it lasts well and doesn't smudge horribly, it just slowly wears off rather than leaving green circles under my eyes. Unfortunately every time I use this liner my eyes get itchy and I usually don't react to things easily. I still use it and try not to get too close to the water line - because it just looks really good on me and is a nice eyeliner. I don't wear really dark liners as I am very fair, hair and skin so this colour is pretty perfect if I want something a bit different from my everyday browns. I just wish it didn't make my eyes itchy...other than that it is great.

Blush -Stila - Petunia Convertible Color
rated 2 of 5
Sass111 11/19/2010 5:54:00 AM

I'm not really sold on this, I don't think it is very convertible at all. To me it's really just a blush and doesn't work on the lips because it looks dry, opaque and cakey. It is quite nice on the cheek, a nice coral shade, better for the warmer toned skin, however not too bad on cool toned skin, I can certainly get away with it. It's really very average, I think becca cream blush is better and does work pretty well on the lip too though it's not indicated for the lip and so is BB pot rouge, pot rouge is truly the lip and cheek product and so far the only one I've found that does a perfect job of both cheek and lip. Stila CC texture is simply wrong for lips IMO. Cheap and not always entirely functional packaging too. Maybe the other shades are better, I haven't tried them but I won't be buying this one again.

Skincare - Body -Thursday Plantation - Tea Tree Oil
rated 5 of 5
Sass111 11/19/2010 1:25:00 AM

Yes, I just have to confirm everything the reviewer 'user24678' said about this product. I too use it similarly for pimples, cuts, insect bites. Anything that I think may need an antibacterial on it. I used it for an ear infections once, diluted in water and used a dropper to put it in my ear and it was all fixed in a two days. I notice when I used this stuff on pimples it will dry up and heal the ones that are nearly finished or not major, but if it is a pimple that hasn't run its course it will bring it to a head very quickly and then it will clear up. Brilliant stuff, I always have a bottle on hand. I believe it is antifugal, antibacterial, antiviral and can be used for head lice, pimple, cold sores, bites, insect repellent, mouth gargle, and more. It does not gain a resistance to bacteria like antibiotics do as it is a naturally occurring essential oil. Personally I wouldn't be without it.

Deodorants -Thursday Plantation - Tea Tree Anti-Perspirant
rated 5 of 5
Sass111 11/19/2010 1:08:00 AM

I utterly love this deodorant... it really is the only one that doesn't have aluminium AND still works. I believe a lot of other 'aluminium free' deodorants still have something called alum salts which are essentially the same thing as aluminium in that it stops you from perspiring. This product doesn't actually stop you from perspiring as far as I know, but I am not a big sweater anyway, so that one is hard for me to tell. But even so I do sweat, I am human and this is absolutely amazingly fantastic because it seems that the tea tree and other botanical ingredients really kill off any bacteria that might cause odor. The smell is quite strong but you do get used to it, it is a fairly strong herbal smell but I am much happier with that than using aluminium under my arms everyday. I have used this for years and never found another one as good. I can wear it all day in the middle of a steaming hot summer and I still smell like roses at the end of the day...lol. No, really I don't get any body odor at all with this. It's brilliant and safe. I use it quite liberally under my arms I do think a good liberal application makes it work the best. Then I just let it dry off and put my top on. Even though I wasn't wild about the smell, (it's ok though) I have had someone comment that I was wearing a nice perfume, which kind of made me laugh because it was just the deodorant as I don't wear perfume ever. I think it mellows out after being on your skin for a while too and it's not a fake perfume smell, it is natural herb smell, I prefer this to fake perfume which gives me a headache and makes me feel sick. My bottle says Thursday Plantation Tea Tree Deodorant...it doesn't seem to say antiperspirant but I am pretty sure I am talking about the right product. So top marks for this, to my knowledge, being the only deodorant on the market that doesn't contain any aluminium in any form and still does an amazing job of combating body odour and wetness. I have copied the ingredient in abbreviated form (therefore not the long herb name, just the short ones) into the ingredients list at the top of the page for anyone who is interested. Also this is what Thursday's say about their deodorant: * Contains 95% Certified Organic Ingredients * Certified by the USDA and the Organic Food Chain * Contains 100% pure Tea Tree Oil * Contains 100% naturally derived ingredients * Aluminium free * Low-irritant * Free from polysorbates, petrochemicals, propylene glycol, lauryl sulphates, synthetic fragrances, synthetic colours, preservatives, synthetic parabens and animal derived ingredients

Moisturizers -Sukin - Facial Moisturiser
rated 5 of 5
Sass111 11/18/2010 6:48:00 AM

Absolutely lovely moisturiser, I use it everyday. This brand is an Australian natural skincare range. And there is just one face moisturiser, no oily, dry or combination options. However this is just a brilliant moisturiser. I have combination, slightly dry skin. This absorbs beautifully, leaves my skin feeling soft, hydrated and comfortable. I have a bit of thing about using as natural as possible moisturiser, which is a bit weird because I have plenty of makeup that is by no means natural. But I just feel like the moisturiser is the most important part of my face care routine, it is the thing that stays on my skin most of the time and sits between my skin and makeup. I am less fussed about cleanser ingredient as it is on and washed off quickly. I don't know if this is entirely logical, but it is what I do. So anyway this is always makes my skin feel really lovely, never clogs or causes breakout, my skin feels calm and smooth, never too oily either. I think it really would work for most skin types, possibly very oily skin may not like it but I am not sure, it might still be alright even for them. The price is insanely good AUD$9-10 for 125ml ..it simply doesn't get better than that for what I think is a fabulous moisturiser. I was using Perfect Potions moisturiser before (another Aus brand that does natural formulation) and that was also very good and they have a moisturiser for oily or dry. Though I did feel the oily one in that brand was a little too stingy. Sukin moisturiser is never stingy. Packaging could do with some improvement but seriously I can't complain for the price. Basically, I love it and hopefully it will continue to stay as well priced therefore very accessible to everyone.

Pressed Powders -MAC - Mineralize Skinfinish Natural - Light
rated 5 of 5
Sass111 11/17/2010 4:11:00 AM

I love the way this feels, it is quite creamy feeling for a powder, not at all drying. I also use Body Shop Nature's Minerals too and they are pretty good I like them and the shade 02 in TBS is probably a better match than the 'Light' I have in this one. But the Light does actually work for me and doesn't make me look pasty or unnatural. And it is not too yellow for me. I have pink undertones and strong yellow bases make me look awful, kind of green. So it is a good neutral tone. The feel and texture are the very best part of this powder, my skin can be a bit dehydrated now that I am older, so this is perfect and doesn't show up any flakey bits. And doesn't leave me feeling itchy or dry. I use this very similarly to the TBS mineral powder, so therefore just when I want a light coverage to even my skin tone but not look like I am wearing foundation. I like the feel of this much better than the TBS mineral powder. So if you can find a colour match this is a much better product, TBS isn't bad though. I have reasonable skin, very few lines but a bit patchy and ruddy at times and some pigmentation around the jaw line and this powder just evens it out but does not cover it up. And that's all I expect and want from it. I might have to be careful in summer that this shade isn't too light, although I never try to tan my face, but Australia is a hot country, so it happens sometimes. I don't know how the medium shade would work for me but probably would be too dark as I always lean more to the pale side of things. I might have to give medium a try if I get the chance. I didn't purchase this myself, a friend gave it to me so no complaints there, I'm loving it. I don't know my mac shade but at a educated guess I would be NW20. In revlon color stay I am Nude200 and that is pretty damn near perfect match for me. I use my TBS mineral brush to apply this (great brush btw -see my review of it) and the powder picks up on the brush very easily and liberally, i apply it in circular strokes and the coverage is even and smooth and very natural looking on me. Great packaging, always happy about a hinged lid and love love love that it is not a loose powder and a pressed powder instead because they are much easier and less messy to use, the compact could do with a mirror, however I don't really need one as I am not a big re-applier of makeup during the day anyway and if I did I would probably go use a bathroom mirror anyway. Seems like lots of product but too early for me tell how long it will last. No irritation and no breakouts for me either.

Foundations -The Body Shop - Nature's Minerals Foundation
rated 4 of 5
Sass111 11/16/2010 12:35:00 AM

When I don't want to look like I am wearing make up but just need to even out my skin a bit, this is what I use. The coverage is quite light and personally I don't think it should be layered on heavily or it would feel and look cakey and awful, but I think that about all foundations, why would anyone pile on a lot of foundation, it never looks good, unless your on TV wearing stage makeup. But applied lightly with the TBS mineral foundation brush using circular strokes to get even light and well laid down coverage then it looks great. But it is not IMO to be used for full coverage. I have shade 02 and the women in the shop tried to sell me the next lighter shade down but thank god I went for this one or I would have ended up looking floured. This looks quite dark in the pot but on the skin comes off a bit lighter, see my photo above. I particularly like the jar because of the fine mesh dispenser which allows moderate amounts of product through instead of the likes of Everyday minerals which has huge holes and the entire jars contents just ends up in the lid. This jar is excellent in that respect and I have had very little wastage. I actually don't like using loose powder and find them quite irritating to use due to the mess they create, but this passes the grade and I would buy it again, although it really is over priced and I think I might try and get the same thing for a fraction of the price else wear and transfer it into my TBS jar. It's $39.95 AUD. Others mentioned it feeling greasy, I didn't have a problem with this, but I am combination dryish skin so maybe that's why. I am 40 too so my skin is a lot less oily than when I was younger and I can tolerate more moisture on my skin now. This shade didn't oxidise or change colour on me, but that also can sometimes be to do with your particular skin, not always the products fault or so I have heard.

Mascara -Stephane Marais - Mascara Comb
rated 5 of 5
Sass111 11/15/2010 5:58:00 AM

Really good mascara, once dry it does not budge at all. I can give my eye a good rub and it won't smudge a bit. Which is brilliant as I can often absent mindedly rub my eyes, so this stuff suits me down to the ground. The comb is nice as all others have said. It sets on the lash and feels totally dry and quite stiff to touch but looks really nice, it helps my fair lashes show up. I have the brown one, can't remember the number, it's a nice natural shade for me. Separate the lashes well and I think it has a lengthening effect or it might just be that you can actually see all of my lash because normally you can't due to them being blondish. Pity it is discontinued. I would definitely have repurchased.

Foundations -Yves Saint Laurent - Perfect Touch Radiant Brush Foundation
rated 3 of 5
Sass111 11/5/2010 10:52:00 PM

Nice foundation, medium coverage, blends beautifully ..really top marks on the foundation itself. BUT what is with the crap application system. It is totally ridiculous. The brush is useless and causes streaking in a product that would otherwise blend very well. And trying to get the accurate amount of product onto the brush is irritatingly difficult. I have often gently squeezed the bottle to try to bring just a little up at a time and ended up with tonnes coming out, big waste of an expensive product. Another time I squeezed it gently and a blob flew out and landed on my clothing permanently staining it! Plus the whole brush idea is unhygienic and difficult to clean. What a real pity this all is because it is a lovely lovely foundation and I would definitely have purchased it again if it had not been for the insane packaging. Shade #1 (see photo I added above) is quite light and pretty neutral toned, probably leaning to ever so slightly more yellow than pink, it is best for truly fair skin and a bit too light if you are leaning towards fair/medium skin. I probably could have gone up a shade but I get away with this because it blends very well and looks very natural. It has a lovely texture too, quite light almost watery consistency (in a good way) and not at all sticky. A very natural looking and luminous foundation, with good coverage but really never looks heavy, it just become part of my skin. Such a pity about the packaging though.

Cleansers -Neutrogena - Extra Gentle Cleanser
rated 5 of 5
Sass111 10/26/2010 7:14:00 PM

Excellent and truly extra gentle, I use this to remove makeup (even when I use colorstay foundation) and it is really great. Some others say it doesn't remove all your makeup which surprises me. Because it does with me. I put a decent amount on and massage it around thoroughly, around the eyes and everywhere and let it sit on my skin for a bit to lift the makeup and rinse thoroughly and that works a treat. Makeup all gone. And skin still nice, smooth, soft and most of all not irritated or dry! A wonderful product when my skin is feeling sensitive or irritated. Although it is the only thing I use to remove makeup regardless of whether my skin is feeling good or not. It's just so soft and smooth and kind to my skin. I don't like having my skin stripped of all its oils, I don't like that tight, itchy squeaky clean feeling. So very good for a more mature skin too. Packaging is pretty good, although I wish the pump could more easily be screwed down or closed off for travelling. I pay around $14 AUD for this which is fairly good but it did used to be about $10 and I was much happier with that price..of course. I highly recommend this product, I have used it for years and will continue to do so.

Blush -Cargo - Catalina
rated 4 of 5
Sass111 10/24/2010 6:59:00 AM

A bright light lollypop pink, I have to apply this very lightly as it is highly pigmented. So it will last me forever, I doubt I will ever have to repurchase as I will be 80 before this is all gone. It is a good cool toned true clean pink. When applied lightly it is great, gives me a nice lift. English rose kind or colour. The texture is a bit chalky, I have another Cargo Blush in 'the big easy' which is not chalky so the formulation seems a little different. Still it is pretty good and seems to have quite good staying power. Packaging is average, I prefer hinged lids. Tonnes of product in this container though.

Blush -Cargo - The big easy
rated 5 of 5
Sass111 10/24/2010 6:53:00 AM

Beautiful light peachy shade, I don't wear a lot of peaches as I am cool toned but I can get away with this one. It's lovely. It's actually quite a good everyday neutral blush for me. Gives me a nice healthy natural bit of colour, like I got a winsy bit of sun. Nice smooth formula, I have the shade 'Catalina' as well and that seems to be a chalkier texture whereas this one is not, its smoother. Loads of product in the container, I'll probably never run out of this. Packaging is not really ideal, but as I rarely carry makeup around in my bag it is not a major issue for me. It looks quite attractive though but I always think a hinged lid is more practical and a semi air tight lid would be best too. This lid feels like it could get a bit loose if carried around a lot.

Blush -NYX - Rouge Cream Blush - Glow
rated 4 of 5
Sass111 10/24/2010 6:41:00 AM

This shade is quite similar to BB pot rouge Pale Pink except it's more coral, I added a photo above that shows them side by side. So this is a pale coral pink, more pink than coral. I have cool toned skin and fair hair and it works for me, I can't do many coral colours either. Very creamy soft formula which is super easy to blend and no tugging at the skin. I have even been able to use this colour on my lips as it is not drying. Amazingly good product for the price, I don't like it as much as my BB pot rouge though. but it is a good product. and good packaging with the hinged lid which I wish BB rouges had.

Blush -MAC - Sheertone Blush in Coygirl
rated 4 of 5
Sass111 10/24/2010 6:34:00 AM

First I do love the sheertone blushers they are an excellent good quality product. However this shade is not my favourite, I did use it for quite a while and thought it was ok until I tried dollymix which I love. It is a cool toned blush but it was a bit too purply or mauvey for my liking. It looked a bit dirty on my skin which is very fair. I prefer a more true pink or clean pink. I think it would suit a slightly darker skin. On the right person this would be great everyday blush. I did actually happily use it everyday until I found other shades I liked better and realised it was not entirely the best colour for me. Great formula, smooth and easily blended. Great packaging with the hinged lid too.
