Powder -Make Up For Ever - Duo Mat Powder foundation
rated 4 of 5
Sarah613 6/25/2012 11:16:00 PM

I would give this a 4.5. It is a great powder foundation, probably the best I have ever tried (I have tried everything from revoln to Cle de peau ). Only reason I wouldn't give it 5 stars is because I have to reapply probably 2X a day, but I am very oily. I have been using this for 4-5 years on and off and always come back to it. I love that it can give light smooth coverage with a brush or concealer like coverage with the sponge. I also can set my under eye concealer with this and it doesn't irritate my eyes. When I wear this powder people comment on how I have wonderful skin, and really it is blotchy with old acne marks... I can't understand the bad reviews about breaking out though. I have really bad acne prone skin and this stuff has never bothered me, in fact I cleared up a bout of studiofix acne by using this again. I hope they didn't change the formula bc I am almost out and need to pick up a new compact.

Other -Unlisted Brand - Spearmint Tea
rated 5 of 5
Sarah613 7/6/2009 2:17:00 AM

Ok, I think this is working! hallelujah! I have been drinking 2-4 strong cups a day for about 2 weeks. I got through that time of the month with just one minor zit, and that when I started drinking it. Since then my skin has been clear. This is amazing since for the past 6 months nothing has been working for me, its like I got used to my skin care. I don't want to jinx it, and I may be reviewing it a bit too soon, but I will update after this month is through. BTW I like the taste of it, I drink the Yogi Green tea with mint (2nd ingredient is Spearmint) and I also drink the Natural Medicinals Organic Spearmint. So one for the morning, and then the decaf version at night :) Also great iced, very refreshing since it;s summer.

Blush -Christian Dior - DiorBlush - Strawberry Sorbets 943
rated 5 of 5
Sarah613 3/15/2009 2:00:00 PM

Def the best blush I have ever bought and I have pretty much tried them all. I love the color on my NC20 skin. I use the darker shade on the apples of my cheeks and then sweep some of the lighter one on my cheek bones. It is very natural looking and pretty, like the color I normally flush. It was hard trying to find a blush color that was a natural 'blushing' shade , Nars and cargo had nothing similar that I could find at sephora. The smell doesn't bother me nor does it make me break out. It also goes on very smooth and lasts forever on my oily skin.

Fragrances -Escada - Ocean Lounge
rated 3 of 5
Sarah613 3/14/2009 8:58:00 PM

Meh, I am very dissapointed with this years Escada fragrance. Every year I look forward to the newest one and this is my least favorite so far (I have been getting then since Sexy Graffiti which is prob my fav out of all of them) I feel that it smells watered down, as if it's missing something, maybe it doesn't smell as complex to me, almost as if its just strawberry water. Also it doesn't seem to last as long as the other fragrances. Sorry it's hard to explain what it is about it that I don't like. I prefer last years Moon Sparkle to this and am glad I still have about half a bottle left. For being called Ocean Lounge it doesn't really remind me of the ocean, just a watery strawberry smoothie. I would really like to give this a 2.5.

Mascara -Cover Girl - Lash Blast
rated 4 of 5
Sarah613 12/5/2008 11:43:00 PM

Ok this isn't the perfect mascara but probably the best I have used so far, and I have tried A LOT. I would definitely agree that it is better than Dior Show for a fraction of the price. It seperates, its never clumpy, it doesn't smudge, and never flakes for me. It also makes my fine straight lashes look a lot larger. I will buy over and over, infact I'm on my third tube.

Eye Shadow -Bare Escentuals - Celestine Eye Glimmer
rated 5 of 5
Sarah613 7/5/2008 2:25:00 AM

Celestine is my everyday eye shadow. When I don't feel like messing with liner I just swipe this on with my BE tapered shadow brush and I'm set. The color to me is a medium taupe, although I can see the slight purple and silver in it that others see, I myself would not call it purple. It is an interesting color that goes very well with my medium brown eyes, and I will definitely purchase again :) BTW I am also pretty pale and this goes well with my skin tone, and I could see it going well with darker tones as well.

Skincare - Face -Shu Uemura - Depsea water
rated 5 of 5
Sarah613 6/14/2008 1:18:00 AM

I really ended up loving this stuff. I got it in orange blossom and all though I was expecting more of an orange scent its pleasent and nice smelling. It really really does help your moisturizer go on better if you spritz before. I use it only in the morning since its pretty expensive and thats when I want my skin to look its smoothest. I dont know if its a coincidence but since I started using this I have had no flakies (which I usually do since I use so many acne products) and have been getting a lot of compliments on my skin. :) Like others have said, I don't know if its an absolute necessity but I will keep buying in fact I just ordered rose and can't wait to get it!

Polishes -NARS - Orgasm
rated 3 of 5
Sarah613 5/18/2008 3:53:00 AM

Hmmm, ok this is not the worst shade of polish I've ever owned, however, for the price it should really wow me. In the bottle it appears to me to be peachy pink, slightly more peach than the gloss and blush. However on my nails (2 coats) it is just plain peach, I really don't see pink in there at all. I attribute this to the gold sparkles in it, once the polish dries down they are left on top and block any pink from view, making it almost orange in some lights. I am fairly pale (about NC20) and I don't think that this looks terrible on me, but its not the most complimenting either. As someone else said already, this would look very pretty on someone tanner or darker. In all I am a tad dissapointed since I wanted this set so much, and I would really like to give it a 2.5. Also, I have never tried NARS polishes before, but this one seems a bit thick going on for how sheer it is with one coat. I didn't like the consistency and it tended to go on streaky, but it could have just been my bottle. I would not repurchase if I could (this is LE right?), and I think OPI or Orly, or even DS polishes are much much better. PS for fair gals like me, try Elephantastic Pink by OPI it looks really really great against pale skin for spring/summer

Blush -Cargo - Catalina
rated 2 of 5
Sarah613 4/24/2008 7:01:00 PM

Ugh, ya know I was really looking forward to trying Catalina. I was wanting it for a while, and when I swapped away my beloved Sunshine Coast SuedeBlush, I decided it was time to try Catalina. It is very matte, no shimmer at all. Which isn't a bad thing but with a blush this bright Barbie pink, matte just seems a bit strange. I find the blush a bit harder to blend than other Cargo blushes, and it doesn't seem to last as long as others as well. The color is ok, I am NC15-20ish and its not that it doesn't suit me, it just doesn't wow me either. It's a little blah, which is hard to imagine for how bright pink it is (ok its not fluorescent) I wouldn't buy again.

Cleansers -Aveeno - Ultra-Calming Foaming Cleanser
rated 5 of 5
Sarah613 4/7/2008 2:04:00 AM

I really like this cleanser, I'm really glad I bought it and didn't listen to the reviews on here or else I would have really missed out! I have acne prone skin that is oily but at the same time very dry in areas. I guess maybe a lot of the dryness comes from my arsenal of acne products and over the winter I noticed that my skin was a lot more irritated and red (may have also been from trying a new mineral makeup). I started using this and the redness and dryness went away. I think it does a great job of cleansing and doesn't leave my skin tight or dry. I only use this in the morning though so I don't really know if it does a great job of removing makeup. Overall if you have skin like mine: easily irritated, prone to acne, dry but at the same time oily, then give this a try!

Powder -Shiseido - The Makeup Powdery Foundation SPF 15
rated 2 of 5
Sarah613 3/21/2008 4:41:00 PM

I have mixed feelings about this powder makeup. I really liked the finish however I couldn't find the right color for me. I got matched with Ivory00 and it looked a little pinkish on me. I have neutral/yellow undertones and the O20 was way too dark, I wish they made O00, maybe that would be a good match. It also didn't have as good of coverage as MUFE duo mat and doesn't have nearly as many color choices. Oh well :(

Powder -Laura Mercier - Mineral Powder SPF 15
rated 3 of 5
Sarah613 3/10/2008 3:31:00 AM

OK I gave the whole line (the mineral powder, the loose powder and the primer) a good week and a few days try. What I like: The packaging is great, I used to use Bare Minerals and this blows that out of the water with the sifter that closes and the larger lid. The texture is also a million times finer and better than BE. I also love the subtle glow it gives my skin. When I wear this it makes my skin look just like clean skin. Also I think it has good staying power. The Cons, however, out weigh the Pros. 1)I couldn't find a good match, and I knew buying 'Real Sand' that it looked a little darker than my fair skin tone, but the other 2 lighter colors were too light or too pink. Also there really isn't any yellow undertones in Real Sand, which I have and also like to have since besides matching my skin tone it helps to reduce the redness in my cheeks. This was more of a true light beige. 2) Although I loved the way it looked on my skin, I only like it about 30 mins after I applied it, when first applied I thought it looked powdery, and once I applied it in direct sunlight and holy crap I looked dreadful! Like a powdery old lady! And I'm 24! Also I like to touch up during the day and I can't stay in the bathroom for 30 mins til I look good again for this to 'set' with my naturl oils 3)I have very oily acne prone skin, although I didn't break out from this I feel it made my skin overly dry and patchy which I am certainly not used to. Maybe it would be better in the summer, but my skin has definelty been acting weird since I started using this, maybe overall a little redder. 4) And here's the big one..NO COVERAGE! I found that there was minimal coverage, it did not cover any of my acne scars at all, I had to go over it with concealer, which is the only thing I liked about Bare Minerals that it covered well. I like a makeup that at least tries to cover up, or whats the point? This is great if you have really great skin and just want to even it out. BTW this also made my pores larger looking. Sorry to rant on, I was just so excited to use this and am a little dissapointed. I think for the money (I spent 97 USD on the mineral powder, the setting powder, and the primer!!) this should be a lot better. I think this is way too much to spend to have to end up going over it with concealer after applying three layers of powder. Oh BTW I tried it with a kabuki brush and the BE Flawless Face Brush.

Powder -Bare Escentuals - Bare Minerals in 1.2, fairly light
rated 3 of 5
Sarah613 2/26/2008 2:50:00 AM

I'm not sure if I would buy this again. I used it for about 2 and a half years and I really liked it for most of that time, it was pretty much the first foundation I ever used and I liked how it was a powder and when buffed into my skin it just melted in. And thats the secret to it I think, its all in the buffing, even if just lightly. I don't know if a lot of people don't know how to use it but you have to put a small amount into the top of your BE container, swirl it into the brush good, tap off excess and then buff into your skin in light swirling movements, its a science really lol, but thats how you are suppose to use it. I always did this and loved the coverage, I thought it held up very well to sweat and oil, and only touched up during the day if I had pimples. Now this brings me to the point where I tell you why I am wary about using this again. I started to have massive adult acne before I started using this and I thought using this might help due to all the stuff about MMU being good for you. Well it didn't really help, and 2 years later I still had bad acne. I stopped using this and started using MUFE Duo Mat and I cleared up. I also did start a new skin care regimine, so I don't know which one really made the difference, but I'm too scared to try it again to find out lol. I miss the "glow" of it though, I think Duo mat makes you look like you have a mask on it's too flat.

Concealers -Make Up For Ever - Extreme Camouflage Cream
rated 4 of 5
Sarah613 2/25/2008 1:45:00 AM

I really do love this concealer, and although I think it takes a while to get the coverage I need on my acne scars it does do the job well. I also think it gets a bit cakey on my skin at the end of the day, and maybe fades a little more than I would like. What I really love to use it for is my undereye circles. When i first tried it for this it went on cakey and dry..not good. HOWEVER, I mixed it with my eye cream (Clinique All About eyes, but I'm sure others would work well) and WOW, it goes on smooth, doesn't crease and completley covered my under eye circles! I also love how its Matte and not shimmery like other concealers. This helps to not make my puffiness stand out as well. BTW, the ratio of eyecream to concealer is about 1:1, I have tried a bit more concealer on somedays that I needed it though and it still worked great.

Lip Gloss -Christian Dior - DiorKiss-Snow Cherry
rated 5 of 5
Sarah613 2/23/2008 11:40:00 PM

oh I loooove Snow Cherry DiorKiss, it smells sweet and has a beautiful sparkley pinky color thats not too light or too dark, with a hint of purple. By the way I tried another Diorkiss and it tasted terrible (Spicy Guava aka Spicy Poison), this has no after taste
