Wow. This winter has been harsh ... and my skin seconds that! I have been searching for my once flawless skin for about 4 years now ... and I just cannot figure out what the heck is going on. Products made for dry skin make my skin oily. And products for oily skin quickly dry my skin up and make it IMPOSSIBLE for even the MOST expensive foundation to look remotely decent on me. Enter .... Bobbi Brown's Brightening Intensive Serum. I am an avid makeupalley reader ... and my belief was always that Bobbi Brown is a MAKEUP maven and that I should turn ELSEWHERE for skincare. Well ... this serum is the ONLY thing that has NOT broken me out and has actually managed to BALANCE the moisture content in my skin. My cheeks are now the SAME plumpness as my chin as is my forehead to my nose. Before this serum .... different areas of my face were acting like they were from different people. I need balance and I needed it fast. NO breakouts whatsoever ... no greasiness and best of all ... I feel like my face as a whole is ALL from the same person once again. I am going to try more of her products now ... because this one really seemed to do the job. The BB sales person also gave me a sample of the Bobbi Gel Cream moisturizer to dab on top of the serum during the day for "surface" moisture until my skin gets back on track and it is working quite well! Thanks Bobbi Brown!

Lip Gloss -Chanel - Magnifique Glossimer 83
rated 5 of 5

I have just become a lipgloss wearer. I was always a lipstick and lipliner type girl but I noticed that it made my whole appearance more "make-up-y" and I wanted a fresher look. I was afraid that my lips would disappear into my face and that my lips couldn't look as full without a lipliner. Well let me tell you...I am a full convert to THIS lipgloss. Others have not done the job but this gloss adds color and "umph" to my lips. And the best part is .... it looks WAY more natural as it fades than a typical lipstick/lipliner look. I LOVE this color and the staying power is awesome. The consistency is smooth and not "galactic" looking ...some Chanel glossimers tend to look too silvery on me...this one is beautiful! I would feel comfortable going day to night with this anytime! Add a deeper bronzer or pinl blush and you would literally be red carpet ready! LOVE LOVE LOVE! The price is worth it girls..... when you find something this versatile you just HAVE to pull out the cash! ;-)

Lipstick -Paula Dorf - Rose Quartz

This is a beautiful color! And the perfect creme consistency! Think of this as what color you would use if you wanted that "Disney Character" look. It completes and really solidifies the perfect flawless look. I feel like Belle from Beauty and the Best or Jasmine from Aladdin.....creamy perfectly pinkish beige lips. The lipstick is great by itself and looks AMAZING for day and night!

Crème -MAC - Mineralize Foundation

This product is my HG.... BUT you must use the MAC brush 109 and PUSH it into your skin (don't swipe or swirl). If you PAT it into your skin with the tip of the bristles (in a quick tapping manner) you will get the coverage that ALL crave without the cakey look....it will go into your skin and will look FLAWLESS.... like airbrush picture flawless. I realize now that the SWIRLING doesn't allow me the coverage or texture that I have always craved. The quick tapping and this product are HG. I then take the same brush and tap the MAC prep+prime powder....and literally get stopped a zillion times wherever I go....sometimes it's even annoying when I'm late....people are THAT impressed. I got NC 25 and it's great for my light Asian skin....will have to go NC30 when summer gets here...but this is the flawless look that I wouldn't even be embarrassed to go to the gym, boating, beach with.... when you look cakey it just looks ridiculous to go to these types of event with "makeup" on....this just looks like PERFECT skin...and trust me I'm a perfectionist!!!!!!

Moisturizers -La Mer - Creme de la mer moisturizer
rated 5 of 5

Ok ladies. I am probably the person Sephora, Nordstroms, Macy's...you name it..... dreads the most because I am the QUEEN of taking things back. But I don't ENJOY doing it.... I just want the staples that I buy to be flawless and amazing. I don't care WHAT it costs...I just want it to work. Enter Creme De La Mer. I have heard of this brand over and over and over. I've bought products MORE expensive and LESS expensive and I think I've probably tried samples from time to time due to boredom and the occasional pushy sales person :) I AM FLOORED AND OVER THE MOON! I tried a sample of the cream-gel and I was surprised because it was not nearly enough moisture and I had always thought of myself as the "creams are too heavy I'll go with the gel" type person. I only use a tiny bit of the cream (I don't dig in my fingers to get it out - I use more of a little sweeping motion off the top with my index finger and then rub my fingers together to pat it on). The texture is almost a whipped mouse consistency when you do it that way and I swear it is going to take me YEARS to get through it the rate I am doing it. My skin is really pretty good. I have some discoloration which is accented a bit because it is reddish in color and I have very delicate light/yellow toned Asian skin. But the texture of it is smooth and glowy. Because of the Winter it is quite dry and I was just trying to combat one problem at a time... starting with dryness. I came home and put a little bit on and VOILA! Two birds with ONE stone. Not only are the dry patches GONE within about two hours...but incredibly the red in my face is gone too. My boyfriend came home from work and said something immediately....and ladies...he's an ENGINEER...and never notices things like that. The SA at La Mer are VERY generous about giving samples so give it a try. The QUEEN of RETURNS gives this cream a 10 THUMBS UP! I bought the foundation and loose powder from La Mer too....since I was on such a lucky streak with the brand.... flawless and amazing.

Loose Powders -MAC - Prep + Prime Transparent Finishing Powder
rated 5 of 5
Sabrina09 7/31/2009 6:30:00 PM

This is the best powder that I had used in terms of setting my foundation without turning my face into a 3 inch thick makeup haven! Let me explain... I usually look like I am wearing make-up (but not too much) before I use powder. But after powdering my face I usually look like a pancake! This stuff is the first powder that I have used that does EXACTLY what a powder should do without looking like a PANCAKE. I've even tried the makeup forever HD white powder...and somehow...this is SO much better. I swear I have used EVERY single powder in the free universe...and this one is the best so far...I went out and bought 5....sometimes I don't trust MAC and their need to discontinue everything that I love.... a true test... I love the look of MAC studio fix fluid...for about 5 minutes...until it gets all cakey and thick - especially under all the powders that I have used in the past. I have been able to wear the foundation flawlessly with the Prep and Prime an it has looked amazing all day. I am combo skin and I like a VERY flawless matte airbrush look...so I reapply once in awhile...but I don't mind...because reapplication isn't a bad thing if it doesn't LOOK bad.....and that's what this powder fixes for me... just try it...most MAC counters are super open to help you test it out...it's one of those products that you can see results immediately...either your pores disappear and you lose shine right away or not...right? Cheers! :)

Liquid -Giorgio Armani - Matte Silk Foundation [DISCONTINUED]
rated 5 of 5
Sabrina09 1/29/2009 10:21:00 PM

Ok- I found this product when I lived in LA working for the Young and the Restless...even on a soap opera set...people were constantly commenting on my flawless face! Here is the caveat though....I used this foundation (6.5) ALWAYS WITH the GA Fluid Sheer in #6. Which is now DISCONTINUED....along with the foundation...so as you can see...I'm basically out my entire face now :/ Anyways...I would pay a TON of money to have either of them back....to everyone out there.....I am new to the site...but would WELCOME any comments about whether or not the rumors that GA is coming out with a new matte foundation are true?!?!?!?! I have not been even remotely happy with any of their other foundations....I am still waiting for something GREAT from GA :) Thanks!
