Lipstick -MAC - Candy Yum-Yum
rated 5 of 5

This is one of those products that brings me back to MAC even after I've vowed that I wouldn't get sucked back into MAC's endless Möbius strip of LE collections. The color is gorgeous and surprisingly wearable on this NW20ish person. The color is unique enough for me to justify adding it to my collection. I swatched all my existing bright pink lipsticks against it and none of them had the neon element that sets this lipstick apart. It is also creamier than the usual matte MAC lipstick. I get complements every time I wear it, so bonus points for that. I am already kicking myself for not buying two of them when I ordered.

Eye Shadow -Lancome - Color Design - Camisole
rated 5 of 5
SMMY 2/2/2010 9:07:00 PM

Just picked this up at my lancome outlet and like most of the Color Design eye shadows, this is a cut above the old Color Focus eye shadows. As mentioned below, it is a lovely plum with gold micro sparkles distributed through out. It pairs nicely with a dark taupe such as Mac's Copperplate. Great eye shadow and very versatile.

Blush -Rock & Republic - Contrived Blush - Spank [DISCONTINUED]
rated 5 of 5
SMMY 10/8/2009 5:00:00 PM

This has to be one of my all time favorite blushes. It is a finely milled matte pale pink that is somewhere in the neutral to cool color spectrum. It is a very soft femine pink blush and especially suitable for more pale complexions. The compact is heavy and ornate. The initial cost is high ($40) but contains twice as much product as NARS blushes, so it is actually less expensive than NARS when adjusted for the price per unit cost. This blush is highly pigmented, so there is no problem with this showing up on my NW20 complexion. It is perfection and I will be very sad if this product line is discontinued as rumors are implying. The products from this line that I have tried have all been excellent.

Blush -Rock & Republic - Contrived Blush - X-Rated
rated 5 of 5
SMMY 10/8/2009 4:51:00 PM

I picked up this blush during the Hautelook sale and absolutely love the quality of these blushes. X-Rated is an extremely bright cool toned pink. It is perfect for the dead of winter when you want a pop of color to perk up your complexion. It is a matte blush and must be applied with a light touch or it will be too much. These blushes are very pigmented and finely milled. I had no difficulty blending the blush and it lasts all day without fading or oxidizing. The compact is beautiful and luxe. It contains 0.32 oz of product as opposed to 0.17 oz for a NARS powder blush, so though more expensive initially, per unit cost is less than NARS. I am hearing rumors that the Rock & Republic makeup line is being discontinued. I will definitely be picking up more of the blushes and eye shadows from this line and am sad if the rumors are true. The products from this line that I have tried have all been excellent quality and well worth the expense.

Eye Shadow -MAC - young punk
rated 5 of 5
SMMY 9/25/2009 7:05:00 PM

I agree with the last reviewer, that this eye shadow is really best applied over a base. It not only keeps fallout down to a bare minimum, but also intensifies the effect of this shadow. The sparkle in these are to die for. Normally I hate mineralized eye shadows, but these I love. They are much smoother and the glitter in these is much finer then previous mineralized eye shadows. I hope MAC keeps the improvements it's made with this formulation for future releases, as it is a big improvement.

One of my favorite pink blushes. It is a lovely pink raspberry color and lasts all day. It has very subtle sparkles and adds a lovely winter's day type flush to my cheeks. NW20 here.

Eyes -MAC - Photo Realism quad Makeup Art Cosmetics Collection
rated 5 of 5
SMMY 8/27/2009 12:28:00 AM

I know that if I tried hard enough, yes I could probably find dupes for some of the shadows in this quad, but it is so beautiful, why would I want to try and improve on what is arguably one of the nicest quads Mac has released in current memory? The greens are stunning and all work well together. They are oddly neutral enough that the quad can either be used for a flattering daytime look, but easily transition into a smoking hot, smoky eye for something more dramatic. The textures are superb and I can't think of anything even close to Imagemaker, a greyed out green duochrome. If I only had the funding for one quad for the Makeup Arts collection, this would be it. It's simply glorious. NW20, light olive to neutral, for reference.

Eye Shadow -MAC - Style Snob [DISCONTINUED]
rated 5 of 5
SMMY 8/22/2009 10:09:00 PM

Beautiful neutral eye shadow. Typical starflash finish, easy to blend and stunning once applied. On me, NW20, it's a softer and lighter taupe than Satin Taupe with a bit of pink to it. If you loved Smoke and Diamonds, then this a definite must have as well.

Eye Shadow -MAC - Strike a Pose - Starflash
rated 5 of 5
SMMY 8/2/2009 12:55:00 AM

For a long time I have been searching for the perfect blackened teal. I was tempted by Chanel's Bois bleu, but the pigmentation was poor and it was hard to blend. Now MAC has released a ton of teals in the past couple of years, but they've always been on the too bright side for me. Strike A Pose, however, is perfect. It is a rich jewel toned teal, perfect for fall, but not too dark. The finish and pigment are superb. No glitter fallout and easy to blend. If you are looking for the perfect shimmery deep teal for this fall, your search is over. Strike A Pose is it.

Lipstick -Maybelline - Color Sensational
rated 5 of 5
SMMY 7/14/2009 11:57:00 PM

I picked these up in Pink of Me and Yummy Plummy. The colors and packaging are very nice. The number of wearable shade available is huge for a drugstore product. The two colors that I picked were very smooth and applied opaquely. The only scent I noticed was a faintly sweet smell, like beeswax, but nothing nearly as bad as say some Bobbi Brown lippies. I have to say that I am very impressed with these lipsticks. They don't bleed and seem to have good staying power. The packaging is lovely and very similar to one of Lancome's lipstick cases. I plan to pick up more of these in other colors. Kudos to Maybelline for again surprising me with another great new product.

Highlighters -MAC - Mineralize Skinfinish in Perfect Topping [DISCONTINUED]
rated 5 of 5
SMMY 3/19/2009 8:33:00 PM

Just picked this up today and I am absolutely in love with it. It reminds me of a pinker version of Lightscapade. Even though it is darker in the pot than Lightscapade, it is definitely a highlighter, not a blush. It does have a pearl finish, so there isn't the nasty glitter fallout that you get with some Msfs, just gorgeous pearly highlighting. I had the MAC MA apply both Refined and Perfect Topping on different sides of my face. I didn't like Refined's finish. It left that greasy oil slick on top of your skin look, that I hated with Shimpagne. Refined also made my pores look gianormous. Perfect Topping did not have the same effect, just a soft pearly finish. The Perfect Topping that I picked out also had enough separation between the color swirls that I could use the colors separately. I have the lavender color on as a brow highlighter right now and it is perfection. Perfect Topping was much softer and prettier a finish, so that one came home with me. It is definitely up there with my other fav. Msfs, Petticoat and Porcelain Pink. Very, very lovely.

Blush -Wet 'n' Wild - Silk Finish blush in Berry Shimmer
rated 5 of 5
SMMY 3/13/2009 5:55:00 PM

NC20 with normal to dry skin here. Picked this up at Walgreens yesterday and love it. It is a warm russet colored blush with fine gold shimmers through out it. It is highly pigmented, but I always use a skunk brush for my more pigmented blushes anyway, so it is easy to control. It lasts all day for me and remained true to the original color. For $2.99, this gives some of my NARS and MAC blushes a run for their money. Fabulous thriftinista find.

Eye Shadow -Bobbi Brown - Long Wear Cream Eyeshadow in Ballet Pink
rated 5 of 5
SMMY 1/20/2009 5:21:00 AM

This is my go to eye shadow for when I want a neutral pink eye. I find it brightens and opens up my eyes, so this is such an easy look for a quick neutral eye in the morning. It does dry quickly, but lasts all day without creasing. I have several of the long wear cream eye shadows, but this one is hands down my favorite.

Lipstick -MAC - Lollipop Loving - Heatherette
rated 5 of 5
SMMY 3/30/2008 12:38:00 AM

For me this is the most fun color of the Heatherette lipstick collection . It is subtle, but different enough to make it worth owning. The green is a lot tamer than I thought it would be, so you don't look like you're going clubbing or something when you wear it. It is a glaze so it is sheer, but it does show up on my fairly pigmented lips. If I want more color I use a lip liner underneath or even better, I apply Sock Hop lipglass first, then apply Lollipop Loving on top of that. It gives more color payoff and allows all the green and gold iridescence to sparkle. I have been using it so much, that I ended up buying a second one of the lipglass and the lipstick, so that I don't have to worry about running out of them so soon. Great and imaginative product from MAC.

Lipstick -MAC - Hollywood Nights - Heatherette
rated 5 of 5
SMMY 3/30/2008 12:27:00 AM

I love this lipstick. It is the perfect fuchsia and it can be worn sheerly for a more subtle pop of color or more heavily applied for a more dramatic lip. It doesn't bleed on me, but does leave a stain after it wears off. It's a Satin, so no frost, but a bit more drying than a Glaze or Amplified Cream, so a balm underneath is recommended. I would purchase this again, if only MAC would make it permanent. Honestly, I would love most of the Heatherette lipsticks to be added to the permanent line. They're so pretty. And the packaging is fun and unlike Fafi, extremely well made.
