The key to this looking good is all about the shade you're using. I do not live near a MAC store so I was forced to order from their site. The shade I initially ordered (c2) was much too yellow and emphasized my large pores since it didn't match my skin. I then ordered nc15 and it's perfect... no more visible pores! Another tip I've learned for better application is using an animal hair brush. They pick up and distribute the powder more evenly onto your face. The synthetic brushes are good for liquid however, since they don't absorb all that much.
Lotions/ Creams -Nivea - Smooth replenishing lotion dry skin
SDSnyds 11/14/2012 8:01:00 PM
I was ready to just give up on lotions altogether and just accept the fact that my skin is itchy and dry. I've tried dozens upon dozens of lotions, creams, you name it and they all weren't moisturizing enough or were too heavy and left a sticky film on my skin. This one easily beats any of them... curel, jergens, nature's gate, keri, aveeno, philosophy, eucerin, lubriderm, neutrogena. None of them come close. This absorbs almost instantly and what you're left with is smooth, supple, glowing skin. I always hated those lotions that were beyond difficult to rub in, almost like you were moisturizing with glue! Not here, this glides over your skin effortlessly. And as for the scent, I love that too. It smells soap and water clean. This may be my new HG body lotion, but only time will tell.
Moisturizers -Curel - Daily Moisture Therapy Lotion - Fragrance Free

I never felt like it fully absorbed into my hands or the skin on my body. The next time I would wash my hands or take a shower my skin would just feel slippery... like I was washing off a coating of lotion. Then my skin went right back to being dry. And when I would have this on my skin didn't feel smooth, just tacky.
Lotions/ Creams -Aveeno - Daily Moisturizing Lotion
SDSnyds 10/26/2012 7:14:00 AM
I like this as a hand lotion, but for my body? No. I thought the idea of moisturizing was to smooth and hydrate your skin? This left my skin feeling sticky and actually more dry than if I had used nothing at all. I'm assuming it's the dimethicone that is contributing to the tacky feeling. On my hands though, it's decent as I don't find it to be greasy.
Powder -Lancome - Dual Finish Versatile Powder Makeup
SDSnyds 10/16/2012 11:50:00 PM
I'm not impressed with anything about this powder. From the shades to the ingredients, it's just all wrong. Almost all of the shades have a pink, warm undertone which doesn't work for my more yellow complexion. This makes your skin feel smooth immediately after applying but when the oil started it felt sticky and heavy. The finish is supposed to be matte, which you would assume would be geared toward oily skin but mineral oil is one of the ingredients! You do get alot of product but since it doesn't work on my oily skin then it's not worth it. Not to mention, lancome's customer service is the worst. I returned this powder for a refund and its been almost 2 months later and still haven't gotten my money back. So thanks for stealing my money and for this terrible powder lancome!
Love this! It's the perfect consistency, not too abrasive and not too weak. I've been using this every morning and my skin never feels irritated or dry, just soft and smooth. I really like that so little of this is needed to exfoliate your face and neck as I hate having to constantly reorder items because of not enough product given. I will never be without this scrub!
First of all, fragrance has never bothered me in cosmetics. If it works, I'll use it even if it smells like feet. With that being said, the smell of this was so strong, so bad and so overpowering I couldn't even use it long enough to find out if it did work. It doesn't make any sense to add such a strong fragrance for a product solely to be applied directly under your nose. As for what this smells like? Having to think about it is even making me nauseous. It literally smells like a barnyard, which is why the name is so fitting. I couldn't stand smelling this for 5 minutes letting alone reapplying throughout the day and having to constantly smell it. This is not a scent I want to get used to. It's now in the trash where it belongs.

This toothpaste is by far my favorite. I actually look forward to brushing because I love the taste and how clean my mouth feels afterward. I hope they never discontinue this one!
Misc Beauty Tools -Clean & Clear - Oil Absorbing Sheets
SDSnyds 10/10/2012 4:25:00 AM
These are a quick fix mid-day when my skin starts to look a little shiny and they've never disturbed the powder foundation I wear but when I looked at what these are made with my jaw practically dropped. Why in the world would mineral oil be in a product used to get rid of oil!? I'm not going to lie, I actually prefer to use the toilet seat covers in restrooms when given the chance. Now those things really work!
I've used this mixed with shampoo and face wash and I didn't really like it either way. It turned my shampoo into a strange texture and it was difficult to wash out of my hair. As for a face scrub, it had the perfect consistency but it burned like hell and made my face bright red. I need a gentle scrub that can be used daily because my oily skin becomes rough and dull looking otherwise. I wouldn't even consider using this daily unless I was trying to burn my skin off. Be careful with this one, the Ph is way higher than that of your skin. Using products with a high Ph can actually damage your skin's natural barrier. And for those of you that think baking soda is all natural, think again. While baking soda is a naturally occuring mineral known as nahcolite, the baking soda that we're buying at the grocery store is artificially produced because it's much cheaper to make.
Deodorants -Suave - 24-Hour Invisible Anti-Perspirant & Deodorant
SDSnyds 9/21/2012 2:38:00 AM
Someone might want to remind Suave what the definition of 'invisible' means because this is the furthest thing from it. With that being said, the fresh scent is pleasant and I like that it's moisturizing and non irritating. I do think it is comparable to other more expensive brands which just so happens to be Suave's sales pitch... just be extra careful when wearing dark colored clothing!
Powders -Unlisted Brand - Menaji HDPV Compact Powder
SDSnyds 9/20/2012 4:13:00 PM
HG powder foundation! The texture and finish is similar to that of studio fix but not as cakey. This lasts 3 times as long too and controls oil like no other powder I've ever used. This very easily could be overly applied though. All you have to do is touch the sponge to the powder and that will be plenty to cover a large section of your face. My only complaint is that this is rather expensive at $35 for .35g. However I'd rather pay more for something I love than try to save on a powder that's just okay.
Cleansers -Derma E - very clear problem skin cleanser
SDSnyds 9/19/2012 4:28:00 AM
Besides treating blemishes, this claimed to help normalize oily skin. FALSE. This actually made my skin more oily but that's probably because my face never really felt clean. I found this very difficult to wash off because of the weird, non-lathering slimey gel/lotion texture. This will not remove even light makeup. One thing I loved was the packaging and that the cap didn't fill with water from being in the shower. But seriously, there's better options out there.
I figured this was going to be a gentle facial cleanser but boy was I wrong. It made my skin feel dry and not very clean at the same time. Trying to get this to lather is a joke, you might get 2 or 3 bubbles if you're lucky. This also irritated my eyes and burned the inside of my nose even when I was being extra careful around those areas.
For the price, you can't beat this brush. However, I felt like this didn't hold loose or pressed powder very well and it was impossible to apply powder to more than one small area at a time. Because of this, it made my face look like a powdered doughnut. I can't comment on how it applies liquid foundation because I don't wear liquid on my oily skin. I'll stick to using the sponge in my compact. It's faster and gives me better coverage.
