Cleansers -Unlisted Brand - Pure Cleansing Gel
Ruthone 3/21/2012 10:24:00 AM
THIS IS FOR LUZERNE PURE CLEANSING GEL>>>>> I bought this after seeing it featured in several magazines as a celebrity go to cleanser for sensitive skin. Thought I'd give it a try since I was running out cleanser. The packaging is a simple no frills white bottle with pump. Has a very slight fragrance, very pleasant. Doesn't foam at all but slides over skin easily. When product is rinsed off it leaves a lotion-y feel. My skin felt very hydrated and no irritation or redness at all. That night when I came home from work I used two pumps working product in, rinsed, looked in mirror and saw my foundation was still on...crap. This stuff does not remove makeup even a little. I still had most all my eye makeup on and rivers of foundation all over my face. If you don't wear makeup this would be a wonderful cleanser. I'm actually using Peter Thomas Roth to cleanse off makeup at night and using the Luzern in the AM when I wake up..love the way it makes my skin feel. I'll use the entire bottle for sure but doubt I'll repurchase cuz I really wanted to use it night and day. Who knows maybe I got a bad bottle of product but I'm not willing to lay down $38 to find out.

Skincare - Face -Ole Henriksen - Sheer Transformation Creme
Ruthone 7/21/2011 8:25:00 AM
I don't like this product very much. I've had it for about 2 to 3 weeks and have seen zero positive results. No lightening, no wrinkle softening not anything. It's described as a light cream that sinks into skin immediately, not really. It feels very heavy to me and seems to sit on my skin for hours. I've also noticed an increase in black heads since a few days after I started using this. I do have oilier skin in the summer time so who knows maybe when the weather cools this will be just the thing for winter dry skin but for the rest of the summer it's going to the 'what a waste of money bin' in my bathroom closet...my suggestion is to leave this on on the shelf.

Styling Products -Matrix - Biolage Smoothing Serum [DISCONTINUED]
Ruthone 11/2/2009 8:33:00 AM
This product is just OK for me. I use it before I blow out my hair and then flat iron. If the weather isn't crappy this stuff gives my hair a lovely shine and great control. If it's humid or rainy this does nothing for me. My hair still gets frizzy and puffy. I'm still looking for my magic humid control serum.

Cleansers -Kinerase - Gentle Daily Cleanser
Ruthone 11/2/2009 8:08:00 AM
I bought this because of a recommendation from an esthy friend who raves about all things Kinerase. I must say that I'm happy with it so far. It hasn't caused my skin to break out, or feel dry and tight. The instructions on the bottle say to use two pumps, but that's way too much. My secret is to put one pump on my finger tip, wet the palm of my hand and work into a generous lather..then apply it to my face. Works like a charm and saves product. This I've found also lathers really well with my Clarisonic brush. All in all a good cleanser and I'll probably buy it again if I ever run out of the bottle I already have..lot of product to get through.

Misc Beauty Tools -Clean & Clear - Oil Absorbing Sheets
Ruthone 5/14/2009 7:06:00 AM
Love these things. I've got really oily skin so about an hour after I put on makeup I've got a shiney nose. Since powder isn't an option(because I hate that look)these are a god send. It completely removes the oil without removing any of my makeup. I'll be buying these until they quit making them.

Moisturizers -Merle Norman - LUXIVA® PREVENTAGE™ Firming Defense Creme Normal/Oily
Ruthone 3/29/2009 8:05:00 AM
I'm a bit of a skincare snob so it pains me to give this a good rating, lol! A friend of mine works at a MN studio and has passed on some of their products for me to try and this was one of those. I'm picky about moisturizer but decided to give this a go since it was free. When I applied it I thought ok this sucks because it goes on very greasy looking and was going to wash it off when my hubby called me out of the bathroom to help with something. Well 10 mins later I go into wash it off glance in the mirror and am amazed...the greasy mess is gone and my skin looks smoother without some of the redness I normally see after washing my face. I'm a week in of using this stuff and really didn't want to like it but I have to say I do. I only gave it 4starts because I hate the packaging, the whole dipping your finger in to get cream is icky. ***EDIT*** Well after a couple weeks use this stuff has screwed up my skin. I started getting cystic bumps on my chin which isn't unusual, I normally get one or two that time of month. This however was taking place at a different time in the month and it was around 4 at one time. I can usually get rid of them pretty quickly cuz I've found a way that works for me but I'd no more get rid of one than two more would take it's place. So I stopped using the moisturizer and within two days I noticed a difference in my chin, no newbies popping up. The ingredients listing on this stuff is scary and I don't know why it would be marketed for oily skin, but it was free and I thought I'd give it a go. Now it's going in the trash....yuck!

Foundations -LORAC - Natural Performance Foundation
Ruthone 3/1/2009 8:26:00 AM
I bought this at Sephora after trying a million foundations that all looked too dark or too yellow. The SA who helped me didn't seem to understand I wanted her to match my neck rather than my face cuz I have traces of Melasma left over from being pregnant so my face is quiet a bit darker than the rest of my body and that every foundation I try tends to oxidize to a lovely shade of orange. We finally found what I thought was a good match...until I tried it the next day. I put some on before I was going out shopping and thought it looked orangey but assumed it must be the lighting. When I went to tell the family I was leaving my hubby looked at me weird and asked what I had on my face that was making it look dirty orange....WTF! This from the man who wouldn't notice if I shaved off one eyebrow. Sure enough when I get out the compact to check it in natural light I look like the mascot for Florida Orange Juice. It also left my skin looking very dry and harsh under the orange glow...oh well I'm taking it back.

Moisturizers -Kiehls - Yerba Mate Tea Lotion
Ruthone 2/16/2009 9:06:00 AM
I bought this moisturizer after a friend recommended it to me, I don't know if I'd made her mad recently or not but it was a waste of money. Honestly it did nothing for my skin, didn't even moisturize that well. The amount you get for the price was tiny. I have oily skin so it normally takes very little moisturizer for my face but I had to use a couple of pumps of this stuff. Don't waste your money.

Misc Beauty Tools -Clarisonic - Pro Skincare Brush
Ruthone 2/8/2009 7:43:00 AM
This is a great tool. I got this for my birthday this year and waited impatiently for 24 hours to pass to use it. I seriously could feel a difference my first use, and my hubby mentioned how clean and white my skin looked when I walked out the bathroom. My face normally is red for at least an hour after I wash it because it's very sensitive and turns red easily. So for him to mention a difference it had to be extreme. Word of warning though when you use it, it's not going to be the brush feeling you're expecting. It feels like vibrations all over your face, don't press hard just hold it flush and make tiny circles all over the area you're cleaning. My cleanser(HG) doesn't foam well with the Clarisonic but I love my cleanser and it stays foam or no foam, but I can tell my face is so much cleaner its incredible. I've already noticed a difference in the blackheads on my nose. The Clarisonic is way expensive but I feel it's a good investment for your skin.

Shampoo -Oscar Blandi - Balsamo di Jasmine Smoothing Shampoo
Ruthone 1/15/2009 9:44:00 AM
I have thick, naturally wavy hair that is prone to frizzy's and flyaways. I have never found a shampoo that actually gets rid of my frizzies no matter what it claims...and this one wasn't any different. After I dry my hair it's a hot mess of poofy volume and waves, but that's with every shampoo/conditioner I've ever tried so I wasn't really expecting miracles from this one. With that said I still liked the shampoo. It has a light refreshing scent, and my hair was super soft and shiney after blow drying. I'd buy this product again.

Cleansers -Dermalogica - PreCleanse
Ruthone 1/12/2009 4:57:00 PM
This is a great product for makeup removal. It's gentle but effective and smells divine. I normally use precleanse for my initial cleanse(removal of makeup)followed by my regular cleanser. The precleanse has a wonderful smooth texture and a little goes a long way so the bottle will last forever.

Cleansers -Cetaphil - Gentle Skin Cleanser
Ruthone 1/12/2009 4:54:00 PM
This cleanser isn't good or bad in my opinion it's just a gentle cleanser. My first derm way back suggested this and I used it for awhile but didn't notice improvements in my skin until I switched to a more active product. I didn't feel that it was removing my makeup at all which is a must in a cleanser for me...so I guess if you don't wear makeup and don't have problems or issues with your skin this is an ok cleanser.

Skincare - Face -Jan Marini - Antioxidant daily face protectant SPF 30
Ruthone 1/12/2009 4:49:00 PM
This is my HG sunscreen. It's the only thing I've found that actually seems to sink into my skin and I can apply makeup over without said makeup being around my chest at the end of the day. It doesn't burn, break me out, or cause any irritation; I even put this stuff on my eyelids without any irritation. It's a bit pricey for the amount that comes in a tube but my skin is worth the price to me. I recommend this one to all my friends.

Hair -Biosilk - Fruit Cocktail
Ruthone 1/12/2009 4:45:00 PM
This stuff sucked. Got it in a sample size with combo package and hated everything about it. I agree with a previous reviewer it did nothing for my hair and left my hair feeling icky and like it needed to be washed again, and again, and again. Awful product.

Treatments -Unlisted Brand - Sudocrem
Ruthone 8/12/2008 9:07:00 AM
I bought this product about a week ago and everyone in my family is using it for something or other. My hubby had a huge cystic bump coming up on the side of his nose(the painful kind) and I talked him into smearing some of this on it one night before bed. The next morning it was noticeably smaller and the day after it was gone. My son is dealing with horrible first breakouts at the moment and is using several different topicals and antibiotics from the derm so I'm reluctant to use this one him...but I did put it on one of his deep red spots and the next morning the redness was gone and the pimple was diminished greatly so now I'm considering taking him off the topicals and using this instead. For myself I still get the occasional hormonal breakout on my chin(the painful kind)and I used this one a HUGE bump right under my lip and this morning when I checked in the mirror it was almost flat!! This isn't something you can wear under makeup or pop on during the day because it's very thick and greasy and white but put it on at night before bed and wake up the next morning with smaller problems. I'm in the USA so had to order this from Canada...but it's worth the $7.00 shipping trust me!!
