Eye Shadow -Laura Mercier - African Violet
Russianlass 11/29/2012 10:12:00 PM
African Violet is a really pretty lavender shadow with a light golden sheen. I have brown eyes with some hazel flecks and this shadow makes my eyes look like a hazel green. The shadow can look surprisingly natural and just brightens the whole face. I would definitely purchase again.

Fragrances -Lancome - Tresor midnight rose

Well, this was a gift from my ex husband . . . should have warned me. Anyway, after the first initial spray I loved the berry sweetness and the slightly musky drydown, but within minutes I was left with nothing but powder and more powder. I hate powdery scents! I can wear almost anything and deal, but this was horrible on me. I hate waste, so I gave it to my mother who apparently likes it. Now, whenever I see her I am still tortured by the smell . . . it is like being trapped in a cloud of powder. I really have a hard time believing that this is marketed toward young women. Scent is subjective and chemistry definitely plays a role and this just did not work for me.

Lipstick -Bobbi Brown - Rich Lip Color SPF 12 - Pink Peony
Russianlass 2/19/2012 7:06:00 PM
This is definitely a long wearing lipstick. I have had it on for hours and it is still in place (maybe a bit lighter). I love the natural shade of pink and I think it is perfect for spring. It does have a slight hint of coral. I also purchased the pink brightening gloss to add a little shine and the combo makes for a soft, sexy, summer pout. Oh, and it is really brightening to the face. This shade would probably be flattering to most people.

Lipstick -Bobbi Brown - Roseberry
Russianlass 12/9/2011 11:57:00 PM
This is as bold as I can go in lip color. It is a very flattering and as others have mentioned, a brightening shade. I have a holiday party coming up and wanted a reddish lipstick to wear with my simple black dress and this fits the bill. I definitely feel like this lipstick leans towards the red family. It gives a nice polished sexy mouth without looking overly painted. I would definitely recommend to anyone who is a little shy of a bright red, but wants something a little more festive.

Eye Shadow -Trish McEvoy - Shaper in Shell
Russianlass 11/30/2011 10:46:00 PM
This is a great eyeshadow for an allover wash, brow highlight or for the inner corners of the eye. I basically use it as a base color for other eyeshadows. I also have Bobbi Brown's Navajo and bone, but they seem chalky in comparison. Shell gives your eyes a bright wide awake appearance. It is a matte shade with a whitish pinky tone. I use LM base and then this shadow and my eyes look bright and well rested. It is not an exciting shade, but it provides a natural understated look.

Fragrances -Gucci - Guilty Intense
Russianlass 10/2/2011 9:22:00 AM
I really, really, like this! I have been on a quest to find something different from Narcisco Rodriquez, which is my all time favorite scent. I have purchased quite a few and this is the one that rivals my all time favorite. I was torn between this and the newer revamped J'adore. The Gucci just has a more complex sensual smell. I tried the original at the perfume counter when it first came out and liked it ok, but not enough to buy. This one is much more interesting and intense (hence the name). I tried it at Lord and Taylor and by the time I walked to Nordstom I had received three compliments. That is always a good indication that a scent works with your chemistry and also a clue to me not to wears so much :) I would definitely recommend this for a fall fragrance. It has a floral vibe, but mostly it smells warm, a little sweet and ambery (not a real word) and some other notes that I just cannot name for the life of me.

Fragrances -Unlisted Brand - Jessica Simpson - I Fancy You
Russianlass 9/17/2011 7:16:00 PM
I am shocked that I purchased this and that I like it so much. Okay, I am a slight perfume snob! Sorry. Anyway, I was shopping for a leather jacket today and the sales assistant was wearing this scent. It was subtle and very feminine and just appealed to me, so I purchased it. I mainly wear Narciso Rodriguez on a daily basis. I Fancy You is just a fresher floral that is undeniably feminine. I spritzed in on hours ago and can still smell it. It is not groundbreaking and original, but it smells really great. Sometimes simple and pretty is nice.

Liquid -Chanel - Vitalumiere Aqua
Russianlass 8/21/2011 11:12:00 AM
Great foundation!! I usually wear LM tinted moisturizer. I do not like feel of heavy makeup, or the look for that matter. I was given a few samples of this at the Chanel counter in Nordstorm. I used the different color samples that they gave me for a few weeks and I have to say that I love this foundation. It provides a light matte coverage that still manages to look a little dewy and natural. I didn't realize that I was getting hardly any coverage from the LM tinted moisturizer. Granted it is a TM and not a foundation. As soon as I applied this I was shocked at how well it evened out my skin tone. Someone at work commented that first day that I looked "glowy" and wanted to know who I was seeing. I tried to convince her it was the makeup, but she wasn't buying it. Anyway, I wear the shade B20. I tried B10 way too light and I wore the B30 for weeks, but since summer is ending I think that shade is took dark. I like the brightening look of a lighter foundation as opposed to a slightly darker one. Having said that they all looked ok since the formula is so light. I have tried lots of foundations and TM moisturizers and this is my favorite. This foundation really gives a natural healthy look to the skin. It is lightweight, but still have good coverage. You really need to shake the bottle to blend the ingredients, otherwise it is really running. that is the only negative that I can think of.

Skincare - Face -Clinique - 3 Step System
Russianlass 5/15/2011 11:30:00 AM
I think this a a good program. I have used more expensive brands with too much scent and cost way to much and had no better results. I am in my 40's, but have oily skin still (not complaining) and this works great. The toner really does a great job of exfoliating. I usually follow it with the Turn around concentrate and my skin looks smooth and glowy. I don't really love Clinique makeup. There lipsticks are ok and they have a new tinted moisturizer I like, but there skin care is really, really good. I like simple with results.

Tinted Moisturizer -Clinique - Moisture Surge Tinted Moisturizer SPF15
Russianlass 3/22/2011 11:37:00 PM
I just purchased this tonight after using the sample in shade #3 for a week. I love it! I was using LM tinted moisturizer in nude, but it really feels heavy compared to this and it looks ghostly in photos. I was very skeptical about this product. I have not liked clinique foundations in that past. However, this is so light and still provides amazing coverage. It also hydrated my oily skin without making me look oilier. I even used this under my eyes without it settling into every little fine line. It appears to be really popular and has flown off the shelves. It was sold out at Macy's and Nordstrom. I had to order it and have it mailed to my house. I don't like a heavy made up look, I prefer to play with eye makeup and keep the skin natural and this delivers that look perfectly, but still evens out my skin tone. This is definitely worth trying or at least getting a sample of for those who don't like foundation.

Fragrances -Moschino - Funny!
Russianlass 3/10/2011 10:41:00 PM
This is a delicious summer scent. I first smelled it a year ago on my hairstylist. She smelled so sweet and clean. It has a citrus component, but smells warm to me too. I just happened to walk into a fragrance store at the mall and they sold Funny, but they did not have a tester. I bought it anyway and I am glad that I did. I have worn it to work for the last two days. I have received several compliments, so it has some staying power and seems to be well liked. It is not a sophisticated scent by any means, but very pretty nonetheless.

Mascara -Estee Lauder - Sumptuous Extreme
Russianlass 2/7/2011 10:28:00 PM
I agree this is a great mascara. I like it better than my all time favorite YSL. Now, I have been using Latisse for several months and my lash are long and much darker, but this just makes them look amazing. I did not have a problem with clumping and the brush is perfect. I will definitely repurchase.

Lip Gloss -Trish McEvoy - irresistible pink
Russianlass 1/27/2011 5:02:00 PM
This is a very pretty pink lip gloss with sparkle. Not sparkly in a tacky way, just brightening and very pretty. It also provided some moisture. You can wear this gloss over almost any lipstick and it just gives it that extra oomph!

I love this product and use it everyday. I can't stand dry lips. Chapstick leave that heavy film on your lips and I hate that. This provides instant moisture and is a nice base for my lipstick. I am never without this product.

Moisturizers -Philosophy - Hope in a Jar - for all skin types
Russianlass 12/4/2010 10:27:00 AM
I was just skimming the site and saw a positive review for Philosophy's Hope in a Jar - yay! I never understood all the negative reviews for this product. I am in my early 40's and think this product is really good. If I were in my teens, 20's and 30's I would use it everyday without fail. I am now stuck on their Miracle Worker after trying it a few weeks ago. The stuff is amazing! Still, I think Hope in a jar is great. It exfoliates, Moisturizes and just makes the skin brighter and smoother. It is not a heavy moisturizer and who needs that unless you are super dry, even then I would use this for the exfoliating factor and just use something heavier at night. Anyway, I really like this line for their moisturizers. For the record I have tried and spent tons of money on Dior, Estee Lauder and Chanel. In my humble opinion, Philosophy is just better and not as artificial.
