Eye Shadow -Urban Decay - Midnight Rodeo
Ruiz4books 10/12/2012 11:11:00 PM
I don't care what anyone says, I freakin love this color!! I know a lot of people have issues with the glitter but the glitter is exactly what I love about this eyeshadow. I love all of UD's glittery eyeshadows but this one and sidecar are my favorite. This shadow is a medium cool toned brown with silver sparkles. My favorite way to wear this shadow is all over the lid and slightly into the crease with my perversion eyeliner on both upper and bottom lash lines. I then just use my highlighter of the day under my brow. It gives me a very subtle sultry look and makes my brown eyes just glow. If I want to look extra nice at work, I'll wear this with a MLBB lipcolor. For a night on the town I add a red lipstick and I'm good to go. In regards to fallout, the way I apply it causes none. I normally wear UDPP but I find that if I intend to wear this shadow for more than a few hours I will get some fallout as the day progresses using that primer. So instead I use Too Faced Glitter Glue. It keeps the glitter in check all day. When I apply the shadow I use a flat shadow brush, tilt my head back, and gently press the color onto my lids. No fallout what-so-ever. I love this color and I hope UD never discontinues this shadow.

Eye Primer -Urban Decay - Eyeshadow Primer Potion - Original (UDPP)
Ruiz4books 10/12/2012 2:57:00 AM
Amazing. I cant wear eyeshadow without this product. My eyelids are so oily that I get creasing within 15 minutes of applying eyeshadow without a primer. This magical baby makes my eyeshadow budge proof for until I remove it. This has stood the test of many nights on the town lol. The ultimate proof came when after a rather fun get together at a friends house, I fell asleep on the sofa without removing my makeup. The next day I woke up and found my eye makeup was flawless. Other people who stood the night even commented how unfair it was that I woke up looking so good lol. I have tried other primers including Nars and lime crime. None of them compared to UDPP. I don't have any issues with blending shadows over this product and it can even intensify the cheapest drug store shadow. Awesome product.

Crème -Revlon - ColorStay Whipped Creme Makeup
Ruiz4books 10/11/2012 4:44:00 PM
I never thought I would say this but here I go: HG status. I am so happy that Revlon released this foundation because it is absolutely amazing! I was previously using the liquid version but I'm pretty sure it was giving me clogged pores. Anyway, on to the review: Packaging: It comes in a pretty hefty glass jar which people will either love or hate. I love it. I think it looks really nice on my vanity and I like the substantial feel of it when I pick it up. However, It does make selecting the proper shade a tad difficult if you're just going by sight. To get some product out, I use my middle finger and very lightly touch the top of the foundation then dab it on my face. In terms of hygiene, I don't find it problematic. I'm the only one who uses my makeup and I always clean my hands before doing my makeup. Application: As I said, I GENTLY tap my finger on top of the foundation and the product that transfers is enough to do one section out a time. I section my face into 4 parts; nose and chin area, each cheek, and my forehead. I pat the foundation over each section to spread and then use my real techniques buffing brush to buff it in. This foundation blends Beautifully! It's so silky and smooth and just glides effortlessly over the skin. It glides right over my pores without sinking into them, giving you that airbrushed look. You could do your whole face at once without fear of it drying like the liquid version, I just prefer to work in sections. Once I apply it, I like to let it set while I do my eye make up and then come back and powder if need be. Coverage: I find this to be light to very buildable medium coverage. It could just be because I use such a tiny amount but I find when I first apply it, it evens my skin tone and gets rid of any redness but it won't cover any marks. I then go back and apply a second layer to any areas of my face that need it. If I have a fading dark mark from a pimple, it will make it way less noticeable but not completely gone. If I have an active red pimple, it moderately helps but concealer is still needed. My skin is pretty good so I don't need much coverage besides the occasional pimple so I like the coverage that this offers. The finish is between semi-matte and natural. Lasting Power: This lasts incredibly well on my very oily skin. If I use a moisturizer with SPF in it, I find I start to get slightly shiny after 3-4 hours. If my moisturizer doesn't have SPF, I can go anywhere from 6-8 hours before needing to blot. My work can sometimes require 12 hours or more and I usually blot 2-3 times when I wear this mostly towards the end of the night. In comparison, MAC's SFF causes me to blot within an hour and a total of 6-7 times a day. I don't notice any fading or creasing by the end of the day when I wear this and if I use a makeup wipe to remove my makeup, the wipe clearly has makeup on it. Depending on what moisturizer I'm using I'll set it with powder. Shade Selection: This is the only thing that I find worrisome about the product. I'm fairly light with yellow and beige undertones. When I take pictures with my friends or family, I'm almost always the lightest one in the picture. I'm nowhere near porcelain or ivory but I'm still pretty light. Now when I tried this foundation I happened to be the tannest I had ever been which means I was 1-2 shads darker than my normal color. I'm an avid sunblock wearer lol. My normal shade of nude in the liquid version was was a tad too light for me at the time so I decided to get the shade Medium Beige in this version. Now when I tried it on, my face looked extremely pale and gray and was super light in pictures. The next shade up was warm golden but in the liquid version, that color is way to dark for me. However, I couldn't stand walking around with a gray face so I caved and exchanged it. When I opened, I thought there was no way it would match me but I tried it out since I already bought it. Surprisingly, it matched perfect. It has noticeable yellow undertones that Medium Beige lacked. Again, it could be because I use very little of the product but I find that because this offers me light coverage and is so blendable, that once I buff in the very noticeable darker foundation it actually melts into the perfect color. I've been wearing this foundation for about 2 months now and I haven't experienced any breakouts or clogged pores. I would highly recommend this foundation to girls with oily or combo skin. It's simply amazing.

Fragrances -Lavanila - Pure Vanilla
Ruiz4books 10/11/2012 3:28:00 PM
My absolute favorite perfume! I reach for this practically everyday. To me it smells like a very warm and rich vanilla which I absolutely adore. I like vanilla scents but sometimes they can be too sweet or synthetic. Not this baby, it's pure perfection. Evey time I wear it, I either get asked what I'm wearing or told that I smell really good. The lasting power is superb. I put it on in the morning and when I go to bed I can still smell it on my wrists, although it's much softer than when first applied. This is now my signature scent.

Liquid -Revlon - ColorStay Makeup 24 hrs
Ruiz4books 10/1/2012 10:55:00 PM
I really really like the new formula. First of all, yes, it does smell quite synthetic but I actually like the smell. It makes me think of women of the past putting on makeup. The packaging inst the greatest, there's no pump, but I don't find it too inconvenient. I simply place my finger on the top of the bottle, pour some out, and dot what comes out on my face. In regards to being unhygienic, It's my fingers and I always clean my hand before doing my makeup, so no concerns. Unlike the previous version, this one doesn't dry as fast which allows you to work slower and blend more. It's also thinner which makes it easier to blend in my opinion. In terms of coverage, I never found the 16 hour formula to be full coverage as other have claimed, more medium to buildable. I find that this version has slightly less coverage which I actually find favorable because I prefer light to medium coverage. I would classify this as medium but not buildable. This has very good lasting power. I often have a 12 hour work day and this will hold up with no problem. Now I have very oily skin and usually blot every hour. With this I can usually go four hours before blotting, more depending on what moisturizer I'm using. Moisturizers with sunblock tend to make me oilier. Without spf, I've once gone 6 hours without blotting. The shade range is pretty good but it could be better. I feel like the lighter shades need more yellow. I've tired Nude, Natural Beige, and Medium Beige. Natural beige was much too pink. Nude and Medium Beige are more neutral than yellow. When winter is fully here I might give buff or sand beige a try. Other than that, I think this foundation is amazing for the price. Much better than MAC's Studio fix fluid. Edit: I took away a lippie because it definitely gives me clogged pores if I wear it too often.

Eye Primer -NARS - Pro-Prime Smudge Proof Eyeshadow Base
Ruiz4books 9/23/2012 7:14:00 PM
Useless. The only saving grace was that I got this in part of a gift set and didn't have to pay for it. I tried many many times to get this to work. I put on a lot, I put on a little, I waited for it to dry completely, I applied shadowed while it was still wet but no matter what, my eyeshadow creased within an hour. The only positive thing I can say about this product was that I liked it's texture. UDPP remains undefeated in my book.

Lipstick -Revlon - Colorburst Lip Butter in Creme Brulee
Ruiz4books 9/20/2012 10:44:00 PM
I love all the Revlon Lip Butters and this one is among my top favorites. Application is amazing, it glides on smoothly and feels creamy on the lips (something I like). It never dries out my lips, which is something that a lot of lip products do and it leaves a nice glossy finish. The color is a beautiful nude that doesn't give me corpse lips. I find myself reaching for this whenever I want my eyes to be the focus. A lot of people seem to have trouble with the lasting power but I think they're are being unrealistic. This color will last 2-3 hours on my lips before it starts fading which is plenty enough time for me. If I'm eating or drinking, it fades sooner which happens to all lip products. This product doesn't claim to be long wearing so I expect to reapply it if I want all day color. I choose this product because of its moisture. If I want long wearing, I'll pick another product.

Moisturizers -Neutrogena - Combination Skin Moisture Oil Free
Ruiz4books 9/2/2012 8:37:00 PM
Ugh, such a waste of money. My main moisturizer is the Neutrogena Oil-free with 35 SPF (I never go in the sun w/o sunblock) but I wanted something I could wear at nights and during flash photography. Now, I have really oily skin so I was looking for something that would provide very light moisture, just enough to prevent dry spots basically. Well, this sure doesn't add to my oil problem. In fact, after using this for a year, I can confidently say that this product actually makes me have dry skin!! First, I hate the way this applies. It goes on extremely sticky and gloopy. My fingers actually stick to my face after I've rubbed it in. I have to let it sit for 5 minutes for the tackiness to go away. I know the tackiness is gone when my face starts feeling tight, yes, tight. This is the first time a moisturizer has made my face feel tighter than it was before application. Applying foundation on top of this is a nightmare. Being an oily skinned girl, I never understood people's complaints about dry patches, now I do. I look like a lizard when I put foundation over this. The only time I can get a semi-reasonably application is if I apply this right after a shower while my face is still somewhat damp. I will never buy this product again.

Eyeliner -Urban Decay - 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil Perversion
Ruiz4books 9/2/2012 8:22:00 PM
LOVE IT!! Urban Decay is my go to brand for eye products. The first time I used this eyeliner I was literally shocked by how pigmented and creamy it applied. It's an intense matte black. I barely have to touch it to my skin and it still gives an intense color. I think it gives liquid eyeliners a run for their money. On my top lash line, I have no issues with smudging, it stays put until I remove it. On my waterline, I do have to reapply occasionally, but I don't mind. I will be repurchasing this =)

Eyeliner -Urban Decay - 24/7 Liquid Liner in Perversion
Ruiz4books 9/2/2012 8:15:00 PM
I am a huge fan of Urban Decay's eye products. The majority of my eye makeup collection is now UD. However, this liquid eyeliner will not be given a place in my collection. Upon first application, I loved it. The liner is incredibly pigmented and produced the blackest line I had seen. I also was very pleased with the brush, it was extremely fine and made of individual bristles. It allowed me to create such a precise line and being relatively new to liquid eyeliners I loved it. True to the claim, it stayed on until removed (verified by several all night parties haha) and had no flaking. Fast forward a few months and I couldn't stand it. My main issue with the product was that the brush bristles became flayed making it almost impossible to create a straight line w/o lots of hard work. Second, the top of the tube where the liquid is stored popped off! Every time I removed the brush, the ring that removes excess liquid would lift off and I would have to push it back down. It created a mess and was extremely annoying. Considering how much I payed for this eyeliner, this is unacceptable. You would assume that the price would also include decent packaging but it's not the case. As much as I love the pigmentation of this product, I not willing to risk spending money on this liner if I have to deal with the same packing hassles. I'm currently using a Revlon liner that's half the price and absolutely amazing. Summary: Pros: -Jet Black -Staying power -No flaking -Precision (at first) Cons -Expensive -Bristles get flayed -Packaging Broke

Eye Shadow -Urban Decay - Naked Palette
Ruiz4books 8/5/2012 7:45:00 AM
I don't know what to say to say that hasn't been said already about this amazing palette. I absolute love it. This was my first palette purchase from Urban Decay and it made me fall in love with the brand. Before I bought this, I wasn't really into neutrals, now I use this pretty much all the time. Beautiful colors and pigmentation is superb. My favorite shades are sidecar, half-baked, and toasted. I like that the palate has several different finishes in it, I think it allows you to create a much broader range of looks. Rant time: I know a lot of people have an issue with UD's glitter shadows and that's fine, not everyone likes the same thing. However, I don't understand why those same people then go and buy UD palates only to complain about how much they hate the glitter. UD is known for their shimmery shades, The whole brand was created to cater to an alternative crowd. I wouldn't buy Bobbi Brown or Laura Mercier but then complain that they're too natural looking or don't have enough vibrant shades. Brands cater to different needs. You want shimmer, sparkle, and color, you go to UD. If you don't want that, there are countless other brands that specialize in more toned down makeup The price was a bit high for my liking considering I'm a college student but once I used the product, I didn't mind. You get 12 full size eyeshadows for a fraction of what it would cost to buy them separately. I will repurchase this palette if I ever run out.

Concealers -Hard Candy - Glamoflauge Concealer
Ruiz4books 7/14/2012 4:57:00 PM
Excellent coverage, it's the most pigmented out of all my concealers. The only con I have is the shade range, light is too pale for me while medium is too dark. I wish they would had a better color selection. I love the concealer but I can only use it in the winter when I'm at my palest.

Mascara -BeneFit Cosmetics - They're Real
Ruiz4books 7/14/2012 4:45:00 PM
I like this mascara, but for the price I paid, I should love it. I does what it says, it gives me amazing lashes, my sister even told me it looked like I had false eyelashes on. However, it's not consistent, some days I find myself having to put little effort into getting good lashes, other days no matter how hard I try, I get clumpy lashes. That's another problem, it can clump very easily, its a thin line between amazing lashes and awful lashes. Another issue I have is that is such a PAIN to remove! Even with my Clinuque Take the Day Off Balm, which removes everything so easily, I have to massage my eyes for like 20 minutes and even then I'm still left with smudges under my eyes! If this mascara was 10 bucks, I would absolutely adore it, because it does give you dramatic eyelashes w/o having to use falsies. However, I feel like the cons just don't make it worth the money. I won't be repurching this again. I much prefer Urban Decay's super curling mascara.

Moisturizers -Clinique - Super Rescue Antioxidant Night Moisturizer
Ruiz4books 7/14/2012 4:33:00 PM
HG status!! This is the only one out of all my products that has gotten this claim. I will continue to use this until the end of time and I hope it's never disconnected! Background: I have oily, acne prone skin and to combat that I started a night time routine that involved using 10% bp. As a result, my acne cleared up but my face became severely dry at night once the medication once applied. So, I decided to use a night time moisturizer, which due to how oily my skin is, is something I previously never had to do. Anyways, I tried a cream from my favorite brand Neutrogena, which to my shock was absolutely horrible and broke me out in huge cystic bumps. I tossed that. Next I tried Clinuque's moisture surge which was an absolute dud. I might as well have rub nothing on my skin because it gave me no moisture what so ever. I returned that. In exchange I picked up this gem. That was around February and I have been using it ever since. Absolutely amazing!! I apply this every night after I cleanse my face and use a generous amount of 10% bp. The first time I used it, I was highly impressed at how well it did at eliminating the dryness that was occurring, including the scaly patches I was getting at my temples. It felt creamy but not greasy and left my face feeling incredibly soft. Others have mentioned this and I will agree that I do get a slight warming sensation when I first apply it, but I actually enjoy that feeling and it goes away within seconds. So it passed the first test in that it actually moisturizes. Now, I was concerned that it might break me out like the Neutrogena night cream so I monitored my face very carefully for any signs of clogged pores or cystic acne. If I got even one pimple I would stop using the moisturizer and see if cleared up. Well as I was doing this, I started to notice something, on the nights I had the occasional pimple and didn't use this, my pimples would actually take longer to heal than when I used this. I decided put that to the test and stop using this for a week and see how long it took the redness to fade from any lingering spots. It took the whole week. The next time I got a spot, I used this every night and any redness was gone in 3 days!! I was blown away. I'm not saying this clears my pimples, the bp does that, but for some reason, this amazing product seems help speed up my skins natural healing process. I used to have left over pigmentation from spots for at least a week if not more, now it barely lasts a few days. Since I've been using this product for a few months now, my skin looks absolutely glowing. All my dryness is gone, I have no more red spots, and my skin looks soft and radiant. I do wish it was less expensive but I will gladly fork over my money for this product. Like I said, I've had it since February and I still have half the tube left. You don't need to use much of it. Depending on how dry my skin is, I use less than a pea size to a little more than a pea. Excellent product. Clinique hit it out of the ball park with this one.

Blush -Tarte - Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Blush - Blushing Bride
Ruiz4books 6/19/2012 1:26:00 AM
I love this blush!! I saw this blush on one of my trips to Sephora and I fell in love with it. It looked so beautiful in the pan. It's pretty expensive though so I couldn't buy it right away. I planned on buying it after my Bday but my awesome BF bought it for me as a Bday gift =). The color is a beautiful plum/deep berry with gold sparkles. I admit, even though I love the color in the pan, I was a bit hesitant about actually wearing it. I'm light enough that I'm often told I need to tan but I'm no way near "porcelain". I also have neutral to slightly yellow undertones. So even though I was ecstatic about finally having the blush, I was worried it might be too dark on me. However, my worries were unjustified because I absolutely adore this color on me. Be warned, it is extremely pigmented so I only dip my brush into the pan once then apply to my cheeks. Once I blend it out it turns into this amazing rosy glow on me that looks so much more natural than any of the the pink blushes I've been wearing. Since it so pigmented, this blush is going to last me a lifetime. The glitter hasn't given me any problems in either fallout or making me appear oily, which is something I worry about since I do have oily skin. If you're on the fence about buying this, jump off and get it, just remember that a little goes a long way. Edit: I forgot to say I love the packaging! I think its sleek but cute. I love the fact the outside matches the color inside, it makes finding it easy.
