Lotions/ Creams -Bath and Body Works - Temptations Twisted Peppermint body lotion
rated 4 of 5

Smells lovely and accurately pepperminty. Unfortunately for me, the scent doesn't linger on me at all. After an hour, it's faint or completely gone. I've found though that it mixes very well with Exotic Coconut lotion for a sweet, clean smell (and the mix increases its staying power a little bit).

Lipstick -Maybelline - Moisture Extreme - Royal Red [DISCONTINUED]
rated 4 of 5
RoxieRose 2/8/2009 4:32:00 PM

The color is lovely. It's more pinkish/magenta than true red on me. It's bright, but not obnoxiously so. I wouldn't feel over-the-top wearing this color during the day or to class. The lipstick did nothing to mosturize, but it's no more drying other lipsticks I've had, so it's not a huge complaint.

Fragrances -Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab - Black Pearl
rated 4 of 5
RoxieRose 12/26/2007 3:41:00 AM

I recently rediscovered my long lost imp of Black Pearl, and oh, how I've missed it. :) This scent is sweet (almost bordering on too sweet) coconut--summery, and sparkling. I don't know what it is, but something about this scent seems to fizz to me, like carbonated soda. I really enjoyed this scent the year I got it and wore it heavily (so much so that there's only about a drop left in my imp...), and I'm tempted to buy a larger sized bottle if this scent is still being made. My one, general complaint is about the packaging. Maybe it's just my superhuman strength to blame, but I always seem to tear the little plastic handles off of the imp stoppers (which forces me to resort to an ungainly style of wiggling and twisting off the tops... generally leading to me getting perfume all over my thumb and forefinger. I wasted a lot of lovely Black Pearl that way). Is there a more graceful way to get the stoppers off?

Lotions/ Creams -Bath and Body Works - Chocolate Amber
rated 4 of 5
RoxieRose 12/26/2007 1:25:00 AM

Ooh! I'm a newly converted fan! Chocolate amber is sweet, dark, and smokey. It's similar to Sensual Amber (which I like... but not on me), but the notes of dark chocolate, berries, and musk tone down the sweetness of the amber and keep the perfume from being cloying. For the first 10 minutes or so, the scent isn't incredibly pleasant to me. (There's a strange, almost wood-like smell). I was worried that my good impression of the perfume while in the store had been wrong, but after a few minutes, the bitter dark chocolate and the sweet amber rise to the top. I love it, and hope it remains at B&BW year round. P.S. I've found it mixes well with Warm Vanilla Sugar.

Lip Gloss -Victoria's Secret - Beauty Rush Lip Gloss In Toasty Almond
rated 5 of 5
RoxieRose 12/19/2007 11:46:00 PM

Lovely product. The scent reminds me of marzipan--thick, sugary almond. The gloss is very sheer on me. Just a hint of gold and a bit of sparkle. Definitely my favorite of the Beauty Rush line. but... I fear it may have been discontinued. It hasn't been in stores in my area for quite a while. Is V.S. still selling it elsewhere?

Lips -Burt's Bees - Lip Shimmer - Merlot
rated 4 of 5
RoxieRose 8/2/2005 10:55:00 PM

Wow. The split in the reviews is very interesting. I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who escaped the dreaded fushia lips. On me it's a bright red with a subtle purple/pinkness to it (hard to describe... :D). I love the Burt's minty tingle and taste and picked this up after a friend suggested (commanded... lol) that I try hers. Her color (Raisin) really did go fushia on me, but this was perfect. My only complaint is that since this is a thin balm instead of an actual lipstick, the color settles into the creases of my lips giving me the stripey look when I smile. Other than that, I dig it. :)

Polishes -Cover Girl - Nailslicks in Papaya Shake
rated 4 of 5
RoxieRose 7/15/2005 12:45:00 AM

This is such a lovely color. As with the other Nailslicks I've used, multiple coats are needed to do the trick, but this shade is so pretty, that I don't mind the inconvenience.

Mascara -Cover Girl - Multiplying Mascara
rated 2 of 5

It clumps almost immediately out of the bottle and doesn't really lengthen my lashes, but it isn't the worst mascara I've ever used... (What an endorsement!)

Eye Shadow -Cover Girl - Smoothers Eye Color
rated 4 of 5
RoxieRose 7/15/2005 12:37:00 AM

I bought this in Midnight Rose (a pretty plummy mauve kind of color), and it is quite flattering to dark brown eyes. The cooling effect is kind of strange, but not unpleasant, and the pencil is easier to use than some of the clumsy eyeshadow pencils I've tried in the past. I'm very pleased with it, and will probably repurchase.

Liquid -Cover Girl - TruBlend
rated 4 of 5
RoxieRose 7/9/2005 1:18:00 AM

I'm terrible at finding a shade that matches my yellowish Indian skintone (Everything I buy tends to be too orange, and a bit too dark... serves me right for not getting testers, I guess...), so I've tried -- mostly in vain -- quite a few of the new products that are said to be true matches. After being very unhappy with L'Oreal's version (very greasy and unnatural), I bought this. I got this foundation in Warm Beige, and I'm quite pleased with it. I was a bit worried when I applied it because the color appears a lot lighter when outside of the bottle. When I dotted it on my face, it seemed about 2 shades too light, but after some blending, it looked fine (perhaps a little light, but it'll suit me well in the winter). I go over it with a darker powder and it works. I'm also pleased that this foundation hasn't had any harsh effects on my skin. I have oily, problem skin, but this foundation hasn't stirred up any trouble (I fell asleep in it accidentally one evening, and even that didn't harm my skin... although I wouldn't recommend doing that. :D) Very happy with this one.

Fragrances -Victoria's Secret - Strawberries and Champagne Spray
rated 1 of 5
RoxieRose 11/25/2004 12:55:00 AM

Blah. My roommate loves this, and I can't stand it at all. It's cloyingly sweet and cheap-boozy. I'm fairly underwhelmed by most of the VS perfumes I've come across though. I went through a Love Spell phase (as did quite a few of my friends), but soon realized that it didn't agree with my chemistry (smelled like rotting grapefruit on me). C'est la vie.

Pressed Powders -Almay - Skin Stays Clean Pressed Powder
rated 3 of 5
RoxieRose 7/28/2004 7:58:00 PM

Bought it yesterday and have worn it twice, so my rants are first impression rants! I bought this in Medium (second darkest shade). It's a little darker than my skin, but I had to ditch my last make-up because I got too tan to match it any longer, so I might meet this one half-way just in case I tan more. (damn my logic) It does have a bit of an orangey tint to it which I don't like, and I have to reapply constantly to remain shine-free (that could just be my misbehaving skin though...). I've had worse, but I'm determined to find better.

Tinted Moisturizer -Clearasil - Adult Care Tinted Cream
rated 3 of 5
RoxieRose 7/23/2004 11:55:00 PM

I guess I'm the rare person the color actually seems to match. (It's a tad darker actually, but not screamingly different). I realized the morning after first application that this stuff will dry your face viciously if you over-apply... (thus going against my usual "more is better" approach to life). I looked like I'd been badly sunburned. I learned my lesson, and this stuff seems to be working pretty well for me now. (Will stain your clothes if you aren't careful)

Scrubs -Bath and Body Works - Smoothing Shower Scrub [DISCONTINUED]
rated 5 of 5
RoxieRose 5/26/2004 12:38:00 AM

I bought the skin-renewing scrub (some odd little product I haven't found mention of, so I'll mention it here!) in mango, and it's lovely. It feels very good (as most scrubs do), but it is very gentle on the skin (as I've found a lot of scrubs aren't) and the scent is very pretty. Bath and Body Works was practically giving them away, so I picked one up, and now I'm hoping there are still some left.

Lip Gloss -Bonne Bell - Lip Smackers Starburst Lip Balm
rated 5 of 5
RoxieRose 4/28/2004 10:40:00 PM

I really like this stuff. I got a strawberry one, it feels and tastes very nice. It goes on really slick with almost a watery feeling. The taste is very sweet (but not in a nauseating way) I prefer this to regular lip smackers by far.
