Lipstick -NYX - Lipstick- #532 Rea
RosePeacock 5/20/2013 7:36:00 AM
I think I've found the perfect nude for my rosy lips! It managed to tone down the red in my lips a couple notches without looking thick and concealer-like. I don't see any grey like some previous reviewers, just a nude with a bit of my natural pinkness showing through. It goes on very smoothly and it can be sheer or a more full-on coverage, depending on what you prefer. I only did a couple of swipes to get the look I was after. It doesn't have a strong smell and the casing is reasonably sturdy. For the price, I'm very impressed. I give it a 4 rating because these NYX Round Lipsticks can be hard to get here in the UK (there's NYX UK online, but I think the shipping costs are a little too much). I've just dabbed on Bourjois 3D Effet lipgloss in Beige Elastic over the top and the combination is really pretty, just gives it a little oomph and added dimension.

Concealers -Boots - Natural Collection - Green Corrector Stick
RosePeacock 5/4/2013 2:50:00 PM
For the price I've been suitably impressed with this product. I wanted to conceal some areas of my face that get red so decided to give it a go. I use light strokes and carefully smooth it over any redness. With my normal skin-coloured powder over the top it does a very good job indeed. £1.99 well spent.

Blush -NYX - Chocolate Mousse
RosePeacock 4/29/2013 2:19:00 AM
I got this blush for £3 on the NYX UK online sale. I like it very much! On my skin it reminds me of Revlon's 'Barely Buff' blush without the slight pink tone. It's a bit powdery but the pigmentation is great. It brings a nice amount of warmth to my face. I think I'd buy it again yes, the only thing that lets it down is that the casing felt cheaper than I expected, having never owned a NYX blush before. Also, another thing to point out is that on the back the shade name is written as 'Chocolate Moose' as in the huge antlered variety, not the dessert (which it was listed as such online). Come on NYX make your mind up, which it is meant to be, Moose or Mousse? Haha. Still a lovely blush though.

Lotions/ Creams -LUSH - Creme Anglaise
RosePeacock 4/19/2013 9:45:00 AM
I've just re-discovered this lotion in my stash and I'm loving it. I say re-discovered because I received it in a Lush set for Christmas and totally forgot about it until recently. I really like the consistency - not too thin, not too thick. It absorbs easily and doesn't leave me feeling sticky or greasy. I know a lot of people don't like the scent but I think it's gorgeous. It's a musky vanilla, with a real warmth to it. I don't think it's available right now, though I can't be certain because I don't keep track of Lush releases and retirements but I'm sure it'll pop up again in the festive season.

Lipstick -Rimmel - Lasting Finish - Celeb [DISCONTINUED]
RosePeacock 3/24/2013 6:50:00 AM
Yes, this has been discontinued, but it's still easy to find online. Celeb is simply a really nice medium pink. It's a creme, so has no shimmer or frost which I really like. It's very complimentary to my very pale, cool toned skin, but it would suit many different skin tones because it's such an easy, unfussy shade. I'm a fan of the Lasting Finish lipsticks and have a little collection of them. The formula is good and I don't mind the scent. I highly recommend this product.

Fragrances -Unlisted Brand - Playboy - Play It Rock
RosePeacock 2/27/2013 6:41:00 AM
Well this was a pleasant surprise. I'm not a fan of Playboy, this perfume was just part of a gift set I got for Christmas a couple years back from someone who doesn't know my tastes. I wouldn't have picked it for myself in a million years, but I've ended up quite liking it. To me it's a mix of citrus and musk, and I especially like the dry-down as it gets cosy and rather comforting. I looked it up and the official note description is as follows; "Opening notes feature red orange mixed with candied apple complemented with temperamental spicy saffron aromas. A heart includes passionflower, orange blossom and frangipani, while a base adds ebony, patchouli and tonka beans". All in all, while I don't normally go for scents such as this, I do enjoy its femininity. I suppose I have a soft spot for more masculine scents, but it's made a nice change and I probably wouldn't say no to buying it again at some point if it was still available.

Lipstick -Sally Hansen - Natural Beauty Inspired by Carmindy l/s
RosePeacock 2/26/2013 1:53:00 PM
I have the shade 'Sunbeam' and I only got it because I'd heard somewhere that it's a dupe for Clinique's Tenderheart, and while it's not an exact dupe they are pretty similar, yes. So far it's the brownest shade in my collection because I normally go for pinks, peaches and mauves. However used sparingly over lipbalm it looks really nice and gives a subtle caramel sheen to my lips. As for the formula, it's not the best I've used but certainly not the worst either, so I guess it's somewhere in the middle. I wouldn't wear it on bare lips as I find it goes on better (and is more comfortable) with a slick of balm. Think I got it for around £1.50 so it's been a decent buy.

Lotions/ Creams -Garnier - Handrepair Intensive Restoring Hand Cream
RosePeacock 2/22/2013 2:55:00 PM
For reference I'm reviewing the Garnier hand cream that comes in a red tube for extra dry skin. The packaging also states that it has maple sap extract and glycerin. I've had my tube for quite a while now. I keep forgetting to use hand cream and don't like having greasy hands. Luckily this one is great in that respect as it sinks in really quickly. I like that it does what it says on the tin, as it definitely repairs my chapped hands and makes them feel much softer. The only downside is the smell. It has a very strong, sugary smell which gets a little much for me. When it comes to hand creams (and lipbalms for that matter) I prefer unscented products. I'm not sure I'd buy this again to be honest. It does a good job but in future I'd probably choose the Norwegian Formula unscented hand cream.

Eyeliner -GOSH - Velvet Touch Eyeliner
RosePeacock 2/4/2013 10:26:00 AM
I've been using the shade 015 Pure Natural as a brow pencil and it does a pretty decent job. I have oily skin which can cause my brows to fade, but this holds up very well. It may be ever so slightly too yellow, but I still think it's a good match for my blonde brows. I also have this eyeliner in a dark olive colour and it's fantastic, one of my faves.

Concealers -L'Oreal - Infallible Concealer
RosePeacock 2/4/2013 10:16:00 AM
I've had this in my collection for quite some time now, but never really used it until recently. I have the shade 01 Vanilla and it's a good match for my fair skin (I use Colorstay Ivory). I use it for my under-eye area only as I find it too dry for spots and other blemishes. To get the best results I have to pat it in on as it doesn't play well when I swipe it - it will drag and end up not looking very nice at all. A little goes a long way and it lives up to its durability claim. I haven't tried many L'Oreal products but I definitely recommend this if you're looking for a long-lasting medium coverage concealer.

Eye Shadow -Maybelline - Expert Wear Eyeshadow in Champagne Fizz
RosePeacock 2/4/2013 10:03:00 AM
This is one of my favourite eyeshadow singles. I use it as a soft wash of barely there colour - It's very close to my skintone, so it helps reduce any redness or veiny-ness on my lids. The texture is great, so smooth and fine. I don't find it chalky in the slightest. I think I paid less than pound for this on a discount cosmetics website, so it's been a wonderful buy.

Lotions/ Creams -Avon - Naturals-Banana & Coconut Milk
RosePeacock 1/22/2013 11:22:00 AM
This was a gift received a couple years back that I've only just got round to using. Luckily it hadn't gone bad and was still perfectly good. It's quite a thin lotion, so I think it would probably be better for the summer but it's just about adequate for me right now as my skin isn't too dry. It sinks in fast and has a pleasant scent - it's not cloying or overly sweet. I like that it doesn't smell of artificial banana, instead it's light and fresh. I can detect the coconut too, and that's not artificial either. Overall it's a nice lotion. Just 'nice', nothing special.

Lip Gloss -Boots - Natural Collection - Juicy Lips in Fondant
RosePeacock 1/22/2013 11:08:00 AM
This is a fairly recent purchase and so far I'm really liking it. 'Fondant' is a light peachy creme - no frost or glitter. It goes on surprisingly opaque and a little goes a long way. I wouldn't apply it without a mirror let's put it that way. I like that it nudes out my lips and isn't sticky. For £1.99 it's pretty decent. I have two other shades from the range - 'Raspberry Ripple' and 'Sherbet Fizz', both are very pretty and hopefully I'll get more use out of them in 2013.

Lipstick -Rimmel - Rich Moisture - Adorable
RosePeacock 12/19/2012 4:39:00 AM
This is a dupe for MAC's Fanfare lipstick. I put Fanfare on my upper lip and Adorable on the other and I really couldn't tell the difference. Best of all I found this lipstick at my local market for a measly £1.50. True to its name, I found it to be very smooth and moisturising. The medium-pink shade works well with my fair/cool colouring, and I can see it pairing well with many other skin-tones too. It's not too bold, on me it's a step up from MLBB. One of my faves in my collection for sure.

Mascara -The Body Shop - Divide and Multiply Mascara
RosePeacock 12/19/2012 4:13:00 AM
My sister bought this for me last Christmas and it's only recently that I've opened it and started using it on a regular basis. I think it's a great mascara. I have sparse, stubby excuses for lashes and it really does give them added oomph! Applied after using my curlers, the before and after is amazing. Such a difference. The only things I'm not too keen on is the price and that it doesn't seem to work as well on my lower lashes. I have to use a wetter mascara for them, which isn't too much of a hassle. I'd buy this again if I had the money to splash out.
