Polishes -Unlisted Brand - Confetti 073 Purple Pizzazz

This was an impulse buy at my local CVS. Its really more of a shimmery/frosty pink once on the nails, not lavender as it appears in the bottle. Nice but nothing unusual, still quite a steal at 1.99 I tend to get bored with wearing the same colors so I dont mind that this goes on a bit thin, I was able to build up the color quite nicely. I work with my hands a lot so if it lasts only 2 days without a topcoat I guess that's to be expected. Made in the USA
Hair Color -Revlon - Luxurious Colorsilk Buttercream Medium Brown
RingofFire 3/31/2013 4:29:00 PM
Ive just tried this for the first time, so I will just post my first impression on this product. Used 54G a warmish 'light' brown on shade up from the Medium Brown. The color came out little darker than pictured and I was hoping for a little more 'oomp' that the regular Colorsilk -which gave me more highlighted tones-- but I do love that it seems more gentle than the original Colorsilk. I prefer to use my own conditioner (Neutragena Deep Moisture) . It seemed to cover my grays well but I left it on twice as long as the box recommended since I have gray- resistant hair. I would try again since this seems to be the few permanent color brand that did not fry my hair, have a bad reaction (hair fall out) or really strong odor. Only real gripe is I wish they had more of a range in the light brown category or dark blonde, as I was trying to go for lighter brunette this time around. Oh and it didnt seem to drip all over my hair line. Good. Paid a little over 7 dollars for this. Will update if I notice fading after one shampoo.
Lip Treatments -Burt's Bees - Tinted Lip Balm - Caramel Daisy
RingofFire 3/26/2013 8:07:00 AM
A wonderful sheer warm golden brown and a nicer non shimmer alternative to Honeysuckle (see swatch pics) that gives a nice warm glow on the lips. I was quite pleased to finally find this as it is new and sometimes hard to find. I plan to use this to warm up a too cool shade of lipstick or just alone. Very moisturizing.
Eye Makeup Remover -Unlisted Brand - Epielle Cucumber Cleaning Tissues
RingofFire 3/23/2013 8:52:00 AM
This is meant to be used as a general gentle cleaning makeup remover.I use this mostly for removing eye makeup and concealer. 30 towelettes per package. Found this at my local grocery store for a dollar. It is VERY gentle and non irritating though I had to work at it to get my semi water proof mascara off but thats okay. Just the fact that my eyes were not stinging for once was great. I think this may also be found at the 99 cent store as I could have sworn I saw this brand there as well. Simple peel back slot to open but had some trouble keeping it re-closed. All in all a steal.
Lip Treatments -Burt's Bees - Tinted Lip Balm - Blush Orchid
RingofFire 3/17/2013 6:02:00 AM
I picked this up thinking I was getting Pink Blossom then double checked the label on the end of the paper tube and decided to give it a try. This is a new shade. Its a baby cool-ish pink that can be built up to create a nude lip. Pretty-- but too cool toned for me (MAC NC20) so will use as a base to go over with a liner or another shade. This shade is better suited on someone with very pale ivory skin. Very moisturizing as most of the tints are. UPDATE would like to swap this out for another shade. Too cool toned for me.
So far liking it and its economical. No irritation. Though the oil free is misleading. Its more like a non mineral makeup remover that soothes and leaves a light moisture film-which is gone by the morning. I would only use this at night, but its not much good for say, fixing makeup boo boos which I was also looking for. Still would consider repurchasing. I go this for 5.99 US dollars. I usually just use Vaseline (being the cheap skate I am now) for taking off mascara or heavy eye makeup so this is a nicer alternative. PS Targets Up and Up (?) brand is good for fixing makeup and is totally oil free tho may have *some* slight irritation if you rub it in to clean mascara off.
Makeup Brushes -Unlisted Brand - Finding Color 12 piece wool brush set
RingofFire 1/29/2013 8:31:00 AM
I purchased this set from a website called Light In The Box. So far very happy with my purchase. I will not go as far as to say they are up to par with a designer brand such as MAC (really I think the more expensive sets may be) , Bobbie Brown etc as so many reviewers seem to claim on their site. In comparison I have a small beauty supply (natural hair) brush set that is better and picks up more product. That set is probably over ten years old. I think I paid 10 to 24 dollars per brush and the brushes are still in good condition---but this set From Light In The Box for 18.99 makes a very nice backup or travel if you hate short handled brushes. The hairs are VERY SOFT and pliable on the lid. I bought this mostly for the eye makeup brushes as I am getting back into eye shadow again. The site lists this as ‘Persian Wool’ and their site does indicate that some of their brushes are a blend of synthetic and natural hair. I am guessing this is a blend from what I can see, mostly synthetic, but higher quality. I love the white tips at the end of the brush hair plus the roll up case with snaps is very nice. All the brushes are individually wrapped in plastic to protect them. Again a great bargain and makes a nice gift for someone who may be starting out using makeup or just wants a backup brush set. I also have the synthetic starter set which is good for travel and fits into a medium sized purse easily. Just use baby shampoo to clean and lie flat on a towel avoid the metal part and your brushes should last for a long time. I would gladly come back to this site to purchase again. So many choices!! 4/5 star rating. PS I chose the free shipping option and on average my package(s) arrived in 10-11 days. I live in the western US. They ship from China.
I do not know what to say except this may be the most perfect palette I have come across in a long time.16 varied soft long lasting shades evenly divided between matte and shimmer. They are very blend-able and the shimmers are soft and wearable. I'm having fun just mixing shades. Shimmer m/u fans may not be impressed but these are great for daytime. I passed on the ever popular UD Naked because of too much shine and was not sure if my now officially middle age lids could take all that. Truth be told, I couldnt pull it off when I was 20. This palette is workable. I KNOW I would reach for this weekly if not daily. I hope LORAC keeps this as a permanent staple because I would gladly purchase a backup for future use. The packaging is a thin rubberized case, not that great for travel (So be careful not to drop). I paid around 42 dollars at Sephora. Pretty good deal for higher quality eye shadow.
I like this palette very much except for the lever that you use to open it. It is a B*****. Other than that the shades are a nice soft pigmented mix of mattes and gentle shimmers that are wearable in the daytime. The compact is travel sized. Many people seem to think it is much bigger, but if you can get past that its wonderful to take to work etc. Taking one lip off for the stupid opening. I do not have long or fake nails but they were pretty shredded the first 3 times I tried to open.
I have one in Birthday Suit and nice highlighter pink. Its true its not quite totally matte but that is okay with me. I cannot do total shimmer but sometimes straight matte shades can look drying if its on my lid/crease area. Texture is very soft but the shimmer what there is of it is not really noticeable--which is good for daytime wear. Goes on very soft and buttery. Nice. I only wish there were more medium . It seems to be very light highligher or dark crease shades. I would like to see more of a range.
Treatments (Eye) -L'Oreal - Revitalift Double Lifting Eye
RingofFire 9/4/2012 9:41:00 AM
I really like the gel lifting serum. The white eye cream is a basic light moisturizer, nothing more. I wish they would just sell the gel as the moisturizer seem just meh. SPF would also help on the white stuff. What was nice I could see a difference in my sun damaged eyelid by the second day; the area between the upper and lower lid crease area was less crepe- y and definitely not sagging. What I wanted Clinique;s anti-gravity to be but isn't. Added plus: I got this on sale at a local supermarket. I think usually retails for 19.99. Yes I would re purchase.
Mascara -Jordana - Best Lash Extreme Volumizing Mascara
RingofFire 7/29/2012 12:22:00 PM
So far I am liking this. This is maybe my second day but gives my lashes a nice length without clumping. As long as you QUICKLY apply with upward strokes and let dry, you should have no problem. I only do my upper lashes and do not use a curler. My lashes are skimpy (see profile pics) but IRL with the product on it looks much thicker and gives them a nice natural length. I was able to remove this with a more oily remover without much lash fallout (deal breaker for me) and wipes to make sure all it was off. I was looking for something totally smudge-proof but I would have to buy a waterproof mascara. This is not totally water/smudgeproof but seems to stay on with regular wear --just don't take a nap (scrunch your face into a pillow;) or by accident rub your eyes. I am guessing this may be due to the fact its summer and very humid where I am. I usually try to wear a moisturizing concealer underneath, so no non- waterproof mascara is going to stay on perfectly, unless I prime my under-eye area with some powder. I found when I do this it pretty much is still on at the end of my work day which can be 10-12 hours. I would like to thank the fellow MUA er who suggested this. At 3.00 it cannot be beat. I love the simple black and purple packaging. Looks more like an expensive mascara you would get at Sephora. I purchased a second tube just in case. I hope Jordana does not discontinue this.
Shampoo -Suave - Professionals Keratin Infusion Color Care Shampoo
RingofFire 6/24/2012 9:26:00 AM
Thank you Suave for putting '' Keratin'' on the label and ''Low sulfate."I was fooled into thinking this would be good product at a great price for my aging, colored and fine hair. Thank you for stripping out most of the moisture out and seeming to decrease each hair shafts thickness that even my old standby conditioner had trouble bringing it back to life. You instead turned the clock forward 30+ years by giving the same texture of woman in her 80s. I hate you. UPDATE: Google search Suave Keratin Recall. Yes there is a lawsuit! I wish I had seen this before.*head bang* .
Cleansers -Yes To Carrots - Yes To Cucumbers Face Cleanser Towelettes
RingofFire 6/3/2012 10:58:00 PM
Updated review: Only downside is I needed at least 2 towelettes to take a light amount of makeup off (mascara, some eyeliner and concealer). Its okay but I think maybe needs to be more saturated. For taking off mascara I would probably need something stronger. My eyes are super sensitive now and this didnt seem to make them oily. In fact it works best with normal to oilier skin.It could be a little more gentle-there was some very slight stinging after I wiped. I think I need to find something unscented . For the first time, try the travel size first. Follow up with an eye cream afterward. Not the worst product but not the best for me either. Their packets are nice for travel.
Cleansers -Neutrogena - Naturals - Purifying Facial Cleanser
RingofFire 5/15/2012 9:12:00 AM
So far liking this very much, but I think it will be more of my fall/winter cleanser. Its very gentle and does not leave my face red or tight. I have combination skin that gets very oily in the t-zone during the summer plus have mild roseacea that shows mostly in hot weather or very drying products. I do not wear a lot of foundation anymore so this cleans pretty well with no noticeable residue or itchiness. Will update later if I notice breakouts, but so far its been a week and my skin is very smooth.
