Fragrances -Hermes - Un Jardin sur le Nil
rated 5 of 5

This was my roommate's signature scent and I loved it so much on her. Every time I went through an Hermes store, I would spritz it, thinking of her. It smells very different on me than it did on her. On her, I did not smell any sweetness or citrus, it was just ethereal yet addictive. On me, it smells like sweet clean baby skin, with a hint of tomato leaves. I think on both of us, it is amazing. At the duty free store, it was $74 for the 50ML (1.6oz) and $103 for the 100ML.

Skincare - Face -Noxzema - Exhilarating Wet Cleansing Cloths
rated 3 of 5
Rhythm21 3/25/2010 3:43:00 PM

I like the cloths for my face as the menthol and eucalyptus really cool me down on a hot day. However, it hurts to use them by my eyes. The packaging says it removes waterproof mascara so the cloths are designed to be used near the eyes, but the menthol is just too strong. As long as you don't use these cloths to remove eye makeup, I would recommend them.

Polishes -China Glaze - Drastic

This is my favorite red. It's dark but not vampy, applies evenly and easily, perfect with 2 coats. The color is classic and vintage with a bit more edge. It makes my hands look more refined.

Moisturizers -Christian Dior - HydrAction Deep Hydration Sorbet Creme

I thought I would like this because I like the Hydraction TM. I've only used this about a week but my skin hasn't been this bad in 3 years. The day after I used it, I woke up with stinging red irritation on my cheeks and bumps between my eyebrows. In the last few days my skin has become extremely dry and rough to the touch (like sandpaper) and has broken out in random places. I've NEVER had a reaction this bad to a product before. I'm no expert but I think it may be the alcohol content. I stopped using it for 2 days and my skin has almost returned to normal.

Polishes -Sally Hansen - Complete Salon Commander in Chic
rated 4 of 5
Rhythm21 1/2/2010 4:43:00 PM

Great formula- smooth application and opaque in 2-3 coats. The brush actually works really well for me- it's slightly tapered at the tip which helps with precision but is dense and thick for speedy application. The color is just a few shades lighter than OPI's You Don't Know Jacques on my hands. Comparing the two next to each other, the coloring looks exactly the same. It's a very pretty mushroom tone- comes out slightly darker than how it looks in the bottle.

Cleansers -Boots - time dimensions deep cleansing wipes
rated 3 of 5
Rhythm21 12/21/2009 7:28:00 PM

These cloths do remove all my makeup but the texture of the cloth is extremely scratchy (like wool). It is also rather heavily fragranced. For reference, my skin is not that sensitive and I usually don't mind fragrance. I much prefer the softer cloths by Equate or Neutrogena. About the anti-aging properties... I just wouldn't expect a pack of $7 cleansing wipes to do much anyway :)

Fragrances -Chanel - Chance
rated 4 of 5

This perfume works well with my chemistry. The scent is comforting and soft like baby powder and feels warm and inviting. Directly from the bottle, it smells rather harsh and bitter. The green version (Eau Fraiche) smells almost windexy on me..

Tinted Moisturizer -Laura Mercier - Tinted Moisturizer SPF 20 - Oil Free
rated 2 of 5
Rhythm21 11/5/2009 8:27:00 PM

I thought I'd love this.. but even this oil-free version made me look greasy. Felt like I had on foundation + a coating of serum on my face. Sounds like it works for many people so it's probably just my skin's reaction to it (I have pretty mild combo skin-- tzone is usually on the oily side with occasional flakes). plus the color shade didn't quite match (but it's possible I could have found a better shade if I tried harder.. just had a Sephora SA match me). And I'm now realizing that $42 is way too much to spend on a "tinted moisturizer" that doesn't work perfectly for me so I returned it to Sephora. It's lotion with color.... it shouldn't be $42, right?! Next on my list is Dior HydrAction TM at $38. does $4 make a difference at all.. ? haha.

Misc Beauty Tools -Clarisonic - Pro Skincare Brush
rated 5 of 5
Rhythm21 10/21/2009 8:18:00 PM

Another Clarisonic lover here.. I've used it three times and the blackheads on my nose are almost completely gone. The little speckly clogged pores on my face (around my nose) that I thought could not be extracted are GONE! I used to always hate that my skin was "textured" (not quite bumpy, not quite wrinkly..) because of these pores but now they're clean and my skin is smooth. Tips on usage: Rather than scrubbing your face with your brush turned on, just move it around to areas that you would like to focus on. Don't leave it on one area for too many seconds as it will become raw. I just do slow circular motions to avoid hurting myself while allowing the sonic technology to work its magic. Price: I got my pink Clarisonic Plus for $175 including two extra brush heads (usually $225 and comes with 1 brush head). I am considering getting the MIA from Sephora for the international charger as I travel occasionally. Value: I believe it's worth the price because it's a tool for deep cleansing. It does exfoliate obviously, but the main purpose is deep cleaning. With clean skin, the topical products I use work with more potency as it has more direct contact with my skin. No more clogged pores blocking the way!

Polishes -OPI - Suzi Skis in the Pyrenees
rated 5 of 5
Rhythm21 9/21/2009 7:31:00 PM

This review is for the Suede finish. I love it! I just can't wait until the colder, gloomier days when I can wear this dark gray polish. The finish is interesting because it's matte but has particles of .. glimmer? but they don't reflect light like glitter does. it's is hard to describe! you have to check it out. best part is it dries before your eyes but not before you're done painting (i.e. OPI mattes..) choose this for a fast classy manicure in the wintertime!

Lip Gloss -C.O. Bigelow - Lychee Mentha Lip Shine
rated 4 of 5
Rhythm21 7/24/2009 8:27:00 AM

This is the best tasting lip gloss/balm I've ever had! At first I was really disturbed about being able to taste it without licking my lips but I suppose it's formulated that way to freshen your breath. (?) It's sweet & fruity, has a slight minty tingle, & the shine makes my lips a hint redder than usual. It smells really good but a bit strong at first. Got it at the Bigelow store on a "Mentha Monday"- all flavors were only $3 each!

Lotions/ Creams -BeneFit Cosmetics - Touch Me Then Try To Leave Me cream [DISCONTINUED]
rated 3 of 5
Rhythm21 7/24/2009 7:21:00 AM

I loooved it at first but the scent seems to have changed over time. Instead of the clean Maybe Baby scent, it now smells like old wet towels. It still moisturizes & everything, but I just don't want to smell gross. I've had it for a few months and noticed the change about a month after purchase.

Treatments -Essie - quick-e drying drops
rated 4 of 5
Rhythm21 7/22/2009 9:36:00 PM

My favorite aspect of this is the dropper. Guarantees that I won't mess up my nails with a bad top coat job. the product label description gave me high hopes.. but it doesn't significantly shorten drying time. I got it for $3 at a beauty supply store but it's usually 5x that price most other places so maybe this is as good as it gets?

Polishes -Nicole - Nail Polish in Fanatical Fuschia
rated 4 of 5
Rhythm21 7/17/2009 2:33:00 AM

It's such a rockin color! Deep magenta that transforms into gleaming fuschia in certain lights. Medium purple indoors and neon/fluorescent (glowing?? I can't pick the right adj.!) royal magenta. I love it on my toes and I couldn't take my eyes off the color in the sun.
