Liquid -Revlon - PhotoReady Makeup
Rcasey1985 1/14/2010 8:00:00 PM
I am a PPP with very neutralish skin, neither too pink nor too yellow; I have dyed black hair and brown eyes. Because I use retinols and AHA products, my skin is fairly smooth although I still have old acne scars from high school (when I didn't know how to take care of my skin properly) that I like covered up. I also have redness around my nose from broken capillaries. I have used Revlon Colorstay for oily skin in Ivory for about five years, and I apply it (and the PR) with my SK blending sponge. I still get some oil breakthrough with Colorstay, but I've developed a habit of blotting every bathroom trip so I never have to worry about being shiny. The Colorstay lasts me all day without the "melting away" of makeup at my oiliest spots like other foundations used to on me. Now on to my thoughts on PhotoReady... I like it, and would use it if I didn't have my Colorstay. My skin, after putting blush and powder on, look exactly the same as it does with Colorstay on, aside from a slight sparkle, which doesn't bother me because it's only visible when I have my nose to the mirror. The only problems I have with PR is that it doesn't seem to last *quite* as long as my Colorstay and it seems like my concealer (Maybelline Superstay) is harder to blend in over the PR. I mainly wanted the PR to use it up and reuse the bottle, but it's not a bad foundation. Someone did say to me that my skin looked like a porcelain doll so I like the PR enough to use if my CS is missing in action.

Lipstick -Wet 'n' Wild - #521 - Fuschia w/ Blue Pearl
Rcasey1985 9/27/2009 8:45:00 AM
I am very fair (the fairest shade in all foundations) with brown eyes and black hair. I really wanted to try a bright, saturated pink/fuschia because vivid colors tend to look really nice against my fair skin. I wore this lipstick with Rimmel's Tiramisu liner (applied very lightly), and I think, if I hadn't eaten, it would have lasted hours and hours. It didn't bleed at all (not sure if it would without liner). After I had rubbed it off with a napkin and eaten, however, I put a nearly-clear gloss without reapplying the lipstick and, since the lipstick had apparently left a stain on my lips, it looked like I had applied a very pretty medium-toned rosy pink gloss. Love this lipstick!

Lipstick -Rimmel - Lasting Finish - Frosted
Rcasey1985 9/24/2009 12:19:00 AM
For reference, I am very fair - I don't know my MAC coloring, but am usually the lightest in any foundation line- with dyed black hair and very dark brown eyes. After seeing the reviews for Frosted, and loving most of Rimmel's nude lipstick colors, I had to have this one. I was a little concerned that it might be too light, or too frosty, for my fair complexion but no, this is a beautiful, wearable golden nude. To me, it's more like a metallic pale gold than a true nude. This description might scare you off, but don't let it; this lippie would look great on many different skin tones and would be a nice upgrade every now and then from typical nude lip looks. While I haven't worn this out yet, it seems to have the same texture and consistency of my other Rimmel lipsticks, which all last a good while without drying my lips out or being so "slick" that it wears off in half an hour. As for the smell, it doesn't bother me at all, and since I love Rimmel's lipstick, I've actually grown to like the scent. Overall, this lipstick is a must-have for nude lippie lovers (or anyone, really :) ).

Fragrances -Victoria's Secret - Pink with a Splash FRESH & CLEAN
Rcasey1985 11/9/2008 10:02:00 AM
I smelled the Fresh and Clean lotion on a relative and instantly loved it. It reminded me of my husband's Abercrombie Fierce cologne but more subtle and feminine. I had actually tried to wear Fierce once and found it just suffocated me when I wore it, so I was soooo happy to find this scent. Unlike other reviewers, though, it smells nothing like D&G Light Blue to me. I used to love Light Blue until I actually wore it on myself one day instead of just smelling it from my coworker, and I found that it suffocated me as well. Fresh and Clean, however, never suffocates me and just smells so light. I really wish it was available in EDT at least, though, because the body splash doesn't last on me at all. When I layer it with the lotion, however, the smell does last considerably longer and I just use the splash for 'touch-ups'. My one other complaint is that while the bottle is 'cute', that stupid square cap won't stay on if you try to carry it anywhere (although it's a bit heavy if you want it in your purse all day anyway). But the packaging isn't enough to keep me away, though, since Fresh and Clean smells so good. Highly recommend you try it!

Blush -Wet 'n' Wild - Silk Finish Blush 831D Pearlescent Pink
Rcasey1985 4/18/2008 11:12:00 PM
Let's see- I applied this at 12:30pm and it's now 11:06pm, and this blush looks as good now as when I first applied it (and that's after a lengthy 3 hour nap). It is gorgeous color, although not a straight pink as you might think from the name- it has some corally/peachy tones to it, and has a shimmer similar to that of MAC's Sheertone Shimmer blushes. It is very pigmented, as much as my MAC blushes or better, blends nicely and leaves an overall healthy flush. If only WnW's range of blush colors/finishes was more like MAC's range, I'd be in heaven- especially for the $2 and change price tag. Definitely something you should buy, and for less than $3 it's barely even breaking a no-buy to get it.

Sunscreen -Aveeno - Active Naturals Positively Ageless Daily Moisturizer SPF 30
Rcasey1985 2/6/2008 12:07:00 PM
So I found out recently my moisturizer's SPF was not stable and since I would like to not look like a leather bag when I'm 40, I set out to find a stable one- that is where this comes in. It has the same active ingredients as Neutrogena's SPFs with Helioplex (stable) but at a higher percentage. I have found that despite my super oily skin, as long as I use my MoM (which I used with everything, everyday) it doesn't cause me to be any more or less shiny than normal. I have also noticed the makeup priming benefit others have mentioned. I have been using this for over a month now and no new breakouts. Also, I have not noticed any strong scent whatsoever- it seems to have a rather bland scent if any, actually. So, to sum up, a wonderful product I would use again and again! **UPDATE 4/18/08** I was using this while using Retin-A to make sure I had stable sun protection, and I guess the Retin-A dried up my usually super oily skin even more than I thought, because while this was perfect while I was using Retin-A, I recently stopped the RA and found that this made my skin look like I had slathered cooking oil on it. I was having to blot about once every hour or two to control the excessive shine I was getting from using this. So sad, because it's a great product, but I can't use it anymore.

Lip Gloss -Wet 'n' Wild - Glassy Gloss Lip Gel in Brazen Berry
Rcasey1985 1/26/2008 2:51:00 PM
This has that cheap-flea-market-incense smell to it that I hate. Also, while this looks like an opaque, beautiful berry shade in the tube, it comes out on my slightly pigmented lips as crystal clear. The thing that does redeem it, though, is that it IS very glossy, which I love. It also has pretty decent staying power. I would consider buying it again if I needed a clear gloss, but look elsewhere if you want something that has any color to it at all.

Styling Products -TiGi - Bed Head After Party
Rcasey1985 1/8/2008 12:24:00 PM
I am so glad I didn't put this up for swap! I bought this in a set with Dumb Blonde shampoo and was just going to Ebay the After Party or swap it. However, I started looking at the reviews for it and I noticed that it was on a few HG lists... So i decided I should try it, and I am sooo glad I did! It made my hair look like a Pantene model's hair! It made my hair, while already in decent shape, even smoother and softer feeling and gave it luminous shine. The wonderful shine comes from the blue shimmer and pearly-looking ingredient in it- you can see it on your hands after you put it in your hair, although you can't see that there's a blue shimmer when it's in your hair; it just looks like a beautiful, healthy shine. I am sooo keeping this stuff now!

Lips -Wet 'n' Wild - Pout Protector spf 15
Rcasey1985 12/20/2007 11:02:00 PM
Wow! I have never found a tinted balm with colors I actually liked, until now. I bought this in "Tint of Blush" and it is the perfect slightly pink color for my lips, and I loooove the minty smell and the fact that it's got SPF. It's great for when I'm work and don't want to waste my nicer lipstuff. I am definitely going back for more colors now.

Lotions/ Creams -Neutrogena - Norwegian Formula Hand Cream
Rcasey1985 11/6/2007 7:21:00 PM
My right hand- yes, just the one right hand- has for some reason become eczematous this past year, and no amount of lotion or exfoliation could get it to at least look less dry, much less feel less dry. I picked this up at the store last week, my millionth different hand lotion this year, and was a little hopeful seeing that the package said it was made for fishermen in cold climates and would heal dry skin. Well, a week later, my hand is softer than it has been in a while and seems to be healing finally. My only complaint is the old lady smell, so next time I'll definitely get the unscented.

Mascara -Cover Girl - Lash Blast
Rcasey1985 11/5/2007 10:13:00 PM
I was so excited when I saw this at our Wal-Mart that I actually gasped and proceeded to tell my husband all about the reviews and how hard it was to find, so he put it in the buggy. So, today I used it for the first time and... blah. That's what it does for my lashes, blah. I have actually been using a $2.50 mascara from Rimmel that I like a lot, and this $7 mascara (a lot for a DS mascara) did nothing more than the Rimmel did. I have no idea why this has gotten so much hype- it was a total disappointment. Also, the brush is strangely large, so be careful. The back of the package actually says it has the "largest brush ever from Cover Girl"! I think anyone could figure out that the size of the brush has nothing to do with how well it ends up working anyway, but if you decide to buy it, be careful not to get it everywhere due to the brush.

Liquid -Neutrogena - Skin Clearing Oil-Free Makeup
Rcasey1985 11/3/2007 1:00:00 AM
I can't believe this doesn't have better reviews because I love it! When I first started to use it, I was sure I would hate it after I had it on because it was so runny, the consistency of water, but it looked so natural and flawless. Also, I have very ivory skin so I got the blushing ivory, and when I put it on, I couldn't tell I was putting anything on it matched my skin so well. I used this with the Skin Clearing pressed powder as well and my skin that usually gets frying pan shiny after two or three hours was still matte and beautiful after five hours- I only had to blot once the whole day! This will definitely be my HG foundation from now on.

Treatments -Unlisted Brand - Walgreens - Alpha Hydroxy Lotion 8%
Rcasey1985 9/22/2007 11:10:00 AM
OMG. I never knew a generic face lotion could make my skin soooo pretty. I have had my skin under control for a while- I don't break out very much ever thanks to my face wash, and my skin was pretty decently good texture-wise because I exfoliate at least once a week. However, a few days after exfoliating I would always get flaky and have to exfoliate again. I read the reviews on this lotion, though, and decided to try it just because I was curious, and I LOVE it! It made my skin even smoother, even though I thought it was as good as it could get- my skin just feels like a baby's bottom now. :) I also think it's helping with some of the small blackheads on my nose that I could never get rid of, and my pores are much less noticeable. I seriously heart this stuff.

Hair Styling Tools -Conair - Infiniti Tourmaline Ceramic Straightener - 2 inch plates
Rcasey1985 8/31/2007 10:21:00 PM
I LOOOOOOOOOVE this straightener. Love, love, love it. I can't say love enough I love it so much. I had an even cheaper straightener than this before ($20 retail versus this one's $45 retail price) and it constantly pulled out my hair and felt rough as I slid it over my hair. This one, though, NEVER pulls out any of my hair! I saw that some other reviewers had the problem that it did pull out some of their hair... I don't know, it hasn't pulled out any of mine. Plus, it feels so much smoother going over my hair, just like my hair stylist's super expensive flat iron. It heats up quickly and gets very hot- I keep it on the lowest setting and it does a great job! I would highly recommend this straightener, especially if you are thinking about buying a high-end straightener but really don't want to pay that much- this one gives as good results as any high end flat iron, IMO.

Fragrances -Giorgio Armani - Armani Code for women
Rcasey1985 8/5/2007 12:21:00 AM
This is probably my favorite scent ever... my husband loves it, too. It is, though, as others have said, strong. Well, more lasting than strong, really, but one spritz is very much enough. I always feel incredibly sexy when I wear it.
