Cleansers -Bliss Labs - Fabulous Foaming Face Wash
rated 5 of 5
Rayvenn 8/2/2007 10:29:00 PM

I purchased this cleanser, along with a whole regime from Bliss in hopes that I would find a great line that would deliver the results I want and actually have me stick to it. At first, I was very skeptical of this product, mostly because of the exfoliating beads in it. I've tried in the past Remede's cleanser that had a similar concept and I remember hating it because the beads were so large and rough, which is exactly the opposite of this cleanser. The first thing I love is the smell, it's fresh and delicious. I have to enjoy using my skincare, otherwise I wouldn't stick with it and this cleanser is a sensory dream. I agree that it doesn't really "foam" it's more of a gel but I noticed if you do splash your face a few times with water and work the cleanser in your hands first it foams nicely. The beads are so gentle and small, it's really a nice way to cleanse and exfoliate at the same time. This rinses clean and leaves my skin free of all makeup and debris. It is on the expensive side ($22), but the bottle lasted me about 3 months, which breaks down to about $7 and change a month which justifies it enough for me! Love it and will definitely be repurchasing.

Concealers -Bare Escentuals - Summer Bisque
rated 5 of 5

Rarely do I find a product line that I can truly say that I can walk out of the house just wearing concealer in select areas, but with BE I can most certainly do that. I have never used a powder concealer before, and I must say, I am completely hooked. I don't think I can go back to liquid concealers, which soak into my skin too fast, fade by mid-day and creep into the little fine lines of my face. BE's concealer is a winner for me, I can just wear this, or put my foundation over it if I wish but it's so not necessary. If there is just one product that I would repurchase from the BE line, it's this.

Loose Powders -Bare Escentuals - Mineral Veil
rated 4 of 5
Rayvenn 9/11/2005 9:41:00 AM

Really good product to set my BE foundation. A little goes a long way and I rarely have to reapply during the day. It keeps my oily T-Zone at bay, without without looking cakey or changing the color of my foundation. I will definitely be looking more into BE products in the future!

Blush -Bare Escentuals - Warmth All Over Face Color
rated 4 of 5
Rayvenn 9/11/2005 9:39:00 AM

I purchased Warmth along with my Fairly Light foundation, as I cannot be without a bronzer. My first reaction to this was horrified, as it looked scarily orange, but as the SA worked on my face, I really loved the result. Again, I'm not a fan of this packaging and you MUST use a very light hand when applying Warmth which takes awhile to master, but it's well worth it. This gives my skin a beautiful glow, and I love that I can mix this with my foundation during the summers months, with no need to purchase an additional foundation for the tanned months. I get many compliments on my skin when I use BE, I would definitely repurchase!

Powder -Bare Escentuals - Bare Minerals in 1.2, fairly light
rated 4 of 5
Rayvenn 9/11/2005 9:32:00 AM

Let me preface this review by saying that I first walked into the BE store after hearing the benefits of mineral makeup and the effect it has on the breakout prone. I have normal to combination skin, with occasional breakouts, but at the time when I decided to first try BE, I was experiencing some hormonal and stress-related breakouts which were more than my normal blemish here and there. I purchased Fairly Light, as well as Summer Bisque Concealer, Warmth, Mineral Veil and Kabuki brushes, and I couldn't be happier. I dislike the packaging, obviously, if you are not careful, it gets messy and you can waste product (minus one lipstick). The product took a little while to get used to, I normally use liquid foundation, so getting the right amount of product took some experimenting, but when I finally did get it right, I was more than pleased. This product was extremely light, left my skin looking flawless with that slight "glow" to which I have received many compliments on how wonderful my skin looked. This foundation not only provided incredible coverage for me, it did yet another that no other foundation has done, which was last all day, without fading or the need for touch ups. It did not change color on me either, as some reviewers have experienced. What I also like about BE, is that I exfoliate my skin frequently, and my color tends to go from light to medium often, so I can easily mix my foundation with Warmth, to match my skin, even during the summer, with no need of additonal foundations. The only annoyance that I did experience with continuous use (besides the packaging) which was easily overcome was that my skin felt a little more drier, so I started using a slightly more moisturizing base before application and I have had no problems since. I would also recommend using a liquid SPF under this. Even though this does have SPF in it, I still feel that you need to more coverage of a liquid than this powder can provide. Overall, I love this product and will repurchase it. Everyone has different experiences with products, I don't expect every product to work miracles for every one, but this is one product defintely worth checking out.

Toners -Neutrogena - Sensitive Skin Solutions Alcohol-Free Toner
rated 1 of 5
Rayvenn 3/8/2005 8:55:00 PM

Even though the price isn't that bad, it's not even worth it. I'd rather use Dove toner than this. It's nice and refreshing, but like it's cleanser, it doesn't do much. I'm not sure how really sensitive skins are doing with it - I'm not that sensitive and found it to sting a bit.

Cleansers -Neutrogena - Sensitive skin solutions - combination skin
rated 1 of 5
Rayvenn 3/8/2005 8:53:00 PM

This has got to be the worst cleanser I've ever tried. Wait, I stand corrected, it comes in second, next to Clinque's Comforting Cream Cleanser. This doesn't really foam, it's kind of slimy, but the real problem is that it barely removes anything form your face, including any makeup. I don't wear a lot, so I feel that this did not clean my skin at all. I usually never return stuff, but this is going back to Ulta.

Cleansers -Neutrogena - Fresh Foaming Cleanser
rated 2 of 5
Rayvenn 3/8/2005 8:48:00 PM

This cleanser completely removed all traces of makeup, foamed nicely, but didn't leave much to the imagination - it stripped me dry. A good cleanser for removing *everything* but I would not recomend this to anyone unless you are an oil slick. Those with Combo/Normal/Dry skin - pick a less stripping, more gentle cleanser. Eek.

Toners -Mario Badescu - Alpha-Grapefruit Cleansing Lotion
rated 5 of 5
Rayvenn 11/24/2004 11:40:00 AM

Another fabulous product from Mario Badescu. I used this Alpha-Grapefruit Cleansing Lotion in conjunction with his Orange Cleansing Soap and this combination did wonders from my normal to combination skin. Made with Citrus Extracts (Alpha-Hydroxy Acid) and nourishing Seaweed Extract, it helps promote exfoliation of dead skin cells for a smoother complexion. Gentle, effective - my skin never looked better.

Cleansers -Mario Badescu - Orange Cleansing Soap
rated 5 of 5
Rayvenn 11/24/2004 11:37:00 AM

I am in love with this cleanser. I wanted a cleanser with gentle exfoliating action and I got it with Mario Badescu's Orange Cleansing Soap. This creamy rinse-off cleanser smells dreamy and contains Orange Extract (alphahydroxy acid) which gently loosens dirt, debris and build-up skin cells, leaving skin balanced, refreshed, clear and glowing. The price is amazing too, $12 for an 8 oz. bottle or $20 for a 16 oz bottle. A winner from Badescu!

Moisturizers -MAC - Studio Moisture Cream (Moisture Feed/Skin)
rated 5 of 5
Rayvenn 3/4/2004 10:57:00 AM

A friend of mine gave me a decant from her full size jar into a huge sample jar for me to test out. I've been using this moisturizer for about a week now and I must say it's lovely. It has a subtle scent which I like, sinks right in and smoothes and softens my skin incredibly. It also gives my skin this "fresh" appearance as opposed to the "oily" appearance that some heavy duty moisturizers do. My makeup goes on evenly and looks natural when using this underneath. In regards to its price, $25 doesn't seem like much to me, considering I have used many high end moisturizers which never cost me less than $40, so this is a steal for me. After my generous sample is depleted, I will be purchasing a full size jar!

Other -MAC - Mixing Medium Water Based
rated 4 of 5
Rayvenn 2/24/2004 11:09:00 AM

I love this product, although using Visine works just as well for me. I use this Mixing Medium for my pigments and eyeshadows (especially ones with Glitter, or ones that I want to make more intense). The result is creamy, long lasting, *striking* color! It's a pain to get a hold of this though, my nearest Pro Store in is NYC. The bottle is big, and you really only need a drop of this to create the beautiful effect of liquid eyeshadow or liner.

Gels/Soaps -Olay - Complete for Dry Skin with Shea Butter
rated 3 of 5
Rayvenn 2/23/2004 11:38:00 AM

I have had a bad track record with most of Oil of Olay's body care products, especially their body washes. However, since I am such a sucker for anything with Shea Butter, I promptly ran out to Walgreens to buy this after seeing the commercial for it. Another reviewer, I believe AprilH (posted in a different section, look under Skincare-Body, without choosing the Gel/Soaps category) noted that Shea Butter is the third to last ingredient in this body wash (after the preservatives), which I did not notice until after reading that review and then looking at the ingredient label, which mean that the amount of Shea Butter in this is meniscule. This annoyed me very much due to the fact that they a mis-representing the product (minus one lipstick). Overall, this product smells lovely, which lasts for a little while, and lathers well, but I find it doesn't really moisturize my dry skin enough. It does better than their other washes, but it cannot top Dove's washes (minus another lipstick). I may purchase this again for the scent if it was on sale, but I am very disappointed with Oil of Olay for claiming something that their product is not.

Lotions/ Creams -Clarins - After Sun Shimmer Moisturizer
rated 5 of 5
Rayvenn 2/17/2004 1:04:00 PM

The only product from Clarins line that will re-purchase again and again. This bronze shimmer lotion is excellent, smells wonderful and is non-greasy. The lotion comes in a spray pump (you use less product this way), which looks white but when blended into your skin gives a subtle bronze shimmer that looks beautiful. Expensive for a shimmer lotion, but my bottle lasted me quite a long time.

Self Tanners -Clarins - Gelee Auto Bronzant Express - Self-Tanning Instant Gel
rated 3 of 5
Rayvenn 2/17/2004 12:50:00 PM

I like this gel better than the milk version that Clarins offers really only for the fact that is dries faster. However, you do get this slightly sticky feeling and the smell is not so pleasant. The color result is the same golden color that I experienced with the milk, so I feel that this does not look very natural on me. The plus side to using Clarins is that you can apply the self tanner and walk out of your house in the morning. Most tanners I have used have color guides, which are best used at night. Clarins are the least expensive self tanners I've tried, and if I was really desperate to whisk away the paleness of winter, I may repurchase but otherwise I have a laundry list of ones I would rather use.
