Lip Gloss -Rock & Republic - Luxe Lip Gloss in Tyrant
Rapunzelle 11/25/2010 2:35:00 AM
I have been looking for a gloss like this for ages. It reminds me of what Clinique's Black Honey would be like if it were a bit more pigmented. ~Color: a bit frightening in the tube, even though the color is strong and pigmented, there's nothing to be afraid of. The application is smooth and even and there's a sheerness when the gloss is applied lightly that can be built up to a richer hue. I love wine tinged glosses, but so often they either pull too brown or too fuchsia on me. Tyrant is perfect, not leaning one way or the other. It's what I wanted so many other glosses to be. ~Lasting ability: The darker R&R glosses apply more like liquid lipstick than glosses, but maintain a certain translucency even though they are highly pigmented. The color lasts much better than other glosses and leaves a nice stain on my lips. ~Texture: Smooth, thick yet weightless, not sticky or tacky, yet not runny or watery. Moisturizing and very comfortable. ~Scent: pleasant subtle vanilla In the pictures, Tyrant is the top shade shown (other shades are hot Sauce & Cougar)

Eye Shadow -Wet 'n' Wild - Holiday 2010 LE Night Elf eyeshadow palette
Rapunzelle 11/17/2010 6:04:00 PM
I am extremely fair so I usually shy away from palettes like this with darker shades or strange brights. I'm so glad I decided to go for it anyway! The shadows are all so creamy, velvety, and pigmented! They blend like a dream so even though they are pigmented, they can be applied very sheerly. Any sparkle or shimmer is very fine and I didn't have any fallout problems at all. ~Ivory: cool ivory with silver shimmer. A tad frosty for my taste, but I still really like it. ~Silver: this is a true silver, cool toned and not too light or dark. lots of shimmer ~Gold: I completely adore this color! It's a very muted taupey gold with shimmer, a and just a hint of opalescence and micro sparkle. It's soooo subtle and neutral and sophisticated looking. I'm completely in love with this color and wish they made it as a single! ~Red: This is a true neutral red with micro sparkle. I'm not sure if I can pull it off as an eyeshadow, but it actually looks gorgeous as a blush! Similar to NARS Exhibit A but with less orange and a touch of subtle red micro sparkle (I tend to hate shimmer or sparkle on the cheeks, but this is very subtle). ~Green/blue/black/brown: it's really hard to say what this color even is. It's supposed to be a dupe of MAC Club and Too Faced Label Whore. From what I have seen, it's MUCH more beautiful than Club. It looks nearly black in the pan, but goes on a rich duochrome plum brown with strong blue/green opalescence. I can't usually wear dark colors without looking like a bruised zombie, but this was a pleasant surprise! Even though it's quite pigmented, it blends like a dream and can be applied very sheerly as a result, giving a very subtle effect. ~Black: rich, pigmented black with silver sparkles. The black is so pigmented that it makes a wonderful liner, even dry! I love how versatile this palette is for day or night, from subtle and sheer, to an intense smoky eye, and with a red that doubles as blush and a black that makes a great liner, it's even more versatile! The quality of these shadows is hard to believe! It's just as good as the higher end shadows I have (UD, NARS, TF, Stila, Lorac, dior, etc) and at a ridiculous value at less than $1 per shadow! If I find this again I'll probably have to get a backup I love it so much!

Conditioner -LUSH - Retread
Rapunzelle 11/16/2010 2:31:00 PM
I'm a "cone" free girl so I'm always looking for great hair products with no silicones in them. I'd heard good things about Lush products, and I love using natural, gentle hair products, so I thought I'd give this a go. Retread is supposed to be moisturizing and repairing to the hair, and give it volume and shine. This did none of these things to my very long dry, not thick/not fine, tangle prone hair. Scent: considering this is a natural conditioner, the fragrance is very artificial and plasticky smelling. It really stinks! It has almost a tar/petrolium/synthetic smell that leaves a putrid stench in my hair that does not dissipate even after a couple of days. Texture: it's not runny, but was much lighter weight than I expected, almost like just a regular conditioner. My hair soaked it up as though it was water so I had to keep applying more and more to get it covered. Slip: I don't expect a ridiculous amount of slip from a cone free conditioner, but this was ridiculous! It almost made it more difficult to get a comb through my wet hair! I had to gob it on to get it to the point where I could try to detangle. Results: Once my hair was dry, it looked ok. Not horrible, but about par with a cheap, light non-moisturizing conditioner. The ends were still parched, there was no more shine than usual, nor volume. It was basically the same as if I had not used conditioner, except it smelled a whole lot worse. Value: at $25 for an 8.4oz jar, this is not the greatest value. Even worse, because of the way my hair soaked it up, the entire tub only lasted me four washes!!! Honestly, I wouldn't pay one cent to use this again, let alone $6 a wash, which is what it averages out to! Packaging: A lot of people hate tubs, but they don't bother me. I like being able to scoop out every last drop of a product. So to recap: Rank odor, did absolutely nothing for my hair, and a horrible value. I really hope I end up liking my other products from Lush more than this

Lipstick -Rimmel - Lasting Finish - Airy Fairy
Rapunzelle 11/14/2010 3:48:00 AM
I'm extremely fair (PPP) with rather pigmented lips, so this lippie was a few shades lighter than my natural lip color and ended up looking as though I had smeared a concealer with grey undertones all over my lips, resulting in a Zombie-chic effect. I had picked this one up based on the reviews, but I should have known better. The texture was nice though, and I'm sure on someone else, this might look quite lovely, so two stars for that.

Blush -NARS - Super Orgasm
Rapunzelle 10/24/2010 1:01:00 AM
Chunky glitter explosion!!!! It's such a shame since the color itself is lovely. I don't need gold disco balls on my cheeks though so it's a pass for me.

Blush -NARS - Creme Blush in Cactus Flower
Rapunzelle 10/24/2010 12:59:00 AM
I love the shade, love the texture, don't love the sparkles. With something like this I want to apply it with a light hand so it looks as natural as possible. Huge chunks of gold glitter don't really help that happen. *sigh*

Lip Gloss -NARS - Orgasm
Rapunzelle 10/24/2010 12:56:00 AM
This is the same gloss as every other run of the mill peachy/golden gloss out there.... actually this one is closer to the bottom of the barrel. I was completely unimpressed. It's not horrible, but certainly nothing special. The texture isn't great and neither is the price.

Lip Gloss -NARS - Turkish Delight
Rapunzelle 10/24/2010 12:53:00 AM
A more fitting name for this one would be "corpse in a tube". I don't see how this could possibly flatter anyone! It's chalky and washes one out to an extreme extent. Yuck!

Lipstick -NARS - Lipstick in Dolce Vita
Rapunzelle 10/24/2010 12:50:00 AM
I might as well have simply applied clear balm. This matches my lips so closely that it missed out on the "but better" part. The texture is nice, but it's quite pricy and I have seen many other similar/better MLBB lipsticks out there at much better values. There's nothing special about this one.

Blush -Smashbox - Double Exposure Lip and Cheek Tint in Speed Racer
Rapunzelle 10/20/2010 2:41:00 PM
I was really hoping to love this one. I'm a huge cream blush fan and adore products that do double duty for lips and cheeks. Unfortunately this one fell short. The texture is nice and creamy and goes on sheer. It's too sheer to wear on the cheeks without applying enough that it ends up looking greasy (and I'm a super duper pale girl so it doesn't usually take much product to show up on me). on the lips, it somehow feels dry. I think the color might suit others better. I have extremely fair porcelain skin and it made my cheeks look dirty and my lips look corpse-like. I usually like warmer toned products, but this one was so brown it just looked like dirt on me. Overall, I think this product is mediocre, but might end up working well on someone with different colouring than me.

Lip Treatments -H & M - Organic Lipbalm
Rapunzelle 10/4/2010 2:39:00 PM
What a gem! I'm talking HG material here!!! I am... well the nice term is a lip product connoisseur, and the not so nice term is a lip product hoor... anyway, I pretty much have to try any lip treatment I can get my grubby little hands on, so when I saw this at H&M, I had to try it on. I wasn't expecting much as most random lipbalms are not much more than petroleum jelly, but as soon as I put this on I was in love. The texture is thick, slick, luscious, and plushy. It's not sticky, it's not oily, nor is it waxy. It is perfection! My lips are left feeling plump and moisturized with an understated shine. The vanilla fragrance is very subtle. This feels soooo expensive and could compete with any high end treatment I have ever tried. The fact that it's organic is simply frosting on the cake, and the ingredient list is wonderful and reminds me of some VERY expensive products. I liked it so much I actually got two! Ingredients: Lanolin, Jojoba Seed Oil, Beeswax, Tocopherol, Vanilla Fruit Extract, Sunflower Seed Oil. Given the ingredients I imagine this would be wonderful on chapped skin and minor burns as well! For $5 you get a generous .5oz, and it's all contained in a charming floral printed tube, perfect for easy application. I'm afraid they may not carry it for long so I might have to stock up on these. I would buy it again and again!

Primer/ Corrector -Clinique - Pore Minimizer Instant Perfector
Rapunzelle 10/3/2010 11:30:00 PM
I have fine pores to begin with, but was hoping to find something to minimize pores on my nose and inner cheeks, and mattify a bit without completely drying me out. This does just that! I've never tried it all over as a primer since I don't really wear foundation, but this is just perfect to make my t zone look perfect and velvety. It's a tiny tube, but it lasts a looong time since it just takes a dab.

Lipstick -Lipstick Queen - Oxymoron
Rapunzelle 9/28/2010 12:49:00 PM
I think i have this in Honest Politician, though I'm not completely sure since the label came off. As a lipstick this is fair. It is a little on the dry side and it looks caky unless I apply it sparingly (almost like a stain). However, as a blush, this is amazing!!!! I just lightly touch it with my finger and rub it into my cheeks, and it looks completely natural and lasts for a loooong time. I do agree the packaging is cheap looking and the color selection could be better, but I have been using this practically every day for months and months and have barely made a dent and always have a pretty natural-looking flush on the apples of my cheeks. LOVE!!!!

Eye Shadow -Cover Girl - Smoky ShadowBlast
Rapunzelle 9/27/2010 8:06:00 PM
I usually love cream eyeshadows, but this one is awful! The concept is so great its a shame this one falls on its face. They are too greasy to have any staying power, and they apply unevenly. Yuck!

Concealers -Hard Candy - Nobody's Perfect concealer palette
Rapunzelle 9/27/2010 6:17:00 PM
I had to try this because the packaging is so cute. Bad call. The formula smears and sits on top of the skin instead of blending in. The packaging fell apart after one use. :(
