Blush -Coastal Scents - Contour & Blush Palette
rated 4 of 5

I love the contouring shade - very natural and blends nicely. I use the white a lot, and the blush only sometimes. I don't use the the peach and yellow shades very often, sometimes I mix with the blushes. I agree the blushes are too close in color. Although I don't find any of the pigments too strong. Maybe you just need a soft brush to pick up less color. I wish Coastal Scents offered them individually or in a duo/trio. I broke the brown powder trying to depot it but I'm not going to spend another $20 to buy/ship another full palette :(

Palettes -Unlisted Brand - Z Palette-Large
rated 5 of 5

I love the clear window! I have several palettes and hate flipping through each one to find what I'm looking for. In reply to RedOrchid: <> The MAC pans have reversed magnets (or so I've heard) and you need to use the magnetic stickers so they stick in the Z Palette. Sorry you had a problem with customer service though :( I'm not sure when but I know that Z Palette did improve the strength of the magnetic base at some point. The one I have is super strong and some pans are actually very difficult to move (purchased mine around November 2010). Some cheaper cosmetics simply have weak magnetic pans so they might need the little stickers to hold them in place. The cardboard is very sturdy and seems to have some kind of protective coating (it's shiny). I don't see how wiping it down with a damp cloth would damage it. I guess I would take care to keep any palette, plastic OR cardboard, away from water. Love Z Palette!!

Makeup Brushes -E.L.F. - Eyeshadow Brush
rated 5 of 5
RadMom32 3/2/2011 11:08:00 PM

This is a great little brush even if it cost more than $1. Highly recommend! It's very universal: firm enough to pick up and deposit a good amount of color, but soft enough to blend as well. Its shape works well on the lid, crease, brow highlight and for blending. (You probably won't be able to get sharp detail in the crease but you will get nice shading). I have lots of brushes, some expensive and some not, and this ELF brush is one I would use daily.

Styling Products -TiGi - Bedhead Small Talk
rated 4 of 5
RadMom32 3/2/2011 10:50:00 PM

I love this for my fine, medium/long, layered hair. It leaves hair SOFT - I used TIGI Bedhead Superstar previously which did thicken hair but left it a little crunchy if I remember correctly. I don't love the sweet smell of this because it can compete with other scents you're wearing but it's not a deal breaker. The only CON is that I think this product may make my hair more resistant to curl.

Eye Shadow -Coastal Scents - 88 colors warm palette
rated 5 of 5
RadMom32 2/21/2011 8:06:00 PM

I have several eye shadow palettes and this is the one I always reach for. A nice mix of light, dark, shimmer and mattes. There is a light gold-ish shimmer that I especially love as a lid color. I have been using it several months and the hinge of the plastic palette has just somehow broken, which isn't the worth thing ever since I would love to depot them into my Z Palette anyway. Let's face it, many shades of brown, cream, taupe etc. seem alike - or boring - so this diverse palette is a great way to see which shades you use most often, and then repurchase in the larger "hot pots" from CS.

Clumpy. Even when you pull the wand from the tube, it's covered in clumps!

Mascara -Maybelline - Full 'N Soft Mascara
rated 3 of 5
RadMom32 2/21/2011 7:47:00 PM

I felt this was clumpy and I had to run a metal comb through my lashes to look decent. Clumping aside (could be user-error), it is definitely not a volume-building mascara. I still prefer Neutrogena Healthy Volume 100x over.

Polishes -Wet 'n' Wild - Wild Shine - Caribbean Frost 446B
rated 5 of 5

Bought this for my daughter and the color is just as pretty as in the bottle. Formula seems nice and thick and it really delivers on the shine factor.

Polishes -Wet 'n' Wild - Megalast Nail Color - Bite the Bullet
rated 1 of 5
RadMom32 2/21/2011 7:20:00 PM

First off, I LOVE this color. However it starts to peel same-day, even with a good base coat and top coat. Maybe I got a defective brush/applicator but it was really thick and round and not cut blunt so it went on funky. I don't expect the best from Wet N Wild but this certainly doesn't live up to the name "Megalast". The Megashine that I also purchased for my daughter looks/lasts much better.

Misc Beauty Tools -Unlisted Brand - Nuface Microcurrent Facial Toning System
rated 5 of 5
RadMom32 11/15/2010 2:52:00 PM

I have given NuFACE treatments to many, many women of all ages and skin types. There is always a result with just one treatment (and lasts 2-3 days). Skin is immediately and visibly smoother and more firm, cheekbones and jawline are sculpted, and brows are lifted. People continually tell me their skin looks even tighter the next day because NuFACE accelerates your natural production of collagen, elastin and muscle protein which continues to improve post-treatment. I usually see a significant improvement in under-eye puffiness, and find that women often don't need foundation after a treatment because NuFACE improves circulation of the blood and lymph which moves excess fluids and leaves skin glowing. I prefer to use aloe vera gel instead of the conductivity gel because it hydrates skin and doesn't have to be washed off. If you don't feel you're seeing results, you probably have pretty darn close to perfect skin or you're not using it properly (ask a local retailer to show you the advanced holding techniques for targeted results). Ongoing use is supposed to actually lift the facial muscles, similar to the cumulative benefits of exercise. I would recommend for the 40+ crowd who has visible signs of aging. It may seem expensive at first glance, but it's a lot cheaper than having work done! It's really the same as a couple of microcurrent treatments with a professional, but if you buy the device you can do it every day. By the way, NuFACE and NuSKIN are totally different. NuSkin is galvanic, direct current which cannot penetrate the muscle, and NuFACE is alternating current with a smaller ampere that can penetrate the muscle. Both can penetrate product and aid in extracting impurities in the skin, but only NuFACE can offer the toning benefits.

Crème -Maybelline - Dream Smooth Mousse
rated 4 of 5
RadMom32 11/15/2010 12:45:00 PM

Maybelline's Dream Mousse products kept popping up in my life so I just had to try it. I have been using some really good (read: professional and/or expensive) foundations but I felt like I should see what drugstore brands have to offer (more on that later). After a couple uses, I was really surprised and impressed with Dream Smooth Mousse. The coverage is great, if you like full coverage. It has a pretty nice finish, a tad shiny so I set with Laura Mercier translucent powder for longevity. With powder it lasted around 6 hours before the shine re-emerged and needed to be touched up which is as good as any other foundation I've used. The coverage definitely lasted. I got the shade Creamy Natural for my light/medium, peachy-with-freckles-and-redness skintone ... at first, using the sponge to apply, it seemed too beige (looked good on but didn't match my neck) but once I started using my stippling brush it matched a little better. I did like the sponge though. I s'pose I would try another shade next time (yes, there may be a next time!). For the bad part, I did get some breakout using this foundation, but I also slept in it which couldn't have helped (I get that with my professional Graftobian HD creme too though). But I use really good skincare so my skin bounces back really quickly. Another side-note, I think you will see a better result if you exfoliate (or, I washed with my Clarisonic). Overall I think it's great coverage and if you're diligent about washing it off at night you might avoid breakout... I know it has tons of crap in it like parabens which is why you pay more for the fancy skincare-oriented cosmetics, but to each her own. One thing though, why do they call it "mousse"? It's not whipped or anything, it's just pressed cream... I might try the Dream Matte Mousse which I think is more whippy just out of curiousity.

Mascara -Sephora - Lash Plumper
rated 5 of 5
RadMom32 9/8/2010 8:21:00 PM

Loved getting this as my birthday freebie from Sephora! It ties with Neutrogena Healthy Volume for my all time favorite mascara. I love the brush, it coats nicely and washes off easily (more length than volume). Neutrogena is messy to remove because of the olive oil, BUT it fattens lashes better and it's cheaper so it's the one I would spend my money on.

Cleansers -Burt's Bees - Deep Cleansing Cream with Soap Bark and Chamomile
rated 2 of 5
RadMom32 7/19/2010 3:08:00 PM

While I do appreciate creamy cleansers, this one just does not clean well nor does it wash away. I know because when I apply glycolic acid or a toner type of product immediately after washing, the dirt and makeup still shows up on the pad. Also, I don't like the peppermint/menthol ingredients because I usually like to go over my eye area when I wash my face, but this cleanser is too heavy and will sting your eyes. Will not be buying again. I think Alba is a better "natural" drugstore brand that I would try next time. I believe that Burts Bees was bought by some mega company and has changed its formulas anyway, so it no longer lives up to its "clean and natural" reputation.

Misc Beauty Tools -Clarisonic - Pro Skincare Brush
rated 5 of 5
RadMom32 7/19/2010 2:53:00 PM

Love my Clarisonic. Skin instantly feels taut and smooth, not to mention super clean. If you're spending money on good skincare products, the Clarisonic will give you more bang for your buck because it allows those serums and creams to penetrate deeper. I keep mine in the shower and it holds a charge for weeks.

Misc Beauty Tools -Ardell - Invisibands Babies
rated 4 of 5
RadMom32 7/19/2010 2:33:00 PM

They look so natural/understated that people with very sparse lashes could wear them everyday. That said, if it's a special occasion you probably want something a **little** more noticeable which is why these aren't a staple in my kit.
