Primer/ Corrector -The Body Shop - Mattifier IT
rated 4 of 5

I have quite oily skin and found this little number to be quite good at stopping the 'sinking into the pores' effect! A fairly good primer but I didn't find much of a 'mattifying' effect. Would also be a lot better if it had sunscreen in it - three layers is a little much first thing in the morning!

Lipstick -Maybelline - Color Sensational

Pretty much a perfect drugstore lipstick. Creamy, long-lasting, great colour choices. I'm very pale but I like a deep colour lipstick and my choices from each of the four colour groups were - Red Revival, Warm Me Up, Party Pink and best of all, Plum Perfect.

Loose Powders -Maybelline - Shine Free Oil Control Loose Powder

I used this all the way through the eighties, when I was just starting out, but was swept away by Poppy's Pale powder in the Geisha collection (we're looking at about 1993 here.) When Poppy got discontinued I stockpiled it like mad, and I didn't run out until 2010. So now I'm back with Maybelline, but often keep my eye out for a paler shade.

Liquid -Cover Girl - TRUblend Liquid Makeup (12/2007 reformulation)
rated 4 of 5

I love this (and not just because of the nod to Trublood in the name.) It goes on smooth and comforting, and they make Ivory (501) pale enough for us sun-shunning types. Although it doesn't display an SPF rating, the high presence of titanium dioxide seems to be enough for day to day. Love it. (One thing - it's a little hard to get to the bottom of the bottle. The 'squirt' tap is maybe not the best construction for it.)

Lip Treatments -The Body Shop - Hemp lip conditioner (stick)

A really good moisturing lip balm with staying power. I find leaving it on overnight gives you that nice pouty look in the morning. Cracks and flakes be gone!

Treatments (Eye) -Olay - Definity Eye Illuminator
rated 3 of 5

So far this seems to work quite well on tired eyes and little lines. I am sucked in by the fact that it is sparkly. After I've used the whole thing I'll decide whether or not I'll buy it again, but it's hard to find anything with topherol etc in it..

Toners -Dove - Essential Nutrients Clarifying Toner
rated 5 of 5
RabbitwithFangs 11/14/2011 5:17:00 AM

Quite possibly the best toner in the world and it's under $12 dollars. No alcohol, but some retinoids and really good moisture-binding ingredients - someone with oiler skin doesn't even need to use a moisturizer. Go, Dove.!

A great, really gentle scrub you can use everyday (especially if you've got combination skin like me.) My husband likes this one too.

Cleansers -Neutrogena - Fresh Foaming Cleanser
rated 5 of 5

I love this cleanser - takes off makeup and daytime dirt and I don't need to buy a seperate eye-makeup remover anymore. It genuinely leaves my face clean and smooth, and it's a decent price, with NO ALCOHOL! Neutrogena are on a winner with this.
