Lipstick -Wet 'n' Wild - 511B Nouveau Pink
PrettyPouty 6/23/2011 11:30:00 AM
Wow! I am pleasantly surprised at the color and quality of this one (Nouveau Pink, 511B) and for .99 cents you can't beat it! I love this shade because it is a rich, creamy fuschia pink but not neon bright and not too purple or red as so many fuschias are. It's also fairly pigmented and a lovely texture. I scoured MAC's pinks but Lickable was too dark and Girl About Town was too purple, Impassioned too bright. I can't believe I found what I wanted at the drugstore for one buck! I would definately recommend for all skin tones. The packaging is cheap but I expect it to be at that price. The only thing I'd change is that it's a tad too creamy for my taste, I prefer a more semi matte or satin finish. This color is so pretty and I will definitely pick up a few extras.

Lipstick -Bobbi Brown - Sandwash Tulle
PrettyPouty 6/16/2011 10:09:00 AM
While I love Tulle and wear it often, Sandwash Tulle was a big disappointment. I love the quality, wearability and finish of Bobbi's regular, semi matte lipsticks which is why I persist in trying new colors but I continue to have trouble finding shades I like. I wish she had more pinks that truly are pink. I thought Sandwash Tulle (based on the description and an online chat with MUA) would be a lighter, softer version of Tulle. On me, however, it looks like a darker, pinked up brown but with very little pink in the shade. It seems many of her lipsticks are just too bland and muted down with brown undertones. Sent it back....on to the next.... :-)

Lipstick -MAC - Satin - Pink Nouveau
PrettyPouty 6/16/2011 9:30:00 AM
I finally bought this shade after a lot of "should I??" and I LOVE it!!! Pink Nouveau is a gorgeous, "Barbie" pink that is unique because it doesn't seem to be completely warm or cool toned. It does have a lavendar cast to it which might be what makes it more versatile. I have a warm skin tone with pink and gold undertones and just a light tan and this shade looks so good on me. (IMO anyway!) I thought the purple in Pink Nouveau might not work on me (which is why I was so doubtful about trying it) but it does! The lavendar is what makes this shade a more sophisticated Barbie pink that isn't quite so bubble gummy. It can be bright depending on application but not overly so. I consider Candy Yum Yum and Girl About Town to be in the neon category. PN is a shade that I would classify as a "bright" (like Chatterbox) which puts it somewhere in between neon and the tame shades like Sweety. The MAC MUA said she thinks it looks good on any skin tone and that seems to be true. I also love love the Satin finish! Lustre, it turns out, wears off too quickly and Cremesheen is too melty and messy IMO. I would recommend a little lip conditioner or balm under this shade and you are set! :-)

Lipstick -MAC - Amplified Creme - Chatterbox
PrettyPouty 5/6/2011 11:02:00 PM
I have medium skin with pink and yellow undertones and was searching for a warmer bubblegum pink. Chatterbox is the one I like best so far. It is a tad on the warm side and can look brighter or softer depending on much you apply. I would describe it as a creamy, semi bright, bubblegum pink with maybe a hint of red undertones. Gorgeous! Some have said this is very dupable but I disagree because many bubblegum pinks are too cool. *Update*....ok, although I still love this shade I have had trouble with the amplified finish because it makes the lipstick so soft it is almost "mushy" in the bullet and thus messy to apply unless you use a lip brush.

Blush -Bobbi Brown - Pot Rouge for Lips and Cheeks - Calypso Coral
PrettyPouty 4/20/2011 10:48:00 AM
Bobbi's Pot Rouges have become one of my favorite makeup staples! I have never liked cream blush until I tried this and now I am sold. Pot Rouges are highly pigmented so a little goes a long way. I find that it blends beautifully and looks very natural on my skin. Although others have said it wears off quickly for them I found it to be just the opposite, excellent all day staying power. Maybe it depends on your skin type? I tend to have combination skin so not sure it that makes a difference. I also love that it doesn't feel sticky on my skin and I can blend easily with my fingers. My favorite shade so far is Calypso Coral. It is a true, bright coral, not pinky or peachy like some coral blushes may appear. I would recommend this shade for anyone with medium to dark skin, tanned or olive. I think this shade might be a tad too bright for someone with a porcelain or fair complexion. Pale Pink is also gorgeous and a bit brighter than you'd expect but again application level makes all the difference. They are expensive for a blush product but well worth it in my opinion based on the quality and also because they last so long. Enjoy!

Lipstick -Maybelline - Color Sensational - Fuchsia Fever
PrettyPouty 4/18/2011 7:01:00 PM
I have never worn a lipstick this bright before but I LOVE Fuchsia Fever! I looked at MAC's Pink Nouveau, Chatterbox, Pink Friday and even a few of Bobbi Brown's brighter shades in a quest for a shamelessly Barbie Pink lipstick. I have my safe, pretty pinks but this time I wanted the "Centerfold Bunny" pink, LOL! Fuchsia Fever isn't too cool, too warm, too purple or too cotton candy. This is a gorgeous, bright, fuschia pink that probably leans to the cool side but could be called neutral. It isn't screamin' neon (you know who you are, Candy Yum Yum) and on me it doesn't pull any purple tones at all. I will always love MAC but this time I scored in the drugstore! There is no shimmer or glitter to it and I believe this shade would be fabulous on a wide range of skin tones. You can definitely blot this down to a soft but vibrant pink or use a heavier application for a bolder look, and it won't take many swipes because the color pay off here is excellent! The level of brightness is similar to Pink Nouveau or Lustering although Lustering is more of a watermelon shade. I like Maybelline's Color Sensational collection, a top notch drugstore line. I would call this one a cross between a Satin and a Matte.

Lipstick -Bobbi Brown - Lip Color - Blondie Pink 64
PrettyPouty 4/17/2011 1:41:00 PM
I am a big fan of BB products in general, and especially her lipsticks, blushes and foundations. I have to say though I was really disappointed in Blondie Pink lipcolor. The formula is creamy and the staying power is good but on me this shade looks like a nude, beige/brown which was not at all what I was going for. It sounded like it would be a pretty, pale neutral pink. I have to say this is the one thing I have learned to be careful of with her lipcolors, many have brown undertones or look nude or brown despite having "pink" in the name. I have found , though, if I consult a MU first the recommendations are usually qutie good! I love her original, semi matte lipcolors and the spf 12 formulas the best, just a little tricky sometimes getting the color right.

Lipstick -MAC - Coconutty
PrettyPouty 4/14/2011 1:44:00 PM
Wow! Coconutty is several shades in one. It is a beautiful bronze but there is also a bit of copper and gold shimmer. Heavy, layered application can definitely give you a more dramatic shade with a frostier and brown/bronze look, or you can lightly apply for a more subtle, beachy gold/bronze color. As other reviewers have said it does kind of make you feel like the Brazillian Beach Goddess in a swimsuit magazine. I have a lot of blond highlights so when I am tan and put this lipstick on I feel like I am glowing! I usually prefer MAC's Lustre formula and don't care for their Frost at all but in this case I will make the exception, it is just that pretty! Also great color pay off for a "Frost".

Lipstick -Bobbi Brown - Tulle
PrettyPouty 4/14/2011 1:32:00 PM
This is a gorgeous and subtle shade of medium, neutral pink w just a hint of brown undertone. I call it my ballerina pink because it makes me think of the color of old fashioned ballerina tutus or slippers. I love this pink for work or for a more natural look but with generous application there is a lot of color payoff! A gentle pop of pink, but very classy! I do find Bobbi's lipcolor to be just a tad drying although I prefer this formula for its staying power and it really isn't drying enough to be a problem for me. Sometimes just a bit of gloss softens things up in the middle of the day. For reference I have medium skin with yellow and pink undertones.

Lipstick -MAC - Frost - Angel
PrettyPouty 4/14/2011 1:21:00 PM
This actually hurts a little. I wanted to like you Angel, I really did! Kim K made it look so good, and talk about hype! Has there ever been a more famous shade of lipstick? When I swatch Angel on my skin it is gorgeous, a sheer, silvery neutral and light pink. But for some reason when I put this on my lips it looks like pale pink chalk. And that is being nice about it. I tried wearing it for a day, living in it, trying different levels of application and even sloshed on some clear gloss but alas....we just weren't meant to be! Probably won't try any more frosted shades from MAC although I am a big fan of their Lustre formula. My lips are naturally a light rosy pink color and not especially dry so I don't know why Angel works so well for some but not others.
