BB Cream -Maybelline - Dream Fresh 8-in-1 BB Cream
PositivelyRadiant 9/12/2012 2:06:00 PM
I love the idea of a BB cream - moisturizer, SPF, and lightweight coverage all in one. However, if the product doesn't deliver on all fronts well, then I'd rather use separate products and like the outcome than shorten my beauty regimen by a few minutes. I tend to like Maybelline foundations, so I thought I'd give this product a try. It gave the lightest of lightest coverage, which is okay, but I wanted just a bit more tint - nothing crazy. It definitely wasn't enough coverage to eliminate the minor blemishes I had, but I didn't expect it to, and I used concealer for those. My biggest issue lay with how oily I looked after only a few hours of wear. I tend to be on the oilier side and, unless I wear a powder, my skin looks glowy/greasy. They say it's for normal skin, so I don't recommend this for anyone that's on the oily/combination side. It's a shame because I'd love to shorten my beauty routine. Oh, well. On to the next.
Holy brightness! You mustn't be afraid of bright colors in order to wear this fierce reddish, orange. With that said, this color gets you noticed PRONTO! This color matched a lot of the vibrant poppy colors in my outfits this past winter/spring and I loved wearing it. However, for daytime events, you may want to try a more toned down version. Also, according to a department store MAC employee, only MAC stores carry this color and not department store MAC counters. (Online carries it, too). My only gripe about this color and other bright MAC reds is that it sometimes stains my lips afterwards. If my lips are dry and cracked and I wear this lipstick, a little remains afterwards in the cracked parts of my lips. No amount of scrubbing or waterproof eye makeup remover can wash it away. In fact, the day after wearing this lipstick it looked like my lips were cracked and bloody, even though it was just the lipstick refusing to budge from cracks in my lips. I guess I have to scrub my lips A LOT before wearing again. I still love it!
I have bought many bottles of this product and I just love how effective it is at keeping my chest and "bacne" at bay. I love the gritty texture as well, and it leaves my skin feeling silky smooth. The packaging is fantastic because when you start running low on the product, you can just flip the bottle upside down and continue to drain the remaining product to the bottom so that you can use as much as possible before throwing it out. There are always 2 bottles of this in my house at any given time because I would hate to run out of this stuff! I use it in conjunction with the Body Clear Body Spray, which I use once to twice a week. Love this stuff!
Skincare - Body -Neutrogena - Body Clear Body Spray

I have bought many bottles of this wonderful product and nothing seems to work better to help relieve my chest acne. I only need to use this spray once or twice a week to keep my chest from flaring up. I rarely get pimples on my face but my chest can break out really badly and I use Neutrogena's Body Clear Body Scrub daily. I find that if I use the body spray daily, my skin becomes too dry and starts to peel. Also, after I spray my skin, I need to wait about 5 minutes for my skin to dry before I put on any clothes, otherwise I'm concerned that I may discolor my clothing. Altogether, between the spray and the scrub, I have my chest acne under control.
The nice thing about this product is that it feels light on the skin, doesn't make my skin break out, and makeup goes on nicely over it. However, I can only use this if my skin is particularly oily, otherwise it won't give me the necessary moisture I need. I only recommend this for oily skin types.
I originally got these wipes for travel use. The packaging helped keep the wipes inside moist until I had used them all up. It does leak a little bit when I travel on a plane so I suggest putting the wipes in a ziploc bag. The wipes struggle to take off waterproof eye makeup, hence 1 lippie knocked off. I now use them to take off the brunt of my makeup before I wash my face. I find that using wipes and a cleanser is the best way to ensure I get all my makeup off. The wipes are also gentle and great for my somewhat sensitive skin that's prone to breakouts. Plus, the value is fantastic!
This mascara is one of the closest I've come to my ideal mascara. It stays on very well and doesn't flake. My eyelashes had a slight curl to them, even without the use of a lash curler, and they were nice and long. I even liked the little ball tip of the mascara wand that helped get the lashes in the outer corners. My biggest gripe with this mascara is that it didn't volumize as easily. I really had to work the wand back and forth, so applying the mascara became tedious and more time-consuming than usual. If you already have thick lashes and are simply looking for a mascara that separates and lengthens, I recommend this one for you. Also, the formula seemed to dry up a bit fast and I had to throw out the tube after only about a month and a half of use.
Lip Gloss -NARS - Velvet Gloss Lip Pencil in Frivolous

I'm normally not one to return a product, but if I'm really not going to use it and I have 5 others like it that work far better, then the product goes back. The color is a light bubblegum pink that looked great on my hand but lost on my pigmented lips. The worst part is that the color barely stays on. I don't mind a thicker, stickier formula that will last a good hour or so, but this color comes off within 30 minutes. That's far too much reapplying when I can just use another product. I like MAC lip gloss in Baby Sparks much better.
What a product! I was only looking for another water-resistant moisturizer with SPF to wear during the summer when I found this. I like Neutrogena's face moisturizer but the higher the SPF, the thicker the product and I get that pasty white look that suggests I'm wearing sunscreen. I wanted something that felt light and would wear really well under makeup. I was using an Olay moisturizer that was only SPF 25, yet it felt thick and greasy and it pilled whenever I put makeup over it. I can't even begin to tell you how AMAZED I was when I first wore LRP's sunscreen. It's my new favorite sunscreen/moisturizer! I even wear it at night when I'm going out and want flawless makeup application. It wears so light and literally makes your skin feel silky. I recommend this for product for people who tend to be oilier in the summertime. I did bring this sunscreen with me to Montana recently and out there my skin became so dehydrated and this sunscreen lacked in the moisturizing department. If I ever go back to a drier climate, I'll probably bring something a bit heavier. Also, I haven't really tested it in the water. Whenever something says water-resistant, I'm always afraid it will wash off right away, so I use formulas that say waterproof. Other than that, though, this sunscreen is a huge winner in my book!
Lip Treatments -Jack Black - Intense Therapy Lip Balm spf 25

My husband is the one that mainly uses this lip treatment. He got one of those value packs as a gift and this lip balm was in it. He likes it so much that he asked me to buy a few more so that he could keep one at work, another in his car, and one for home. This past weekend we went away and I forgot my lip balm so I had to use his the whole time. I really like the way it hydrates and nourishes. I wish it would stay on longer because I'm constantly smacking my lips but other than that it was fine. Since this lip balm is more for men than women, there's definitely no sheen/shine to it. I've only tried the Lemon & Chamomile flavor, which we both like. Gotta love the SPF as well. Looks like he's through with Burt's Bees!
I've really only ever used this eyeshadow right on the brow bone as a highlighter. However, I love how it glides on and has a nice pearly, sheen. It possesses just enough sheen that it catches your eye and highlights in just the right away. It has just the slightest bit of pink but not too much. In fact, this shadow is such a necessity for me that when I bought UD's Naked palette, I didn't mind having it included in there so that now I have my single pot of Sin and my palette Sin. I could easily use this shadow on the lid as well, but because it's such a staple on my brow bone, I like to mix it up a bit and make the eyelid a different color.
Eye Shadow -Urban Decay - Midnight Cowboy Rides Again

This product loses 1 lippie because of the glitter issue. The color is beautiful and the glitter looks great on the eyes. The problem is how to do away with the glitter that will amass under the eye. This is definitely an eyeshadow where tapping away any excess on the brush is a must. Also, a q-tip with some eye makeup remover to remove the excess glitter under the eye will come in handy. I didn't need to remove all the glitter because after I apply concealer, foundation, powder, bronzer, and blush, you don't see a trace of the glitter. However, if you like to apply eye makeup last in your routine or if you don't use much face makeup, the glitter sitch may leave you a bit perplexed. Some people like to hold up a business card or tissues under the eyes to catch the glitter and then there's no worries on how to deal with anything under the eyes. Oh, and yes, eye makeup primer will help and should always be used.
Moisturizers -Olay - Regenerist Micro-Sculpting Cream

I've already gone through several jars of this product and I'm very pleased with it. I'm 28-years old, so my fine lines are very faint. I was looking more for a moisturizer that would heavily moisturize my skin in the winter without giving me a greasy feel. When I don't wear makeup, I'll wear this product over a serum. It doesn't make me look greasy during the day while still providing my skin with a lot of moisture. Because my skin tends to be on the oilier side, I would NEVER wear this moisturizer under makeup. I'm sure it would make me look like a grease-ball. Even though I tend to get breakouts, this heavier cream doesn't give me breakouts.
When I bought Espresso #17 shadow, I was looking for a dark, blend-able brown that I could wear for my everyday brown smokey-eye look. For years I've used Trish McEvoy's Eye Definer in Rich Brown (or similar shades) because they are so pigmented and great for adding depth to a smokey eye. However, perhaps because I've had those eye shadows for so long and they're getting old, I've felt that lately they've become less blend-able and it was taking a lot more effort to get the look I wanted to achieve. So, I scoured Sephora for the perfect dark brown eye shadow with superior blendability. The shadow was the only one that came even remotely close to what I was looking for. It's easy to work with and feels like velvet when I'm applying it to my lids. I'm ready to toss those old Trish McEvoy Eye Definers and I'm happy I have this new great shadow.
Eye Shadow -Urban Decay - 24/7 Glide-On Shadow Pencil in Rehab
PositivelyRadiant 2/15/2011 11:35:00 AM
I love that this eyeliner is a chubbier stick and great for smudging on both the upper and lower lash lines. I recently purchased this shadow pencil in Rehab and Wasteland, since the colors looked very different when I compared them on the back of my hand. However, when I wore them on my eyes, they became very similar and I think I will return Wasteland, since there's no need for two pencils that are so similar I can barely tell them apart. I recently wore this on my lower lash line and gave it the ultimate test by wearing it from 6:30am-7pm. Not ONCE did I have to touch it up or fix any smears. This is quite the feat, since I often struggle with raccoon eyes whenever I wear eyeliner on the lower lash line. This shadow pencil has better staying power than Make Up For Ever's Aqua Eyes! I'm so impressed and very pleased that Urban Decay's products have turned in yet another solid performance.
