Masks -Unlisted Brand - Now Solutions Moroccan Red Clay
PinkSoFoxy 6/28/2012 1:20:00 AM
First, a bit of background... I have acne prone, combination oily skin with an uneven complexion. My mission: clear breakouts, heal spots and irritations, fade acne scars and red marks, eliminate black heads, shrink pores, balance skin moisture (we don't want oily, but we don't want dry either). Are we asking for too much here? I think not! I'm determined to fix this finicky problem skin and being a good skincare product junkie when I find an amazing wholesome product that yields excellent results I have to share it with everyone! I purchased the Now Solutions Moroccan Red Clay Powder at my local health food store for $5.69, I figured after paying top dollar for so many other skin care products from Sephora and elsewhere this was hardly a risk if it didn't work. But it DID!!! I've only used it a few times so far but my skin is already less oily during the day, black heads have gone away and those gawd awful stubborn enlarged pores are shrinking at last! Best $5 bucks I've spent in a long while! I highly recommend giving this a try, this has quickly become a holy grail skin care product for me.

Lotions/ Creams -John Masters - Blood Orange & Vanilla Body Milk
PinkSoFoxy 5/3/2012 11:07:00 PM
It's been well over a year since I've written a review on here but while browsing the John Masters reviews I was shocked to see this body milk had so many negative reviews that I just HAD to share my thoughts on behalf of this product. First of all if you are looking for a thick, heavy moisturizer this is NOT it. It doesn't claim to be, this is a body MILK... so let's review the product for what it actually is... This body milk is HG for me. I'm completely addicted, it moisturizes my skin quite well and absorbs quickly without leaving excess stickiness which I detest with heavier lotions. I live in Hawaii, so I get plenty of that sticky feeling with our humidity, I don't want to add to it. I wanted a light moisturizer that's natural and healthy for my skin that smells gorgeous... and that's exactly what I found with John Masters Blood Orange & Vanilla Body Milk. The scent is what grabbed my attention in the store, I picked up the tester and it instantly reminded me of an orange creme 50/50 bar, absolutely delicious! I had to have it! My husband loves the scent as well! I also love that John Masters is a cruelty free company and their products contain no animal ingredients. I will continue to repurchase for as long as they make this.

Eye Shadow -MAC - Vintage Selection (Cham-Pale Collection)
PinkSoFoxy 1/5/2011 8:50:00 PM
I really wanted to like this, the color was beautiful in the pot and swatched on my hand. I enjoy a little bit of sparkle and glitter. Unfortunately, this PP looked downright awful on my eyelids. I agree with the reviewer below, it looked dry and flaky like reptile skin, with glitter fallout galore. Not at all like the sparkling champagne snow bunny eyes I'd hoped for. I tried different application methods with TFSI and UDPP primers, fingers, brushes, different eyeshadows. I own several PP's but this along with Dangerous Cuvee PP was a big disappointment. I hate returning anything because it's wasteful but these had to go back to MAC.

I agree with the reviewer below, it looked dry and flaky like reptile skin, with glitter fallout galore. Not at all like the cool gray sparkling winter eyes I'd hoped for. Top/Base Coats -Seche Vite - Dry Fast Top Coat
PinkSoFoxy 12/25/2010 7:10:00 PM
Update: I don't know what was happening before but I got the hang of this top coat and now it's HG, I can't do a manicure without it. I'm upgrading my rating to 5!!! Oh my frickin' word! Yes... I'm slightly frustrated! I purchased the Seche Vite Top coat last week. So far I've failed numerous times using this product. The problem? My nail polish chips and peels within 24hrs! I've tried different polish, different base coats and nothing works! I don't own SV base coat but I'm afraid to waste my money on another SV product. Although, you shouldn't have to use their base coat to get their top coat to work properly. Can someone please tell me is if you need to use the SV base coat to keep your polish from peeling off? Thanks!

Mascara -L'Oreal - Voluminous Million Lashes
PinkSoFoxy 11/25/2010 9:01:00 PM
I purchased the L'Oreal Million Lashes mascara about a month ago and it has quickly become my go-to, must-have mascara. I grab for it everyday! My old loves: CoverGirl LashBlast, Maybelline The Falsies and L'Oreal Voluminous Carbon Black are now being neglected. When initially testing a new mascara I'm very skeptical but once I realized the correct technique for applying this particular formula, it immediately became HG status for me. This mascara gets me even closer to that false lash effect. It gives me both length and volume. The plastic bristles comb through and separate my lashes beautifully. Application and formula: Once applied to your lashes this mascara dries and sets quickly. So make sure you work your top lashes FIRST. Thoroughly comb through your top lashes with the first coat, making sure to separate and fan them out. Quickly move to your other eye (top lashes only) Return to the first eye PROMPTLY to begin the second coat. Repeat back and forth as desired working only the top lashes. After your top lashes are finished then move on to your bottom lashes. The fact that this mascara sets quickly is actually a good thing. It locks in any curling you've done and after separating and fanning out your lashes with the first coat, they stay that way... all day long. No clumping together, no wet mascara transferring onto your brow bone or lower lash line. It's amazing. Of course a product might be absolutely fantastic for some and not work at all for others. But Keep in mind that the right technique can make all the difference in the world!

Mascara -NYX - NYX Doll Eye Mascara- Long Lash
PinkSoFoxy 6/20/2010 4:06:00 AM
I purchased NYX Doll eye mascara in the Long Lash formula. I'll admit it was the cute name that sold me on it. Unfortunately I found this mascara to be quite dry. Now it could just be the tube that I got was drying out already. If this is how this formula is supposed to be I would not repurchase as it does nothing for my lashes but just out of curiousity I may try another tube in the future.

Eye Shadow -NYX - Aqua
PinkSoFoxy 6/19/2010 3:49:00 AM
NYX Aqua has the same wonderful buttery texture as most of their other eyeshadows. However, both the name and the appearance can be quite deceiving. NYX Aqua is not Aqua colored at all. That is obvious of course when you see it in person. It looks to be a smokey steel blue. I purchased it thinking I was getting a steel blue... but it isn't. Unfortunately it is a much more plain shade of medium blue shimmer. Sad because it looks much more exciting and special in the pan. I will not repurchase.

Eye Shadow -NYX - Chrome Eyeshadow - Canary
PinkSoFoxy 6/19/2010 1:21:00 AM
I purchased Canary just today along with several other NYX Piggies. The quality of these eyeshadow pigments are on par with MAC pigments. Canary is a highly pigmented sunny yellow with a hint of gold. The texture is buttery smooth, finely milled and easy to blend. Best applied over a primer or eyeshadow base. Canary has a fine shimmer finish but is not at all overly frosty or glittery. I would definitely repurchase.

Lip Gloss -Chanel - Bikini Peach (257) Glossimer
PinkSoFoxy 5/12/2010 12:54:00 AM
Chanel Bikini Peach Glossimer is limited edition from the Chanel Les Pop-Up de Chanel Collection. It's a milky pink with a peachy undertone and subtle gold flecks of shimmer. Bikini Peach is a very wearable shade of pink that I think would flatter most skin tones. It's a gorgeous gloss for summer and probably one of the most creamy Glossimers that Chanel has made. The texture is silky and smooth, never sticky. As for pigmentation, Bikini Peach offers a sheer wash of color, just enough to be pretty on it's own but still fairly sheer. In my opinion it is best paired with a favorite lipstick. It looks especially sexy over nude lipsticks. Overall it's a beautiful Glossimer that would be a great addition to any make-up collection. However, I'm still on the fence about whether or not I should purchase a backup.

Lipstick -LORAC - Cream Lipstick in Babydoll
PinkSoFoxy 5/11/2010 12:04:00 AM
I ordered this lipstick online. When I first opened the tube I was surprised to see that the lipstick was peach, straight peach. But on my lips it looks and feels a lot like MAC Myth. It gives a concealer-like effect on the lips. I think if you already have Myth, there's no need to run out and buy LORAC Baby doll. It's the kind of lipstick that makes any bits of dry skin on your lips stand out and look worse, it's not a cute look. So how will I make this lipstick work? Just like Myth, I would never wear this lipstick by itself. I will use Baby Doll as a base on freshly exfoliated lips and wear another lipstick or lip gloss on top. It's a very flat opaque nude color by itself but I think it would work nicely under a frost or lustre lipstick, something with more dimension. I would give Baby Doll a 3.5 out of 5 because I'm not impressed and it's not anything special but it is a usable lipstick that you can work with. However I will not repurchase.

Brows -Unlisted Brand - castor oil
PinkSoFoxy 4/26/2010 4:01:00 PM
After reading so many positive reviews about Castor Oil and in my quest to achieve longer fuller lashes I decided to purchase a bottle. I've used Tarte Multipleye which gave me no results and Talika Lipocils which I used for 6 months and enjoyed a lot. The results were gorgeous longer, fuller lashes from the Talika. However the price tag is $40 bucks a pop so I figured I'd give Caster Oil a go. I used it for just two nights applying a very tiny amount on my lashes and broke out in a rash all around my eyes, I woke up with my eyes swollen and red with little bumps. I've never had an allergic reaction like this to anything...except poison oak! It was terrible! It's been two days now and my eyes are finally getting back to normal but you can still see some of the bumps. Anyway I highly suggest doing a spot test first to make sure you're not allergic. I'm glad Castor Oil works for so many others but I will promptly be returning to my Talika Lipocils.

Skincare - Face -Clinique - Acne Solutions Line (all products)
PinkSoFoxy 3/31/2010 9:20:00 PM
I purchased the Acne Solution 3 step set which includes the Face Cleanser, Toner and Moisturizer. I've been using it sparingly for awhile now and if I was to describe these products in two words it would be... Strong and Drying. When I first purchased the set I did the 3 steps every morning and night. Oops... BIG Mistake! Within a few days it had completely sucked ALL of the moisture out of my skin. I was breaking out on areas of my face where I NEVER break out, due to the over-drying of my skin. I quickly switched to Boscia Soothing Cleansing Cream and a moisturizer which were just samples I had received from Sephora. After the moisture in my skin was replenished and back to normal, I carefully began using the Clinque Cleanser once a day (at night), the Toner twice a week and the moisturizer twice a week. It's really all my skin can handle. I think these products do work well when used sparingly, one at a time, and in conjunction with a good moisturizer. I will use up what I have left but will not be repurchasing this set. I don't feel my skin requires such strong products. For reference I'm Combination/Oily.

Lipstick -MAC - Frenzy Lipstick
PinkSoFoxy 3/29/2010 10:03:00 PM
So I went to MAC in search of a sun-kissed golden lipstick for summer. Couldn't find what I had in mind but the sales girl steered me to Frenzy and said it was a "gorgeous frosty summer color and looks great with tan skin." Well I fell for it. I didn't try it on, I only swatched it on my hand. It looked great...on my hand... But much different on my lips at home. It was darker and more brown than I expected. Not the look I was going for. I prefer a lighter frosty playboy type mouth. I have MAC's Gel lipstick and love it! I thought Frenzy looked similar under the bright department store lights but it's not nearly as pretty as Gel. Since I don't like returning products I decided to try and make it work for me. Tanarama to the rescue! MAC's Tanarama lipstick is the perfect fix for lightening up Frenzy. I pair the two, using Frenzy and the base and Tanarama on top. This combination looks a lot like Gel which makes me happier. However I will not repurchase Frenzy... instead I will just buy a new Gel and I will continue on my mission for a sunkissed golden lipstick.

Bronzers -Estee Lauder - Bronze Goddess Exotic Bronzing Blush
PinkSoFoxy 3/3/2010 5:16:00 PM
It was love at first sight with this beautiful Bronzer/Blush. New from the 2010 Bronze Goddess collection. It's a two-tone Bronzer and Blush in one gorgeous Bronze Goddess signature compact. The Colors: A summer tan combined with a peachy-pink coral swirled around each other in a zebra striped pattern. This color combination creates a stunning, natural, sun-kissed glow. Pigmentation: Application starts out light for a subtle sunny glow but is easily buildable for a sun-kissed bronze. (For reference I'm an NC30) For darker complexions this may be too light but for fair to medium skin tones this is a great product to have in your summertime beauty arsenal. Since this is only available for a limited time I will definitely be purchasing backups.
