Eye Primer -NARS - Pro-Prime Smudge Proof Eyeshadow Base
Perkup1 6/2/2011 12:42:00 PM
This is my FAVORITE Eyeshadow Base / Primer. As I get "older" and my skin changes, my eyelids have changed as well. Eyeshadow base is a must for me now as my lids have been slicker and slicker. I have tried a few bases... The obvious ones...UDPP (in original, Sin and Eden), Too Faced Shadow Insurance, MAC paint pots, Paula Dorf, the not so obvious - Lumene Eye Makeup Base, Np Set Eye Primer, & the list goes on. This NARS Smudge Proof Eyeshadow Base is by far the best I have tried. It is very lightweight, goes on white but dries quickly and sheer and absorbs any oil you might have on your lids. Bonus - no fragrance! It last ALL day and my shadow (creams and powders) does NOT budge. It's a little expensive - for a .26 oz tube (with a doe foot applicator) it runs $24. I only wish it came in a squeeze tube. Now that I think about it, I might test drive this on NARS Cream Eye Shadows, which crease horribly on me, no matter what primer I use. This could be the ultimate test for me. If it doesn't crease with their own cream shadows, it will stay my HG.

Lotions/ Creams -Weleda - Pomegranate Regenerating Hand Cream
Perkup1 5/1/2011 11:42:00 AM
Hated it. Smells terrible. Does not moisturize. Why they made the tube red - I don't know - Red can mean love, fire, heat, passion and stop. In this case, it means STOP! I was going to offer it to my DH and then I felt enormous guilt trying to pass it off to him. Pass on this one for sure, even if they are giving out free samples.

Lip Gloss -Revlon - Super Lustrous Lip Balm
Perkup1 4/21/2011 12:20:00 AM
LOVE this lip balm! This new balm by Revlon came in 3 shades, and being the lip balm / gloss addict that I am, I bought all 3 shades. Clear Crystal, which looks like a sparkly light blue in the pot, goes on basically clear - but it's shiny. It reminds me of a limited edition lip gloss by Prescriptives called Tranquil that was around maybe 10 years ago or the JK Jemma Kidd for Target - Angelina Maxi Kiss Plumping Lipgloss. Pink Crystal looks super bright pink in the pot, but again, goes on sheer and is really a super juicy berry color on me, and perfect imo for Spring - and last - peach crystal - a tangerine color in the pot, yet a sheer wash on the lips. All are sheer, smell sweet like watermelon jolly ranchers, super balmly, yet glossy - they all have small flecks of shimmer in the pot - on the lips not so much. The lid of the pot holds a built-in brush which I thought would render itself useless but I actually like it. It's nice not to have to stick your finger in the gloss for a change and the brush is not bad quality at all. Bottom line, these smell yummy and juicy in the pot, and look yummy and juicy on the lips! Bonus - It has SPF 15.

Misc Beauty Tools -Unlisted Brand - Swisspers Organic Rounds
Perkup1 1/22/2011 1:30:00 PM
These cotton rounds fall apart. Every time I use them I get lint all over my fingers and face. I have always used Swisspers cotton rounds - whether it be the original or the premium. Generally I use them to remove eye makeup or apply toner. I bought these instead because Swisspers Organic products are made with USDA certified organic cotton and grown exclusively on organic farms. They are also pesticide-free and that means that they’re better for the environment and me! Well, it's not worth it to me. I paid $4.00 for 80 rounds. Not sure how much more these are than the original, but I would never buy these again, nor would I recommend them to anyone. If you know of a great alternative that is better for the environment, please let me know!

Fragrances -Moschino - Funny!
Perkup1 9/15/2010 9:38:00 AM
I LOVE Moschino Funny! "They" say that it is a floral-fruity funny fragrance for young girls. I am not young and I find it perfect for me. I also find it perfect for day or night, summer or winter, work or play. I don't really detect the floral. I get the 1st blast of citrus and then it dries down to yummyness. That's what they SHOULD have called it. Yummy. I first smelled Funny! on my esthetician. She works in a small room and I remember saying to her, it smells so good in here, what IS that? She says, Moschino Funny! I think I went out that day and bought it. That was a few years ago. It was launched at the end of spring 2007, so it was probably right around then, and I still wear this perfume! I receive compliments when I wear this from EVERYONE. I wore it yesterday. Sprayed it on at 9:00 am. Got home at 5:45 pm and DH says, you smell good. That shows how long it lasts, at least on my skin. Personally, I really don't like D&G Light Blue at all so it's strange how so many reviews make mention of Funny! smelling similar to it. Funny! is described as opening with red currants, spicy orange and pink pepper. The middle notes are green tea, jasmine, peony and violet, and the base unites cedar, amber and musk. I wish I could say that I created this beauty, but the perfume was created by Antoine Maisondieu.

Mascara -Josie Maran Cosmetics - Mascara
Perkup1 10/24/2009 10:51:00 PM
I bought this mascara in a set at Sephora called the Josie Maran Moroccan Holiday Collection which came with a mini Argan oil and 2 lip glosses. This 1st day I wore the mascara, it smeared badly. I thought that it might have been because of the heavy hand I used when I applied the argan oil all over my face, including under my eyes. Day 2. I apply the mascara, no argan oil on my face, and run out the door. I never check my eyes. 4 hours later I go to lunch. The waitress takes my order and stops me and says, your eyes look great today! I say thank you. As I am leaving the restaurant the waitress stops me and says, what mascara is that? It really makes your eyes look incredible! She has just sealed the deal for me. I love the mascara! But when I get home, I see that once again, the mascara has traveled down my face and given me raccoon eyes. Day 3. Today. I apply the mascara lovingly. I see that it is a very wet mascara. It's a dark rich black. It lengthens my lashes. It separates my lashes. To put it simply... they look long and black and wet and glossy. I LOVE the way this mascara makes my lashes look. With that said, hours later, it smeared. It must be because of the oils in it. I said that I wouldn't buy this again, but I am on the fence. It might be worth it. It conditions and lengthens lashes, it's paraben and fragrance free and contains organic ingredients like Jojoba oil, Argan oil and Beeswax. It doesn't clump, but it smears. It has no Parabens - Sulfates - Synthetic Fragrance - Synthetic Dye - Phthalates. Comes in black and brown and is $22. Ingredients: White Beeswax*, Carnauba Wax**, Polyisobutene, Isododecane, Propylene Carbonate, Quaternium-18, Hecorite, Olea Europaea (Olive) Oil*, Isoeicosane, Glycine Soja (Soybean) Oil*, Argania Spinosa (Argan) Oil*, Simmondsia Chinenesis (Jojoba) Oil*, Linseed Oil*, Phenoxyethanol, Hexylene Glycol, Caprylyl Glycol. May Contain: Iron Oxides**, Black Iron Oxides**, Mica**.

Treatments -Sally Hansen - Extra Strength All Over Smart Wax Hair Removal Kit
Perkup1 9/24/2009 6:18:00 PM
In the box, you get a 6 oz tub of wax, a stack of muslin strips, about 10 wood applicator sticks that are all the size of a tongue depressor, and a small bottle of azulene oil. To use it, you take the top of the tub and microwave the wax for 30 seconds, give or take. It smells yummy, but watch out, this stuff is S-T-I-C-K-Y. I bought this for my legs, knee down. I leave my bikini to my favorite professional. If you spread the wax THIN, it does a great job of removing the hair. (It does not get ALL the hair off, but it did get the majority off. ) If you apply this wax too thick, the strip doesn't pick up much wax, let alone hair. I have been waxing my legs for 20 years so the hair grows in sporadically and it's very fine. Seems as though from the reviews that it works well on thick coarse hair as well. My only warning to you is - again - it is verrrrry STICKY. Just go slow, and remember that less is more. With this mantra, I have been able to get away with maybe some extra wax on my hands, which I was able to get off with the azulene oil and I was able to avoid getting it all over the place. With all of that said, I would not repurchase again as it's too much work. I prefer the Poetic Cosmetic Waxing Kit by Bliss.

Mascara -Cover Girl - Lash Blast Length
Perkup1 9/17/2009 5:52:00 PM
I wanted this SO bad. In fact, when it finally came out, I bought 2. I am not a fan of this mascara. I LOVE the OG Lash Blast, but just because this has the same name, doesn't mean it has the same quality. The OG has a thicker brush, LB Length's brush is much skinnier. As mentioned in other reviews, you don't get a lot of product on the brush, making it more of a natural application. I got mine in very black, and it's not very black at all. The one thing I will give it is that it does what it says, it gives length. With that said, my lashes are long already. Bottom line, I would not buy this again. 2nd one I bought is going up for swap.

Scrubs -Bath and Body Works - Temptations Twisted Peppermint Body Scrub
Perkup1 9/9/2009 9:16:00 PM
I LOVE this, and I'll tell you why. I love body scrubs. If I don't use a scrub, I will use a poof with body wash, other wise, I just don't feel like I am clean! With that said, I haven't found the perfect scrub for my FEET! I have to clean my feet before I get into bed at night. I can't get into bed thinking my feet are dirty. This is THE scrub for that. Most scrubs I'm used to are oil-based and they leave my feet all slippery. That kind of scrub I love for my legs because it keeps your skin moisturized, but for my feet, I want a scrub that I can rinse and get into bed. This is a foaming sugar scrub that smells GREAT and feels GREAT! This rinses clean, leaves my skin soft and smooth but not oily. It feels invigorating, with it's cool and refreshing mint and smells delish with it's hint of vanilla. YUM!

Eye Shadow -Stila - Capri Colors Trio 2002
Perkup1 8/19/2009 11:00:00 AM
Although this item is no longer available as it was LE back in 2002, I felt like I had to review it. It's probably one of my all time favorite trios from Stila, or anyone for that matter. No matter what, I get compliments when I wear it as it really makes my blue / green eyes POP. It has three shades of purple, all of which are very shimmery (dare I say frosty?) A light pink (similar to Heather but this is better IMO), a medium taupey plum (similar to Grace, but this is better IMO), and a dark shimmery plum (similar to Poise, but this is better IMO) which I usually use wet as a liner. If you can find it UNUSED on eBay or MUA, grab it! You won't regret it! I wouldn't go for a used one since it's probably 7 years old at this point.

Lip Treatments -eos - Lip Balm
Perkup1 8/13/2009 7:18:00 PM
I 1st saw this lip balm at Bloomingdale's in the Space NK section. I only saw the "sphere" and I picked it up and felt how it was kind of weird and rubbery and sticky and plasticky. I saw how dirty the container got from everyone "testing" it and touching it with their dirty fingers. I thought it was so gross that I passed it up, even though it was so inexpensive and I am a sucker for a new lip balm! Fast forward to me being at Rite Aid yesterday where I see the display of all the new EOS balms - including the balm in stick form. I decided to buy it - in vanilla bean. The case is still that weird and rubbery and sticky and plasticky material but I bought it anyway. I LOVE it. GREAT lip balm! Doesn't last for long, but 1/2 the fun for me is reapplying! I also love that it's NOT TESTED ON ANIMALS! Will go back for the sweet mint! $3.29 @ Rite Aid.

Eye Shadow -MAC - Paint Pot in Painterly
Perkup1 7/21/2009 10:08:00 PM
I love this! I don't know why, but this baby has been sitting in my drawer for EVER, unopened, in the box. I bought Painterly and Bare Study on a buying spree and never opened them. until now. The other night I had my mu done at MAC for a party I was going to. I had the artist do my mu using the Eccentricity eyeshadow quad from the Colour Craft collection (a Rich gold, a Light violet, a Rich bronze and a Deep plum) Anyway, the party was outside and it was 90 degrees the entire night! I got home and checked myself in the mirror and still, even at midnight, not a crease, not a smear, not a budge! To me, this just as good if not better than Shadow Insurance which is $17 for 0.35 oz or even Urban deacy Eyeshadow Primer Potion which for 0.34 oz is $17 - MAC's paint pot is more - .17 fl oz for $16.50. but you don't have to squeeze out the product or dig in a genie bottle - you shouldn't use your finger for this imo. I use my 252 shader brush although the MAC SA suggested using 242. Again, I love this!

Eye Makeup Remover -Lancome - Bi-Facil Double Action Eye Make-up Remover
Perkup1 7/6/2009 2:34:00 PM
My HG eye makeup remover. I have tried many, just because I was hoping to find a product that worked as well but was less expensive. I know a lot of people love Neutrogena, Clinique, Sonia Kashuk and Almay - none are as good as Lancome's Bi-Facil. It removes my mascara easily, doesn't bother my sensitive eyes and doesn't leave any oil or film behind. Worth every penny, IMO. $26 for 4.2 oz.

Mascara -Max Factor - 2000 Calorie Extreme Lash Plumper [DISCONTINUED]
Perkup1 6/24/2009 7:41:00 PM
MF 2000 Calorie Extreme Lash Plumper and Cover Girl's Lash Blast are the best drugstore mascara's out there. When I want thick, curvy, long lashes, I reach for Diorshow. MF doesn't give me much thickening and it doesn't curve my lashes much, but it does the trick of lengthening for sure. Not sure about PLUMPING. Love the sleek black tube. Overall this is a really great mascara. Love it and I highly suggest it if you are looking for a great Drugstore find. Sadly, Max Factor, will begin phasing out the brand here in America early next year, though it will still be sold globally. Stock up on this while you can!
