Lip Gloss -Versace - Light on Lips Lipglosses

Ok, so this must have been reformulated as I don't detect any smell whatsoever. Also, I noticed that particular Lights on Lips was more expensive than the others - LE's perhaps? However, it remains still a bit gritty and it's more sheer than I would like it to be. The colors are absolutely stunningly drop dead gorgeous in the tube, but once on, it's simply too sheer unless I pile it on my pigmented lips. Still, I love them but must take off lipsticks for the grit, the sheerness and its short short lived nature on lips. V2064 is a gorgeous raspberry, V2081 is a gorgeous burgandy, V2077 is a gorgeous golden peach, V2083 is a more opaque golden bronze which costs 22.50 rather than 20.00. I like them, but find them to be indulgences in clear sparkly glosses. I wouldn't say it's a must, but rather a luxury you should try if you can afford it.

Lipstick -NARS - Afghan Red
rated 4 of 5

Cream color in a deep, bright fuschia raspberry/burgandy. Again, another color that I had doubts about wearing, but somehow manages to look not so bad on. It definitely is not a daytime thing for me. It doesn't scream fuschia, and can be light or layered for intensity. Think of Boogie Nights gloss sans shimmer and in a cream finish. If you go for the blue reds, this dark raspberry might be calling out your name.

Lipstick -NARS - Masai

Think a cross between Tobago and Viva Las Vegas; a mauvey peachy swirl in silver. Pretty, but if you favor one of the above mentioned, I wouldn't really recommend having to get this too, unless you simply just must have it. It's a bit more silvery on my pigmented lips and doesn't have as much depth as Tobago, or the peachy sparkle of Viva LV. Nice, but not necessary (like any of this really is...).

Blush -Shu Uemura - Paradis Fluos in Pink Hibiscus
rated 3 of 5

It's beautiful in the pan - medium pink shot through with gold shimmer. Just like that on, but for 24 dollars, I believe MAC can show you an equivalent for 15 bucks less. Apply lightly for subtle glow, apply more for intensity. Good quality, etc. Just not a new trick in their bag of goodies.

Blush -Shu Uemura - Paradis Fluos in Bird of Paradise

I'll say it again - Paradis did not hold up to my expectations, especially when it's coming from Shu. Orange with orange shimmer. Can be applied subtly or wildly with maximum color deposit. I can name a glow-on that could take it's place and you wouldn't be missing this or be out 24 bucks - P Orange 53, but I would say for eyes, this was far better than Mango.

Bronzers -Shu Uemura - Paradis Bronzing Powder
rated 4 of 5

Well, I've gone around the block with bronzers. Tried a lot, though not all, just a lot. I favor Nars bronzers as they seem to be the most "natural" without the orange-red tones that many bronzers espouse. Then I tried Versace's Couture Wear in V2007 and that's a beauty, my favorite pressed powder bronzer of the moment. Armani's Fluid Sheer #3 would have to be my favorite liquid bronzer to date. I thought I could expect as much from Shu Uemura. And although I like this bronzer as it truly gives me that "bronzed" look, I never really know what to do with the rest of my neck to match my tanned face. I like the above mentioned bronzers because it they give me a nice glow without actually changing my skin color, if that's possible. I look tan, but not really tan, if you know what I mean - I don't have to adjust my neck to match my face. But with this bronzer, apparently I do. So. With that said, I believe it's too much trouble, thus I'm not all that mad for this stuff.

Well, it's gorgeous on and if you're pale and needing to look like you at least see the sun every now and then, this would be great - just remember the neck please. But if you're already partially tan, and you just want an extra glowy kick, this ain't it. It does have stronger orange-brown tones, and does make you darker.

Eye Shadow -Shu Uemura - Paradis Eye Shadow in Lotus

On the whole, I've been truly unimpressed with the Paradis collection. Or, just as a trend I'm beginning to see, I always seem to rave about the fall collection and become disappointed come the spring colleciton. Lotus is a medium pink with silvery shimmer. What more can I say. I think most of us have seen this before, if not in the Shu line, then elsewhere like MAC. Applies like a silvery pink, bordering on white. Yawn. Next collection please.

Eye Shadow -Shu Uemura - Paradis Eye Shadow in Mango
rated 3 of 5
Pauloy 4/26/2004 5:40:00 PM

Well, it's actually more Orange than Mango. In fact I would have called Papaye from the collection Mango, and Mango could have been The Inside of Papaye or something. It's definitely and orange shot through with silver shimmer. I'm not really that excited with this offering as, if you are like me, and have been a Shu fanatic for a while, you will realize how many similar orange with shimmer/glitter shades there are in the brand. I just didn't feel it was original or outstanding enough from them, and also, it's quite similar Bird of Paradise Fluos which is an orange shot through with orange shimmer. Honestly, on my hand, I could barely make it which was which, and once applied, it would only make a miniscule difference which one you had on. I think they need to come up with something better. But I can see where this would pose difficulties having hundreds of pre-existing shades in both eye shadow and glow ons.

Lip Gloss -Shu Uemura - Sweet Lipgloss in Raspberry
rated 3 of 5
Pauloy 4/26/2004 5:31:00 PM

This is a darker pink and has more gold shimmer in comparison to Straweberry. Does not really show up much on lips (if you have pigmented lips) and I found the Strawberry to actually show up more on my lips. Great scent and tube packagaing, but the color is just average.

Lip Gloss -Shu Uemura - Sweet Lipgloss in Pear
rated 4 of 5

Gorgeous pear scent. Not overly sweet, but light and refreshing. This is a white shimmer shot through with gold. A beautiful highlighter over lipstick or a nice gloss just to gloss up your lips if you don't want any color. Nice tube!

Lip Gloss -Shu Uemura - Sweet Lip Gloss Strawberry
rated 4 of 5
Pauloy 4/26/2004 5:27:00 PM

Oh, how I love these sweet lipglosses! Do not expect to get much color if you've got pigmented lips. These are sheer but have a very fresh, light fruity scent. I wouldn't call this scent an American strawberry scent, more the Japanese version of strawberry. Less artificial and sweet. Just right. This shows up as a warm silvery-white shimmer on my lips (if silver can be warm) and is not all that sticky and quite lasting for a gloss that isn't quite so tacky. If you're familiar with Shu's pot glosses, it's much lighter and sheer.

Eyeliner -NARS - Pencil in Kitty
rated 4 of 5
Pauloy 4/26/2004 5:23:00 PM

Bright blue! Gorgeous and something I would have been afraid to try, but that's always the case with Nars. I get shocked, but once it's on, I'm amazed at how it can actually look "natural" and not over the top crazy wild. This is on the verge of turquoise and teal, leaning more towards teal but a real definite eye-opener. Not for the faint of heart or for those who simply refuse blue near their eyes. This formulation seems a bit softer than some of the other older colors - blends and glides more, or could be my pencil had been sitting in my hot car for a while.

Eye Shadow -NARS - New Delight Duo
rated 3 of 5
Pauloy 4/26/2004 5:19:00 PM

If you saw the picture before buying the product and thought it was similar to Heaven, it isn't quite. Let's say it's Heaven without the saturation of color. It isn't as pink, nor as peachy-pink as one picture suggested. Rather disappointing color duo as light colors just don't work on my medium olive skin tone. It looked real lovely in the pan, but when applied, it was just a white shimmer of powder on my lids. The pink hardly stands out from the peach. A shame as it looked wonderful swiped on the back of my hand. Of course the quality is great as evident with the new releases of eyeshadows of late. This color duo however, just did not work for me.
