Highlighters -Too Faced - Absolutely Invisible Candlelight
rated 1 of 5

I bought this product today and disliked it so much, I couldn't wait to give it a less than favorable review here on Makeupalley. I thought I wanted a 'subtle' highlight, which is why I chose this rather than the Candlelight Glow compact, but this is just ridiculous. Too Faced have really stayed true to their word as this compact truly is invisible in most lights- what a waste of money!! I wanted a nice fresh glow, but on the very rare occasion you can see the shimmer on my face it just makes me look jaundice. I don't really know what I was expecting, but this certainly wasn't it. I have medium-light skin which is warm toned, but this highlighter was definitely more yellow toned than I wanted, I don't understand how some girls with more neutral/cooler/paler tones got along with this product.. How on earth this has got such rave reviews is beyond me. I don't find it flattering in the slightest. Awful product. I am going to try my damndest to get a refund on this.

Shampoo -Organix - Coconut Milk Shampoo
rated 4 of 5
Paisleyrose57 3/3/2013 2:21:00 PM

This is my HG shampoo and conditioner. I always look for sulfate-free shampoos and used to use Aveda religiously. Recently, I was having a bit of a money crisis and went on the lookout for something similar but much cheaper. I found the Organix range at Boots and they stocked the Moroccan Argan Oil, Brazilian Keratin and the Coconut Milk ranges. I chose the coconut milk range as I felt that it suited my hair type better and from the description, felt that it may give me the results that I want from a shampoo. It did not disappoint. I have to use more product than I usually would with other brands to get a decent lather going, but apart from that, I have had no problems with this shampoo. I have relatively fine, slippy hair which can sit quite flat. After using this shampoo (which I have done since Oct 2011) my hair feels much stronger, thicker and I never have any issues with volume. I'm not sure if this is the sort of product that will give you endless shine, but as that is something I am not looking to achieve- my hair is slippy enough thank you very much- it doesn't bother me! It probably wouldn't be beneficial to coarse hair types. It will help fine types of hair that need nourishment and strength. I have gained so much length since using this shampoo too. I am not sure if it is down to this shampoo (I take supplements, oil my hair etc) but I feel it definitely has had a hand in helping.

Lip Treatments -Fusion Beauty - LipFusion Lip Plumping Gloss
rated 5 of 5

LOOOOVE this product. I buy this in clear and it is absolutely gorgeous. The best gloss I have ever bought. Has a beautiful sheen to it and does plump up lips very well. I have never been able to find another lipgloss that has beat this one. I have tried all sorts from Clinique to Bobbi Brown to Smashbox... all good brands, but this is still the best for lipgloss

Mascara -Unlisted Brand - Blinc Mascara
rated 5 of 5
Paisleyrose57 9/19/2012 4:33:00 PM

I bought this mascara after giving up on my holy Grail mascara, Yves Saint Laurent. I am a veterinary nurse, so need a mascara that looks natural, effortless and most importantly, does not smudge or flake. Unfortunately, after Yves Saint Laurent changed the formula of their mascara, it no longer performed as I wanted and I had to look elsewhere. I spent a lot of time researching mascaras, looking through reviews, trying to find a product that had all the qualities I needed in order to get through the day without looking like a racoon. The mascara that kept getting rave reviews with regards to staying power was Blinc. The fact that people were saying that the only down point was that it lacked va va voom on the lashes was only a bonus for me. I needed my mascara to look as natural as possible for work, so I ordered a sample. From the first moment I tried it, I knew that this was my new HG mascara. It has ultimate staying power- no flaking or smudging, which is amazing considering I work very long hours constantly on my feet. I also wear a moisture rich concealer and the mascara still didn't budge. It also separates my lashes rather nicely giving a very natural appearance- perfect for staying out of trouble with my boss (we are not really allowed to wear make up). The thing that surprised me most about this product was that it extended my lashes really well, making my lashes look impressively long (impressive because they still looked so natural!). It hasn't given lots of volume, which is great for me, BUT if you are the type of person that wants big big lashes, this definitely isn't the mascara for you. I thought the effect on me was amazing. I am very impressed and have already purchased a full sized tube!

Concealers -Estee Lauder - Double Wear Stay-in-Place Concealer
rated 4 of 5
Paisleyrose57 9/16/2012 8:27:00 PM

This has been my favourite concealer for quite a few years (as well as Benefit's Boi-ing), it is a perfect brightening concealer and covers dark circles impressively too. The formulation is quite light and doesn't sink into fine lines. The only negative I would give this product is that Estee Lauder have recently 'tweaked' the formulation. It is still good and still does all the things stated above, BUT the finish isn't QUITE as natural as it used to be. They have made it slightly shinier than it used to be, which is a bit offputting for me. I think the result they were going for is 'brightening', but it isn't completely flattering when your eyes are puffy- it only essentuates this more, which is unfortunate. Why do cosmetic companies continue to change formulations of perfectly good products??? I still like this product though and use in conjunction with Benefit's Boi-Ing which is a bit more matte (I wouldn't need to to this if they kept the formulation. This would be 5 LIPSTICKS if they left the formula well alone!

Liquid -L'Oreal - Lumi Magique Foundation
rated 2 of 5
Paisleyrose57 9/16/2012 8:17:00 PM

This foundation made me break out in spots. My skin is quite oily, but I havent had problems with spots for years. As soon as I started using this I got huge cystic pimples. This foundation is also super shiny too. At first I liked the consistency of the product (not too heavy) and thought that the coverage and colour were perfect for me, but instead of giving me a 'dewy' glow, it looked so unnatural. I wouldn't buy this again- L'oreal were heading in the right direction with this foundation, but havent quite pulled it off.

Mascara -Yves Saint Laurent - Mascara Volume Effet Faux Cils
rated 1 of 5
Paisleyrose57 7/11/2012 10:41:00 AM

:( I used Volume Effet Faux Cils for years, it was my go-to mascara until I got made redundant a couple of years ago- back then the only thing I could fault was that it dried out so quickly! Apart from that it was worth the money as it gave me luxuriously long and thick eyelashes without a hint of smudging and was far superior to any other mascara availiable at that time. Today it is a different story... I recently started a new job and thought I would treat myself to my once favourite mascara. The packaging was the same, as was the tube and brush. When I opened the tube, the smell was still as potent as it was a few years back. I was positive that my eyes would look as glamorous as they did back then. I used to love the formula because although it would give you stunning lashes it was buildable, so you could have natural looking lashes during the day then take them through to the night just by adding more coats of mascara. Unfortunately, this is not possible anymore. Yes, the formula is still buildable BUT it is impossible to get through at least an hour without looking like I've done two rounds with Mike Tyson... Not really the look I was going for. Therefore, I take wet wipes with me wherever I go and routinely wipe under my eyes to keep them free of smudges and looking tidy, which also isn't something I was planning to do. Talk about high maintenance, it really isn't worth the effort. The smudging has annoyed me so much that I can't even be bothered to describe the mascaras effect on the lashes. It's pointless. To top things off, the formula still dries very quickly (about a month), but this is something I would be willing to tolerate if the results of the mascara were still amazing. Conclusion: Something about the formula has definitely changed, the unsightly smudging is too much for me to bear and is a definite deal breaker. I am disappointed that Yves Saint Laurent have changed a product that (for me at least) didn't need to be improved upon. They are just alienating loyal customers. I am not willing to spend so much money on a mascara to end up looking like a panda bear. Not impressed and this is the very last time I purchase this mascara. There are much better mascaras on the market than this.
