Concealers -Guerlain - Issima Precious Light Smoothing Illuminator [DISCONTINUED]

How can I put it? This product makes those other 'pens' seem as effective as crayons. And I mean kid's crayons, not the makeup kind. Yes, it's expensive. Yes, there could be more in the tube. Yes you will need a different kind of product to conceal breakouts and blemishes etc. But who cares when the effect on the eye area is completely, utterly and totally worth every cent and does exactly what you've always dreamed a concealer/highlighter would? Straight up and down HG. Search is over ladies!

Treatments -Frederic Fekkai - Technician Color Care Mask

I have wavy, coarse, THICK hair, which I also highlight and wear long and heavily layered. It has very little natural shine (it's all been tortured out of it, but I have the kind of hair that doesn't reflect light well anyway). I used to be a Kerastase devotee but I got a sample of this from Mecca Cosmetica (go straight there Aus ladies) and then just had to go straight back the next week and buy the full size. This is, without question, the absolute best hair mask available hands down. Unfortunately it's also the most expensive. If I need to shave my legs in the shower (or do anything else that takes 3 minutes ;-) ) I will apply it in there and wait. But if I have some extra time (or a date!) I put it on and top with a shower cap and hot towel and relax for twenty minutes and OH MY GOD. My hair has never been so touch-it soft! I can't stop running my fingers through it! My stylist has wanted to cut the bottom 5-10 cms of my hair off forever but I can't bear to part with the length...even though I know myself that length is now just nasty, frazzled straw. With this stuff it's no longer an issue, it looks like shiny healthy hair again. Oh, did I say shiny? AMAZING. My hair has had no shine since 1994! Try it, it is worth every cent. I would buy it for triple the price (but please Mr Fekkai, don't take me seriously). LOVE IT. When your hair is great, the rest of you feels great too. Bliss!

Liquid -Christian Dior - Diorskin Nude Hydrating Makeup SPF 10 [DISCONTINUED]

After falling for Dior's Forever Foundation I KNEW I shouldn't have bought this, because it gives me the exact some problems. Fabulous foundation when just applied but as some other reviewers attest, annoyingly changes colour and becomes orange after a couple of hours. Also, breaks me out (and ordinarily NOTHING breaks me out). Now I wish I had obtained a sample somehow before spending my money. I need to learn to listen to that little voice that says "No more Dior foundations!"

Tinted Moisturizer -Christian Dior - Hydraction Deep Hydration Skin Tint SPF 20 [DISCONTINUED]

I bought this on a whim today and I'm so glad I did. It is worth all the raves here and more and leaves every other TM I've dever tried for dead (and I've tried them all). I am turning 40 shortly but have great skin, but as my skin ages I notice it looks better when foundations/TMs contain a little bit of shimmer (and Dior have it right here, no sparkles, just a uniform glow thanks to miniscule shimmer particles). Nothing looks worse than matte formulations on lines (even if they're fine)...I don't understand women who stick to matte as they age, clearly younger skin looks dewy and fresh, not flat and dull. Weird. This covers really well too and I set it with a very light dusting of Bloom's mineral powder foundation (this is THE BEST mineral product out there and I've tried them all too). The finished product is simply luminous skin. Like another poster said, this and Giorgio Armani's face fabric are the best TMs out there. But I think I actually prefer this one as the GA is silicon based and this seems more moisturising. Love, love, love it.

Lips -Clinique - Quickliner for Lips- Cocoa Rose
Owlmummy 2/12/2008 4:07:00 AM
What's not to love about this? My sister gave me hers when she got it as as a GWP and didn't want it. Her loss! I love this colour and line and fill lips then add a little balm or gloss. Perfect. It's good to smudge with a finger to prevent it looking too hard though. Great staying power too.

Lip Gloss -Lancome - Lancome Juicy Tubes
Owlmummy 2/12/2008 4:02:00 AM
Love everything about this product. It's glossier than others and wears well. Yes it's thick but this is a great thing in a gloss. It stays put and gives lips extra dimension, which is great for us thin lipped gals. The colours are great and the tastes are (generally) delicious. I always feel flirty and fun when I wear these.

Concealers -Giorgio Armani - high precision retouch
Owlmummy 2/12/2008 3:58:00 AM
I like the little brush in tube thingy, very sanitary to use. But the formula is the winner here. Never settles into lines and provides enough coverage whatever the flaw. On a good skin day I'll use this just under the eyes, around the nose etc and then finish with powder. Voila, the ultimate no makeup look! It is pricey, but my tube has lasted ages. EDIT: This is my go to for blemishes, but I found that for the eye area, nothing comes close to Guerlain Issima Precious Light. Transforms my tired eyes instantly, I've never looked so refreshed even when kept up half the night by a toddler.

Concealers -Christian Dior - Skinflash Radiance Booster Pen-002 Candlelight
Owlmummy 2/12/2008 3:55:00 AM
This is a nice concealer and I feel it works well on top (not underneath!) of any foundation. It works particularly well on top of my HG foundation, Bloom Pure Mineral powder foundation. It just provides a little bit of extra coverage under the eyes without any cakiness. I do like the shade and it really is like candlelight when used as a highlighter! I love how easy and mess free it is to use. Not thick enough to be HG as a concealer per se, but I don't think this is the intention with this product. EDIT: I've since found Guerlain Precious Light and there is no comparison. I have reduced my rating to a 2 now that I now what a pen type highlighter/concealer can really do...with no chalkiness in sight!

Moisturizers -Lancome - Primordiale Optimum (Normal to Dry Skin)
Owlmummy 2/12/2008 3:49:00 AM
Have just started using this but wanted to comment on the lovely texture. I actually like highly fragranced products (nice ones, not ones that smell gross) and I do love this about Lancome in general. I love the feel of this cream, it's rich and I always feel that when dealing with dry skin, rich is best! Will update with results.

Liquid -Christian Dior - DiorSkin Forever Extreme Wear Flawless Makeup SPF

I bought this based on the reviews here and have to say although I think it's a very good product it just didn't have that wow factor for me. I think the colours are a bit limited and am not convinced the one I have (33) is a perfect match but it was the closest I could get. It still looks like foundation (I don't know how anyone can say it looks like skin) but I agree the finish good. It is extremely comfortable to wear and it is long lasting. I just wish the colour match was better, I think I would wear it with more confidence. Can't stand tide marks! I've just found my HG foundation and it's Bloom's Pure Mineral Powder. There's no reviews here yet but I'm working on it! THAT is an amazing product.

Mascara -Lancome - Definicils Mascara
Owlmummy 2/12/2008 3:25:00 AM
I used to wear this years ago and stopped for some weird reason, I think just curiosity to try other brands. I've tried everything in between and I mean EVERYTHING and I am so very glad I rediscovered it. It's just what I look for in a mascara. I'm not that fussed about volume but I really like length. This adds it without doing that weird thing of making your lashes 'fluffy' (it seems more like a gel formula, but one with bite). It's similar to Clinique's High Definition but a million times better. I love it and now I'm never going back to the others. HG.

Mascara -Clinique - Naturally Glossy Mascara
Owlmummy 2/12/2008 3:19:00 AM
This mascara darkens lashes fine. I do like it for day way but it's not overly dramatic, but that's not what it's meant to be. It's just meant to give you naturally glossy lashes. Which it does brilliantly! Have just repurchased Lancome Definicils, which I wore years ago, and now wonder why I stopped. Now THAT is an HG mascara.
