Polishes -Sephora - brownie
OvaryAction 1/19/2013 11:16:00 AM
I love this very dark brown colour. It goes opaque with two carefully applied coats. It's dark enough that it may appear black in dim lighting but you can easily see the brown tinge in good light. As for formula, it does result in tipwear quickly. I use Seche Vite topcoat over the top and it still chips and wears near the edges fairly soon. Still, I like the polish. I'm not sure if this brand is still available at Sephora as they've now partnered with OPI for their polishes.

Blush -Cover Girl - Cheekers - Plumberry Glow
OvaryAction 12/24/2012 10:24:00 PM
I randomly bought this blush and it turned out to suit me really well. It's not really plum but pink. I am very pale with pink undertones with naturally blonde hair that I dye to a white-blonde and when I touch up my roots and put on this blush I get "Wow, you look really rested" comments all day. I've also had people comment that I must have "gotten sun" on my cheeks and that I looked healthy.

Lipstick -Revlon - Super Lustrous in Blackberry
OvaryAction 7/3/2011 8:17:00 PM
I've been wearing this shade for about 10 years. I'm pale & blonde with blue eyes and this deep color is very flattering on me. The lasting power is pretty good. For a drugstore lipstick, it's great.

Lip Gloss -MAC - Kissable Lipcolour in Peacocky
OvaryAction 1/12/2011 1:49:00 PM
I gave this a 3 simply because of the unique color. Otherwise it would have rated lower. This smells divine, and is pigmented. The only problem is the formula --- it has zero staying power. I was disappointed, because I was so excited about the color that I got this the day the collection was released. For something so expensive, and given the impressive staying power of MAC lipsticks, I was expecting something that wore better. After a glass of water, the inside part of my lips was completely bare. Please, MAC --- release an actual lipstick in this shade! Amplified Creme Peacocky would be a dream come true.

Lipstick -NYX - Round Lipstick in Circe #522
OvaryAction 11/16/2010 9:54:00 AM
I was really surprised by this nude lipstick. Over MAC Naked liner, it covers my very pigmented lips very well and the slight shine avoids giving me a deathly look as some pale lipsticks do (I am very pale skinned with pale hair). It doesn't smell strange and wears reasonably well.

Makeup Brushes -Kat Von D - Makeup Brush Set
OvaryAction 9/13/2010 9:46:00 PM
I love these. I got them for Christmas two years ago and they have totally changed how I apply my eyeshadow. The two fluffy brushes are great for larger area applications --- I know most people prefer stiff brushes for patting on loose pigments but the smaller of the fluffy ones works well if you pat gently. The angled brush is great for doing my brows or applying shadow as liner. The flat, thin brush is also great for the tail of a brow or certain applications of liner. The short, stiff brush is a great brush if you need to do serious blending of dark colors, and could also be used to smudge liner or apply cream shadow.

Eyeliner -Urban Decay - 24-7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in Zero
OvaryAction 6/20/2010 8:56:00 PM
I really like this liner. It's soft, applies easily, and stays put very well. I use all eye products over TFSI. This does take a minute or so to set, but once it does, it's pretty firmly in place. I do find that on days my allergies bother me, it does tend to stray from my top lids down to underneath the outer corner of my eyes. So do most non-Liquidlast liners, so that's not surprising, but it does wear well. If I tightline and put it on my waterline, even with waterproof eye makeup remover, it stays between my lashes for a few days!

Lipstick -MAC - Amplified Creme - Girl About Town
OvaryAction 6/20/2010 8:51:00 PM
I love this lipstick! Great formula (Amplified is my favorite MAC finish) and a beautiful color. I use this with Magenta lipliner. Put on your foundation right to the edges of your lips, apply Magenta lipliner carefully. Apply Girl About Town, blot, and apply again. Then trace the outside of your lips with Urban Decay's Ozone lipliner to prevent bleeding. I find all MAC lipsticks a little drying if you wear them every day, so be sure to keep your lips moisturized and exfoliated --- although the Amplified finish is one of the most forgiving when it comes to dry lips. It's also got a nice sheen, and you don't really have to apply gloss over top. The color is unique and very striking on pale skintones.

Eyeliner -MAC - Liquidlast Liner - Point Black
OvaryAction 6/20/2010 8:48:00 PM
Overall, this is a good liquid liner, and stays put very well, but you have to be very adept with liquid liners and I feel that you have to use a separate brush to get best results. It's a thick formula, so you have to be careful not to apply too much, or it doesn't dry properly. You also have to avoid blinking until it's dry, or you'll get transfer. A MAC artist sold me this way before I was good enough with liner, let alone liquid liner, to be able to use it properly. I kept getting a gloopy, thick mess all over my lids and lashes. A year later, I have now had a lot of practice with gel and liquid liners, and can apply it deftly with a thin, angled brush (clean that brush well, or the Liquidlast will dry and ruin it!). It does stay put incredibly (I just wore it in a mosh pit during Iggy and the Stooges, and it didn't move), but the learning curve is a bit high for Liquidlast newbies. I went through a phase when I ditched it in a drawer because the application is so difficult.

Concealers -Make Up For Ever - Full Cover Concealer
OvaryAction 12/10/2009 2:10:00 PM
I thought this would end up being my HG concealer, but it doesn't work for me AT ALL. Complete dud. I tried applying this with fingers, brush; patting, rubbing; with and without moisturizer; under, over and without foundation; with powder, without; and all of the above in different combinations. The end result was always the same: it disappeared after a few minutes. Waterproof, my ass. I tried to seek help with this and advice was to contact MUFE and to try a primer. I contacted MUFE to ask for help and never got a reply (thanks, MUFE --- your customer service is as great as your concealer!); as for the primer, this doesn't say it needs a primer and a $36 (cdn) concealer shouldn't need supporting products to work. Plus... I'm not buying a MUFE primer that's nearly $50 to make a concealer this expensive work! It will probably fail just as badly. Before buying this, I researched here and on the Sephora site and hands-down, this concealer got the best reviews. Some claimed to wear it and have it stay on while swimming. I don't believe that for a second. I'm taking this crappy waste of money back. ***UPDATE** Added an additional lipstick for customer service. MUFE did eventually return my email. They sent me samples of two concealers and several foundation samples. The Unfortunatley, I didn't have any better luck with the Full Cover concealer, but their foundations are nice. The Lift Concealer was better, but certainly not long-lasting either. They didn't include Mat Velvet, which is the foundation that looks best to me and I'd most like to try, but I will try to get a sample at Sephora.

Liquid -Revlon - ColorStay Makeup with SoftFlex SPF 6 for Combination/Oily Skin
OvaryAction 4/12/2009 3:36:00 PM
I've been wearing this since I was a teen. It's long-wearing and the shade Ivory is perfect for my porcelain (pink-undertoned pale) skin.
I have oily skin, and it had good staying power. Sometimes I apply a very light dusting of powder to my tzone pre-application to help with oil. It covers green concealer well.
I wish it had a pump, though.

Makeup Brushes -Coastal Scents - Pink Kabuki
OvaryAction 4/12/2009 3:22:00 PM
I wanted a kabuki brush for applying powder and blending blush. I didn't have any shedding issues when I washed it, and it's holding up fine, especially considering the low price I paid for it. If you are on a budget, this is a great kabuki.

Lipstick -Maybelline - Superstay lipcolor
OvaryAction 4/12/2009 2:45:00 PM
I have this in Strawberry and Flame. Strawberry is a VERY flattering color for blonde girls with pale, pink-undertoned skin and blue eyes.
I agree with other reviewers --- the application is key. Your lips have to be clean, dry, and unbalmed, or else the lipcolor grits and peels.
If you apply this correctly, it will last a really long time depending on what you eat. I find salad dressing and oily things will cause it to come off a bit, but you can eat and drink most things without problems.

Eye Shadow -MAC - Omega
OvaryAction 4/11/2009 1:26:00 PM
I use this color to fill my brows. It is pigmented, applies nicely, stays well, and doesn't shimmer (which is great, because I don't want shimmery brows).

Eye Shadow -MAC - Eye Shadow 4: Lucky Tom
OvaryAction 4/11/2009 1:24:00 PM
This is a great palette and you can make numerous looks. The colors can be duped with the CS palettes, but the MAC shadows feel nicer to work with.
Paradisco: is a little more sheer than I would have imagine, but you can build the color.
Creme Royale: Nice neutral or highlight
Stylin: The color I was most unsure about is actually brilliant for bringing out my grey-blue eyes.
Lucky Tom: Great for outer v or smudged as liner
I am very, very satisfied with this quad. The packaging is solid and beautifully made.
