Liquid -Rimmel - Recover illuminating anti-fatigue foundation [DISCONTINUED]
OliveBunny 7/17/2006 11:59:00 PM
This is a good low price alternative to all those department store illuminating foundation. I have break-out prone, sensitive combination skin. I did not break out, I did not turn into a grease ball half day...and it made my scar-filled face look radiant. I would recommend using it in selected areas only, because it can make the T-Zone look really shiny due to the sparkles. I apply it to under eye, on the cheeks, side of temple and just beside the chin. For people with deeper lines I wouldn't recommend applying this heavily lined areas, but to the hollowed in areas to "pump" up the sinken in areas. Over all I like it and I plan to go back and stock up on different colors for my kit.

Moisturizers -Kiehls - Ultra Facial Moisturizer
OliveBunny 6/7/2006 3:47:00 PM
I have sensitive, combination, Ecezma & Acne all happening on my face at the same time. This is one of the few moisturizer that I can use which does not aggrivate the deadly zones on my face and provide moisture at the same time. I use this as my winter moisturizer as it might be a bit too heavy for summer. I switched to Sodium PCA Moisturizer for summer as that is one of my favorite light weight summer lotions. The price for this moisturizer is reasonable, packaging is good (santary because you don't have to dig your finger in), over all speaking I like it. It doesn't help with anti-aging or anything in that nature, just a plain lotion.

Moisturizers -Kiehls - Sodium PCA Oil Free Moisturizer
OliveBunny 6/7/2006 3:43:00 PM
I have sensitive, combination, Ecezma & acne all happening on my face at the same time. Imagine trying to find a moisturizer that would not aggraviate any one of the above. Kiehl's Sodium PCA Oil Free Moisturizer has no fragrance, thumbs up for the sensitive & ecezma part, and it is oil free and so light weight that it feels so fresh on my skin. That covers the rest of the problems I have. I did not break out from it, it did not turn me into a grease ball mid day and skin feels good. I used it till the last drop, will probably repurchase this summer.

Treatments (Eye) -Dermalogica - Multivitamin power firm for eye and liparea
OliveBunny 12/15/2005 1:43:00 AM
I got this product through a trade show, so I got 50% off (thank God). I've heard so much about the prestige quality of Dermalogica, how it is a good quality spa line, big stars use them....blah blah blah. This silicone based eye gel does not amaze me to the least. First of all, it does not hydrate. I was told by the SA that the whole point of this eye gel is to foam a protective barrier around the eyes and combat free radicals with the vitamin packed formula. Secondly, I liked the feeling of the smoothness around my eyes (thanks to the silicone) at first, but after just a week of use I start to develop allergic reactions. The area around my eyes becomes itchy and burning. At first I thought it was only weather change but with many trial and error, I finally have to give up using this eye gel. Now I am a loyal user of Kiehl's Avocado Eye Cream. 2 lippie for the poor performance and expensive price.

Cleansers -LUSH - Aqua Marina Cleansing Roll
OliveBunny 12/5/2005 6:42:00 PM
I really like this cleansing roll for the fact that it is my first time trying a clay based, goo-like, no lather cleanser. I don't have much difficulty with the packaging because I took a chuck out and cut into pea size (believe me pea size is enough for the whole face) and put little pea size bits into a separate small plastic container so I won't risk contaminating the whole pot of it. The usage is difficult at first but I kinda developed my own way : take the pea size and put it in my palm, add couple drops of warm water and make it into a pink paste. Then rub onto my face one section at a time until I cover my whole face. Leave on for 1 min or so then rinse off. I have no trouble rinsing it off clean; mind you it suppose to leave your skin feeling moist and smooth, so it will not give that squaky clean feeling. I actually really like the smell of this seaweed roll-like cleanser, I look forward to my morning wash every day! **NOTE: it does not take off makeup properly, I only use this as a morning cleanser because I don't think it is strong enough as an evening cleanser to rid the oil and dirt.

Liquid -Marcelle - Oil Free Matte Finish Make Up in Normal/Oily/Combo Skin
OliveBunny 11/10/2004 5:14:00 AM
I love this foundation. It feel so nice and light weight on my skin, I can hardly feel that I am wearing anything. I tried almost all of the drug store brand foundation and at least 1/2 of the department store foundations, this one feels the most comfortable on my skin because it goes on like 2nd skin. It does not break me out (great news), it is not greasy, does not change color on my combination / oily skin and it does not dry out the dry area of my skin either. With a lot of foundations for combination skin I find the finish either too heavy (that you can feel a layer of cream color on your face) or too drying for the dry areas of the face. This foundation leaves a soft matte finish, and I do find the matte finish does stay on a little longer than other "oil absorbing" foundation I tried. I still have to blot my face every few hours, but the oil production is noticably less. I must also mention the quick setting time of this product. For some foundation you put it on and it feels like it still haven't fully set in 30 min (and you get foundation all over your collar). But this foundation sets in less than 5 second for me and it last a good 6 hours. I do find this a little expensive for a drug store brand ($12.99), but trust me it's worth it. If they have more color selection & a pump bottle for this foundation I would give it a full 5 lippie. The color selection is a hectic for people with yellow undertone & medimum tone skin. The colors are either too pale or too pink. I had Linen, which is a less than perfect color but I still wear it every day. ^.^

Mascara -Marcelle - Lash Extreme Mascara
OliveBunny 8/26/2004 3:37:00 AM
"A favourite with sensitive eyes. A water-based formula that's also pH balanced, ophthalmologist tested, and suitable for all, even contact lense wearers..." These words on the box really attracted my attention. I have extremely sensitive eyes and I react to many eye makeup. I am a sucker for lengthening mascaras, and this is what this mascara promise to do. For the sensitive part, it is very gentle, I have no reaction to it. But for the lengthening part, I didn't see any substainal lengthening going on here. The formula is nice and thick, but does not clamp. It will help thicken lashes, but don't expect too much lengthening going on here. My favorite lengthening mascara will still be L'Oreal Lash Out.

Blush -Almay - Nearly Naked Touch-Pad Liquid Blush in Peach Au Natural
OliveBunny 8/26/2004 3:32:00 AM
I like the Nearly Naked Touch Pad foundation so I thought why not give the blush a try? The Touch Pad blush share the exact same theory of the foundation, only that this is a blush and has no SPF in it. It comes in 4 natural colors and once again, no testers available to try these out. I tried Peach Au Natural & Berry Nude. I am an Asian with yellow skin undertone, the Peach Au Natural look so natural on me, as a matter of fact it looked so natural that I might as well not wear it coz you cannot see it at all. I try Berry Nude (a bright pink) and this one works better with my skin color coz it is darker than the rest of the color. I think Peach Au Ntural will look good for those with pale skin. I am not sure if I like this the same as I like the Nearly Naked Touch Pad foundation, its color is just too sheer to be noticed.

Lipstick -Almay - Lip Vitality #20
OliveBunny 12/5/2003 10:42:00 PM
This is a high quality drug store brand lipstick. It has quite a decent amount of pigmentation, it has more color than Revlon's Moisturous lipstick. It is creamy but not greasy. I actually find it a bit drier than Revlon's Moisturous lipstick. I compare the two because they are a similar product with different ingredients. They are both creamy, moisturizing lipstick with SPF, except Almay's Lip vitality with Kinetin helps fight aging. This lipstick is fragrance free and have no funny taste to it. Color # 20 has a hint of golden shimmery. In order for the shimmery to reveal one can apply lip color, blot, apply again, blot again...repeat this procedure and you will get a hint of the color stained on your lips plus the golden shimmery. This lipstick cost $10.98 CAD.

Powder -Physicians Formula - Botanical translucent face powder
OliveBunny 12/5/2003 10:27:00 PM
I purchased this product not only because of the cute packaging, but also because it claimed to contain a Biopolymer Complex made from plant extracts known to help skin fight the aggression of modern life. And it is a skin brightener, so I thought this would be a great gift for my sister who doesn't know how to do make up at all. I gave it a try first, and found out that although it does give a slight hint of brightening to the face, it really doesn't do much to cover up anything. If you already have close to perfect skin and you would like some highlighting of the perfection, then this would be a good product. It is Hypoallergenic and fragrance free, suitable for most skin types. But if you would like to hide imperfections such as dark spots, under eye circles and etc, then this powder is not enough. Another downside of this powder is it gives a slight powdery finish to the face. So people may notice you are wearing powder = it is not a completely natural finish. But this is the problem with most powders. And this powder will not keep shine at bay for too long, roughly two hours after application the shine will swim through the powder and surface on your face if you have combo skin or oily skin. This translucent face powder cost around $17.99 CAD, which is quite expensive. It is 20% more pricy compare to the higher end drug store brand such as Revlon and L'Oreal.

Liquid -Christian Dior - Diorlight
OliveBunny 12/1/2003 5:32:00 PM
This is a good foundation, very light and sheer, gives a natural no-make up look. It wearing life is decent, but if you are out in the sun or in a humid surrounding, then it will wear off pretty fast. It has SPF 10, which is always a nice thing to have. It is non-drying, but it will not give a perfect matt finish to oily / combination skin either. It has a silky smooth texture that is uncomparable to other foundations. It glides on so smoothly with fingers, and very light weight indeed. It retails for $46.99 CAD. A bottle should last at 9 months - 1 year if you use it once or twice weekly. I would recommend this to all those who want a sheer coverage foundation.

Crème -Almay - One Coat Light and Easy Makeup [DISCONTINUED]
OliveBunny 12/1/2003 5:27:00 PM
This is a stick foundation, with SPF (if I recall right). It is very easy to use and it has a creamy texture to it. For people with combination / oily skin, this foundation will not give a perfect matt finish, although it is oil free, you might still experience shiny T-zone areas. Best thing to do is to set it with powder, and keep oil blotting sheets handy. It wear life is ok, don't expect to see much of this product left at the end of the day though. It retails for $11.99, not too expensive for a decent foundation. One stick should last around 2 months if you use it everyday. For me, it lasted for over a year (mind you I only use it once per week or less).

Treatments (Eye) -Clean & Clear - Under Eye Brightening Stick
OliveBunny 12/1/2003 5:24:00 PM
I really like this Under Eye brightening Stick, however, don't expect much moisture from this stick though. It contains shimmery light reflecting pigments that claimed to reflect light so the under eye dark circle will not be as visible. Frankly, the reflective shimmery particles will not hide a dark eye circle, it does little to make it less visible. So if u really want to hide your dark eye circle, you might need to wear concealer. Also, if you have dry skin around ur eyes, then I would advise you use a eye cream before you use this product. However, over all this product is quite fun to use because it has a cooling sensation when you apply onto your skin, and it is very convenient to bring around. It retails for roughly $11.99 CAD.

Lipstick -L'Oreal - Shine Delice Lipstick in Pink Lemonade #112
OliveBunny 12/1/2003 5:20:00 PM
This lipstick, like the Moisturous Lipstick by Revlon is a creamy moisturizing type of lipstick. However, compare to the one by Revlon, this So Delice has a very short wearing life. The color goes on with medimum coverage. It wears for around 1 - 2 hours if you don't lick your lips. And if you have winkles or finelines on your lips, this color will bleed. It retails for around $8.99 CAD, quite expensive for a lipstick that don't wear.

Mascara -L'Oreal - Le Grand Curl Waterproof [DISCONTINUED]
OliveBunny 12/1/2003 5:15:00 PM
This is a good mascara. The waterproof formula really live up to its claim. One time I wore this mascara and that day I cried like mad after a fight with my mother. I thought I would have black residues of mascara all over my eye but when I checked in front of the mirror, there were absolute NO smuging or clumping. The curl of the lashes were all gone but can you blame it? The gel formula dries very quickly, so there is not need to wait long before you can use the lash comb or just pack up and go! It retails for roughly $6.99 CAD, good price for a good mascara.
