Fragrances -Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab - Urd

I had to wear this a couple of times to fully appreciate it. Perhaps one's body changes each day due to hormones and such. I'm not a huge fan of fruits in my fragrances so I had to keep an open mind. As expected, I found the top notes cloying and smelling way too much likes grapes and bubblegum. After a few hours, the scent took on a smokey quality and my mother told me she liked it, as it reminded her of temple incense. I love incense-y scents, but not when they merge with fruits. I wore it again the following day and this time I didn't get any of the grapes. Just the incense. The drydown took me by surprise (I believe it's nag champa?) and I thought that it was completely worth the wait. I love nostalgic scents and this part took me back to my primary school days - walking towards the school with its plumeria/frangipani/champa filled narrow streets. Absolutely haunting.

Blush -MAC - Sheertone Blush in Peaches
rated 1 of 5
OceansHeartbeat 7/18/2009 2:44:00 PM

I wish I knew what my skin's undertone was. It's either neutral-cool or just cool. I still can't figure it out! Some peach blushes look good on me (I think it was Shu Uemura's P47), as in, they look flushed and natural. But this one just looks ORANGE. I applied very little, but it still looked bad. :( I'm not sure if it's oxidisation or that I can't seem to wear some peach blushes. It's always trial and error for me.

Lips -My Lip Stuff - Marshmallow Krispies
rated 5 of 5
OceansHeartbeat 7/18/2009 2:39:00 PM

My very first My Lip Stuff balm and I absolutely love it! I'm note sure how rice krispies taste like, but this reminds me of Quaker S'mores Granola Bars! The exact taste and smell. I got this balm as an emergency as I was running out of lip balms (I'm totally addicted and my lips are always chapped) and I'm so glad that it did/does so much more than just save my lips. Usually, the good lip balms never taste or smell good. I can't wait to get more balms from My Lip Stuff!

Lipstick -MAC - Lustre in Hug Me
rated 4 of 5
OceansHeartbeat 9/12/2008 3:33:00 PM

I didn't like this lipstick at first as I thought it was too pale for my pigmented lips and GGG skintone. But I tried it on again the other day over lip balm (along with dark smokey eyes) and it looked good! I guess the lipstick on its own is pretty opaque and drying, hence the too pale lip. But when your lips are moisturised, it looks great. :) Really nice nude-pink-brown lip colour. Love this 2nd to my Clinique Tenderheart lipstick.

Lipstick -MAC - Frost - Angel
rated 3 of 5
OceansHeartbeat 9/12/2008 3:29:00 PM

I'm really undecided about this lipstick. I'm generally a fuss-free woman and hate taking time to wear makeup. I wanted to try Angel based on the reviews here and I admit, Kim Kardashian (her fake tanned self is a couple of shades lighter than me, I imagine - NC40 or something). I can wear this shade, surprisingly. It's a soft pale pink and works pretty well with a lots of mascara, lip balm, a clear lipgloss and a nude lipliner, if you wish. But I just hate the texture of it. It's so drying and opaque, that you can't wear it on its own without lip balm. I love it with lip balm and lip gloss, but since it takes so much work, I think I'll just pass it on. They should make it a lustre or something. Maybe I'll buy it then.

Lipstick -MAC - Odyssey
rated 1 of 5
OceansHeartbeat 9/12/2008 3:21:00 PM

I thought I liked this on my GGG skintone when I wore it the first time, but truth is, it looked too dark purple on my pigmented mauve lips. I don't get red, pink or any other colour from this. Just dark purple. The texture is great, it lasts, but the colour is just so wrong...:( I do love dark coloured lipsticks (like Chanel Vamp/Rouge Noir), but this one was just too dark and almost scary on me. *lol*

Eyeliner -Chanel - Le Crayon Khol - Noir
rated 5 of 5
OceansHeartbeat 7/4/2008 3:45:00 PM

Dammit, I just realised that I'd always hated my MAC fluidlines. *lol* I'm a simple, old-fashioned girl and I prefer working with kohl pencils or Indian kajal. I just don't know why I ever bought into the idea of gel eyeliners and brushes which made my life more complicated. I don't really care for waterproof eyeliners. It's not like I'm going to deliberately get caught in the rain. And I don't cry all that much anyway. This Chanel pencil is the best thing I've used since my kajal. I tried the MAC kohl pencil, but it smudged on my eyes like crazy within 5 minutes! I was told by the Chanel SA at the counter that I should get something waterproof, but I insisted that I wanted this one and she warned me that it would smudge. She was wrong! I wore it out for an entire day and I had no smudges! Of course, there was no rain or tears either. =P I love the intense black colour, the thin line on my inner rims (which I could never draw with my MAC Fluidline...I always ended up with a thick line) and the texture. I have yet to find a drugstore kohl pencil like this (would save me a ton of money), so the search continues. But till then, this will be my HG. ;)

Blush -Milani - Smooth Finish Blush - Luminous
rated 3 of 5
OceansHeartbeat 7/4/2008 3:30:00 PM

I usually stay away from peachy-pink or coral blushes, but I wanted to try this since it's the supposed dupe of the infamous NARS Orgasm. *lol* I like it at first, since it gave me a luminous glow, but after looking at photos of myself, I realised that the blush was making me look orange and way too shimmery (not a good look for my oily and sensitive skin). :( I managed to find MAC Shy Beauty recently and I find it works much better for me.

Lipstick -Clinique - Different Lipstick - Tenderheart
rated 5 of 5
OceansHeartbeat 7/4/2008 3:27:00 PM

My HG nude lipstick! This is the only nude I can ever wear and actually look good. It's not technically a nude since it apparently has too much brown or red in it, but that works for my GGG skintone with pigmented lips. I tried every MAC nude/MLBB shade, but they ended up either making me look like a corpse or having waaay too brown lips or drying out my lips. Tenderheart is just the perfect combination of mauve, brown and red in a sheer formulation that lets you build as much colour as you want. It's also not drying. I wish they hadn't discontinued it in Singapore. :( But I wouldn't mind buying it over and over again from online. I love it too much!

Blush -Wet 'n' Wild - Silk Finish Heather Silk
rated 5 of 5
OceansHeartbeat 7/4/2008 3:22:00 PM

This was my first blush (I was 16)! =P I had to hunt this one down, for the sake of nostalgia and all, haha. I really missed this blush since they discontinued the Wet 'n' Wild line in Singapore. I'm just glad I got a kind MUA-er who CP-ed this for me. By golly, this is probably the most pigmented blush ever! That's a good thing, of course...if you use very little. I'm NC42-43 and if I accidentally apply too much, I end up looking like a clown! The colour is so strong that even if you try to rub it off or set powder on top, it doesn't fade! Still, this is my first love and almost the same colour as my natural flush. On most days, I just wear this with an MLBB lipgloss and I'm out the door. :) Best blush for me. Dirt cheap as well!

Lip Gloss -Chanel - Sirop Glossimer [DISCONTINUED]
rated 5 of 5
OceansHeartbeat 7/4/2008 3:16:00 PM

I'd been wanting this lipgloss for a looooong time! It wasn't available in Singapore, so I tried to hunt it down online. I didn't want to buy it since it's friggin' expensive! It's always good to try stuff out first before splurging. It's really hard to swap for this one, but I managed to do so very recently (bless her). What can I say? I don't believe in hype...but this is the best lipgloss I've ever used. It looks hot coral pink in the tube, but actually goes on a very sheer warm pink. Beautiful with dark smokey eyes. I can't usually wear corals, but this is an exception. It's expensive for a lipgloss, but then again, it's Chanel. ;) Best glossimer I've tried. The others were either too opaque and goopy or had too much glitter. Sirop is just PERFECT. The best part is that it actually shows up on my pigmented dark mauve lips! I'll definitely buy this online after it runs out!

Blush -MAC - Beauty Powder in True Romantic
rated 5 of 5
OceansHeartbeat 7/4/2008 3:08:00 PM

Oooh, this is an awesome blush. Too bad it's LE. I was looking for a blush to complement by MAC Sweetie and Syrup lipsticks and this is it! The perfect mauve/plummy-pink shade on my neutral GGG skintone. The shimmer is very minimal and only serves to add a glow. I'm not sure it would work on extremely warm skintones, though.

Blush -MAC - Beauty Powder Blush in Shy Beauty
rated 5 of 5
OceansHeartbeat 7/4/2008 3:05:00 PM

I love this! I didn't think it would work on my GGG skin, but it does! I also find it better than Milani Luminous (which I used to like, until I realised that it looked a little orange on me...that seems to happen to me a lot with peachy-pink blushes) and gives that healthy glow. It's too light for me to call it a blush. I can't possibly turn peachy-pink when I'm embarrassed. I turn dark pink or red. *lol* But this is a good highlighter/illuminator to have and I'm glad I got it. I'm gonna use it on dark lipstick or coloured eyeshadow days. :)

Fragrances -Kenzo - Kenzo Amour Indian Holi (Limited Edition)
rated 5 of 5
OceansHeartbeat 6/30/2008 3:08:00 PM

Let me start by saying that I had no idea about this scent until I walked into this Sasa (a Hong Kong brand which sells beauty products at slightly lower prices) counter. It was the Hindi writing that caught my attention! *lol* Being of Indian descent, I was so excited! I sampled the fragrance on a strip and it was love at first whiff. It reminded me of my childhood and random things I'd loved when I'd visited India. I'm terrible at describing notes and such, but it's a beautiful floral and musk scent with a dry-down of incense which is just enchanting. Pure magic. Of course, I'm glad it worked with my body chemistry too!

Lip Gloss -Yves Saint Laurent - golden gloss 2
rated 1 of 5
OceansHeartbeat 6/30/2008 3:01:00 PM

I must be the only reviewer giving such a low rating. But seriously, the only good thing about this lip gloss was its luxurious packaging. It was alright when I swatched it on the back of my hand at the counter. But...I late realised it's just not worth it. The biter taste is horrible (the fragrance was great at first, very melon-y), there is way too much shimmer and last but not least, this isn't even an MLBB colour! It's just waaay too brown/muddy on my pigmented lips. Okay, so my lips are light plum coloured and I am neutral to cool toned, so I am thinking this shade might be too warm for me? I don't know, but I wouldn't even buy it if it's in another colour. Too gritty/shimmery and bitter to justify the high price!!! Next time I'll know better than to blindly follow high ratings on MUA and buy something. :(
