Being very fair, I expected that the Light sample I tried might be a bit too dark. I did not, however, expect it to turn a vibrant orange so dark that the adjoining uncovered skin looked positively white in comparison. And when I say orange, I don't mean orangey or orangish, I mean ORANGE...if I were looking to dress up as a Gene WIlder-era Oompa Loompa, it would be just the thing. Since that wasn't on the agenda for my Friday, I immediately washed it off. I can't say how well it lives up to its advertised claims, but I do think L'Oreal needs to skip the 'magic' and just formulate some standard shades.

Shampoo -Clairol - Herbal Essences Hello Hydration Moisturizing Shampoo

I love the conditioner, but this shampoo over cleans my hair. It winds up feeling 'squeaky' when wet and being staticky & flyaway at the crown when dry, all of which indicates that too many of the natural oils have been stripped away.

Cleansers -Garnier - Moisture Rescue Fresh Cleansing Foam

I love the associated moisturizer and had a $1 off coupon, so I decided to give this cleanser a try. It worked perfectly well and didn't leave my skin overly tight, but they were extremely serious when they put 'avoid eye area' on the label. The stinging was bad, bad, BAD, and rinsing repeatedly with water didn't help...I had to wash my lids and lashes with Purity Made Simple to get it to stop.

Gels/Soaps -Olay - Olay Total Effects Deep Penetrating Moisture Body Wash

This body wash doesn't seem to do anything extraordinary - it moisturizes my skin, but so do plenty of others - and it has an unpleasant sort of 'dirty hair' smell beneath the more obvious fragrance.

This literally smelled like dirt on my skin for the first hour or so, but eventually settled down to a pretty yummy chocolate scent. I might consider buying the full size, despite the wait for the fragrance to develop, except it also had some sort of strange reaction with my body chemistry and turned a bruised purple color.

I tried the Sterling emulsion first and, while I liked it, it seemed too heavy for my skin. This one absorbed better but, having already used the other version for a few weeks, I didn't see much difference in my skin. The Sapphire did somewhat reduce the semi-permanent pore congestion I experience around my nasal and chin creases, but that was really the only difference I saw. Also, I'm not sure whether I lost the 'glow' I experienced with the Sterling or just became accustomed to it, but my skin doesn't seem as bright with the Sapphire.

Of the multitudes I've tried, this is my favorite eye cream. It moisturizes well and all but obliterates the fine lines starting around my eyes, leaving the skin smooth and firm. I don't know if it does anything for puffiness or circles, as I generally don't experience the former and the latter is pretty much unavoidable when you're as fair as I am. One lippie off for the terrible packaging. I hate jars for the likelihood of degrading/contaminating the the product every time the lid comes off. Because of this, I buy several samples at a time rather than purchasing the full-size jar, which ends up costing more overall.

At 39, my skin doesn't have a lot of visible aging, so I can't say that this product took five years off, as the commercials suggest. It did noticeably improve the texture and brightness of my skin, which is absolutely fantastic...it brought back my 'glow.' I think this particular formulation may have been too heavy for my skin, as it always left a sticky residue no matter how lightly I applied and, in the second week, I began breaking out in a way that was not usual. Breakouts aside, I loved the overall look of my skin, so I'm going to give the Sapphire formulation a try. I do really wish it came in a pump rather than a jar.

This works well for my long, straight hair, leaving it silky, shiny, and almost tangle-free. The problem for me is the smell. It's lovely (if a bit strong) when I first put it in but as the day progresses, my hair begins to take on a distinctly fishy odor. I'm aware that this may just be the way the fragrance reacts to my personal body chemistry but it is DISGUSTING. Performance-wise, this would be a 4.5/5.0 for me, but I just can't take the smell.

I really like the texture of the included pads - they exfoliate well without overdoing it - but the infused cleanser leaves my skin dry and tight, so I can't use it as much as I might otherwise.

I'm not usually a big Pantene fan - it's OK, nothing special - but I'm loving this shampoo/conditioner set. I originally bought it because the cassia essence supposedly helps with breakage, which my nearly waist-length hair definitely has its fair share of. What I found is that, after 2 weeks of usage, my hair has become softer and silkier, with less tendency to tangle. As a bonus, it also seems to stay clean longer, so the shampoo may be 'balancing' my slightly oily scalp. Good stuff.

I originally bought it because the cassia essence supposedly helps with breakage, which my nearly waist-length hair definitely has its fair share of. What I found is that, after 2 weeks of usage, my hair has become softer and silkier, with less tendency to tangle. This stuff was a nightmare for my hair. The first time I used it, it left my hair feeling rough - like the cuticle had been opened and not sleeked back down - and incredibly tangle-prone. I decided to give it another try a few weeks later, just to be sure before I threw it out. This time, I applied a larger amount of the product, combed it through, and put my hair in a plastic shower cap for the duration of my shower. When I finished everything else, I tried to rinse the product out. And tried and tried. I couldn't get it all out, despite standing under the water until it ran cold, and was left with a head of hair that was partially rough and partially slimy...and the slimy parts quickly became sticky as my hair dried. For 24 hours, my hair was basically a dried out matted mess, and no amount of brushing/combing/application of detangler would help. I normally only shampoo my hair every other day, but I washed it again the next morning and then slathered on a big dose of my normal conditioner. That helped, but it took a week of shampooing/conditioning to get my hair back to normal, and my ends NEVER recovered...I had to have them trimmed, despite a haircut just a few weeks before my first application of this supposed 'conditioner.' Bad, bad, bad, bad, bad.

I love this! It makes me smell like a sexy cookie and is long-lasting without being overpowering. I don't want to be told that my perfume smells good, just that I do, so the subtlety of this one is perfect.
