Skincare - Face -TheFACEShop - Pure Water Facial Mist - Jeju Marine
OHNOSOPHiE 6/15/2013 10:29:00 PM
So I'm a Korean drama freak. I watch so many of those shows and on one of the shows, women were carrying around bottles of mist, to spray on their face - to keep moisturized. At first, I thought it was stupid. The idea is similar to the Evian facial mist that make up artists today use all the time. But I was walking around THEFACESHOP one day and this bottle was $8 so I decided to give it a try since there are days where I would be doing work somewhere and my skin would feel very tight - due to the lack of moisture in the air, especially in the office during the winters. Anyway, the idea of keeping moisturizer in my desk/bag was a turn-off since it would mess up my makeup and I'd have to reapply so this seemed to be the most logical - to carry around a mist. This bottle is slim and small, easily fits into my clutch. The smell is amazing and it keeps my face dewy and moisturized without ruining my makeup (best part). I can whip it out in the bathroom, spritz 1-2 times on my face and my skin would stay hydrated all day. I believe this comes in 2 other scents/ingredients. I didn't try the others since I'm hooked on this one anyway and will repurchase. This would be great to use after a long flight or any time your face needs a refresher. Get it.
Once I discovered THEFACESHOP, I couldn't go back to drugstore/American brands. Their line is perfect for my Asian skin and this product is one of my faves. It's VERY light but keep my skin so hydrated. I really love using this in the summertime because there's no greasy feeling - which I hate. It's a sheer-ish white cream with a very faint, pleasant smell. I hate those overpowering moisturizers - especially when they go on the face. It comes in a glass-like bottle, so it's really heavy. But the pump is very useful. I use about 2 pumps in the morning and at night and pat it all over my face. I've been using this for about 3 months now and my skin is smoother and there is no breakouts. I have sensitive skin too so I was skeptical about trying a new product. I've been a HUGE fan of Olay moisturizers for so long and it's only $8 at drugstores but it always comes off too greasy - even the oil free one. So after using Arsainte Eco-Therapy (80% organic ingredients!), I can't go back - even if the price is 3x what I paid for Olay ($25). It's worth it and it lasts forever so far. I still have more than half the bottle left!
I was skeptical since I found most toners drying for my skin so I usually skip this step. But after talking to the store associate about which would be best for my skin (usually dry during the year but combination in the summer time), she recommended this to me. It's great. It looks oily in the bottle but it's not at all. I wash my face at night with THEFACESHOP Rice Brightening Cleanser than shake the Olive Essential Toner up real well and shake some onto my hands and pat onto my face. You CAN use a cotton pad/ball to apply, but I always feel like that's a waste of product. I put not more than a nickel-size amount on my palms, rub my palms together than pat on my face. It leaves my face SO moisturized without that sticky or greasy feeling. This is great for the summer since it's so light. I can't wait to see how it will play out during the dry winter months. I've been using for a week and no breakouts on my very sensitive skin. I just love how moisturizing it is, I don't need to top off with night cream - just some anti wrinkle around my eyes and done. The price isn't too bad either for THEFACESHOP brand, $17 for a bottle that doesn't even have a dent in it after a week of use. HIGHLY recommend.
I got the High Dive, which is the medium shade. I love the packaging. It comes in a simple compact mirror, no brush. I guess I'm just so used to using BE mineral foundation/bronzers, I forget the ease of compact mirrors. Anyway, I use the BE Flawless Face Brush with it. The color is very buildable and it's matte - no glitter crap. It looks a little intimidating at first because it is so dark but it really isnt. Anyway, I wanted to love this SO BAD, but after I started using it for about 3 weeks, my skin breaks out in pimples - only along my cheeks, t-zones where one would normally apply bronzer. So sad, but I guess I'll stick to BE Warmth.
Really like this mascara and I had low expectations as I'm not a fan of L'Oreal mascaras. My HG is Maybelline's Lash Stiletto because of the tapered brush and the way its designed so that it separates lashes. Telescopic takes some getting used to because the wand it very thin and flexible. Unlike some reviewers, I dont think it bent too much, just enough to be able to comb through lashes. I'm Asian so my lashes point straight down but with proper application (brush from root to tip and in 3 sections) I find that it helps my lashes curl up slightly without the use of an eyelash curler. The brush is also great for combing through preventing clumps and the actual mascara formula is thick so it really darkens lashes. I got Blackest Black and I have very dark lashes as is; makes my lashes stand out. Would buy again.
Lip Treatments -eos - Lip Balm Sphere - Lemon Drop SPF 15

There was all this hype about eos. Everyone I knew had one, even my 5 yr old nephew so I finally got one on drugstore.com, it was on sale for $2. I have the lemon drop one. LOVE the smell; very fresh and citrusy. I also really love the packaging, the fact that it's a twist off. It clicks when you twist it fully so you know that it's locked and wont fall off. Also the chapstick itself is hard wax, leaving your lips coated with a waxy feeling. Not sure it really moisturizes. It's also matte, so perfect for guys who do not want that girly sheen. Probably will not purchase again since it doesn't do anything for my lips. Cute shape/concept and smells great, that's about it
I was very attracted to the brush and the packaging. It comes in a rust gold tube and the brush is one of those thin plastic ones; reminiscent of the Cover Girl LashExact which really helps me to comb out my lashes as I apply mascara. However, this did nothing for my lashes. I have to combine with me HG mascara (Maybelline Lash Stiletto) and when combine, my lashes look MUCH longer and not clumpy at all. Boots Extreme Length does not hold curl at all.
Lotions/ Creams -Palmers - Cocoa Butter Formula with Vitamin E - Fragrance Free
OHNOSOPHiE 11/25/2012 9:27:00 PM
It comes in a pump, which I prefer in body lotions. I got it for under $6 on drugstore.com. I don;t know what the deal is with Palmers "fragrance free" but they are not fragrance free. The original Palmers might smell like peanut butter, which I detest, but the fragrance free version is no better. It has this smell which I cannot stand. However, this lotion's texture goes on very smoothly and does make my skin smooth without that greasy feeling. It feels good at first application, but in the long run, it does nothing for my skin which gets really cracked and dry in the winter time. I would not purchase this again.
Lotions/ Creams -Palmers - cocoa butter therapeutic hand cream

It's like a very greasy emollient. It doesnt absorb. Even though it says "fragrance free", it has this really gross smell.. When applying, I have to hold my hands out to avoid the smell. I don't know how to explain it, but if this is what fragrance free smells like, I'd rather have the cocoa butter smell. Luckily, this tube is small so I'm hoping to use this up in no time. It does nothing for my hands.
This review is for the Duri DRY AND SHINE SPEEDY TOP (brush N go). I was looking for an ultra shine top coat. A girl recommended this to me in a beauty supply store. I've never heard of Duri before and it looked cheap but the box description says that it finishes with a wet nail look (aka super shiny). Ok the brush and bottle are your standard nail polish brush/bottle. But the stuff is amazing. It does finish SUPER SHINY and lasts for days! It has UV shield so that your nails do not turn yellow in the sun (and I'm in the sun a lot). It also dries super fast, which is the 2nd best thing about this product. It runs about $7 - cheaper than Essie and OPI. It does the job, there's no foul/chemical smell and t keeps my color lasting 2wks! HIGHLY RECOMMEND
I LOVE the smell. It's like sweet almond but it's not overpowering. The texture when you rub it on is so nice. The consistency isn't oily/greasy at all. But this nothing. My hands are super dry after using this. I would not buy again even though I really love the smell. The lavender Aveeno (stress relief) works so much better
I read the reviews on MUA and decided I had to try it. I love that it doesnt flake, it comes off super easily with water, holds up well by the end of the day (little or no smudging), doesnt irritate my contact lenses and it very buildable. However, not a fan of the huge brush. This is comparable (maybe slightly better) than DiorShow. Except that it dries out SO fast. I was only able to get good use out of it for 3 weeks before i had to throw it out. That's the only reason I would repurchase.
I got this in D34/tan. Although the color is absolutely perfect for my skin, I couldnt justify using it at all. It made me break out like crazy. I love how it flawlessly matches up with my skin and gets rid of shine, but ridiculous how my skin reacts to it. The first time it happened, I switched back to BE mineral foundation (tan) and the breakout was gone. As soon as I started using this again, the breakouts happened. I believe this was $17 (?) - can't remember. The packaging seemed cheap also. The lid broke off easily and it was annoying opening and closing the compact. Also, there is a little makeup sponge in the bottom compartment. I didnt use this - I love using big fluffy brushes. A little pricey for a product that gives my skin a bad reaction. Based on the reviews, I'm not the only with this problem. Would definitely NOT repurchase.
Mascara -Christian Dior - DiorShow Mascara Waterproof

I REALLY DO NOT UNDERSTAND THE HYPE. I decided to buy this on a whim and big mistake. This stuff is horrible! I don't get it! It does nothing for me!I had to layer and still, no effect. Maybelline's Lash Stiletto WP lengthens and does not flake 100000x better than this crap. It's so expensive as well! I curled my lashes with me Shu curler, started layering and was still layering 5 min later, NOTHING! The brush is HUGE, but I actually didnt mind it as much as I thought I would. simple tube as well but the formula is just horrible. Would never ever ever repurchase ever again.
Lotions/ Creams -Burt's Bees - Almond Milk Beeswax Hand Creme

For a 2oz glass jar, it's a little pricey. What really got me to purchase this product was the smell from the jar. Smelled like sweet almonds. However, after I applied it and after it sits for a while, it smells like.. anise.. a licorice smell that made me want to vomit. I can only use this as night, as it is REALLY greasy. You need only a tiny bit and it moisturizes all the rough, dry spots. Wouldnt purchase again because of the smell. I like the consistency though.
