Moisturizers -Weleda - Skin Food

Now this is an interesting find. After reading some reviews, this sounded like it was like a fancy smelling vaseline with some added oils & goodness. As I'm a big fan of natural and nature inspired products/brands, why not try it out since it's pretty cheap. I had high expectations of it, since I ran out of handcream (got dermatitis that dries out my hands pretty bad). It would be put to the test as chapstick, dry feet moisturizer and rough spots aswell. While some reviews say it is a surprise find as nightcream, I won't be using it like that. This is an awesome handcream and very suitable for lips too. The only downside in the beginning was the smell. If you know the green sugus candy, it is exactly that smell. I wouldn't want to be smelling like that for long :D Consistency is really thick but smears out well once it warms. A little really does go a long way, but for me that's still 1cm of product for my hands. If you're tired of your old vaseline for your feet & rough spots, try this one out. Use on face at own risk, as it has a lot of possible pore clogging oils. Maybe those oils were exactly what you needed.. you decide.

Skincare - Face -Nuxe - MASQUE FRAIS HYDRATANT
rated 5 of 5

While I understand the need to wash off exfoliating masks, I never understood why you would have to wash off a hydrating one after 10 to 15 minutes. It sounds like a huge waste of this step in your skincare routine, as you're washing off all that goodness.. *enter nuxe* When I do my weekly mask to combat bumpy skin, clogged pores, ingrown hairs, acné, I like to start off with Dermalogica's gentle cream exfoliant. Now I don't wash this off after 15 minutes either, I like to get my money's worth out of it. Leave it on for 1 to 1,5 hours and just do whatever you do to pass time. Every now and then I massage the 'dried AHA/BHA mask' into my skin, and feel the clogged pores going away. When I feel satified with smoothness I wash it all off & pat dry. (I have even had this mask on for 3,5 hours cause i forgot i had it on. Didn't irritate a thing) Now for the Nuxe mask, this applies like a dream since I just had an exfoliating mask on my skin for like 1,5 hours. So I apply it all over in a thin layer and pat it in. It sinks in really fast and leaves a little film that goes away within minutes. This is all I do on 'masknight' as the mask is hydrating enough and will be used as nightcream too. Don't be fooled by thinking this would not be enough. If you were to apply your nightcream over this, you could end up with clogged pores as you overmoisturized. In the morning you will wake up with healthy, glowing and perfectly smooth skin! At least I do. That's what I call 'getting your money's worth' out of a not exactly cheap skincare product. Seriously, why waste all that goodness by washing it of after 15 min!

Bronzers -Dr. Hauschka - Translucent Bronze Concentrate
rated 2 of 5
Nyr 10/29/2009 12:08:00 PM

After reading plenty of reviews on this product, i decided to try it out myself. In wintertime my skin can get pretty pale and while i never had a problem with that.. you could start to see some veinst, redness & blue undereye sheen better as my slight summer tan faded.. I'm not a fan of the whole tanned look or any heavy work with bronzers, that's really not for me. This product isn't marketed as a bronzer but more as an enhancer of your 'pasty' complexion haha. Why not give it a go then? I did & while i tried my best to like it, this just isn't for me. Don't be set off by the stranger dark muddy color of the liquid inside the glass bottle. Once you actually apply it to your skin, it practically vanishes completely. My problem with this product is mainly the smell & the weird look it gives me. For me this product smells like bad candy, a very strong scent of bad candy that is. Now i'm not shy or a little scent & it usually goes away after a while. This sadly didn't as some friends asked me what the smell was. Even after 5 hours >< Second problem is the weird color my skin gets when i apply it. I did the test where i applied the product to half of my face, just to see how 'sheer' the color payoff would be. Safe to say there was NO color change at all. Maybe i used too little so i gradually applied more & let it dry/set after each application. After 2 layers i could see a difference, but it was just weird in color. I looked like i was a little tanned but also flushed like crazy. I have pale skin with slight yellow undertones, but this made me look dirty. Didn't like the smell & didn't get any 'healthy' glow from this. The pump also clogs after a while and gives too much product. I find it hard to measure what you want to come out. I'm sorry to say but i returned this product. Before buying ANY product, you should always check if there are samples or trial sizes first. Don't dive head first into buying a full size when you're not familiar with it.

Cleansers -Caudalie - Instant Foaming Cleanser

Freaking LOVE this! So easy & smells kinda nice in a non offensive way. 2 pumps on a dry face, let it sit for a few min. Wet hands, massage around the face with a bit of water & rinse completely. Never had a forehead so perfect without bumps, acné, clogged pores or anything! Also love the fact that you need almost NO water to make this work. So imo it's great for dry skin. Then again, this is really gentle so don't count on this as a heavy makeup remover. Then again, i don't use makeup :)

Skincare - Face -Jurlique - Daily Exfoliating Cream
rated 5 of 5
Nyr 6/1/2009 5:02:00 PM

Basic rule with this product: use only in the shower! Seriously save yourself the mess of using this over a sink, but you're welcome to try it that way. As far as problems go with 'too much product comes out at once'? It's a metal tube so squeez gently & wait. A lot more comes out then you think, but slower then you're used too. I squeeze once gently & wait for the flow to stop. Application is a breeze, considering this whole press & release motion is easy. If you're not familiar with it, watch youtube for it as it's hard to explain properly. I take my 2 cm of product and spread it in my hands, apply to damp skin in the shower. Just spread it out on your face, as if you're applying a mask. Gently pat it all over and when you feel the density of the product is getting loose, start gentle circular motions like a regular scrub. Some long strokes to end & you should FEEL the texture of your skin becoming smoother. Don't expect this 'scrub' to be like sandpaper, evening everything out in 1 try. It's gentle! So if you want a more gritty feel for your scrubbing routine, you should try another scrub.. End with some cold water & pat dry. I finish with Herbal Recovery Gel all over, as this scrub is not drying at all. It's even a little moisturizing for me, with the honey in it i think. The smell is special the first time, but as with all Jurlique products. You'll hate/love it, but i don't count this smell as offensive. Very nice gentle scrub for people with a little extra cash & wanting to go more natural in skincare Buy again? HG HELL YES!

Lotions/ Creams -Nuxe - Huile Prodigieuse (Multipurpose dry oil)
rated 5 of 5
Nyr 5/17/2009 2:20:00 PM

A perfect lightweight oil to moisturize everything with. I use it on my hair sometimes for a healthy glow, same thing for my skin as it gives a light tan look with shimmer. It smells like heaven but it takes that some people won't like the smell. After a shower I spray a few times in my hands & rub it on my skin. Sinks in pretty fast and leaves everything smooth to the touch & smelling great. Not the cheapest but well worth the money. I have my bottle for over a year now and not even halfway. You really don't need much.

Moisturizers -Jurlique - Calendula Cream
rated 5 of 5
Nyr 3/28/2009 5:48:00 PM

I LOVE this product. This is the one thing that has made my skin go back to a nice pearly light color. It's obviously more healthy then before. I had some discoloration, rougher facial skin & breakouts. After toning all my previous skincare steps down to just this as my main moisturizer, i've never looked better. I have combination skin, oily T zone that gets dehydrated easy, occasional breakouts & clogged pores. On top of all that, it's sensitive.. After applying, it might look a bit like a sheen on oily type skin, but a nice sunscreen over it in the morning, solves that problem. HG in my book, especially since you need so little of it to have an effect. Too bad it's kinda hard to get the last bit out of the tube. Wake up to healthier & glowing skin ;)

Lip Treatments -Neutrogena - Lip Moisturizer
rated 5 of 5

I use this chapstick all year round. It has spf 15 (wouldn't mind it being higher) and glides on smooth. I had cheaper versions of chapstick but i was going through them like crazy. You always had to use much, and that's not the case with this one. I reapply perhaps 4 times a day during the wintertime! I bought 4 of these 1,5 years ago. I still have 1,5 left :) it really does last longer then cheaper stuff. No chapped lips for me, ever!

Lotions/ Creams -Neutrogena - Norwegian Formula Hand Cream

The HG for my hands. When under loads of stress i get a form of excema. It dries out my skin pretty badly, but after using this it goes away really fast. It's perfect to use at night! Try it and wake up with the softest hands ever ^^

Moisturizers -Vaseline - Petroleum Jelly
rated 4 of 5
Nyr 12/9/2008 1:36:00 PM

This is only good for hands and feet. Using this on your lips only at night then, it sucks the moisture out of your lips during the day. No spf in it and it just tastes badly :) But it does work magic on my hands with gloves during the night. Same with feet & socks. It also lasts AGES!

Lotions/ Creams -Nivea - Nivea Creme
rated 3 of 5
Nyr 12/9/2008 1:30:00 PM

When I use this stuff, i'm not able to put on clothing anytime soon. It seals the skin off nicely but it does take quite some time to sink in completely. Otherwise you get that sticky feeling all over, when you get dressed. I hate that feeling! I want to slather something on fast after a shower, not sit around and wait for it to go away. It's quite thick so i used it for hands and feet aswell. It's not that great for me, as there are better products for the same use. I do get the multi use of this cream, but i'm not exactly going to use this on everything.. It does last AGES!

Moisturizers -Dermalogica - Active Moist
rated 4 of 5
Nyr 12/9/2008 1:20:00 PM

This moisturizer was great at first, but it's no good when it gets colder. For light moisture this is excellent, a fast absorbing formula that sinks in completely. No residue or anything and a clean, fresh citruslike smell. Shinefree for about 6 to 7 hours. The downside is the consistency of the product in a tube. There's always some excess and it's a waste for something this expensive. You'll also need more then a peasize if you want to feel like your skin had enough of it. There's also no SPF in it, but that's what those boosters they sell are for apparently.. too bad. Overall pretty good but not perfect. Would buy again if i feel like spending more then usual.

Skincare - Face -Clinique - 3 Step System
rated 1 of 5
Nyr 12/8/2008 5:16:00 PM

This whole 3 step system made my skin go crazy after a while. Worked fine at first, considering I had thick skin that wasn't used to any products. Following the system was a big mistake. Cleanser is too drying, scruffing lotion makes it even worse.. and then we get a moisturizer that can't do the trick of balancing out the created skin.. Get a milder cleanser and just skip the lotion..

Toners -Clinique - Clarifying Lotion #2
rated 2 of 5
Nyr 12/8/2008 5:13:00 PM

Burns like hell after shaving, very drying and made me break out. Not a winner in my book.. I don't even see why you would need an alcohol based toner, unless you want dry and irritated skin.

Moisturizers -Clinique - Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel
rated 5 of 5
Nyr 12/8/2008 5:09:00 PM

Very good for oily or combination skins that need light moisture. Lasts pretty long and goes on smooth. This is my HG moisturizer in the summer, in wintertime it's too light. Too bad it doesn't have spf in it but without it's easy to have 1 moisturizer for day and night :)
