Lipstick -L'Oreal - Colour Riche Lipstick -- Volcanic
NoraRebecca 11/19/2007 12:03:00 AM
I really like the colour of this lipstick, it's a perfect orangey-red. I have slightly pale skin with yellow undertones, brown eyes and hair. The colour is really flattering and I use it lightly to get just a stained effect. However the formula kind of sucks, it dries out my lips a lot.
My coworker and I both received samples of this product. It did nothing for me (didnt feel too clean), but it turned her mouth into one big giant canker sore, the inside was *covered* with lesions from it. She had to be prescribed steroid cream. May be an independent allergy but thought I'd post anyhow.
Great product. This worked for both my mother and me, which is saying lots because she has above shoulder very frizzy, thick hair, and mine is long, straight, and sort of fine. It was light enough not to weigh either down, but my ends looked nourished, it was all shiny and soft but not *too* soft (you finer haired gals know what I mean, like flat and unable to hold a style). My mother's hair looked great too, it still had volume all around but I could see actual curly defined spirals instead of just a mass of frizz. I am going to try this in conjunction with kerastase's volumizing line for myself, and see how it goes! The only downside to this is that this brand is soooo darn expensive!!!
This one may be 'it' for me. A beautiful fragrance that is sexy but also mysterious, complex and classy. Sweet, comforting, deep and dark. I thought of this mostly as a nighttime fragrance at first but have taken to wearing a bit during the day too. I also get tons of compliments on it. Strangers like it, men like it, friends like it, family likes it, I get asked about it often. I think this is one of those fragrances that either works with your chemistry or doesnt.
Skincare - Body -Cake Beauty - Milkmade Velveteen Hand Cream

Not my favourite hand cream. I love cake's scents, usually, but this one was sort of cloying. I was expecting a frosting sort of smell and it's kinda like vanilla with cherry cough medicine. It isn't greasy, but I don't like the feel; sort of dirty feeling, not soft. Maybe I just got a bad bottle.
Lip Gloss -Christian Dior - Dior Addict Plastic Gloss- Capricious Pink 002
NoraRebecca 2/23/2006 3:28:00 PM
The swatch on Sephora for this product is so off. It looks like a bright sheer watermelon on the site. I bought this in person and it's beautiful on, very flattering. It's a blue tone medium pale pink, in the same family as another favourite of mine, 'pink sapphire' by body and soul. It doesnt reflect blue or anything like UD's asphyxia, just a beautiful not too-light not too-deep pink, I can see this mostly on brunettes with medium skintone such as myself. As usual with dior glosses, the packaging is beautiful. Staying power is above average.
Beautiful, sexy, seductive scent. I am not good at picking out notes, but it is quite spicy, smoky and musky, yet floral and feminine as well. I agree with the reviewer below in that it is a future classic. I see this on a confident, sexy, grown woman in a little black dress. I wear this when I want to feel empowered yet feminine, or seductive.
Moisturizers -L'Occitane - Immortelle Precious Crème
NoraRebecca 7/31/2005 9:28:00 PM
Not great. I used this in conjunction with the line's 'elixir' and broke out around my chin/mouth area. It also seemed to just sit on my skin and not really moisturize, because when I washed it off in the morning, my skin actually felt quite dry. Strange because it was a very thickly textured cream. Anyhow, there are many better products out there; mediocre at best.
Gels/Soaps -Laura Mercier - Tarte au Citron body wash
NoraRebecca 7/31/2005 9:25:00 PM
Fabulous quality, as with all Laura Mercier bath and body products. My favourite line in this catagory, for sure! Tarte au Citron is my first body wash from LM. I bought the classic creme brulee honey bath and received some tarte au citron body wash as a sample. I couldn't stop sniffing it every 5 minutes, so I had to go out and buy some! Smells just like a sweet, yummy lemon-y dessert like lemon merangue (sp?) or tart from a great bakery. Sometimes I'm not in the mood for the scent, but most of the time I love it, and I'm not a big citrus-scent person. It also lathers amazingly, feels soft, and a little goes a long way. I have been using it almost daily for about 3 mos. and it's only about a quarter finished. Just for that, I'd say it's well worth the semi-high price.
Highlighters -Bobbi Brown - Shimmer Brick Shimmerbrick Compact in Bronze
NoraRebecca 5/30/2005 5:42:00 PM
Beautiful set! 5 stripes of color: whitish gold, peach-bronze, true gold-copper bronze, medium-pink-bronze, and deep bronze brown. Can be used individually or swirled together. I like to layer individual colors on my eyes and use the mix on my cheeks, overall it is lovely for a natural, lit from within look. No overt glitter here. I got this product a little late, but I'm happy I did, and it's become a staple.
Moisturizers -Shiseido - The Skincare Night Moisture Recharge Enriched
NoraRebecca 5/15/2005 7:54:00 PM
I love this moisturizer, it's close to an HG for me. It's labeled as an enriched night moisturizer but it's so light that it's fine for daytime too. Very smoothing, and made my skin clear and glowing. Love it!
I cannot decide if this product works for me or not. Once, I used it for a week straight and my skin improved, possibly due to this product, or maybe not. It doesn't do much when I use it once in awhile, so maybe it requires daily use. I don't enjoy the scent very much but it isn't that bad either. Overall, not terrible impressed but not 100% disappointed.
Fragrances -Thierry Mugler - Angel Garden of Stars Lily Eau de Parfum
NoraRebecca 5/15/2005 7:49:00 PM
Beautiful! Similar to the original "Angel" but somehow more wearable, and with an injection of my favourite flower: Lily. It is very true to the original, warm scent, but with the full-bodied, warm, aromatic Lily added. A beautiful addition to my collection, and I've been wearing it nonstop.
Beautiful sheer pink. I'd describe it as a light, baby-ish pink, but not in a opaque or garish way...it's very sheer and a with a tint of warmth. Very pretty and natural. Smooth application, even texture, and great staying power. A winner. Do not expect this to be one of those colours that is paler than caucasian skin or opaque, however.
Lip Treatments -Smith's Rosebud Salve - Smith's Rosebud Salve

Love this. Gives long lasting moisture, and the package and scent are very old fashioned-glam.
