Moisturizers -Philosophy - Hope in a Jar - for all skin types
Noboho 1/11/2013 5:43:00 PM
I was terrified to try this! I've read so many reviews stating that this moisturizer broke people out. I even recall a trip to a Sephora in Connecticut with my sister. I picked a jar of this up and she said "the salesgirl said that broke her out!" I have experienced some irritating breakouts in the past due to moisturizers I tried. I adore the philosophy brand. Their marketing is perfect. For Christmas, my sister-in-law bought me a Philosophy Skincare set that included Hope in a Jar, Purity Cleanser, Eye Hope eye cream, and a peel. I would have normally been super cautious and would have spent a week just testing this out on a small area of my skin. For some reason I thought "oh, what the hell" and I proceeded to slather this on all over my face. I have been slathering this cream all over my face ever since and I LOVE it! I haven't experienced a breakout and as a matter of fact my skin looks amazing! It looks better than it's looked in quite a while. The texture is light and non-greasy. I would actually like it if it were a bit richer, but it moisturizes beautifully regardless. Much has been said about the scent. I think it smells clean, very, very clean. It's a lavendery-citrus scent that I don't personally find to be as heavy as others have remarked. My skin stays smooth and soft throughout the night with Hope in a Jar on. Thank goodness I got this as a gift, because I was truly scared to try it, even though those QVC presentations make it sound miraculous! I would purchase this; I'm just not sure that I will. Nearly $40 for a 2 oz. jar is a bit steep for me at the moment. I'm going to keep using the rest of my jar and whether or not I purchase another one will be contingent upon how much deeper in love I fall with it. Overall, I suggest everyone should at least give this cream a chance. Minus one lippy for price, but BEAUTIFUL product.
I'm completely enamored with this mascara! I've tried many different ones and I've found that L'oreal makes my favorites. I had been using voluminous millions and voluminous millions false fiber lashes but Telescopic is just extraordinary. It lengthens like a dream! I am always looking for a fantastic lengthening mascara because my lashes are naturally quite curly and don't look very long. I thought I found an hg in maybelline's old lash stylist, which had a very similar wand to Telescopic, but was discontinued : ( . I finally tried this in Blackest Black and I'm happier with it than any other mascara I've ever tried in my life. It combs through my lashes smoothly. It makes me look like I'm wearing falsies! And it washes off very well and without hassle, something I couldn't say about maybelline's lash stylist. Frankly, I've never seen my eyelashes look this long and gorgeous. My only regret is that I went so many years without trying this. I have to give credit where credit is due; my favorite French actress, Roxane Mesquida says she uses this and is very happy with it and I couldn't agree more! Once I read a beauty interview she had done where she praised this mascara, I knew I had to try it! Now that I have, I can't see myself using anything else.
Lip Treatments -Mary Kay - Satin Lips mask and balm
Noboho 11/3/2012 9:15:00 AM
A friend of mine gave me a couple of these as a gift and since then, I've used it twice. I can really see a difference in the softness of my lips! They aren't peeling and they don't get dry the way they did before I started using this! I was taken aback by how odd it felt the first time I used it. I had never put a mask on my lips, let alone heard of "lip masks." I love that this also contains little particles for exfoliation! That's a very nice touch. This is my first experience with Mary Kay and I would be lying if I said it didn't make me curious about the rest of the line. I remember my mother using Mary Kay when I was a little girl and whenever I use this it brings back fond memories of her light pink Mary Kay compacts and lipstick tubes on our bathroom countertop all those years ago :) .
Fragrances -Bath and Body Works - Vanilla Bean Noel Body Splash
Noboho 11/3/2012 9:00:00 AM
This smells divine! It has that gloriously gourmand vanilla scent that seems like a concoction of pure vanilla, marshmallows, and ice cream! It is a rather light formulation though, so I find it best to spray it mostly on my clothes. That way, the scent just lasts and lasts! I spritzed some on last night just as I got out of the shower and was getting ready for bed and I can still smell it this morning! It smells just like the fragrance "Tihota" by Indult. That is supposedly the best vanilla gourmand scent ever made and it sold for $300. To my nose, Vanilla Bean Noel is the lighter, softer version of that super luxurious perfume.
Lotions/ Creams -Bath and Body Works - Vanilla Bean Noel Body Cream
Noboho 11/2/2012 10:26:00 PM
I just purchased this today and it's a product I've been hearing about for years. I am a total vanilla girl and yet I never got my hands on the Vanilla Bean Noel line until now. I adore the scent; really, I do. It's soft and a perfectly girly vanilla. The consistency of the triple moisture cream is super thick yet it isn't greasy. It spreads on beautifully and quickly. There's no need to spend an eternity trying to rub it into your skin. I layered this with the VBN fragrance mist and I smell delicious! My skin feels really softened and touchable at the moment. So far VBN made an excellent first impression, but I want to see if I fall further in love with it. If I do, I will try to pick up more from the rest of the line.
Fragrances -Victoria's Secret - Coconut Passion EDT
Noboho 7/13/2012 9:33:00 PM
This scent is sooo delicious! I love coconut and I love vanilla even more! So this product is perfect for me. It's summer, which means I'm assiduously avoiding eau de parfums. Too heavy and too cloying this time of year. I find the lasting power of this eau de toilette to be very good. I can still smell it after four hours. Men will love this on you. It's a very alluring gourmand fragrance.
This is the most gorgeous blue nail polish I've ever worn and I own a lot of blue polishes! I now officially love this better than OPI Russian Navy. Essie made one like this...something Azure, that I thought was pretty and then regretted not buying. The color is unlike anything I've ever seen! It's not dark and it's not light, just the perfect blend. It really pops, yet it isn't a neon. It wears super well, yet it isn't high-end. Even my mother, who usually detests nail polish that isn't pink or red or nude commented on how pretty the color is. I was at a Sally's Beauty Supply store yesterday and my eyes went straight to this nail polish! I knew the instant I saw it that I had to have it. I'm blown away by the quality of these nail polishes. They're so teeny tiny, yet the formula is perfect and I actually quite like the miniature size. Sometimes, particularly with really bold colors, I get the feeling I'll never finish the entire bottle of nail polish. These mini Sally Girl polishes allow you to use the colors you wouldn't wear regularly and not fret about using a pricy bottle of nail polish only once or twice. I'm going to get back-ups of this for sure!
Lip Gloss -C.O. Bigelow - Lemon & Pomegranate Lip Cream
Noboho 7/7/2012 10:08:00 PM
I really love this product! It smells fantastic and it moisturizes my lips like a dream! My lips chap so easily and once I put this on my lips have been SUPER soft and pillowy. It tastes nice and sweet, which I appreciate. Taste is always a factor in whether I'll purchase something again, and this product is something I'll continue to buy. It gives a pretty high shine, but I think that just makes my lips look juicy! It smells sweet citrusy-fresh and I can't get over how soft my lips are right now!!
This is one of the most gorgeously girly nail polishes I've ever used! I've been lemming over this color for a year and I finally got around to getting it! It's a pretty, bubblegum pink. Very Barbie, which I love. I am VERY impressed with the formula. It glides across nails really well and looks good even with just one coat, but I use two. It dries semi-glossy but a great top coat will really make this color stand out! I have to get back-ups. I own an obscene amount of pink nail polishes, none of which I've bought more than once because there are soooo many pinks out there. But this one is super special! I love having it on.
Makeup Brushes -Ecotools - Alicia Silverstone 5-piece Brush Set
Noboho 6/22/2012 10:28:00 PM
I was super excited to get this. I had been lemming over a few different brush sets and ultimately chose to buy this one because I had purchased the Ecotools Bronzer Brush which I ADORE and hoped I would adore these too. They're made very well, however I found the powder brush and blush brush in this set to be much too small. The bristles were NOT compact enough for my taste. It affects the application. I would suggest investing in the full- sized individually sold brushes. You will find that those blend much better. These may be okay for touch ups when traveling or throughout the day, but I can't use these for my full-blown morning makeup ritual. The bag they come in is a very good size. It will fit a lot of makeup but the color is liable to get dirty. I hate dirty looking makeup bags! Ick! So I don't carry it in my purse, but I use it for extras of things at home. I'm not at all unhappy with this set/bag, I'm simply not head over heels in love.
This is the makeup brush I have the MOST affection for. I bought it nearly a year ago and I'm still very much in love with it! The bristles are faux of course and unbelievably soft! It feels like heaven gliding across your face. The feel is comparable to high end brushed that go for 3 to 4 times the price of this. I can really get behind this brand's philosophy, what they stand for, and the sustainable materials they use to make their brushes. My bronzer goes on so beautifully with this and it blends color into my face perfectly! Sometimes I use it even for powder, it feels that good!
Top/Base Coats -Sally Hansen - Double Duty Base & Top Coat
Noboho 6/22/2012 2:08:00 PM
This product ended my search for the ultimate base and top coat! I had used so many in the past and probably Orly's Won't Chip for the longest. I eventually became so frustrated with how thick, goopy and unusable Orly Won't Chip becomes once you get half way through the bottle, that I gave it up completely. This product I've been using and repurchasing for well over a year now and I am so happy with it! It keeps my polish on for a loooong time. It's wonderful and time saving to not have to use two seperate products. Chipping RARELY happens for me when I have this on and the formula stays smooth and usable 'til the very last drop. Best of all, it gives the sexiest, shiniest, glossy looking nails and I will use this as long as they make it!
I wanted to love this so badly. Perhaps because I'm a fan of the original Voluminous Millions mascara and I was really sucked in by the concept. False Fibers? I'll look like I'm wearing falsies? Sold! I scooped this up at Ulta in the shade "Blackest Brown". It goes on decently. The formula is thick but I didn't have any clumping issues. The wand is quite different from the original Voluminous Millions. It's shaped like a cone but with a flatter top. I am able to achieve pretty good lengthening but hardly anything in the way of volume. I want a mascara that can give me both! This looks good but doesn't give me that WOW factor I long to achieve with my lashes. It's not too difficult to remove which is a huge plus. Some mascaras require tons of effort to remove and this wasn't one of them for me. The packaging is aesthetically pleasing but shaped so strangely. It has odd points on it that I can see myself pricking my hand on as I reach for it in my makeup bag. I adore the gold because it reminds me of YSL, but the shape should be altered. Overall, I don't hate it. I simply find the the original Voluminous Millions to be much better.
This is part of Milani's Neon Nail Polish collection and I love it! It's actually my first Milani nail polish. I fell madly in love with their baked blushes and Bronzers and figured that if their polishes are half as pleasing to me as their other products, I'm really going to like them. I think this neon pink looks stunning. It wears fairly well and chipping was rather minimal. As with most neon polishes, this dries matte. I prefer to use a super shiny top coat to take care of that as I'm ALL about sexy, glossy nails! For summer you have too go bold with your nails! I am actually so happy with this that I will be buying more colors from Milani very soon. There is a neon yellow/green in the collection that I've been lemming over, so that'll be next on my hitlist.
I'M. IN. LOVE. I had sworn off blush on more than one occasion in my makeup-obsessed life. For a long time I had been wearing skin luminizers and bronzers exclusively because every blush I thought I would love, I eventually grew tired of very quickly. It's happened too many times, most recently with Cargo's Echo Beach. Then I fell in love with Laura Gellar's baked beauty products last summer which made me quite curious about what other baked blushes were out there. That's when I heard about the Milani baked line and now I know I've found my blush soulmate!! Milani Baked Blushes are the best blushes period. This one is my favorite! Rose D'oro gives me the most glowy, corally, golden-pink cheeks I've ever had. I feel gorgeous when I have it on! The gold veining in all their blushes is really the key to what makes them look so fantastic. I can no longer live without this. I have to buy back-ups because the thought of not having this in my arsenal would be a nightmare. The packaging looks fantastic with the gold. Very YSL, but it does feel flimsy. I really don't mind that because it's the product inside that I care about and the product inside is perfection. It goes on smooth and suits my warm skin tone amazingly well! The price is a dream, Only $8! That's a fraction of what a Laura Gellar will cost you. I HIGHLY recommend this to anyone looking for a blush. Baked is the way to go.
