Cleansers -Avene - Cleanance soapless gel cleanser for oily skin
NikkiBee 9/1/2012 3:57:00 PM
This gel cleanser was recommended to me by a sales rep at the pharmacy for my adult acne prone skin. I also use the Johnson and Johnson Clean and Clear pump dispensed cleanser for sensitive skin and I find that the Avene cleanser does not strip all of the natural oils from my face or leave it feeling tight so it's a good morning cleanser whereas the Clean and Clear cleanser that I use is better for taking off heavy sun screen. I really like the packaging of the cleanser. It's a bottle with a twist top with a hole in it that you twist open and close so it's good for traveling for your checked luggage. The Avene cleanser is not oil free, it has pumpkin seed oil, but this did not cause me to break out.
This blush is easy enough to apply with fingers but the compact is large enough so that if you wanted to take a stubby kabuki brush and gently tap some creme onto it you'll get a really nice blended glow when you brush it on your cheeks. I played it safe and bought one of the lighter shades, apricot for my fair skin because I wasn't sure how it would turn out, but it would be fun to try something bolder. The compact is in a frosted plastic, pretty and actually quite similar to the old Club Monaco makeup packaging (coincidence, Joe Mimran?).
The self-tanner works, but like others have said already, it's not a broad spectrum sunblock so points off for that. You still have to exfoliate your skin to avoid streaks even though it's gradual. I didn't really like the smell, but I have yet to find a self-tanner with a smell that I can stand anyway. Also, it made my face super shiny.
I ordered this online from Sephora. You don't really get a choice on the design this way but mine came with a 40s style pin-up girl pattern. Super-cute, I really like this shower cap, it's got a plastic lining and a satiny pink outer cover with the design printed on it.
I've been using MAC concealers for years, alternating between the studio finish and the select cover up depending on my skin. I really like the compact packaging, and the ability to custom blend shades and use different concealer shades for different facial areas. I'm about half way through using my palette, and I've just found out that this palette was a limited edition :( I hope they bring it back!
Lip Gloss -Victoria's Secret - Beauty Rush Gloss -all

I chose the clear mint flavoured one and I'm pretty happy with it. It's a great breath freshener on-the-go and it comes in a hygienic tube, but it's quite slick and goopy. Good for applying with a lipstick if you want to make your lipstick a bit shinier.
Eyeliner -Make Up For Ever - Waterproof EyePencil in Turquoise 7L

This eye liner has the best staying power I have ever seen in pencil form. It seriously lasts all day and it is totally waterproof, which is why you have to use a good eye makeup remover to take it off. This nice turquoise colour looks great with glowing tan skin and a neutral lip - a great simple beach look for summer.
I got a sample of Diorshow Mascara from Sephora. After hearing so much hype about the product I had to try it for myself! The packaging is chicly decorated with the Dior logo pattern and the brush is probably the biggest mascara wand I have ever seen - now I know why people rave that you only need one swipe of Diorshow to make your lashes look good. I was also pleasantly surprised that this mascara didn't smudge on me, despite it not being a waterproof mascara, and I liked how it was easy to wash off with just soap and water. I think I've found a winner! The only caveat may be the price, although it is rather expensive compared to the drug store brands I normally buy, I most likely will buy this after I finish with the sample.
I like how the lip conditioner has SPF 15 and colour that you can build up from sheer to opaque. The downsides are that it comes in a jar, so it can be a little messy/unhygienic to apply on-the-go with your finger, and it's a little pricey. I've tried it in Petting Pink and Gentle Coral and I love both of these colours and I plan to try the beige one next!
This is a great no-fuss neutral lipstick for me. A brownish, mauve colour, I can wear this lipstick with a bare face if I want to feel put together. Since it is a satin/matte lipstick, you might want to exfoliate and put on a little lip balm before swiping this on unless you like that caked on flaky lipstick look.
Eye Shadow -Victoria's Secret - Beauty Rush Luminous Shadow - After Midnight

The colour is a beautiful metallic indigo, but the application is a complete mess. The built in applicator is nice and very convenient but the powder tends to fall under your eye and on your cheeks when you apply it directly to your eyes from the jar because there is so much excess powder on the applicator. It may help to gently tap the excess powder off before you apply the sponge to your eye, or to use your own tiny eye shadow brush and dip it in the opening of the eye shadow jar.
Hair Styling Tools -T3 - Tourmaline Wet to Dry Straightening Iron
NikkiBee 6/1/2008 12:28:00 AM
This product is great for all hair types but if your hair only has a slight wave in it like mine does at times, you should try to keep it on the lower heat level settings. Also it's recommended in the instruction booklet that if you're planning to straighten your hair while wet, that you should blow dry your roots first. This iron works on both wet and dry hair, but on wet hair you may be required to run it through you hair a few times to get it fully dry if you're using a lower temperature setting. Finally, I really liked how shiny the T3 made my hair when it was steaming it dry and how it came with a protective pouch for the iron.
Other -Unlisted Brand - Philips Sonicare Toothbrush

My dentist and many of the dental hygienists who work in the office use the Sonicare toothbrush and recommended it to me. It's really great for giving you that "just had my teeth cleaned at the dentist's" feeling. My friend has had the same Sonicare toothbrush for over three years. The only downside is that the replacement heads can be expensive unless you order them online off of a place like Amazon, or buy them in bulk from Costco.
I like this hand cream a lot because it has a nice light almond smell, light and not too greasy, it's got SPF10 with the important UVA blocking Avobenzone, and the tube is small enough to fit in my purse. My only complaint is that the SPF should be higher, at least 15.
I bought Kenzo Amour from Sephora after receiving a sample. The bottle is gorgeous to have on your night stand. Different sizes come in different colours. I bought the smallest bottle (a nice magenta) because I tend to get tired of perfumes before I finish them. Anyway it's a nice one if you tend to like oriental/ woodsy perfumes. If you like fragrances like Gucci by Gucci, or Jean Paul Gaultier G^2, Miss Dior Cherie, etc, you should check this one out as well.
