Palettes -Tarte - neutralEYES natural eye shadow palette
Nikkers8 7/29/2011 5:40:00 PM
This is my favourite palette. The shadows have great colour payoff. There's a nice selection of neutral shades - half matte, half shimmer. The liner pencil included has great staying power. I really love the dual brush - one end is angled, the other is dense and tubular - great for outer corner and crease. If I had to have just one brush, this would be it! The packaging is a little overdone - I think something simpler in appearance would have worked better. The exposed decorative zippers are annoying as they catch on things and are a bit scratchy. A minor complaint though.

Primer/ Corrector -BeneFit Cosmetics - The Porefessional
Nikkers8 7/29/2011 5:30:00 PM
This product has a slippery texture and a slightly skin-toned shade. I use it on areas where I have larger pores. Instead of rubbing it in like lotion, I press it into those areas and it smooths into and over the pores. I give it a few minutes before applying foundation so I don't end up rubbing it back out of the pores. Overall, I think it helps my pores look a bit smaller but for the price I'm not sure I'd repurchase. I've owned it for a few months and the odd time, when I dispense it, I get some watery liquid.

Concealers -Make Up For Ever - Full Cover Concealer
Nikkers8 7/29/2011 5:21:00 PM
This is my favourite concealer. It works great to cover acne, pigmentation and under eye circles. The coverage is amazing and it really stays put on oily skin. I really like how small the opening on the applicator tip is - it produces a really small amount of product at once and a small amount goes a long way. It's thicker than typical liquid concealers but not as think as a creme. Will definitely buy again although I see this lasting quite long time.

Treatments -Make Up For Ever - Mist and Fix
Nikkers8 7/29/2011 5:11:00 PM
This product goes on easily. I didn't have any problems getting a fine mist that does not make my face wet at all. I spritz when all my makeup is finished and it does help with staying power on my oily skin. Only thing that I don't like is it gives a bit of a sheen, almost like when hairspray hits your forehead by accident. I'm fighting oil so don't need the sheen (although it's definitely not shiny). I think I'll try a different product because of the sheen.

Brows -E.L.F. - brow stencils

These brow stencils are now in the garbage! It's difficult to keep them in place - therefore could not use them.

Misc Beauty Tools -beautyblender - the sponge
Nikkers8 6/26/2011 6:41:00 PM
I have oily skin and acne marks and therefore need a heavier application of my foundation. I have a Quo (Shopper's Drugmart brand) that is great quality but I always felt like the blending wasn't quite enough - I ended up sort of scrubbing the product into my pores, ruining my brush as it's flat and not meant to be used that way. Enter BeautyBlender. I tried copies as the Canadian Sephora didn't have it but nothing was the same. The blender has an added sponginess and porosity. By quickly dabbing, my concealer and foundation blend flawlessly. I would recommend buying the accompanying cleanser. I tried using my MAC brush cleanser but the gel consistency of this one makes it easier to squeeze and massage the makeup out. Granted it will discolour no matter what you use but it doesn't affect its efficacy.

Blush -BeneFit Cosmetics - Dandelion
Nikkers8 6/26/2011 6:34:00 PM
I wanted to love this colour but it just doesn't produce. I could add ten layers and it wouldn't show up on my skin. It's just too transparent. I tried day in and day out but there is simply no payoff ... and my skin is quite light. Also hate the BeneFit cardboard packaging. Naturally the corners will get beat up if you throw it in a bag. For that price, it should stay nice!

Brows -Smashbox - Brow Tech To-Go
Nikkers8 6/26/2011 6:28:00 PM
I am not a fan of this product. The pencil itself is very hard and gives off very little colour without extensive force. When I do get more forceful, I am not happy with the colour (too dark due to extra force). The shape is odd - I don't see how the angle helps with application. Still looking for the perfect brow pencil. Won't be buying this again. I would take it back but the staff at my Shoppers Drugmart make it such an ordeal, I can't be bothered.

Eye Shadow -MAC - Phloof! (frost; Hollidazzle)
Nikkers8 6/26/2011 6:22:00 PM
Although I like this colour, I would caution those who have oily skin or less than taught eyelids to skip it. I love the way it looks toward my inner lid and on brow bone but the shimmer ends up looking like shine, as in oily skin after an hour or so. Also if you have any less than tigher areas by your lashes, it really highlights them. I think this colour works better for those who like a dewy look and are ... younger! Definitely has a pink tone, I couldn't see it so much in the store.

Eye Shadow -MAC - Paint Pot in Soft Ochre
Nikkers8 6/26/2011 6:17:00 PM
This has become my permanent eyelid primer (even thought it's not marketed as one). I've tried Primer Potion and Mac paints but they all crease toward my inner eye about 7 hours in. This product pretty much matches my skin but brightens my eyelid a bit. It's the perfect base for shadow and it does not crease - ever! I'm going to look for some other colours that wold make a nice base. It also packs a lot of product in there - I see it lasting a long time.

Eyeliner -MAC - Fluidline Eyeliner Gel Dipdown
Nikkers8 6/26/2011 6:13:00 PM
If you are looking for a liner that is dark but not as harsh as black, Dipdown is the one for you. It seriously stays put on my oily skin ALL day. When I used shadow or pencil liners in the heat, I always end up with it transferirng to my upper lids and under my eyes. This stays exactly where I put it until I wash it off at night. Although in the pot it looks like a medium brown, it definitely looks like a muted black on. I can't really tell it's brown. Exactly what I was looking for as the colour in the pot looked like it was a bit of a warmer brown than I wanted.

Eyeliner -MAC - Fluidline Eyeliner Gel Macroviolet
Nikkers8 6/17/2011 10:43:00 PM
This colour is more subtle than I expected. Almost looks like a soft black or dark brown with a little aubergine. The staying power is superb. I've worn it on very humid hot days and 14 hours later, it's still there. The rest of my eye makeup is gone but this liner sure stays put. It's also very easy to apply. I've tried liquid liners before and made a mess. I find this very user friendly with a good brush.
