Highlighters -TheBalm - Mary-Lou Manizer
rated 4 of 5

I have been looking for a good highlighter, and saw Hautelook. I have always had trouble with highlighters, having fair skin they either look like chalk or a disco ball. This actually blends beautifully, has just the right amount of shimmer to it. It lasts through the day, though I don't like that it seems to transfer easily. The packaging it way too cute. The mirror is large, and I can't see hitting pan on this any time soon. It's an overall good buy.

Lipstick -TheBalm - mia moore

I also got this when it was on Hautelook. I had never tried anything other than the Time Balm concealer, but the price was right so I went ahead and got the lippie. I love the retro silver bullet style tube. Simple and classy. The lipstick itself is very moisturizing, and has a hint of mint or something in it. I love it - it's a nice cooling effect - and with the current Texas summer, I'll take any cooling effect possible. The pigments are good, and honestly I wasn't expecting that. Just a normal to subpar red lipstick to add to the pile of ones I don't like too much. Quite the opposite. And it does last quite a while. Overall it is a great product and I would probably repurchase.

Lipstick -Besame - Enchanting Lipstick
rated 5 of 5
NigheanRuadh 7/4/2012 2:11:00 PM

I have been lusting after this for years. But was afraid to spend so much on something that may not work for me. I was thrilled to see the sample set recently. All of the colors are just beautiful. Highly pigmented, long lasting, non drying. The texture is creamy and goes on like silk. I can't believe how long the color lasts. Red is one of those colors that shows any bit of wear. I drink lots of water all day, so lasting without constant reapplying is a must for me, and this lipstick stands up to the challenge. I love the reproduction shades, and hello to the packaging. I don't think I've seen a prettier lipstick tube in my life. I will be rebuying this over and over. Definitely try the sampler if you are on the fence. The price is great, and with 6 shades, it makes it easy to find the right red for your skin tone. Be prepared to get hooked and never look back.

Treatments -It's a 10 - Miracle Leave in Product
rated 5 of 5
NigheanRuadh 7/4/2012 1:30:00 PM

I got the first one with my Ulta points. I was a little sour about the points and didn't even look up the product before getting it. Figured I was out of my detangler so whatever. When I started using it though, I was so pleased. It really does do what it claims. It makes my hair so much easier to work with my wet hair, which is very long and fine, so tangles are inevitable. I ran out and for those two days noticed my hair was much more frizzy and even the texture was rough. Between my Shiseido hair care line and this, my hair is like silk. I won't be without it again.

Lipstick -Revlon - Colorburst Lip Butter
rated 2 of 5
NigheanRuadh 7/4/2012 1:00:00 PM

I was really excited to try this since the regular Colorburst is a great product. And I had high expectations based on that. Maybe I am just used to using lipstick and not glosses or tints, but I just do not get the love for this. I've tried several colors, using lip liners, primers etc. The color on all 6 that I have tried fades within an hour. And reapplying doesn't seem to help that. The colors are lovely, and the texture is nice, but they just do not last on me. :( I do love the packaging, the quilted cap is back, and I love the jelly look to it. If they make the tints last longer, I'll go back to them, but in the mean time, it's cream lipsticks for this gal.

Mascara -Mary Kay - Lash Love Mascara
rated 5 of 5
NigheanRuadh 7/3/2012 1:09:00 AM

I have a mascara problem. I hop from mascara to mascara. Fall in love and then the wonderful Texas weather will change and I fall out of love. I thought I had found my HG mascara in the L'oreal False Fiber waterproof. And then we hit a 100 degree streak. Smudging on my brow bones, flaking, raccoon eyes. So I was on the hunt, yet again. HOLY CRAP. I love this. LOVE LOVE LOVE. No smudging. No raccoon eyes. No flakes. Stands up to the heat, sweating, and allergies (I have terrible eye allergies and use prescription drops, lasting through that and itching is always hard to find, and I had given up). No clumps. The brush is nice, and the application is so nice and rich. Volumizes, lengthens. I also use the lash primer with this product, so I am not sure on it's own, but the duo is the best thing I have ever tried. I'm notorious for using many coats. The Lash Love only needs 1, maybe 2 if I'm feeling super glam. And does a MUCH better job at a falsie look than any mascara that I have tried before - even those claiming their product will give that look. It is a bit more work to get off at night, but I just hold my Sonia Kushak Remove soaked cotton pad on longer and it comes off fine, almost no rubbing. I really recommend this, especially with summer heat on. And I will be buying this again. Can't say enough good things about it.

Powder -Mary Kay - Mineral Powder Foundation
rated 3 of 5
NigheanRuadh 7/13/2011 2:23:00 AM

This was a last ditch effort in trying mineral makeups. It really is more of a loose powder than a foundation, even with multiple layers. It is really light weight, but so is the coverage. I am not impressed with the color selection at all. I am using the lightest and I feel like it gives me such a white cakey look. The next color up made me look like I used bronzer it was so dark. The jar is huge, so it does last forever. I'm just going to stick with translucent setting powders from now on. Not repurchasing this or any mineral makeup again.

Cleansers -Aveeno - Ultra-Calming Moisturizing Cream Cleanser [DISCONTINUED]
rated 4 of 5
NigheanRuadh 7/11/2011 2:24:00 AM

I really like this product. I normally do not like cream cleansers. And even with my Pretika, I still wasn;t getting the makeup removal I wanted. So I switched -foaming cleanser/Pretika at night. In the morning, just wet my face, rub in, rinse. My redness has decreased. And it is very moisturizing. And no fragrance at all. Good for sensitive skin. will probably continue to use this in my AM routine, since it is working well.

Lipstick -Revlon - Revlon Super Lustrous in Fire and Ice
rated 4 of 5
NigheanRuadh 7/10/2011 2:50:00 AM

I am a sucker for red lipstick. Especially retro reds. And this one was a must try, I have recently been pleased with the ColorBurst lipsticks, so I figured it was worth giving the Super Lustrous another shot. I didn't get the super awesome vintage package when they first brought this color back (And have been scouring ebay for them). That didn't sway me from going for the color anyway. I love the clear cap - makes it super easy to see what color you are grabbing. The color itself (on me) does have some pink tones to it - I was a little worried as I look awful in pink toned lipsticks. But when applied, it comes off as a bright gorgeous red. I love that it is a repro of the iconic 1950s red (did I mention I love red retro lipstick?). It is really moisturizing, though I always start my beauty routine off with lip balm to get my lips ready for lipstick. The formula itself seems to last a good amount of time - not at all what I was expecting. It's worth a shot to try, and I will be buying again - and hopefully snagging the vintage case.

Eye Makeup Remover -Sonia Kashuk - Remove
rated 5 of 5
NigheanRuadh 7/6/2011 2:05:00 AM

This is my favourite DS remover. I had been using the MUFE Sens'Eyes remover, but it was very cost prohibitive. I came across this one in my search for a replacement. It's fabulous. Just a little on a cotton pad, and waterproof makeup comes right off. No tugging or rubbing. It also works great on longwearing lipstick removal. And NO residue. I'm always using a dipped q-tip to correct liner, brows, lipstick while applying, so that is very important to me. The price is pretty good for as much is in the bottle. I have bought this many times and will continue to do so.

Cleansers -Cerave - Foaming Facial Cleanser
rated 5 of 5
NigheanRuadh 7/6/2011 1:50:00 AM

After being happy with the PM Lotion, I wanted to give the cleanser a try. And I love it, glad I tried it. The niacinmide is great for reducing redness, and just like the lotion, it works well with my Taz.. It hasn't caused any breakouts, such a nice gentle formula - no fragrance, and hydrating. The foaming is great with my Pretika - and removes my BB Cream completely, which is very long wearing and waterproof. The price for the amount you get is dirt cheap - I got mine at CVS while on sale for $2 off, making it about $1/oz. I will absolutely repurchase this again. It's my new HG cleanser. UPDATE: I've been using this for over a year now, and it's as good now as it was on day one. I can't imagine using another cleanser ever. I now use a Clarisonic, and it is fantastic paired with it.

Misc Beauty Tools -Sonia Kashuk - Blending Sponge
rated 5 of 5
NigheanRuadh 7/6/2011 1:43:00 AM

I love this sponge. I had seen the Beauty Blender and wanted to try it. This was a great budget alternative. It is great for blending any streaks from foundation. The pointed end is great for under eye concealers - good at getting in to the small corners. I also use it for blending in blush - cream or powder. I love it for blush as it helps achieve the natural flush look nicely. I will buy this sponge again - I don't know how I've not used one like it before.

Eye Makeup Remover -L'Oreal - Clean Artiste
rated 3 of 5
NigheanRuadh 6/26/2011 1:17:00 AM

I got this only because I was at Ulta and had a coupon, making it dirt cheap. I usually use the Sonia Kashuk remover, and this seemed to be the closest thing I could find. It works very similarly to the SK. However I hate the childproof pill bottle style lid. Very annoying. And the formula itself leaves a horribly oily residue it leaves behind. It does take off long wear and waterproof makeup with ease, however I use remover on a Q-tip to prefect eyeliner and things during makeup application, and the residue is horrible for this. For once I'm glad one of my cats knocked a product in the sink so I can return to my SK remover.

Cleansers -Burt's Bees - Radiance Facial Cleanser
rated 3 of 5
NigheanRuadh 6/22/2011 10:16:00 PM

I like this. But it's not outstanding - and it didn't do anything in the radiance department. I love that it is a foaming cleanser and can be used with a Clairsonic/Pretika. It does a good job at not drying me out. But if I buy something to do a specific job, I'd like to see results, which I didn't in over several months of use.

Hair Removal -Unlisted Brand - Smooth Away hair removing pads
rated 1 of 5
NigheanRuadh 6/22/2011 9:52:00 PM

I wish I could give this zero lippies. I was left with red bumps all over, and it didn't really remove any hair. You might as well head to Home Depot and get super fine grit sandpaper, since that's all this is, except pink fo' the ladies and a handy wrap for your hand. What a joke.
