Fragrances -Unlisted Brand - Kate Walsh - Boyfriend

I love this scent. The first time I smelled it I immediately had to take in another deep whiff of it. It is not the kind of scent that gets into the room before you do, rather it is more enveloping on the skin. The scent is very unique and almost impossible to describe. It dries down to a very warm vanilla amber on me, with a touch of femininity. The scent also is very long lasting , a sign of a very high quality fragrance. I also like that it is made in the USA. I generally do not like fragrances, but this one breaks all the molds and is in a category all by itself. I like it so much that I've got in in the EDP and body cream (also great), and am seriously thinking of buying it in perfume too.
Liquid -Make Up For Ever - Mat Velvet PLUS Matifying Foundation
NickelEmily 7/29/2011 10:49:00 PM
This is a very good medium to full coverage foundation with lasting power. I have slighlty oily skin and this holds up to it, and summer's hot, humid weather. It is not as natural looking on the skin as MUFE's HD formulation--you need to work much harder on blending it to make it look natural. (Thus 4 not 5 lippies.) I've experimented a lot anf found that using a stipling brush and then going back over it with a BB sponge does the trick for me. If makeup disappears on you over the day, this is a good option. When blended this is natural enough that I can wear it on the T-Zone and it looks like me, not makeup and stays put all day.
This is a very soothing toner that provides light moisturization. I was surprised how much I liked it, given I have been such a devotee of the PC skin balancing toner. But this has found a place in my daily arsenal--and I now use the skin balancing at night and the refresh toner in the morning. If my skin feels particularly hot and/or bothered, I will also use this. Somehow it calms my skin quite well. The toner has a different texture. It's not as thin as watery toners but not thick enough to be a gel. It's somewhere in between and is a cloudy/millky color. As always, no colorants and no frangrances. This product would be good for all skin types.
Lotions/ Creams -Paula's Choice - Weightless Body Treatment with 2% BHA
NickelEmily 6/24/2011 6:29:00 PM
This product rocks! It is one of the best (although light) moisturizers I have ever tried. It has a very light melon fragrance. It is very soothing and does a great job--BHA really helps to deflake/exfoliate the ski while lightly moisturizing. It you are looking for a heavy moisturizer, however, this is not the one for you.
PC's skin relief treatment is a go-to product for me whenever my skin is irritated/needs calming. Essentially it's like an aspirin mask only you don't have to mix it up yourself. It is fragrance free and has a water consistency. I use a cotton round and rub it like a toner on my face. It's also quite cooling to the skin so for those of you experiencing hot flashes in your faces, this is a great stand-by product to have at the ready.
Moisturizers -Paula's Choice - RESIST Barrier Repair Moisturizer

This moisturizer is a light, non-greasy fragrance free version. I think it might not be enough for those of you with very dry skin. But for me (slightly oily, sensitive skin) it works great when I need that extra something. It is very soothing and calming to the skin as well. It's also great as an under eye moisturizer.
I was not impressed by this mascara. First, it smudges and flakes something terrible. By the end of the day, I had more of the mascara under my eyes than on my lashes. Not a good look. Second, it doesn't really do anything to enhance the lashes that one has. I have long, thick eyelashes and so don't need a lot from macara products. But this just did nothing, save travel under the eyes. At best it's an "eh" product. This product is a big disappointment.
Tinted Moisturizer -Josie Maran Cosmetics - Tinted Moisturizer

I really like this tinted moisturizer. It's more like a foundation than a tinted moisturizer. It has a heavier texture than other tinted moisturizers I have tried. Know that you will have to squeeze the tube a bit to make sure the product mixes well before opening the cap as the oils (argan, jojoba, pomegranate, avacado, flax) in this tend to separate otherwise. (Not a big deal to me to massage/squeeze it a bit.) In addition to these oils, it has a host of other ingredients that are great for the skin (ex. extracts of papaya, rosemary, chamomilla, ginseng, passion fruit. olive fruit and leaf, etc.). It does not contain parabens. It has nice, yet natural looking coverage--covers up acne scars and blemishes well. It has no scent. It does not make my oily skin feel oilier over the course of the day, and the tint has pretty good stay power for a tinted moisturizer. (This is where foundation beats tinted moisturizers though.) I tried LM tinted moisturizer (oil free version) and this beats LM's version hands down. If you're looking for a lighter, more sheer product, this would not be a good choice for you though. If you need a little help covering imprefections, this may be a good option for you. (p.s. I use the butter shade and have light skin.)
This is a all natural sunscreen (SPF 40+). I like that it is a physical block and not chemicals. It has a light texture and sinks into the skin quite well. It has a light apricot scent and argan oil. Surprisingly it does not break me out or make my face an oil slick. It also spreads well, not leaving an unnatural white cast that so many of the physical SPFs do. It's also light weight enough to use all year. I liked this one well enough repurchase it.
As much as I wanted to like this one, I don't. The sugar granuals are very big and rough---too much so. And using this feels like rubbing cut glass on the skin. Ouch! It also does not dissolve well in the shower. The only thing I liked about it in the end was the fragrance.
Lip Treatments -Fresh - Sugar Plum Lip Treatment SPF 15
NickelEmily 8/31/2010 7:23:00 PM
I like all of the fresh lip balms a lot. The plum has more payoff for me than the rose version. It's still a very natural color on me--just enhances the lips. The balm is very moisturizing. You don't need to reaply this a lot as the moistizing effect is long lasting.
Lip Treatments -Fresh - Sugar Rose Lip Treatment SPF 15
NickelEmily 8/31/2010 7:21:00 PM
I like all of the fresh lip balms a lot. The rose it a very natural color on me--a very barely there color. The balm is very moisturizing. You don't need to reaply this a lot as the moistizing effect is long lasting. I also tried the plum version. I like that one a bit more, as there is more color payoff on my lips. Both are great though.
I'm surprised by all the low ratings on this one. I rather like the fragrance--a brown sugar, lemon mix. Aside from a yummy fragrance, it also does a great job moisturizing and feels great on the skin. It does not leave skin greasy; rather skin just drinks it in--so soothing!

Despite the high price tag, this lip balm is great. It is a superior lip moisturizer. It glides on effortlessly and truly does do a great, long lasting job to keep the lips hydrated. I recommend it highly.
Lotions/ Creams -Unlisted Brand - Atopalm MLE Body Lotion
NickelEmily 5/22/2010 4:30:00 PM
This is a very, very good body moisturizer without a lot of skin sensitizing ingredients. It is light and non greasy and feels very soothing. It's also good for use on hands. I like it so much that I bought it in the larger size so I'll have it when the smaller tube I am using runs out. I know it's pricey. One tip is that Sk*nst*re often runs 20% coupons on atopalm and there are rebate sites that link to this merchant, so it's less of a hit to the pocket. I will definitely repurchase this item.
