Mascara -Revlon - Revlon Grow Luscious Mascara
Newyearsgirl 3/18/2012 1:13:00 PM
I LOOOOOOOOOVE THIS MASCARA!!!!!!!! Just got it today, and I haven't been able to believe how GREAT my lashes look! :-D First of all, I have naturally long, dark, curly lashes. I'm good with clear mascara, but today, my mom bought it and I asked to try it (I've been on a week-long hunt for a new, good mascara). I normally don't share mascara, but my mom is so healthy that I had no reason to resist. Since I was getting ready to go to an event, I thought it might be a nice time to try something new---and boy am I glad I did! My lashes are so UNBELIEVABLY and BEAUTIFULLY LONG AND FULL that they can be seen ACROSS THE ROOM! THANKS MOM! :-D Best of all, I always strive for natural-looking makeup, and this fits the bill! I have it in black shimmer, which is nice. I haven't seen the shimmer on my lashes, but they do have an almost glossed look; I'm guessing that that's the shimmer's effect. I know that LONG and FULL doesn't sound like it would look natural, but it does on me! :-D I will be keeping this mascara as a makeup bag staple FOR SURE! I'll probably even pick up the waterproof formulation this summer. I'm predominately a HE girl when it comes to makeup, but I love cheap products that perform...and this is one of them! Without a doubt, it's my top mascara! While Rimmel's Volume Accelerator is next for it's lightness, this one looks better and more natural. It looks almost like you stained your lashes and then used a serum on top. LOVE IT! :-D

Fragrances -Bath and Body Works - Secret Wonderland
Newyearsgirl 1/26/2012 3:56:00 PM
I bought Secret Wonderland last December, soon after it came out, and I love it! It was a hallmark purchase for me, since I hadn't bought any fragrances for myself before (that I remember), and the fact that I got it on my bday makes it even more special. But I love it for its scent too! Very 'there' in a nice way. When I wear it, I do get berries.. I'd describe it as a purple fragrance, if you can see what I mean. My parents can't stand it, and it's been the subject of hilarious outbursts, but I like it. Try it before you buy, since it's evidently not for everyone. But my fragrance collection always has it! I gave it a 4 because it does have an 'alcohol' scent, but it's good for a generic scent. Overall, good quality! Way to go BBW!

Lip Treatments -Carmex - Moisture Plus Ultra Hydrating Tinted Lip Balms
Newyearsgirl 1/19/2012 9:10:00 AM
I LOVE THIS LIP BALM! I'm a very picky lip color shopper; I like some shine but not too much, medium pigment, and comfort to be in my lip colors. To my surprise, this balm fits those criteria! GREAT BUY! I have it in Sheer Peach, which looks dark in the tube but goes on more like the colored strip on the package. It's gorgeous! Looks nicest in bright sunlight to me, and it looks great with my warm skin tone! AND it's economical...normally about 3 bucks and change, though I bought it at $1.50 today on sale! Love that its at CVS, which is one place I always go. WILL be keeping this one!

Lipstick -BeneFit Cosmetics - Silky-Finish Lipstick
Newyearsgirl 1/18/2012 5:39:00 PM
I have the Silky Finish Lipstick in Jing-A-Ling, and I like the color! Wish it were a better fit for my skin color, but it's nice for I think medium to cooler undertoned people. I love how just a little goes a long way, and how the shimmer isn't too much. I think it's more than I wanted in a lipstick, but somehow it's nice in this! The saleslady at Macy's was great. I do have to say that it hardly lasts a few minutes. It moves even when you say m's and it doesn't last through a drink or meal. But it's nice! I wouldn't rebuy because of that and because it's too cool for my skintone, but it's an ok deal.

Lip Gloss -MAC - Tinted Lipglass
Newyearsgirl 1/14/2012 9:44:00 PM
I have this in Pink Lemonade, and I like it. I do wish I'd gotten one of the slightly lighter colors, but that's only because it's such a vibrant pink. It looks just like its shown on the MAC website, but I went by another pic. Next time, I think I'll get Florabundance or a color similar to it. When you want to buy one of these, GO BY THE PICS ON MAC'S OFFICIAL WEBSITE! Other than that, it's nice! I like how pigmented they are, and how they aren't shimmery...that alone makes them different from most glosses. It's also nice that they smell like a vanilla cupcake or a sugar cookie, and that have a sponge applicator that works pretty well. They're also easy to use as little or as much as you want, but beware if you use a lot-it will be sticky. As others have said, it sticks to your hair. That only happened to me once though, when I used a lot. Go for a minimal shine or thicker look and you should be okay. I think I'll definitely get it again though...I haven't found such a nice, there-but-not-shimmery-or-glittery, believable-but-not-too-gaudy lip gloss in my life!

Lip Treatments -Carmex - vanilla click stick
Newyearsgirl 1/14/2012 9:34:00 PM
I really like this click stick! My mom used to have me use Carmex on cold sores, and I never liked their products because of their flavor, tingle, and consistency. I've bought them off and on because they work, but then I'd always regret my purchase and trash it. THIS, however, is great! I saw it in CVS a few minutes ago and walked by indifferently, but the package, advertising (the girl in the display had such nice lips) and flavor made me run back and grab it. I just tried it, and I will be buying it again! It's not as tingly as the other Carmex products, and the vanilla flavor is there but not overwhelming. At first, you smell a weaker version of the original Carmex smell as well as vanilla. Then it goes away in a few minutes. My lips feel GREAT, my nose is filled with amazing vanilla (and not the trashy kind...a nice, gourmand kind), and I only paid like $1.62! Great buy! I also liked how beeswax is the first inactive ingredient, not petroleum...no pet. would be better, but having it way down on the list is better than having it as one of the first ingredients. Still, awesome product! Bet it'll work well under/over lipstick and over lipstains too!

Lip Treatments -Burt's Bees - Tinted Lip Balm
Newyearsgirl 1/11/2012 9:33:00 AM
I got this in Tigerlily, and hated it. It really is waxy, like Burt's Bees Ultra Conditioning balm, but some people like that...just not my thing. Also, hardly any color payoff! For $7.49 at CVS, I expect more than that in a lip balm! :-( Not a re-buy product for me.

Fragrances -Lavanila - vanilla grapefruit
Newyearsgirl 1/4/2012 1:20:00 PM
I LOVE Vanilla Grapefruit! :-D Got it as a Christmas gift after loving it in Urban Outfitters months before. I do have to say it is strong the first 10 or so minutes of wearing it, but nothing bad. Just a LOT of grapefruit. But if you stick it out, it fades into the vanilla, and the longer you wear it, the vanilla becomes the prominent note. The vanilla isn't too sweet at all...in fact, it smells like you rubbed vanilla extract on you! Very real and not at all fake, which I love. The best part is, after reapplying it once yesterday, I thought the smell was gone-turned out that my nose had just stopped smelling it. When I woke up in the middle of the night, it was on me and filled the air pocket under my covers! I've never enjoyed breaking my sleep cycle so much! Pure vanilla goodness! Though you might have to put more on, it does last a while..about 14 hours for me,yesterday. And I hade no rollerball problems, the parfum came out easily. Get the rollerball if you're unsure, like I did, and go from there. The fragrance and healthy ingredients definitely make it a great way to spend $19!

Fragrances -Gucci - Flora eau fraiche
Newyearsgirl 1/4/2012 1:10:00 PM
I really wanted to like this fragrance because it's Gucci and all, but it makes me feel a little sickish because of it's fruitiness. And it's too fresh and cloyingly bland for me.Maybe it's because I don't gravitate towards Eau Fraiche scents, but I don't think so. I really liked Chanel's Chance Eau Fraiche, and I almost asked for it for Christmas. I would have but Chance Eau Tendre was more me, so I'm happy I received it as a bday gift! :-D But this is a nice smell for someone, I think, since I did like it before I got tired of it. Just try to smell it first before buying. SOOOO glad I got a sample of it from Sephora before buying!

Fragrances -Burberry - Body
Newyearsgirl 1/4/2012 1:02:00 PM
I really like this fragrance. Though I do adore Burberry Brit, I find this more sophisticated and refined. I think it's good for my age group, 16-26. It's mature FOR YOUNGER wearers and young for older 20's. I think it's a nice evening scent, though maybe a bit light unless you spray a few squirts. I think it's AMAZING for day wear with only one or two sprays. Definitely a scent that's my skin but better, but not repulsive as some such scents may be. Love the vanilla notes in it too! Just get Burberry Body Intense if you find it weak, as some do. I find one that too strong for me, but if you like scents that are stronger, go for it. I think it's name, Body, fits it pretty well.

Fragrances -Burberry - Brit
Newyearsgirl 1/4/2012 12:56:00 PM
I LOVE Burberry Brit!!!! :-) I have it in the EDP, which I like more for fall/winter wear than the EDT (which I've tried). Still, I think it'll be awesome in the spring & summer anyway...but I'm sure loving it now! When you first spray it, you get a nice burst of citrus, specifically ime & pear. As it warms up, you get more of the vanilla & almonds. The great thing is it's not a foody vanilla, as other reviewers have said; it's light and AWESOME! I'm saving it as my everyday fragrance for warmer weather, but only because I never want to run out. I love the posh statement the bottle and paper sleeve makes too! I think the girl on the sleeve epitomizes both the Burberry girl and this fragrance, though it is nice enough to wear as an evening fragrance. It rocks!

Fragrances -Burberry - Brit Sheer
Newyearsgirl 1/3/2012 7:26:00 PM
When I first saw this at Sephora.com, I didn't want it but the desire for it grew after a while. I bought it from Nordstrom on Christmas day, since I'd gotten a chance to smell it at Macys'. It is a strong, somewhat unextroadinary scent, but I think it's distinct enough to make a statement. It seems like a great summer&spring fragrance to me, like something you'd wear at the beach. It's very obviously fruity-floral, but I only don't like that much because I don't really love florals as much as I love oriental scents. But it's young with a refined edge, so I do like it a lot. Burberry is doing well to get me to like a floral scent at all! The nice thing is that a dab really does last a while, and it's a nice citrusy smell. I got a lot of pinapple for the top note and white peony for the heart note. I do kind of wish that it had more of a "Wow, that girl is different!" effect ( versus it's "Wow, she smells nice." ), but overall it's great. A little pricy for the rollerball I got ( I got it for $25 whereas most rollerballs go for $19-$22 ), but a good purchase. I think I'd like to save it's place for another fragrance when I run out of it, though, since I don't get much summer beach time.
