Mascara -Maybelline - volume express hypercurl
NatureLover0685 4/15/2012 8:53:00 AM
I've been a great fan of Maybelline mascaras, with the Magnum being my favorite. I bought this mascara because it was on sale at the time, and the package said it curls the eyelashes without having to use an eyelash curler beforehand. NOT TRUE!! The first time I used this, I went without the curler. Rather than curling my eyelashes, it made them straight and flat, like I have a bunch of needles for upper and lower eyelashes. It looked so terrible I made to remove them, use a curler, and reapply. If used with an eyelash curler, then I would say this product is no different from the Magnum. Personally, I would even that, while Hypercurl does curl your eyelashes very nicely, the effect does not last long. I applied at around 7:30 in the morning. By noon, the curliness has disappeared, making my eyes look tired and droopy. So, the verdict? The product itself is tolerable, but given the fact it failed to deliver what was promised on the package, I'm going to stick with the Magnum.

Masks -Unlisted Brand - Tony Moly Tomatox Brightening Mask
NatureLover0685 1/23/2012 9:56:00 PM
Before this mask came out, an earlier version of it (TonyMoly Tomato Whitening & Brightening Mask) was released. At the time, it was advertised as a WHITENING mask, and there was no mention about it being anti-oxidant. The packaging was almost identical, and the mask is mixed with small red beads. I initially bought it for a friend during my trip to Seoul, and bought one for myself out of curiosity. What impressed me about this mask is how quickly I can see the results. For a while (perhaps around 30-45 minutes) my skin seems fairer than before. However, it's not very long-lasting, and unless you keep using this product (like every 1-2 days), your skin will revert back to its original color (even slightly darker than before). Now on to the TOMATOX BRIGHTENING MASK... My sister bought the TOMATOX BRIGHTENING MASK when we were in Taiwan. At the time, I didn't know the two masks were different. After using it for a few weeks though, my sister gave me the TOMATOX mask because it caused a major breakout on her face. When I opened it, I noticed the beads are white instead of red, meaning this is a different mask from the last one I tried. So I put a small amount on my cheek to test it. Luckily, no breakouts. The mask did make my skin look healthier, but the brightening effect seen in this mask was not as obvious as the last one. Also, the scent did put me off a bit, and it's definitely not for people with sensitive or acne-prone skin. One upside about this mask is the quantity. If used 2-3 times per week, it should last you for at least 3-4 months (maybe more depending on the amount you use each time). Currently, I use it about 1-2 times per week. While this mask does meet my expectations, the price is too expensive for my budget. There are other Korean skincare products that bring about better results than this product (such as Skinfood, Dr. Jart, Mask House, or Nature Republic), so unless you really love TonyMoly products, I'd say the company missed the mark with this mask (this time).

Mascara -Maybelline - Volum' Express Cat Eyes Waterproof in feline black
NatureLover0685 5/18/2011 12:07:00 PM
I've been a fan of Maybelline mascara for years, so when this first came out, I bought it because the brush is so different from the past mascaras I've used. In terms of results, I absolutely love it. Since I have short eyelashes, I'd curl my lashes in the morning prior to applying my mascara, and it stays on for THE ENTIRE DAY!! The increased length of my eyelashes are quite obvious, and they curl wonderfully without giving you that exaggerated, spidery look (like some of the Japanese brands I've used in the past). Plus, because the brush is tinier than normal, I can reach and apply the corner of my eyes without smudging. Overall, this is one incredible mascara. I took one star off because at the end of the day, it tends to take quite some time to remove. But this is, to me, a very minor detail.

This product is worth every penny. It's clean, easy to apply, quick to absorb, and I don't have to worry about the product leaking all over my face. I begin seeing results within a week (using it twice a day). The puffiness are disappearing, and my dark circles are almost gone! This is the best eye treatment product I've ever used!

Lipstick -Estee Lauder - Pure Color Lipstick- Rose Tea
NatureLover0685 1/21/2010 7:18:00 AM
I've been struggling to find a long lasting lipstick, and while shopping in Bonjour, found this palette with 10 Pure Color Lipstick samples. Rose Tea was one of them, and also the first color I tried. WHAT A DIFFERENCE! I no longer have to look in a mirror every 1 hour to reapply, and I love the color! It does dry up my lips, though, but that problem is solved applying a layer of lip moisturizer before and after application. I have just finished using the sample, and have already bought the full-size lipstick.

From the Etude House Happy Tea Time Cleansing Line, this cleanser is a genius! It has a nice subtle scent, with moisturizing ingredients so my face wouldn't feel dry even after washing. Plus, it refreshes and revitalizes my skin. The line consists of the following teas: - Aloe Tea (for moisturizing) - Milk Tea (for softening) - Peach Tea (for brightening) - Green Tea (for clarifying) - Lemon Tea (for revitalizing)

Scrubs -Skinfood - Black Sugar Mask
NatureLover0685 1/15/2010 9:39:00 AM
I'm a huge fan of Skinfood and have been using it as a scrub. I have combination skin, so my t-zone is especially oily, and this is the face area where I'd use the mask on. The texture feels pretty harsh, but it's a very effective exfoliating scrub. I'd use it on my t-zone twice a week, and on my cheeks, chin and neck once a week. Overall, this is a great product, both as a scrub and a mask (whichever you prefer). Plus, it's 100mL, so it lasts for quite awhile. Will definitely repurchase.

Lip Treatments -Vaseline - Intensive Care Lip Essence Advanced
NatureLover0685 1/10/2010 9:02:00 AM
A wonderful product! It's easy to apply, and leaves no post-application mess (no more worrying about icky fingers). I apply it each night before I go to bed and I'd wake up with soft and healthy-looking lips. The only bummer about it is that there's no SPF, so I couldn't use it during the day. However, it does make a great nighttime treatment for me, especially during fall and winter. I would definite buy again!

Eye Makeup Remover -Neutrogena - Oil Free eye makeup remover
NatureLover0685 4/12/2009 12:27:00 PM
Very gentle. Doesn't sting my eyes, and it removes waterproof mascara without a lot of hassle. I usually hold it to my eyes for 5-10 seconds before wiping and the remover would do the rest.

Concealers -The Body Shop - Lightening Touch
NatureLover0685 4/12/2009 12:23:00 PM
I had a bit of trouble using this at first, just make sure you don't turn the dial too much (no more than once) and the liquid won't coming spilling out like lava. It's a great cover up for acnes and pimples, but not a great concealer for dark circles and spots. Plus, the price is a tad too expensive for me. Overall, though, it's a pretty nice concealer to have in my purse, but I'll probably shop for something less expensive when I've used this up.

Lotions/ Creams -Bath and Body Works - Sweet Pea body Lotion
NatureLover0685 4/12/2009 11:53:00 AM
There are other BBW scents that're way nicer than Sweet Pea, but as a body lotion, it's WONDERFUL! The smell may seem overbearing at first, but later on it fades into a subtle floral scent, and is great with any spray or perfume that I use (sometimes I don't even have to use perfume). The moisturizing effect is amazing, and makes my skin very soft and smooth. The only disappointment I have is that they do not have a Bath & Body Works here in Hong Kong. I have to stock up whenever I make a trip back to the States, or ask a friend to buy it for me whenver they travel overseas.

Lip Treatments -Neutrogena - Lip Moisturizer
NatureLover0685 4/12/2009 11:49:00 AM
The greatest thing about this lip moisturizer is that it contains SPF, and it's fit to use for all seasons. Also, it's fragrance-free, and the price fits quite nicely too!

Lip Treatments -Burt's Bees - Honey Lip Balm
NatureLover0685 4/12/2009 11:45:00 AM
The scent is quite nice, and it provides the typical nourishing feeling any lip balm would give. I honestly don't see anything special about it, but at least it doesn't make my lips drier or anything (like some lip balms have done in the past).

Scrubs -St. Ives - Apricot Scrub Blemish and Blackhead Control
NatureLover0685 4/12/2009 12:34:00 AM
I use this once a week during winter, and ever other day during summer. It has a great scent, and it really prevents acne (can't say much about blackheads though). It's not the best exfoliater out there, but the price is well worth the product.
