Mascara -Stila - Major Lash Mascara
Nadeshda 8/29/2009 3:37:00 PM
This has got to be the worst mascara I've ever tried! When I first got it, it didn't think it was that bad. I do like multitasking mascaras, that lengthen and volumise, and I do like dramatic lashes. This didn't really do any of either, but it was decent, very natural and separated my lashes really nice. However, after only 2 weeks, it dried out terribly in the tube and became extra thick and goopy. When I apply this, it clumps all of my lashes, and I look like I only have 6 eyelashes. Not good. I have to always have a spoolie in had when I use this, I apply mascara, and use the spoolie, but then, the spoolie removes a bit too much product from the sides of my lashes, so they look spidery, I apply another coat of mascara just to give a bit more volume and it clumps... it's impossible to work it. I'm not too upset because I got it as a part of a set with a bucketload of products, but if I had paid full price for it, I would be very pissed off, to say the least. I will never buy it again and will probably toss it soon, after having it for 3 weeks. What a waste!

Lip Gloss -MAC - Dazzleglass in Date Night
Nadeshda 8/12/2009 11:29:00 AM
I used to be one of those people who don't really like sparkly things. I'm very low-key and classical in the way I dress, stick to neutral eyeshadows, matte blushes, and non-sparkey gloss or lipstick. A slight shimmer is ok on my book, but glitter hasn't ever been my type of thing. Naturally, when I heard about dazzleglasses, as being glosses infused with glitter, my first though was "disco ball! Tacky! Who the hell wants GLITTER on their LIPS?!". Well, I came to find out that, according to my own standards, apparently I'm tacky because I DO want this glitter on my lips!! I watched some YT video, I think by fafinettex3 in which she was using this and it looked gorgeous! I caved in and ordered this Dazzleglass because I figured... don't knock 'till you try it, specially since this seemed such a nice colour. The color in the tube? Gorgeous! The swatch on my hand? SCARY! I'm a bit on the fair side (NC20 here) and seeing what appeared to be a scary, plum/wineish-colored goo with blue glitter in it got me thinking "what the heck was I thinking?? Why did I assume it would look good on my pale self just because it looked good on an olive-toned much darker than me girl?!". But I was still so mesmerized by the color in the tube and the prettyness of it I decided to take a chance. Did a neutral eye, tinted moisturizer bronzey blush and this. All I can say is WOW! Talk about gorgeous and flattering! I think I can pull this off because I'm a brunette and despite being a bit fair, I have heavily deep reddish pigmented lips, so it doesn't look too garish. It also goes on sheer, giving your lips just a bit of a plum flush and the glitter is not too in your face. It seems to be a bit sticky, and I didn't use it for too long, but it didn't seem as sticky or heavy on the lips as the lipglasses. It has a brush applicator which is really odd, BTW, kinda pointy, hard and prickly. Maybe it'll ease up as I use it. The tube seems huge, but don't be fooled, there's less in there than in a lipglass, and it is much more expensive! Still, I'd buy this again. I figure this will last me a long time anyway, because I do have several other lip products I rotate, and I use lipsticks most of the time because I can't stand having my hair stuck to the lipgloss on my lips when it's windy (talk about sexy! haha!). Besides, I'm not one of those people that keeps reapplying lip products, I only do it once or twice a day, at most.

Lipstick -Artdeco - Glossy Lip Care
Nadeshda 12/17/2008 6:53:00 AM
Like the previous reviewers, I got this in #30, which is a light nude pink... I also wanted #36, but it was sold out (that's how pretty it is). This lipstick is, without question, the most comfortable lipstick ever! It is incredibly soft to apply, and creamy. It glides like butter, doesn't tug your lips or anything and does not feel heavy on your lips. These are pretty sheer on my deep reddish-pink pigmented lips (but the lippies are nicely pigmented, I could see it on my hand when I swatched them, but my lips are really pigmented), so I have to apply a few coats, but the good thing is that you can apply as many layers as you want and it doesn't turn cakey, it still looks smooth and feels comfortable. These provide a glossy finish to your lips, but it's not overpowering, and it doesn't have any sort of glitter in it. The result is a natural and comfortable look. Another good thing is that these are really moisturizing, I've been wearing mine on cold winter days in which you feel like the cold wind is cutting your skin, but my lips stay moisturized and supple through the day. The only thing is that I find this doesn't stay quite as long as regular lipsticks, but I can live with that. It comes in a packaging similar to the MAC slimshines, and has a little logo saying Artdeco on the lid. Very discreet and elegant-looking. These retail here in Portugal for... 9€? Something like that. It's an incredibly cheap product for the quality provided. These come in 6 soft different shades, from brown, beige, light and dark pink. A true winner. I will be back for more Glossy Lipcares, specially that #36 that was sold out :)

Cleansers -Nivea - Visage Young - Wash Off Cleansing Gel
Nadeshda 6/15/2008 8:59:00 AM
I began using the whole Nivea Visage Young range in October. I have combination, acne-prone skin so I thought this would work fine. I got the one without the pump, you squeeze out the amount you want. It's a blue-transparent gel with a lovely sea scent. However, those are it's only strong points. The gel is very thick, hard to lather up and doesn't foam up (I prefer foaming cleansers). After removing it with plenty of water, it left a film on my face and made my skin feel tight. This line did absolutely nothing for my skin, other than making it smell nice after washing it. My acne continued, although I felt my skin tight, and it left dry spots on my face - spots that were flaking, even though I only washed my face once a day exactly to prevent this. It is cheap, and if it works for you, great. But I did not repurchase this... I stopped using this in April, after running out. I switched to Avene and I've been using the Cleanance cleanser... something I noticed is that I need a lot less from the Avene cleanser to wash my face... I needed at least the double of that amount with the Nivea one.

Treatments -Avene - Cleanance K
Nadeshda 6/15/2008 8:48:00 AM
First of all, this is not a moisturiser, but a treatment. It does have a moisturising action, but it's nos it's main purpose... this is pretty much a chemical peel, but a very gently one. This is a clear, thick gel-like cream meant for oily/combination/acne prone skin. I have been using this for 2 months and I'm noticing a very big difference in my skin (combination, not too oily on the T-zone, but with plenty of blackheads and dry cheeks/cheekbones). This stuff has literally dried big pimples that were popping in just two applications and faded out some dark acne scars I had. My blackheads are less now, they are easier to extract and it takes longer for them to come back. It leaves your skin very soft and it has also evened out my skin tone... all I need is some undereye concealer and my skin looks as if I have foundation on! I have NEVER had my skin looking like this! For the 1st month, I used this as a day and night cream, but now I only use this as a night cream. This is tick and a bit sticky until it gets absorbed, and, a few hours later, if you rub your skin, you'll feel stuff balling up - it's the product plus dead skin cells. So, it really is better to use this at night, and putting foundation on top of this can be tricky because of the balling up. You don't need a lot of the product - a pea sized amount, or even smaller will suffice for your whole face... I just dab tiny spots on my forehead, nose, cheeks and chin and spread. I use this all over my face (well, except for my eye area) and it has not irritated or dried out my skin, even on the drier spots. But beware - if you have a popped pimple, a scab you picked on, etc... it will sting. A lot. But it dissapears rather quickly. The only peeves I have about the product are the scent and the packaging. The scent is a bit chemical and medicinal, it's just not one of those pleasent smells... but it fades fast. The packaging is a tube and it sits on it's lid. I've noticed that mine leaks onto the lid... I generally scoop out the product from the lid with a clean and dry q-tip, and sometimes, I have product on the lid that is enough for more than one application! I will definitly buy this product again. It has literally changed my face. Here in Portugal, this is not too expensive, it's about 12€ for a 40ml tube, but, given the fact that a little goes a long way and the changes it has made on my face in such little time, this is a keeper, for sure!

Lip Gloss -Essence - Lip Gloss
Nadeshda 2/26/2008 3:25:00 PM
Who needs to buy makeup at the dollar store when there's Essence Cosmetics? Indeed, their prices rival dollar store prices, but the quality is light-years away. Essence Cosmetics is a German brand that is cheap because they don't do any advertising at all. At first glance, their prices may put some people off, thinking the product is bad, but that is not true at all. I have one of their lipglosses, in Why Not?. It is a soft pink that looks beautiful. The gloss is very shiny, but it's not one of those glosses that has particles that scratch your lips; it is very smooth to apply, and not overly sticky. At least on my lips, this lipgloss is sheer, and you can barely see a difference in term of color on my lips. However, I still like the way it looks on me, and, for 2€, you bet I'm going back to buy me some more!

Concealers -Artdeco - Perfect Teint Concealer
Nadeshda 2/26/2008 3:14:00 PM
This is a concealer with light-reflecting particles, much like YSL Touche Eclat. The packaging itself is very similar, with a built-in brush, but, instead of a clicking mechanism to drench the brush in liquid, it is a rotating mechanism. And, contrarily to the YSL, it doesn't start to smell bad after a while (I've had mine for 2 months, never cleaned the brush and it doesn't smell). I use it to conceal the dark circles under my eyes. The texture is exquisite: liquid, but not too liquid that it is runny, it is incredibly easy to apply, and it sinks into your skin by itself. It blends very well with my skin, does not look caked on and holds on very nicely throughout the day, even though I don't set it with powder. It is slightly buildable, going from light to almost medium coverage. I have really dark circles, and, unfortunatly, this concealer does not cut it for me (hence why I took 1 lippie off), but it still is the best I've tried, both in coverage and application. At 14€, it's a very good bet if you don't have really dark circles or if you want to use it as a highlighter. I will probably buy it again, but to use it as a highlighter or to put it on top of the concealer to brighten up the eye, and not use it as a concealer.

Lip Treatments -Labello - Lip Balm
Nadeshda 12/11/2007 12:52:00 PM
After years and years without putting anything on my lips, I found my lips to be obviously very dry, skin peeling off, sometimes bleeding... This year, I finally decided to do something about it. I bought a tube of Labello Original (the blue one), and kept putting it on throughout the day in thick coats (I like quick results lol), sleeping with it on... well, in just TWO days, my lips were not peeling anymore, they were moistured, looked even... I hadn't had them like that in years!! This works really quickly and moisturises very well. This lip balm is absolutely amazing, and I specially like the fact that it is dirt cheap, it only costs 1€. The only thing that I'm not a fan of is the feeling it leaves on your lips when you apply it, it feels a little greasy, but I'm willing to live with that, taking in consideration the effectiveness and price of it. The packaging is cute and pretty much a classic in Europe, but I find that sometimes the rotating thingie that pushes the balm up can get stuck just for a moment.
