Eyeliner -Urban Decay - heavy metal glitter liner (in general)
NOREEN_CHAN 3/25/2011 4:23:00 PM
I like the colour selection of these liners and the applicator is easy to use. But there isn't a lot of gltter with each swipe of the brush. I have to put on 3 layers before I get a noticeable amount of glitter. And I find the glitter doesn't stay put. It falls into my eyes and burns! This is especially bad because I wear contacts also. Maybe it doesn't stay put because I put on three coats in order to get the right amount of glitter. With the MAC glitter liners I also put on three coats and never had a problem with the glitter falling off and burning my eyes. I won't be repurchasing the heavy metal glitter liners. Which is too bad because the price is good and so is the colour selection.
Treatments -Kiehls - Midnight Recovery Concentrate

This is an oil and I need about three drops for my entire face so this product will probably last a while. It has a very soothing subtle scent to it. After applying it my face feels smooth and soft even though it's an oil it absorbs pretty quickly. In the morning my face looks hydrated and refreshed. I also love how it;s not full of chemicals. The packaging is very practical and it looks nice on the counter too.
Powder -Clinique - Superbalanced powder makeup (spf 15) [DISCONTINUED]
NOREEN_CHAN 12/6/2009 12:21:00 AM
I love the sheer to medium coverage of this product it's totally buildable. It looks very natural and blends well. It stays put for the day and only requires a quick touch up before heading out for the evening. The brush it comes with is totally useless. You need to apply it with a Kabuki brush and the SPF 15 is nice. Although, in the summer I use my Diorskin with the SPF 25 instead. I hate the packaging of this product because it's so bulky and because you have to twist it I don't know when I am nearly finished. But will repurchase because I like the coverage of the product.
Highlighters -Laura Mercier - StarLight Loose Powder

When I looked at it in the package I thought it was way too shimmery but when applied lightly onto my face it was perfect. It gave a nice warm healthy glow but you have to apply it with a light hand and a little goes a long way. It has a golden undertone which is perfect for summer. I wouldn't apply all over the face as this would be too much. It is perfect for just the top of your cheekbones. I also use it as an eyeshadow. The packaging is great as you can close the sifter so it doesn't make a mess.
Loose Powders -L'Oreal - Bare Naturale Soft-Focus Mineral Finish
NOREEN_CHAN 4/4/2009 11:46:00 PM
This is expensive for a drugstore product $15 CAD and you get very little product. The BE product is $24 CAD and you get alot more product. L'Oreal gives you 4.5 grams while BE is 10-12 grams. The packaging is terrible as the brush is attached to the lid which makes application tricky. They should not include the brush as it's not even a good brush and it probably drives up the price. I tried the luminous finish and it has a strange pink tint to it, not very flattering. Also, I don't find the powder to be finely milled and it doesn't blend very well into my face. I prefer the BE or Lancome mineral powders. They seem to be more finely milled and go on more smoothly.
This is a great product that is completely builable and has a good spf. It makes your skin look flawless and the application is vey easy and you don't need to much. But you have to make sure you use a good makeup primer otherwise I found it didn't apply evenly. I use the Lancome La Base makeup primer. The packaging is practical for travel because you can close the sifter with a simple twist so powder doesn't spill everywhere. My only gripe is that it's expensive at $46 CAD. It does last through the work day but if you are going out for the evening you will need to reapply.
This is an LE glitter eyeliner from the Hello Kitty collection. It doesn't look too wearable from the tube but once on it's actually very nice. The pink is subtle when you put it on (not garish) and has lots of multi coloured glitter. You can put two coats if you want it to be more pink. It's definitely noticeable.
Cleansers -Bioderma - Sensibio H2O (aka Crealine H20 Solution micellaire)
NOREEN_CHAN 2/11/2009 10:10:00 PM
I don't find this to be an effective cleanser if I'm wearing heavy make up. On the days I'm wearing little or no makeup it's perfect. I also use it as a toner. It doesn't dry out the skin and leaves it feeling soft.
This is a lustre formula but it seems to be a bit more pigmented than some of the other lustre ones I have. The colour you see in the tube is pretty much the colour you'll get on your lips. It's described as a sheer deep berry. It is a berry shade but there's more of a purple in it than red. So, I would describe it more as a purple berry colour. It's a nice colour but not a must have. If you're a Hello Kitty fan like me then you'll definitely love the packaging. It's not just a cheap sticker on the container!
I thought all eyelash curlers were the same until I tried this one. The curved pad definitely makes a huge difference. I used one which wasn't curved and it always curled my lashes in a 90 degree angle. It's $17 CAD but it's not too expensive if you consider they give you an extra pad in the box. I haven't tried Shu so I don't know if that's any better but this one did the trick for me.
Mascara -Shiseido - The Makeup Lasting Lift Mascara
NOREEN_CHAN 7/22/2008 1:03:00 PM
I have stick straight Asian eyelashes that point downwards. I curl them with Shiseido's eyelash curler followed with the lasting lift mascara which holds the curl perfectly throughout most of the day. I wear contacts and go to the gym with this mascara and there's minimal smudging. My only gripes are that it's hard to remove (but I guess that's why it stays on for so long, can't have it all!!) and the application is messy. It comes out all goopy from the tube and my eyes look like a mess. I have to use a lash comb but then my lashes look beautiful with minimal smudges throughout the day. If I want dramatic lashes I wear the DiorShow but that smudges like crazy.
This is the perfect neutral colour for daytime wear. It looks like I'm not wearing any blush but gives a nice polished look with some shimmer. But not the glittery obvious kind. Just gives me a slight glow. It's an amazing natural looking blush. The blush goes on beautifully without streaking and is goof proof since it's impossible to put on too much and it lasts all day. I would compare this to Luster, it's a lighter coloured less shimmery version.
This has a very warm shimmer to it. Not over the top shimmer where you can see the chunks of glitter on your face. It's more of a subtle glow. It's very similar to the Sunshine Coast Suede Blush. The only difference between the two is that Sunshine Coast has pink and Gold Coast has a coral colour. It's very subtle and gives your face just a warm glow of colour. There's not a lot of colour pay off when initially applied so if you want more colour you'll have to layer it. The pan is nice and big so you can swipe your blush brush over it easily.
This is a nice basic lip gloss colour. My lips are fairly pigmented so it didn't show up raspberry like some of the other reviewers. It simply looked like my lips but better. I find it fairly sticky and it has a weird almost plastic scent about it. But it's a nice lip gloss if you just want a polished look like you're not wearing any lipstick. The colour wasn't anything special that you had to run out and buy. It's good for those days when you don't want to look made up. It was $28 CAD (before taxes) and the pot was fairly small but it's so thick it should last for a while.
Eyeliner -Bobbi Brown - Long Wear Gel Eyeliner in Black Ink
NOREEN_CHAN 7/20/2007 9:25:00 AM
Iím totally in love with this eyeliner. Itís so light and easy to apply, goes on really smooth and creamy. You donít even feel it on your eyelid when applying. It dries in about 5 seconds. I bought the ultra fine eyeliner brush to apply it and itís fabulous. The correct brush makes the application so much easier and minimizes mistakes. Iím going back to try the other colours for sure. Black ink is a nice jet black colour and stays true throughout the day and doesnít smudge or budge. You hardly use any in one application, the jar will definitely last a very long time.
