Scrubs -Peter Thomas Roth - Botanical Buffing Beads
Mznuttabutta 2/17/2004 1:17:00 PM
I've been holding off buying the buffing beads because its so ridiculously expensive. But a nice sales assistant at Sephora gave me a generous sample and I've been hooked ever since. It has a runny, blue gel-like texture and smells like Tide but makes my skin feel like butter. I got carried away at first and used it every morning but had to cut down to twice a week because it was drying. Other than that, its an excellent product and actually helps increase the penetration of my topical AHA and BHA treatments

Skincare - Face -MD Formulations - Glycare Acne Gel
Mznuttabutta 2/17/2004 1:16:00 PM
This is a most excellent acne fighter. I love that it contains only the necessary active ingredients (BHA and AHA) along with some preservatives. No funny ingredients to clog my pores, just the good stuff. My acne was so BAD that I didnt want to leave the house, nor did I want to wait 6 months for Differin and Retin A to "start working". I needed something quick, and effective that would stop the breakouts in its tracks. I picked this up from Sephora after reading the positive reviews, went home and slathered it all over my face. The next morning my zits had flattened and over the next week-I stopped breaking out completely. I also want to mention that this is a clear, fast absorbing gel that can be worn day or night and underneath makeup. Dont be scared of the alcohol, its a good delivery system for the acids. Update: I am now on my second tube and its become my holy grail.

Blush -NARS - Crazed
Mznuttabutta 2/17/2004 1:16:00 PM
Im very pleased with this blush. Its a *very* shimmery, raspberry pink blush with intense pigment; infact its just as pigmented as Taj Mahal and Exibit A. A slight tap of my brush and I can cover both cheeks so a little bit goes a very long way. Ive always loved NARS packaging because of its durablity and mirror and this is no exception. Another fine blush to add to my collection:)

Bronzers -NARS - Laguna
Mznuttabutta 2/17/2004 1:16:00 PM
I thought this bronzer would make my skin look dirty since the color is a touch on the cool side, that is, it has beige/champagne undertones. But oh no, this made my skin look luminous and rich. It enhanced the color of my skin and add a nice sheen to my forehead and cheeks. (btw, Iam a MAC studiofix C7, Bobbi Brown Golden) I'll never be without this bronzer-its amazing and well worth the $25 price tag. The compact is a good size with a fairly large mirror. thumbs up.

Powder -Laura Mercier - Foundation Powder
Mznuttabutta 2/17/2004 1:15:00 PM
I bought this with the expectation that it would replace my MAC studio fix foundation which broke me out badly. Ironically enough, its the same number I have in studio fix (#7) but looks so MUCH better. Its more finely milled than studio fix and doesnt cake up. A bit lighter which is great, because with my oily skin it will get darker as the day progresses anyway. So far it hasnt broken me out, and I do plan on buying another. Word of caution: The case is flimsy and cheapo looking!! I dont think it would survive a fall. Given all of this, its a terrific product. Update: 12/01/03-it becomes my holy grail powder. I will repurchase again.

Eye Shadow -MAC - Pigment in Dark Soul
Mznuttabutta 2/17/2004 1:15:00 PM
Ok, originally, I gave this two lipsticks but now that Ive tried it for the second time, I sorta kinda like it. The problem I have with it is its not as rich as other pigments, it goes on a sheer gray-pewter with silver shimmer. And thats nice but not what I really want. This would be nice for a sultry-smokey eye but its not a WOW type of pigment. So dont kill yourself trying to get ahold of it. There should be plenty up for swap or still at counters soon.

Lipstick -MAC - Rocker Lipstick
Mznuttabutta 2/17/2004 1:14:00 PM
This is a dramatic "you better look at me" red. I detect some fuschia undertones. but it has red shimmer that looks pretty on my lips. A brown skinned MAC artist suggested this for me and I loved it the moment I wore it. I would definately repurchase this again.

Blush -NARS - Exhibit A
Mznuttabutta 2/17/2004 1:14:00 PM
I love this blush. Extremely bright is an understatement. I have to wear shades when I open the compact and apply it with a large blush. A few light swipes over the very top of my cheekbones to the outter corners of my eyes looks very chic and mod. I like to pair this blush with a bright red lipstick and black liquid eyeliner on the tops lids. Wonderful.

Crème -MAC - Full Coverage Foundation
Mznuttabutta 2/17/2004 1:14:00 PM
I use this primarily for taking pictures because I know it will cover EVERYTHING-which it does. Unlike the studio fix, it hasnt broke me out and doesnt irritate my skin. If you dont moisturize well, it can accentuate flakey skin but over all I love it. The only problem I have with it is it doesnt have a compartment for a sponge:p

Makeup Brushes -MAC - Fan Brush (Duster)
Mznuttabutta 2/17/2004 1:13:00 PM
TERRIBLE!!! Don't waste your $18. This brush became course and wirey after 1 washing with the most gentlest brush soap. I found a wonderful Japanese fan brush from the art supply store for...$1.99 and it does the same if not better job as the 207. I repeat, dont waste your $18.

Eye Primer -BeneFit Cosmetics - F.Y. Eye [DISCONTINUED]
Mznuttabutta 2/17/2004 1:13:00 PM
Unfortunately I could not use this product and there are so many terrible things wrong I dont know where to begin. First off, the container is unhygienic. Constantly dipping your fingers in will contaminate the product. Secondly the color is a strange beigey orange that doesnt match my skintone. Thirdly the texture is creamy at first but goes on very powdery and flakes off after a while. And Lastly, it did nothing to help my shadow stay in place. Infact my shadow works better without FY eye. I would never buy this again because its a complete and total waste of money.

Lotions/ Creams -Nivea - Renewal Night Creme for Body
Mznuttabutta 2/17/2004 1:12:00 PM
WOW I love this stuff! It was recommended to me by some ladies on the board and Im so glad I bought it. The texture reminds me of cool whip and it sinks into my dry skin making it soft and sweet. Im so tempted to try this on my face but I dont want to break out. its very similar IMO to the body shop body butters, only cheaper and more moisturizing.

Cleansers -Dove - Facial cleansing cloths - sensitive skin [DISCONTINUED]
Mznuttabutta 2/17/2004 1:12:00 PM
LOVEM LOVEM LOVEM. These are so effective at removing my makeup and doesnt break me out or sting my eyes. I picked them up on a hunch and Im so glad I did. I love the cute little box sitting on my sink, and how fast each cloth lathers up with soft foam. They clean so well, and I wont be without them-ever!

Shampoo -TiGi - Catwalk Honey & Oatmeal shampoo
Mznuttabutta 2/17/2004 1:12:00 PM
How does Tigi stay in business. Honestly, this is the third product Ive tried from them and got horrible results. This shampoo is heavily fragranced but does jack sh*t for my hair. It lathers up like dish detergent and strips every valuable oil from my hair making it feel like a brillo soap bad. It took me 5 days to get my hair texture back to its original state. I had to deep condition it every single day and sit under a hot bonnet. I cant even use this on my dog because her skin is sensitive, and forget about my makeup brushes-it might dry them out. This is useless. Maybe I'll wash my dishes with it.

Styling Products -Redken - Speed Control Smoothing Treatment & Styler
Mznuttabutta 2/17/2004 1:11:00 PM
I love this product and will continue using it unless I find something better. I should say at the start that I have African American 100% natural hair that I love to wear out and wild like Kelis. I needed a leavein that will smooth out my hair and accentuate any curls or ringlets. This is exactly what speed control smoothing treatment does. It tames my hair and refines the texture. Sometimes I like to mix it with a little Redken Heavy cream for added shine-its all good.
