I am the first to admit that I hear the words "Drugstore Mascara" and I automatically turn my nose up. When I had a chance to get several of these at a great discount, I bought several to swap since they are so popular. Well, today, I had a job interview and I didn't have time to hunt for my everyday mascara (Estee's Magnascopic), so I grabbed one of the unopened LB packages, put it in my bag and left. Somewhere on the highway, I opened it and applied it to my lashes....WoW! Every lash was covered and I looked so AwAkE! Not only that, but the volume was awesome! That was around 2:30pm. Right now at 9:30pm, it looks exactly the same...like I just applied it! I am bad to lose/misplace items such as mascara and eyeliners, so if I do misplace this, it will only be $6.oo-$7.oo to replace it. I find this similar to Avon's SuPeRfULL...it's a great economical mascara as well.
Styling Products -Sexy Hair Concepts - Big Sexy Hair - Spray and Play Hairspray
Myfugitive 10/28/2007 2:08:00 PM
This spray and PM Volumizing Finishing Spray are my HG hairsprays. This one gives tons of volume to my long, layered straight, majorly thick hair. I can style my hair with only this spray and a brush...that's how much volume it gives. After using this spray, I have no build-up or flakes whatsoever, as I always keep the bottle several inches away while I'm spraying. Also, a bottle of this lasts me a LONG time. Yes! I will purchase again and again!
I have used this color combo for awhile now, and I love to wear the lighter shade with the auqa/turquoise shirts/sweaters I have. To up the intensity, I also like to apply it wet. I have applied this at 6:00am and at 7:00pm it was still going strong. The darker blue shade is great for a liner. I have also applied it wet with good results. This is just as good as any high/end shadow I have bought...even better than most.
After using this shade, it didn't appear too sheer, so I looked on the OPI.com website, it's NOT A SHEER! Why give it that name, who knows? I love how this makes my hand look...a cool shimmery pink with just the faintest thouch of orchid. Awesome
Palettes -Trish McEvoy - Little Black Card Peaches and Cream Shimmer Set
Myfugitive 10/25/2007 7:46:00 AM
I got this from a darling sweet swapper as an extra.(Great RAOK!) The apricot gloss is what I use when I'm keeping my makeup low-key and just want some moisture on my lips. I really like the way it makes my pucker feel...soft and kissable, not greasy. I have found that the concealer will cover ANYTHING I need it to. It's also very blendable. I use the powder eyeliner with my eyeliner brush, and it's dark, but not harsh, and there's so much of it...I have used the liner for months and it hasn't even made a dip in it. The face powder is a good product and matches my skintone perfect, however, like almost all pressed powder in pallettes, it's kind of awkard to use a big fluffy blush brush to apply it. But I love the portability of these compact pallettes...they may be small, but when you open it up, there are LOADS of great items. I haven't seen many pallettes at all that will fit in your smallest evening bag and be as functional as this one.I hope to try the other LBC shades!
After I blot my damp hair with a towel, I use a mix some mousse and about a dime size glop of this stuff and apply it throughout my hair. then I go to bad with wet hair (I never blow dry anymore), and when I wake up, my straight hair is slightly wavy with a lot of body and perfect shine! Before when I just used the mousse (I love Herbal Essence Totally Twisted Mousse), my hair would be stiff and "crunchy", but when I mix this glosser in with it, it's soft and shiny and just right.
Lipstick -Lancome - Le Rouge Absolu - Beige Cashmere
Myfugitive 10/23/2007 7:59:00 AM
I know I'm in the minority here, but to me this isn't an attractive shade at all. It may be because the natural color of my lips is pretty dark to begin with. I apply this lippy and it just disappears and the smell is not really a bad one, but it's strong. My other Lancome l/s don't smell like this at all.
Lipstick -Clinique - Different Lipstick - Tenderheart
Myfugitive 10/23/2007 7:51:00 AM
This is a pretty shade, but the natural coloring of my lips is pretty dark to start with, in fact, they are almost this exact shade...therefore this don't make a difference in the color of my lips. It would be really pretty on someone with lighter colored lips. There is nothing wrong with this color, it's lovely, and I'm not deducting the rating just because my lips are too dark for it....I'll still wear it on days that I want to play up my eyes and keep the color on my lips minimal but moisturized.
Polishes -Estee Lauder - Pure Color Nail Lacquer - Pink Clouds
Myfugitive 10/23/2007 7:38:00 AM
Estee's nail polish applies great and dries very fast..to me it's worth $18.oo a bottle because it is virtually chip-resistant if you buff your nails regular. The color is one of my faves...it's just a pretty, soft neutral pink...very classic. I first used this shade about 4-5 yrs. ago and have had a bottle on hand evr\er since.
Mascara -Maybelline - XXL volume+length microfiber mascara
Myfugitive 10/23/2007 7:30:00 AM
Ewwww! This mascara is just a big clumpy mess, imo. It results in spidery, clumpy, stiff lashes. The primer DOES make the lashes extend, but it dries, then you apply the mascara over it and you can still see traces of primer...just NO!
The starter kit of Sheer Cover includes this concealer, and while it is a MOTHER to open the little compact it comes in, it is a very good product and covers what I need covered very well. it blends very easily, and matches my skin tone very close. I have the occasional zit and I have slight shadows at times in the inner corners of my eye, nothing major, and this covers beautifully. They have started selling SC at Target now I will repurchase. I just wish they'd work on the container and make it easier to open.
I 1st got a sample of this, and I didn't think I would like it. When I tore open the sample, something like liquid oil(?) spurrted out...ewwww. Then I shook it up and applied it with fingertips and it was very easy to blend and gave me a very flawless look. Although the coverage is med/full, it felt very lightweight and comfortable. It didn't feel like I was wearing a "mask" as the fuller coverage foundations do sometimes. But the big test is how a foundation continues to wear throughout the day. I have to say that it looked just as good 5 hours later than it did when 1st applied. Although my skin is more oily that dry, it's just a tad oily, almost normal everywhere but my t-zone. Therefore, I can usually skip the powder step. My face looked dewy (not shiny) and beautifully natural...no one could even tell I had on foundation. I do not have reactions to makeup for the most part, but some fuller coverage foundations feel "itchy" on my face, but this did not feel that way at all. This is now my HG foundation!
Gels/Soaps -Bath and Body Works - temptations 3 in 1 in Wickedly Hot Chocolate
Myfugitive 10/20/2007 12:58:00 PM
Everyone in my family hates this scent, but I am totally in love with it. It smells just like rich hot chocolate...I look forward to taking a bath knowing I get to use this. I have the lotion in this scent too and it is great, too. My #1 3-in-1...it's even better than the Philosophy's Hot Chocolate.
I use the cream version and i really like it. i have a green and a nude/brownish shade. I love to use this on the brow as a highlighter, as well as a wash on the lid. This is great to stay out of the creases and it don't settle into lines.Shimmer is there, but not overly so. This is great for teens or someone's 1st eyeshadow because it goes on very soft and subtle.
Powder -Estee Lauder - Double Wear Stay-in-Place Powder Makeup
Myfugitive 10/17/2007 10:07:00 PM
I am a forever fan of DW liquid foundation...so when this came out, I thought "Great...a portable version of my HG makeup!" so, I went to the EL counter at Macy's to buy some. The SA I usually see told me right off that she would not recommend this for my skin. My skin/complexion is pretty much normal, except for mt T-zone, which is slightly oily. She told me if I was a little oiler this foundation may be an option. But to make sure, she gave me a bunch of samples of this. She was right! The wear was ok on my T-zone, but left the reat of my face too dry feeling. Not only am I glad my SA told me the truth, but she knew she could've made a sale, and still didn't want me to buy it because she knew it wouldn't work well for me. She always says, "Liquid is always best!", and that's true for me anyway. I am even now more in love with my liquid DW....and I don't know why I even wanted a portable version...the liquid satys on all day!
