Pressed Powders -Revlon - PhotoReady Powder - Fair/Light
Muuttaa 5/27/2010 8:31:00 PM
I use PhotoReady Powder as foundation and as a finishing powder, and for both uses it performs very well. I use a skunk brush to apply this, and it provides light to medium coverage. The color is on the cool side, and is a very light almost white shade on my rosey fair skin. It lasts all day on my sensitive, oily/dry and acne-prone skin, and gives a very even, "glowy" finish (not shiny), so if you're looking for a matte finish, this isn't for you. I tried the included brush, and it's ok for touch ups, as long as you dot the power on, and don't sweep it across your face, as it did shed a bit.

Gels/Soaps -Dove - Beauty Bar
Muuttaa 5/1/2010 3:07:00 PM
Dove beauty bar is my acne destroyer. I have cystic acne; large, painful, embarrassing, pus-filled lumps that last for weeks, ugh. I don't know and don't care why or how this stuff helps kill my cysts, it just does and I'm grateful for it.
When I feel a painful cyst forming, I wash my face with my Dove bar (just once a day), paying extra attention to scrub the area around and on the cyst. This bar stops the cyst from forming dead in it's tracks. The pain from the cyst goes away in just a few hours (instead of days or weeks), and the cyst is completely gone in a day or so. I haven't found another product that actually gives real results like my Dove bar does. A side benefit is that my pores are less noticeable, too.

Skincare - Face -Clinique - 3 Step System
Muuttaa 5/1/2010 2:48:00 PM
Of all the 3-step systems I've tried, this one did almost nothing, good or bad. It didn't remove makeup well, it didn't dry out my skin too much, and it didn't clear up my acne at all. The (combination-oily) soap is drying, but the moisturizer is very light, and doesn't make up for the loss of moisture the soap removes. It left my skin tight, but not flaky. Sadly I got used to the tightness feeling, and when my skin didn't feel tight, I felt like I had to go wash it again. After prolonged use, this 3-step system didn't make my skin worse or better, so I didn't re-buy after it ran out.

Lipstick -Revlon - Colorstay Soft and Smooth lipstick
Muuttaa 4/29/2010 12:05:00 AM
I was looking for a nice nude color to lighten my overly-pigmented lips, and in the packaging 350 Smooth Nude seemed like it would fit the bill. The color is actually not very nude at all. It's a corally-brownish pink.
This lipstick did indeed glide on very smoothly as advertised, but it's also chalky and separates, and did not provide even coverage. It dried out and chapped my lips after just an hour of being on. I tried primer, dabbing it on, with and without lip balm, with gloss on top, with concealer as a base, and I just have to give up on it. No matter what application technique I tried, this doesn't give even, lasting coverage.
Also of note is the very nice clear and black plastic tube. It's very high-end, slim and chic. I will definitely try other Colorstay Soft & Smooth colors, but Smooth Nude goes into the cylindrical file.

Powder -Maybelline - Mineral Power Powder Foundation
Muuttaa 4/12/2010 4:02:00 PM
I bought Maybelline Mineral Power Natural Perfecting Powder Foundation in the lightest shade, Classic Ivory (Light 2) and it's just slightly too dark for my fair skin. You can't tell from inside lighting, but in outside lighting it is obvious that this doesn't match my skin. I'm really sad the color didn't match because this is an excellent powder foundation.
It covers my annoying redness and acne very well, makes my skin look smooth and even, it lasts hours with minimal blotting, and best of all it doesn't irritate my skin.
I demand lighter color choices! :-)

Powder -Maybelline - PureStay Powder Foundation
Muuttaa 4/12/2010 3:43:00 PM
I ran out of my normal foundation (which is fairly hard to find), and decided to try this out because of the good reviews here on MUA.
Ivory 10 is a perfect color match for my light skin. The yellowish tint evens out my pinkish tones well. It has a light fragrance, which to me smells like sunscreen. It comes with a sponge, but I used a skunk brush instead. It covers redness and acne very, very well, and leaves a matte but ever so slightly dewy finish. I found that I didn't need a concealer when I used this; I just dabbed the powder on blemishes with a concealer brush and it covered well without looking too powdery. This leaves my skin looking smooth and even.
Sadly, this made me break out at the end of the day because I didn't read the ingredient list beforehand. My skin just happens to be very sensitive to its first ingredient: Talc.
Overall it's a great powder foundation. It lasts 10-12 hours without needing to be touched up, and as long as your skin isn't sensitive to Talc, it's great.

Concealers -Maybelline - Dream Mousse Concealer [DISCONTINUED]
Muuttaa 3/31/2010 6:39:00 PM
I love this concealer! It covers the patchy redness of my overly-sensative skin (and acne) amazingly well. Fair 10 is a great match for my skin. It has just enough yellow to correct the redness and leave my skin looking fabulously even toned. You only need a tiny amount of this to cover a large area. Blending is a breeze, and it dries to a smooth and almost invisibly matte finish. I found that dotting it on with my fingertip (as the packaging suggests) blends it much better than using a concealer brush. I hate the heavy feeling that some concealers leave on my face, and thankfully this one feels completely weightless.
Over the top of this I use my HG powder foundation. Also, a big bonus is that I only need 1/2 as much powder foundation to make my skin look great, which saves me money (always a plus).

Foundations -Wet 'n' Wild - Natural Wear Mineral Foundation
Muuttaa 12/19/2009 10:26:00 PM
Natural Wear Mineral Foundation by Wet 'n Wild is an easy to apply, light to medium coverage mineral foundation that lives up to it's name as an amazingly natural-looking makeup.
I've tried dozens of foundations, from Chanel and MUFE to Revlon and Everyday Minerals. Every foundation I've tried inevitably causes me to have skin issues over time such as dryness, oiliness, or acne breakouts, which is why I keep trying new products. I was so completely surprised by how wonderful this looks on, and that it causes zero skin issues, that I vowed to wait to review it until I had used up an entire jar, just to make sure. That day is today.
I've received many positive compliments about my skin in the past few months. Natural Wear Mineral Foundation is simply great.
PROs:
1. Looks great in any light (even fluorescent lights!)
2. Is easily blendable with concealer
3. Isn't drying or oily
4. Excellent color match for my fair and cool skin: Fair (see CONs, below)
5. Doesn't cause any skin problems/breakouts/clogged pores/etc
6. Doesn't get cakey/runny/streaky
7. Is touchable without ruining the coverage
8. Is dewy-looking without looking shiny or greasy
9. Looks great all day
10. Inexpensive
11. Feels good (no tightness, itchyness or oily feel)
12. Packaging is cute
CONS:
1. Only 4 colors
2. The included kabuki is rough and smells like plastic (I use a skunk brush instead)
The bottom line for Natural Wear Mineral Foundation is that if you're lucky enough that one of the only 4 colors (Fair, Light, Medium, Tan) matches your skin tone, and you're looking for natural looking light/medium coverage, this is an amazing mineral makeup that very easily beats out the 7 other mineral brands I've used.

Polishes -Wet 'n' Wild - Nail Color in Sparked / # 435F
Muuttaa 6/13/2009 2:24:00 PM
I'm all about glitter nail polishes, and this is definitely one of my all-time favorites. Sparked is a shiny pink glitter polish. In just two easy gel-like coats you get a beautifully dense cover of sparkly pink glitter you'd expect to get from more expensive nail polishes. To prevent chipping, I prepare my nails with a sanding block before applying, without needing a base coat. I usually change my polish once a week, and it's nice to know that Sparked will last longer if I need it to. Sparked and Kaleidoscope (silver multicolor glitter) are my favorite WnW nail polishes.

Mascara -Rimmel - Glam Eyes
Muuttaa 4/23/2009 9:53:00 PM
My staple mascaras are Definicils, Lash Blast, and Clinique Naturally Glossy Mascara. I've got to say, I've been using this for a month now, and it definitely has a place in my mascara rotation.
It is effortless to put on. With some mascaras you need to stroke your lashes over and over again to get the product on, but not with Glam Eyes. The brush is long and thin, and it will quickly bring out every tiny little lash that you have. You do need to be careful putting the brush back into the tube because the brush is so flexible. The result is ultra-long, popping lashes that don't flake or hurt my sensitive eyes, but also removes very easily. I use extreme black, and I'm loving it.

Styling Products -TiGi - Bed Head After Party
Muuttaa 4/15/2009 4:23:00 PM
My hair is fine and wavy and tends to frizz. Bed Head After Party makes my hair sleek and shiny, but not weighed down or heavy. It also smells great and washes out completely without leaving buildup. The packaging is also quite cute! Now even my husband is using it! Nooo!!! Not my After Party! :-P

Makeup Brushes -Lancome - Foundation Brush
Muuttaa 4/15/2009 12:15:00 AM
This was my very first foundation brush. It worked well and wasn't streaky as long as it's cleaned after each use. The bristles are soft yet firm, and it doesn't shed. Sadly, the bristles began to curl on one side, which got worse over time. Although I tried everything from steam to irons to straighten it again, it just won't straighten out. Now I prefer taklon brushes.

Fragrances -Lancome - Tresor
Muuttaa 4/14/2009 11:35:00 PM
I received Tresor as a gift for Valentine's day, as my boyfriend at the time loved it. At first sniff I smell a sharp yet musty odor that reminds me of opening a door to a home which had been abandoned for some time. Strong and overpowering. It dries down to a headache-inducing moldy, mildewy, and old dusty stench. It just didn't mix with my body chemistry at all, or maybe I got a bad bottle? Either way, it's just not for me. After I broke up with my boyfriend, I gave Tresor away. Now every time I smell Tresor, I remember Rudy, my first love, so that's not such a bad thing.

Liquid -Chanel - Teint Innocence [DISCONTINUED]
Muuttaa 4/11/2009 4:46:00 PM
TI gives medium coverage, but felt quite heavy and mask-like on my skin. It doesn't accentuate flaws or pores at all, which is nice, but it also oxidized into an unflattering shade of orange after just a few hours.
After two days of use, this product caused the very worst makeup-caused acne breakout I have ever had. I believe that the oxidation and breakdown of the foundation on my skin may have caused my bad reaction. I still have scars fading on my chin from the huge cysts I got from this foundation. The only change I made to my routine was this foundation (and I still use the same routine today) so it must have been this that caused my breakout. I had such a horrible reaction from it that I swore off all Chanel makeup completely. I love Chanel fragrances, but their makeup is poison to my skin.

Eyeliner -Wet 'n' Wild - H2O Proof Liquid Eyeliner
Muuttaa 4/11/2009 1:59:00 AM
Wet 'n' Wild H2O Proof Liquid Eyeliner is thicker than the dozen or so other liquid liners I've tried, and so it stays put after application. It's also a deep black and keeps fresh all day and then some.
Finally! A dark black liquid liner that perfectly tightlines my upper lashes and doesn't budge, bleed, run, transfer, flake, or burn my sensitive eyes!
