Eye Shadow -MAC - Pigment in Golden Olive
MrsMiller 4/4/2009 2:23:00 PM
LOVE this pigment, its my favourite of all of them! It is a fabulous metallic mid green with a very slight golden sparkle to it. I like to apply it over the whole lid after using a light layer of neutral/light cream eyeshadow - this gives the pigment something to stick too and really makes the colour pop. My only gripe is the packaging, its so messy and so easy to knock over/drop etc. Carrying it around in your bag on a night out for touch-ups is fraught with danger although when applied with an eye-base/cream shadow as above you shouldn't need to do this. For mess reasons alone I prefer to run my fingertip around the inside of the lid and pick the colour up that way rather than having to dip my finger in the brush. I have tried to apply this as a lighter "wash" of colour using a brush but its just not worth the cleanup and random green sparkles all over your face! However, I still give this a 5, and if you want a really eye-catching strong green eye, then this will be your HG!

Blush -MAC - Beauty Powder in Sweetness
MrsMiller 4/4/2009 2:16:00 PM
In the pan this blush looks scary - a really bright almost fluro pink! However applied lightly to the apples of the cheeks it gives a lovely fresh and healthy glow to the face. Layer it on a bit thicker and you really get the strength of the colour which can look fabulous if you know what you are doing with brights!! I love that its very matte as sparkles in a colour this strong would be too much. Will last forever, I have had mine for over a year and it still looks like a brand new blush as you need so little of it. Great staying power too.

Shampoo -Kerastase - Bain Miroir Shine Enhancing Shampoo
MrsMiller 4/4/2009 2:10:00 PM
I have long, very thick hair which is in very good condition. it is naturally a light red/brown but coloured to a honey blonde. No matter what kind of state my hair is in - dirty, full of product after a night out, unbrushed, sunbaked, over-straightened - this shampoo stands up to it. I can literally wet my unbrushed hair under the shower, massage it into a lather and then rinse and all product and tangles seem to rinse down the drain with it. Leaves my hair with a lovely shine, is kind to my colour, smells gorgeous and the packaging looks great in my bathroom. Its bloody expensive but worth every penny - especially great after a colour when hair can be a bit dryer. LOVE!!

Highlighters -Clinique - Fresh Bloom Allover Colour Almond Blossom
MrsMiller 4/4/2009 2:05:00 PM
I received a couple of sample sizes of this with some GWP's and fell in love with it, so much so that I bought the full-size version in Blackberry Bloom. The brick/rust colour used alone is a fabulous flattering day-or-night blusher - swirled with the golden metallic powder it makes a stunning look for the evening. I do find that the metallic gold can be a bit "too much" and frankly unflattering in daylight or if your skin isnt pretty much perfect, but if you are having a good complexion day, its amazing. No need for touch-ups once applied, and the silver packaging is gorgeous, as well as pretty much indestructable! Just wish it didn't scratch so easily!

Powder -Clinique - Superpowder Double Face Makeup
MrsMiller 4/4/2009 2:00:00 PM
This is a staple product in my makeup bag which I simply cannot live without. The colourmatch to my fair/medium skin is perfect (07 matte neutral). The coverage is excellent for a pressed powder and leaves the skin looking flawless. I have found that the best way to apply this is to use a sponge applicator like the one provided, load the product onto it and then buff into the skin in circular motions. During the day I can wear this alone (provided no break-outs) and its equally good worn over foundation in the evening for a more "done" look. My only gripe is that in hot weather it can be slightly heavy and clogging, but other than that, fantastic.

Moisturizers -Philosophy - Hope in a Jar - for all skin types
MrsMiller 4/4/2009 1:56:00 PM
I was bought a pot of this for Christmas and was very excited to try it. I had heard all the hype about it being great for all skin types etc etc and had faith that this could be the moisturiser I needed to balance and treat my breakout prone, sensitive and reactive skin. First of all the smell is rank, like burning plastic. And if you get this anywhere near your eyes you are going to know about it - it stings like a m*therbitch! However, I have to say the "whipped" texture feels lovely to apply and is a pleasure to rub into the skin. I did feel that it took a long time to absorb and that it tended to sit on my skin without properly soaking in. However, it is worth pointing out that I am currently living in Malaysia where the climate is very hot and humid. It didnt really do anything for my skin at all - I dont think it broke me out but it certainly didnt improve anything either. I will keep this and use it when I return to the UK - in a colder climate I think this could be a different story...

Liquid -Revlon - Beyond Natural Skin Matching Makeup SPF 15
MrsMiller 4/4/2009 1:50:00 PM
I had excited to try this makeup as my skin, although acne-prone is still in pretty good shape when it isnt breaking out (ie no scars, blotchiness etc). It claims to be non-comeodogenic and give a light, natural coverage and therefore thought it would be perfect for me to use on "good" days. However, I only ever got to use this product twice - both times I had it on my face for 4/5 hours. And both times when I washed my face I had broken out into lots of teeny tiny pimples all over my cheeks. The dreaded magnifying mirror showed just how much it had clogged my pores. Also, to add insult to injury the coverage did fade in that short space of time even when set with powder. I wonder if this would have worked better with the primer from the same range. Sadly I am not willing to try my luck. Would def not repurchase.

Mascara -Clinique - Naturally Glossy Mascara
MrsMiller 4/4/2009 1:41:00 PM
I love love love this mascara - DEF my HG! I have naturally long and thick eyelashes and so don't always want a full-on mascara, especially during the daytime. This applies very easily, feels silky, never clumps and provides a gorgeous glossy coverage with good depth of colour. I have never had any problems with it wearing off/flaking etc. Removes easily with any cleanser/makeup remover. I also love that this is very buildable so can be equally good for a night out if I apply two coats instead of the usual one. Also love the sleek silver packaging.
