Blush -MAC - Sheertone Blush in Blushbaby
rated 5 of 5
Montana_Wildhack 3/4/2012 7:21:00 AM

This blush looks very different when applied from what its look in the pan suggests. "Blushbaby" was purchased when I discovered that MAC's "Peaches" was a tad too orangey on my very pale skin. Although Blushbaby looks more like a mixture of beige and rose in the packaging, it's a perfect flush of peach on the skin, almost like the colour when I blush naturally. Simply perfect! Handling is easy because of its sheertone finish, you can build it up the way you want it. I'd definitely repurchase this baby.

Eyeliner -Maybelline - Eyestudio Lasting Drama Gel Eyeliner
rated 4 of 5

Usually, I'm more a fan of liquid liners, but Maybelline's gel liner is pretty good. The pigmentation is good, the application is easy and the staying power is great for a drugstore brand. The little brush that comes with the liner is quite useful, too. So, in a nutshell, this product was a pleasant surprise for me.

Lipstick -Kanebo - The Lipstick
rated 5 of 5
Montana_Wildhack 4/13/2011 6:03:00 AM

A while ago, my beloved shade "Smoked Topaz" by Helena Rubinstein was discontinued, so I was looking for an alternative. While browsing through the stores, I found Kanebo's The Lipstick in "Hiwada", a lovely colour. It's a warm red with orange and brown undertones and a very subtle shimmer, the shade is towned down a bit, so I'd definitely wear this as a daytime-red, too. The staying power is very good, its moiturizing properties are rather mediocre (considering the price), it doesn't settle into fine lines, even after a long day. It's exactly the colour I was looking for and I'd buy it again, despite the really hefty price tag.

Fragrances -Les Parfums de Rosine - Rose de Rosine
rated 5 of 5
Montana_Wildhack 4/13/2011 5:51:00 AM

La Rose de Rosine is heaven in a bottle for me. I know, it's not for everyone and I can clearly see that some may dislike it because it's a bit of an old-fashioned creation. That's in turn exactly the reason why I love it so much, its old world femininity, grace and elegance. Although the combination of green top notes, slightly candied florals and a warm base of tonka and woods doesn't exactly sound exciting, the quality of this perfume is superb, it's an extremely well-blended composition with a very good staying power. It's also equally adequate for day or evening wear. One of the very few perfume must-haves, from my point of view.

Fragrances -Les Parfums de Rosine - Zeste de Rose
rated 5 of 5

Un Zest de Rose is one of my favourite scents. It's a tender, refreshing citrusy-floral perfume that is both simple and elegant, yet never boring. Perfect for summertime! What I absolutely love about this, is that the rose smells like the real deal (just like you have a tearose bush in front of you on a hot summer's day). Although it is a rather light and airy scent, it is surprisingly long-lasting on me. Wonderful!

Toners -Makeup Artist's Choice (MUAC) - Acne Pore Minimizer w/Sepicontrol A5
rated 4 of 5

I bought this product to reduce the greasiness (especially in the t-zone) and it really works like no product before did (I have very oily skin and it keeps me shine-free almost the whole day long). I did not notice a difference concerning pimples and blackheads but it also helps with post-inflammation redness. There are two things I don't like about the product: First, the packaging - I'd prefer some sort of atomizer, because I waste too much product with this sort of closing lid. Second, there's an preserving agent in it (Methylisothiazolinone) which is controversial (you can read about, for example, here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Methylisothiazolinone).

Lipstick -NARS - Casablanca
rated 3 of 5
Montana_Wildhack 4/30/2009 7:25:00 AM

Am I the only one who complains about the smell? My Casablanca smells strongly like old crayons, I always have to use it in combination with a gloss or another lipstick that covers the odor. As much as I like the beautiful coral color and the texture, but for a high-end brand, I definitely expected a better scent from the product.

Lips -Burt's Bees - Lip Shimmer- Papaya
rated 4 of 5
Montana_Wildhack 4/7/2009 2:15:00 PM

I really like the colour, it's neither too orange nor too bright on me, it actually enhances my natural lip colour and gives a soft golden shimmer. I think the price is okay for an organic product. The only thing I don't like about it, is the aftertaste which is a little bit weird - can't really describe it exactly, but when the initial minty scent is gone, there's some slightly strange smell remaining.

Cleansers -Dr. Hauschka - Cleansing Cream
rated 4 of 5
Montana_Wildhack 3/12/2008 10:31:00 AM

I really like the cleansing cream, although it's quite pricey taking into account it only contains a small amount of product. It exfoliates the skin very gently (although it's not a peeling) and leaves it soft and smooth. The smell is quite unique and hard to describe - either you love it or you hate it ;-). I will definitely repurchase it because my facial skin prefers to be cleansed without tensides.

Shampoo -Aubrey Organics - Rosa Mosqueta Nourishing Shampoo
rated 4 of 5
Montana_Wildhack 3/12/2008 10:16:00 AM

Again, I really like the scent of Aubrey's "Rosa Mosqueta" line and the results this product achieves. I have fine short hair (cut in a twenties' bob) and I dilute 10ml of this shampoo with 90ml water, wet my hair, distribute the mixture on the scalp and lather it. Then I rinse it out and continue my regular hair regime - voilà, perfectly shiny and healthy hair! A little goes a long way, the shampoo contains mild tensides and doesn't produce a lot of foam, but it still cleanses sufficiently without stripping the hair of its natural moisture. The only disadvantage is that it's a bit pricey here in Germany (around 17€) - minus one lipstick in the overall rating.

Lotions/ Creams -Aubrey Organics - Rosa Mosqueta Hand and Body Lotion
rated 4 of 5
Montana_Wildhack 3/12/2008 9:58:00 AM

My favourite lotion for dry hands! I love the organic ingredients and the smooth skin it creates. I also really like the smell of it - it's a mixture of rose and baby-powder, helps me to calm down after a stressful day. The fact that it comes in a dispenser is a lot more hygienic than the usual tins and bottles. The price in Germany is higher than in the U.S. , about 22€ - so I give it four instead of five lipsticks.
