I purchased the latest CK ONE Summer from Ulta about a week ago. I kind of like it. I love "Summer" versions of perfumes - they make me happy. Almost all of them evoke the beach, suntan lotion and teenage happiness :-) This one smells a little bit like Tommy Girl Summer from a few years back. Will use it all Summer.

Polishes -Essie - Berry Hard

This color is from 2004 I believe. It is very similar to Essie Masquerade Belle & OPI's Mrs. O'Leary's Barbeque. Love, love love all three of them! Very subtle differences between the colors...Masquerade Belle being the darkest and Berry Hard being the lightest...Mrs. O'Leary falling the middle. You could also compare to Essie's Wicked...but not quite as dark. The perfect color. Flattering on just about everyone. I love dark polish. I wish I could find a Spring/Summer shade that I love just as much. I feel that these colors are a little too heavy for Spring but I keep wearing them b/c I can't find anything that I like better.

This is a cute candy pink...looks like valentine's day candy...not bad for a drug store nail polish. Had it applied at the nail salon and it hasn't chipped yet - so far so good. Color is pretty...my nails look like jelly beans....a little too springy and a little too pink for my usual tastes but nice for a change in the middle of winter.

I tried one of the new Winter 2010 colors - "Masquerade Belle". It is absolutely gorgeous. It looks alot like OPI's "Mrs. O'Leary's Barbeque" A very rich chocolate red. I love it! I used to love OPI and still do but I am starting to be more fond of the Essies. They have a slightly different consistency and appear a bit glossier if that makes any sense :-) I will be wearing "Masquerade Belle" all Winter. "Masquerade Belle" is the prettiest one out of the Winter 2010 Collection. Subsequently, I will be very happy when the trend of green nails as well as the grey goes away! Looking like the dead (grey nails) or a 12 year old (green nails) is not for me. The reds and pinks are much more flattering on everyone, trust me on this one!

Polishes -OPI - Windy City Pretty

I think this color is discontinued :-( It is a very unusual pink with a hint of mocha...I could see it not working for some skin tones but it works for me and it is my favorite pink for Fall. It was a part of OPI's Chicago Collection a few years back but it is now nowhere to be found. I find it very difficult to find a suitable Pink for Fall, the majority of Pinks that I see from both Essie and OPI are very spring and summery looking and seem way too light for this time of year so I will stick with my gothy darks (Mrs. O'Leary's barbeque & Lincoln Park) until Spring. Oh well!

ooooohhhhh pretty :-) Looks like frozen grape jelly & I love the fact that it is a little gothy...(almost black but not really when you look at it in the light) No shimmer (which is a good thing) but it still has a very cool silvery liquid feel about it..but no silver...a beautiful wintery color!

Treatments -Dr. Hauschka - Neem Hair Oil

This stuff is awesome. My hair just drinks it...lol! I used to spend alot of $$ at the salon for Kerastase treatments but I rarely need to do that since I have been using this. I put a generous amount in my hair before bed, comb thru & then put my hair in a bun with a loose scrunchie. In the AM I wash out in the shower and voila - lovely & shiny hair! It is a little expensive but well worth it. The smell is nice too. I have normal color treated hair by the way. I baby my hair for that reason and it really makes a difference. Be kind to your tresses ladies :-) They will thank you for it :-)

Fragrances -Unlisted Brand - Jean Desprez Bal a Versailles

Definitely a wintery scent! Gorgeous & complicated. Very hard to describe...hmmmmm let me think here... would wear this on a date in Winter or on Christmas Eve :-) I would not wear this to work. Very dramatic and not for the faint of heart. Kind of old-fashioned but hauntingly beautiful. Very womanly...not for a girl. You need like 1/2 of a drop so the bottle will absolutely last forever. If you like Rive Gauche or Youth Dew type scents you will adore this. The bottle is gorgeous too. I keep it on my bathroom shelf year-round just so I can look at it.

Love, love love! Perfect for daytime & the office. Just a little spritz in the AM as I am running out the door. It smells so clean! It is definitely a happy & wide awake scent :-) It dries down nicely too and does not give me a headache like some scents do. Nothing worse than heady, wintery, scents at the office...yuck! This one is a winner. I know the scent is a bit conventional but I now understand why it is so popular. I get many compliments when I am wearing it and the only people who recognize it are the ones that wear it themselves. I will definitely be buying another bottle!

I am not a big eyeshadow person but I love snowy shades like this one. A little across the browbone and a touch on the lid adds a nice touch. I will keep wearing it.

Brows -Shu Uemura - H9 Hard Brow Pencil - Seal Brown

The best eyebrow pencil ever! Works very well with dark blonde hair. It goes on the brow very dry and settles/softens as the day goes on. Fills in brows quite nicely. Very natural looking.

Tres voluminous & quite poufy are the results if you like that sort of thing :-) But in a good way! I use a smattering of this on my roots every AM even on days that I wash my hair. It gives my hair a ton of volume and dimension. My hair feels naked without it. If you want to look like the ladies in Texas (and I do..by the way) this is the product for you :-) I love it. It smells like lemons too.

Revlon - Pink in the Afternoon where are you? I hope that it is not discontinued :-( I can't find it anywhere. I thought I saw the lipstick but I haven't seen the nail polish in years.... It is a great Pink...not too light...not too princessy... Just a happy office appropriate pink. Bring it back!

Bronzers -Dr. Hauschka - Bronzing Powder
rated 5 of 5
Mittengirl 9/28/2010 10:38:00 AM

Dr. Hauschka Bronzing Powder is the most universally flattering bronzer out there. I would imagine that it would look good on absolutely everyone. The color is just perfect for both warm and cool skin tones. Not at all orange and it just looks so natural. I layer it with a soft pink blush in the winter and just wear the bronzer in the summer months. Love, love, love!

Mascara -Maybelline - Great Lash Mascara
rated 1 of 5
Mittengirl 9/28/2010 10:19:00 AM

I love mascara and this is by far one of the worst mascaras out there. Still mystified by why everyone is so gaga over it. I would rather wear nothing on my lashes than use this. Doesn't deliver in any way: no volume, clumpy and when you remove it...your eyelashes give up and fall out...lol! It is absolutely craptastic! I alternate between DiorShow and Dr. Hauschka Volume Mascara with an occasional Lancome thrown in the mix when I have the $$$ This is just dreadful :-( Don't even bother.
