Styling Products -Paul Mitchell - ExpressStyle Round Trip Liquid Curl Definer

This stuff weighed my hair down so much it dropped even my natural curls! I have lots of hair, and usually have no problems getting volume in it, but not when I put this product in... it's just limp and straight. I also find it quite drying, by the end of the day it makes my hair feel like straw.
Loose Powders -Meow Cosmetics - Top Cat Finish Setting Powder
Miss_Bubbles 9/26/2008 7:55:00 AM
Meow threw this in as a sample in my last order and it's awesome. It helps set your foundation, giving it a lasting finish. But what I found best is that is really gives you more of that airbrushed look. Definitely going to order a full size one of these.
Mascara -Shu Uemura - Precise Volume Mascara Waterproof

This is a HG for me. It ticks all the boxes: - holds curl - doesn't smudge - waterproof - doesn't irritate/dry eyes - long lasting - fantastic brush
Moisturizers -Philosophy - Hope in a Jar for Dry, Sensitive Skin
Miss_Bubbles 9/26/2008 7:43:00 AM
I can't believe I haven't reviewed this yet. This cream is an absolute HG for me, I can not live without it. Prior to finding this, I was using CDLM, and prior to that I was constantly battling my dry skin - nothing would keep it moisturised for more than an hour. I've had as good results with this cream as I had with CDLM, and it's a fraction of the price. I ran out of this once and almost instantly I had eczema on my face again. In winter I get by with this alone - no serums or boosters. The only downside of this product is it isn't the best to wear under makeup. You have to let it sink in for a while.
Powder -Everyday Minerals - Foundation Original Glo Formula
Miss_Bubbles 9/26/2008 7:36:00 AM
I wanted to like this product after all the good reviews on here, but it's just not right for my skin. I have dry skin, and this just didn't 'sink in' like it was supposed to, I guess you need a bit more natural oil. It left a kind of blotchy, powdery finish, no matter how much 'buffing' I did. You could tell I was wearing makeup.
Moisturizers -La Mer - Creme de la mer moisturizer
Miss_Bubbles 8/27/2006 1:04:00 AM
This is a pretty damn good moisturiser. I wouldn't call it a 'miracle cream', but i have ultra dry skin, and this is the only moisturiser that i've tried to date that will actually keep my skin moisturised for more than an hour. My skin was supple and radiant. After the first week, my skin looked fantastic. CDLM goes well under makeup, and did a good job of evening out my skin tone.
I did get some pimples when i first started using it, but they went away very quickly, so I don't know if this was a coincidence or not.
I got a 30 ml jar, and it lasted me exactly two months, using it morning and night. I thought that the whole 'warming' routine was a bit OTT - you only need to rub it between your fingers for 2 seconds at most. I found it easiest to apply this in several small sections, rather than trying to do my whole face at once. Also, I rubbed it in, not patted. It was never greasy when i applied it.
Don't think i'll repurchase though.. it's just too expensive.
Moisturizers -Dermalogica - Intensive Moisture Balance
Miss_Bubbles 2/5/2006 9:59:00 PM
Works well for my dry skin. I use it at night, and it does a good job of replenishing the moisture in my skin. My skin is prone to oilyness (shine) if it doesn't get enough moisture, and this product does help to prevent that.
This doesn't seem to be enough for me during the day though. I live in a very dry climate, and am in an air-conditioned office all day too. If i wear this product under makeup, i get quite shiny by lunchtime. Also, this isn't enough to keep my skin moisturised during the day in winter - i need to use 'booster' products such as Dermalogica hydrating booster... and even then my skin still gets dry.
Overall, a good product for dry skin. I believe there are better out there though.
A great everyday cleanser. I have dry skin, and it does a great job of removing all makeup and thoroughly cleansing my skin. It's a little bit harsh for my skin in winter, but perfect for summer. I love the pump pack too!
Meh. Nothing special about this mascara. It creates average length, average volume, average drama. It clumps a bit. I've been using it for about a month or so, and it's just starting to flake and smudge after a few hours wear.
This mascara wilts curl more than any other that i've tried. If i apply this after curling my eyelashes, they are straight again almost immediately. If i curl them with a heated curler after applying this mascara, they curl, but it's not 'locked' into place. The curl wilts during the day.
I don't like the wand either. The brush is nice and big (similar to diorshow), but the wand itself is too short.
If we could give half marks, i'd give this a 3.5. It's not great, but it's not bad either.
Mascara -Yves Saint Laurent - Mascara Volume Infini Curl
Miss_Bubbles 2/5/2006 9:21:00 PM
In my endless quest for my HG mascara, this on is the best i've tried so far (see my other reviews for other candidates).
This mascara has all the qualities of YSL FC, but better. It holds curl better (though still wilts most of the curl after using a shu curler), length is longer, and no clumping. Lashes are much softer and less brittle than with FC.
Although this mascara is advertised as a 'curling' mascara, it does not create any curl for me. I have to use a heated curler after applying to get (and maintain) curl.
Unlike FC, infinicurl does not start to flake after a couple of weeks of use. However, after about 2 weeks it smudges quite bad by the end of the day, and I don't get more than a month out of a tube. Like FC, infinicurl gets a but 'gloopy' and you need to wipe the brush clean once a week.
Currently not available on strawberrynet, so at AU$50 per month, this is an expensive mascara. I am not repurchasing until i can get it a bit cheaper (it's not worth the price).
Mascara -Yves Saint Laurent - Mascara Volume Effet Faux Cils
Miss_Bubbles 2/5/2006 8:14:00 PM
This is a pretty good mascara. Not HG material, but certainly better than a lot of others out there.
Curl: doesn't create or hold curl
Length: Creates fantastic length.
Volume: Doesn't really give you lashes that you don't have, but separation is good, some clumping.
Staying power: for the first few weeks of use, staying power is excellent. No smudging for me. After about 2-3 weeks of use, this product flakes terribly. The maximum I can get out of a tube is about a month.
I continue to purchase this mascara because it's pretty good, and it's available cheaper on strawberrynet. Not HG material.
Mascara -Christian Dior - DiorShow Mascara Waterproof
Miss_Bubbles 8/2/2005 10:45:00 PM
I had really high hopes for this mascara. I loved the original diorshow, but it flaked and didn't hold curl. So you can imagine how excited i was to hear that the waterproof version was coming out.
I was so disappointed by this mascara though! It is nowhere NEAR as dramatic as the original version, does a pretty average job of lengthening, and made my lashes clump together. Even worse, it smudges under my eyes like crazy, and is hardly waterproof at all. The only decent thing about this mascara is that it does hold curl pretty well (though not as good as i was expecting it to).
Definitely not buying this again.
This cleanser was good, but nothing special for me. It foams well, and does a good job of removing all traces of makeup. For a foaming cleanser, it is very gentle. Comes in 150ml tube, which i went through surprisingly quick. I have combination skin which gets dehydrated easily.
The first thing you notice about this product is the menthol smell. It's very strong, and leaves your skin feeling really refreshed and slightly warmed. Warning - DON'T put it near your eyes, it will sting! The granuals are very fine, and exfoliates gently. I really like this product, as it is very effective. I'd suggest getting a sample before you buy it though, because i'm guessing not everyone will like the strong menthol. Full size product is 50ml, which i thought was a bit small considering the price.
Loving this product! I have combination skin, which can get quite dehydrated. Since using this product, my skin has been more radiant and 'balanced' then it ever has before. No breakouts, no dry patches, no oily patches. HG. update: Had to stop using this in winter, it wasn't enough to keep my skin hydrated in my cold, dry climate. Still fantastic for summer use.
